The Minister of National Security, Aníbal Fernández, confirmed yesterday in a press conference at the Casa Rosada the dispatch of 575 federal troops to Santa Fe and the establishment of a mobile Gendarmerie unit in Rosario, with the aim of combating drug trafficking .

 

 

 

At the same time, Fernández stressed that the situation of the people of Santa Fe with regard to insecurity competed with all Argentines. At the same time, until March, another 1,000 policemen will arrive in the province.

 

Also, the Chief of Staff, Juan Manzur, stressed that President Alberto Fernández had instructed that efforts be redoubled, and that there was a plan to be agreed upon and put into operation.

 

Previously, the one replaced by Aníbal Fernández, Sabina Frederic, had affirmed on September 9 that the City of Buenos Aires had a higher level of drug trafficking than Rosario, days after the Rosario citizens suffered six murders in 24 hours.

 

The meeting was also attended by the person in charge of the Interior area, Eduardo De Pedro; and the governor of Santa Fe, Omar Perotti, who warned that the national government had taken the issue as its own.
