We talked to Dr. Marius Șuță, ophthalmologist and assistant professor at UMF Timișoara, about the impact that the blue light emitted by the screens of the gadgets we use daily has on eye health. He explained to us in detail not only what effects the harmful blue light has, but also how we can mitigate or avoid these effects.

According to the specialist, "the most important thing is to see if we use protective measures, goggles for blue light but also high-performance screens, which can help us save our eyesight after prolonged exposure." The doctor explained that "people who have certain problems, personal history or hereditary history of presbyopia, astigmatism, farsightedness or myopia, so refractive errors and focusing disorders, will be even more affected by prolonged exposure to gadget screens." The main method available to us is to limit the exposure time to the various screens and to wear appropriate protective equipment whenever we have the opportunity.

Dr. Marius Șuță wanted to emphasize that such limitations on the number of hours are necessary for both adults and children. "Until the age of two, children should not look at gadget screens, whether they are smartphones or tablets. After the age of two, they are allowed up to two hours, of course with break intervals, during which they have a period of relaxation. And in adolescence, from three to four hours, of course, with breaks ", the specialist doctor advised us.
