Formula E is not another car competition, but rather it opens the door to a technological laboratory that drives Innovation, promotes the purchase and use of electric cars around the world.

Julia Pallé, Director of Sustainability of Formula E, described exclusively for Forbes Mexico that in July 2020 this championship became the first in the world to obtain ISO20121 certification, by the external certification body SGS, being the only championship of motor sports with this recognition by not emitting carbon dioxide or CO2.

“Formula E is more than an electric car championship because it was created by two different important pillars: on the one hand racing and on the other hand the reason for sustainability. The objective of having created the championship is to promote electrical technology and help the world have a more sustainable lifestyle and this is reflected in the championship ”, he reiterated.

The directive explained that the cars that are part of Formula E are powered mostly by hydrogen-treated vegetable oil and recognized that the development of electric cars in the last 10 years has become a successful alternative to boost the clean mobility and free of CO2 emissions.

“Formula E was created not because we needed another car championship but because we needed a technological laboratory to accelerate technology and it is the reason why Formula E has more manufacturing because it is the opportunity to and test the technology that they are going to transmit in the cars that tomorrow to drive and drive ”, added Pallé.

Formula E will take place in Mexico City on February 12, 2022 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez. In addition, it currently has an agreement with UNICEF to guarantee the fight against climate change through CO2 compensation programs.

"We have a project in Mexico that will last three years to help three cities have projects in schools to help children so that they can build a more sustainable future, with measures from schools to combat climate change."

The Formula E board assured that its main ambitions are to use 100% renewable energy for the Championship.

“In 2020 we achieved this status as the first sport in the world to be carbon free and it is the result of six years of understanding the sources of emissions from the championship. We did our own scientific studies to have the data and with we have taken actions to reduce the impact that the championship generates with renewable energy, we do not use plastics and the work we have done with DHL ”.

He also reiterated that it is key to maintain dialogues with governments to promote infrastructure that allows vehicles to be loaded, in addition to investing in infrastructure that promotes the use of these cars.

"It is very encouraging that automakers are moving towards the electric future and it gives me hope that politicians will push for laws to end the sale of motor vehicles because something super important is that governments have pressure from the United Nations to" lower C02 emissions or almost a third of global emissions ", concluded Pallé.

For the 9 series, Formula E will integrate the vehicles with an increase in power that will go from 250 kW that allows 100 km / h in just 2.8 seconds, to 300 kW.
