Although US President Donald Trump has yet to admit that he lost the election to his Democratic rival, Joe Biden; But, on Wednesday, he issued a presidential pardon for his former national security adviser, Michael Flynn, amid expectations of other pardons before he left office.

Trump may use his broad authority to pardon, to include his allies, some relatives, and perhaps he personally. In an attempt to settle some legal issues before leaving the White House

The US President’s tweets in recent years indicate that he is intending to pardon a number of officials who were subject to Counselor Robert Mueller's investigations regarding allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 US elections

According to "Sky News Arabia," the question may be the most important looming on the horizon Is whether Trump will consider granting himself a presidential pardon, amid investigations into his business and money in New York, and the possibility that federal investigators will scrutinize his financial and tax activities after he left office.

Constitutional law expert Kenneth Belkin says: “The US Constitution states that the US President’s ability to pardon is unlimited. Except for pardoning himself in the event of impeachment proceedings against him.

But Belkin stressed that, "Trump will be able to pardon himself in federal cases only, and he will not be able to do so regarding his cases before the New York State Attorney and the Manhattan District Attorney, for example."

Former Trump aides are divided over whether the US president will actually consider granting himself amnesty, and some see it as almost certain. While others think it is unlikely; Because doing so means that he is guilty of something

Belkin pointed out that among those who may benefit from Trump's pardon campaign, "some former associates with his campaign, who were convicted after the Mueller investigation, such as George Papadopoulos, Paul Manafort and others."

The constitutional law expert adds that “Trump may issue a preventive presidential pardon for his children. In anticipation of any future prosecutions against them. ”

Trump has long believed that he has been targeted and campaigned illegally, and that his campaign partners have encountered problems because of their association with him.

Sources say that other potential beneficiaries of Trump's pardon include Charles Kushner, Jared Kushner's father, as well as Trump's personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who is under a federal investigation.
