[Auto/Moto] They submit a project to change state vehicles for electric units

With the argument that it currently represents the best option for clean energy applied to transportation, a draft resolution was submitted to the Senate of the Republic that proposes to replace the fleet of state vehicles with electric units.

The proposal states that electric vehicles do not produce greenhouse gases or generate noise pollution, in addition to the fact that their performance is much higher than those of fossil combustion. He brings up that President Luis Abinader himself, with the personal use of electric vehicles, shows his vision of sustainable development.

The motion presented by Senator Franklin Rodríguez Garabito establishes that the centralized and decentralized institutions of the State have the appropriate infrastructure conditions for the installation of supply load units.

"That the conversion of the fleet of state vehicles to electric units would represent a considerable cost reduction for fuel refilling, which translates into significant savings for the state coffers", the piece refers in one of its considering .

 

 

It also establishes that with this measure the Government would put the Dominican Republic at the forefront of the fight against climate change, since it would become among the Latin American nations with the most innovative actions to promote clean energy.

The project requests the Presidency to instruct the General Directorate of Public Procurement to present a regulatory mechanism that guarantees the supervision of the appraisal and sale process of the state units to be replaced, via an electronic portal.

It also advocates the installation of electric energy recharging units, equipped with solar panels, to be arranged in the parking lots of the different centralized and decentralized public institutions, for the proper supply. It proposes to extend the provision to the units of the Metropolitan Office of Bus Services, in order to contribute to the implementation of ecologically sustainable means of transport.
