The sale price was below the specialists' estimates, based on the amounts obtained at other similar auctions.
A computer from the legendary "Apple-I" generation, one of the first personal computers in history, was awarded 110,000 euros at an auction held on Saturday in Germany.

"From our point of view, it's back to normal. Five years after the death of Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, the frenzy has returned to normal," said Uwe Breker, commissioner of the auction in Cologne.

The Breker auction house, which specializes in "technological antiques", had estimated that the sale price would be between 180,000 and 300,000 euros for this famous computer, which is still in working order. It was put up for sale along with the purchase invoice, instruction manual and various documents of the original owner - a Californian engineer.

The device, one of the 200 "Apple-I" models put up for sale by a company recently founded at the time by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak, was bought by a German engineer who owns a collection of old computers.

Worldwide, only eight Apple-I models are still in operation. Their rarity and a real cult that emerged around Apple, amplified after the death of Steve Jobs, made the amounts paid at auctions for such personal computers reach record levels.

Another copy of the same range was sold in 2013 for 516,000 euros at an auction also organized by Breker.
