Angrry.exe™
In short: Offering a Ryzen 7 5800H processor and an RTX 3050Ti video card, the VivoBook Pro 14X is an ultra-portable multivalent that can easily attack common tasks, demanding applications and, to some extent, even games. Beyond the specifications, the excellent 14-inch 2.8K 16:10 OLED screen is its main advantage over the competition, but you have to consider if you really need this type of panel in such a compact product, to the detriment of alternatives with IPS screen 14-inch, slightly heavier construction, but more powerful hardware and similar prices. Tested product: Asus Vivobook Pro 14X OLED Tested by: Giz.ro Team Rating: 4,25 / 5 Price: from 6500 Lei After many years of abandonment, Asus has revived one of their po[CENSORED]r series of the past, the VivoBook Pro. As in the past, the VivoBook Pro 2021 models are multivalent and balanced products, an interesting mix of portability, performance and OLED screens, in packages with competitive prices. We will cover the whole VivoBook Pro family in future articles, and here we will discuss perhaps the most interesting model in this series, the VivoBook Pro 14X M7400QE. It is built on a full-power AMD platform, up to configurations with Ryzen 9 5900HX, along with Nvidia RTX mid-range graphics solutions and a 14-inch 2.8K 90Hz OLED screen with 100% DCI-P3 coverage. Asus markets this VivoBook Pro 14X as intended for everyday use and content creators, in terms of high-performance hardware, good quality panel display, and relatively compact and portable construction, available at a price starting at about 6,500 lei at launch in the case of the configuration tested by us. Construction and design The VivoBook Pro 14X is reasonably priced for a 14-inch laptop with such a hardware configuration. In comparison, the Razer Blade 14 is slightly shorter and shorter, but wider and much heavier, while the Zephyrus G14 is bigger, thicker and heavier. It's true that these laptops are even better, especially in terms of graphics, but the VivoBook Pro 14X remains a balanced portable system that balances power and size well. The case is made entirely of metal, thus offering a pleasant feeling of firmness and good resistance to pressure or torsion. In addition, it is not undermined by unpleasant noises when pressed or raised by the edges. The design is not as attractive or exclusive as in the case of more expensive laptops, but beyond the unattractive rough texture of the screen frame, we have little to complain about. What I liked most was the redesigned cover and decorated with an embossed logo, even if I could have lived happily ever after without the hashtags and inspirational messages that accompany it. The VivoBook Pro 14X is available in both white / silver and dark gray. Normally, I would have been attracted to the darker version, but the new ASUS laptop is not affected by the problem noticed in the previous white models of the company because it uses a gray keyboard. This avoids the annoying problem of low readability of the white keys due to the very low contrast when using the lighting system, the VivoBook Pro 14X being much less annoying from this point of view. Another good change is the abandonment of the old Power button with built-in LED indicator, which was annoying in the dark, in favor of one with a fingerprint sensor. Moreover, the rest of the lights have been moved to the sides, good news for those who want to use the laptop in the dark for video playback or work. The laptop is practical because the rubber feet ensure a firm grip on the desk, the edges or corners are chamfered and do not threaten the wrists, and the screen can be easily opened with one hand. The screen hinge is soft enough to be operated easily and hard enough to hold the screen open in any position, with only a maximum aperture of 150 degrees being a bit small for an ultra-portable.
