  • Other Information: School was never of interest to him, so, soon after finishing his studies, he started working as a waiter, for a while, in a bar, a place that made him wake up to the world of electronic music and to start being a DJ, it was also when he started producing music. Finally, he signed with his first label, Once Records, where he subsequently released the tracks "Privilege" and "Qwerty". Shortly thereafter the track titled "Funktion One" was released. From that moment on everything quickly changed. Dutch DJ and producer Madskillz signed "Funktion One" with Azucar (Madskillz and Gregor Salto's record label) in conjunction with the track "Hear My Sound". In 2009, he remixed Sidney Samson and Tony Cha Cha's track "Get on the Floor", and also did a bootleg for David Guetta's "When Love Takes Over". Both tracks got a lot of publicity, which prompted Ministry of Sound to contact him to remix some tracks from the label. Gradually, some videos were appearing on YouTube, with several DJs playing Nicky Romero's bootleg from "When Love Takes Over". In the same year, he also remixed the track "Alamo" by Dirty South.
  • In 2010, Nicky came up with a new track called "My Friend" (released by Spinnin'), which features a preview of the well-known Groove Armada track, which has the same name. The combination of Groove Armada and Romero's innovative sound resulted in a great track. "My Friend" was performed by Tiesto, Axwell, Fedde le Grand, Sander van Doorn and many more. This track reached #4 on the Beatport main rankings, #1 on the Dance-Tunes charts and several other famous DJ rankings. In 2011, we saw Romero release many remixes such as David Guetta's "Where The Girls At" with Flo Rida and Nicki Minaj, Alex Gaudino's "What A Feeling" with Kelly Rowland, Erick Morillo & Eddie Thoneick's "Stronger" with Shawnee Taylor, "Where Is The Love" by Eddie Thoneick and "Rockin' High" by Ben Liebrand.
