Saints Row is a sandbox-style action-adventure video game, It was developed by Volition, Inc. and published by THQ. The game bears great resemblance to the successful Grand Theft Auto series due to the "free" gameplay, being a parody of Zero Dark Thirty. A single player demo was released via Xbox Live Marketplace on August 1, 2006. The game was released on August 29, 2006 in North America and on September 1, 2006 in the UK, Europe, and Australia.

Saints Row is an action-adventure video game series created by Volition and published by THQ and Deep Silver. The Saints Row series games are set in fictional locations during the current time period, primarily in the American cities of Stilwater and Steelport. The game focuses on an open world environment where the player can complete missions to progress through an overall story, as well as participate in various side activities. Like other crime-related open-world titles, most of the game revolves around shooting and driving, but the series became known for its comic elements, including po[CENSORED]r culture tributes, parodies, and self-referential humor as well. as its exaggerated character, more evident from the third game. All the games revolve around the 3rd Street Saints gang, who are initially based in the eponymous Saint's Row district and trying to get to the top of the criminal underworld; Subsequent games changed the premise, turning the Saints into a highly influential media and consumer empire. The player character is fully customizable and starts out as a low-ranking member of the Saints, but eventually becomes the leader of the gang; position they hold in most games.

The game takes place in a fictional town called Stilwater. Our character, which we can create with a multitude of options at the beginning of the game, is saved from a gang war by the 3rd Street Saints, so he will join them and get involved in a war to lead the streets of Stilwater. Thus, the player (who by the way never mentions his name and hardly speaks during the game) helps the Saints to finish, one by one with the gangs of the city, in order to have total control of each and every one of illicit activities. The Saints are led by Julius, and his lieutenants Dex, Troy, Johnny Gat and Lin. They are a small band in Stilwater, who are under attack by the band "Los Carnales". The character joins them after they put him to the test, forcing him to defend himself from the blows of his own companions, and then ask him for help to end the invasion of the carnal.

After completing Red Faction II in late 2002, developer Volition began work on the original Saints Row game in mid-2004. The game was released in 2006 to critical acclaim and commercial success. The sequel, Saints Row 2, was released in 2008 to similar acclaim and greater commercial success. The third entry in the series, Saints Row: The Third, was released on November 15, 2011 and was the last Saints Row video game published by THQ before Deep Silver took over the rights in 2013. The fourth entry in the series, Saints Row IV was released on August 20, 2013, with a standalone expansion called Gat out of Hell released on January 20, 2015 in North America and on January 23, 2015 in Europe. As of September 2013, the series has had sales of over 13 million, making it one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time.
