HiTLeR
Egypt sought to contain a crisis with Kuwait, after investigations conducted by Cairo with an Egyptian official, and his removal from his post, due to statements deemed "offensive". The Egyptian Ministry of Manpower stressed that it had “taken legal measures immediately against the person responsible for this abuse.” It is considered "a transgression and a breach, and it is not related to the Egyptian government from near or far, as what was issued by this official came through his personal page on the communication site." The day before yesterday, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry summoned the Egyptian ambassador to Kuwait, Tariq Al-Quni. And it expressed its "dissatisfaction with the statements targeting Kuwait and its symbols, to the assistant of the Egyptian Minister of Manpower through the means of communication," describing them as "shameful practices." Officially, the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry called on the Egyptian authorities to “take legal measures against the abuse issued, to find out the circumstances and the reasons behind their issuance, in preparation for taking appropriate legal measures to deter these practices and restore fraternal relations between the two countries.” In its statement, the "Manpower" revealed that it "removed the Deputy Minister of Manpower from his post, in addition to referring him to investigation before a high-level legal committee to investigate the matter." The "Manpower" also issued an official statement "denouncing and completely rejecting the insult of the sisterly State of Kuwait and its symbols issued by one of its officials." The relations between the two countries, at the unofficial level, have witnessed tensions over the past few months, due to quarrels between some citizens, and contacts on communication sites. Last September, “Egypt and Kuwait contained a crisis sparked by a video, which was widely circulated, and which showed a beating of an Egyptian resident in Kuwait. According to officials of the two countries, the legal measures followed in such incidents were taken, which ended with "an apology to the Egyptian citizen, as well as reconciliation between them." Last August, the Kuwaiti embassy in Cairo denounced an Egyptian YouTube video clip that “included a call by passers-by in the street to burn the Kuwaiti flag in exchange for $ 500”. However, all passers-by refused, and showed their adherence to the relations of mutual respect and brotherhood with Kuwait. Last July, the Kuwaiti authorities arrested a citizen who slapped an Egyptian worker in a store, after a widespread condemnation campaign among Egyptians on the communication sites. According to official Kuwaiti statistics, “The number of Egyptians in Kuwait reaches half a million people; The Egyptian labor force comes second in terms of number. The Egyptian and Kuwaiti authorities stress "the importance of preserving the close historical relations between the two countries, and rejecting any attempts to wreak havoc." Previously, the "Egyptian Foreign Ministry" accused what it called "malicious actors" of being behind such events. Last August, she stressed "the strength of the fraternal relations between Egypt and Kuwait, both people and the state." For its part, the Egyptian "workforce" affirmed in its statement yesterday, "its keenness on the close and strong relationship between Egypt and the State of Kuwait, people and state, especially in light of the participation of the citizens of the two countries in joint struggles, in which their smart blood was mixed, in solidarity with each other." Until "these relations enjoy the interest of both sides, and enjoy their mutual eagerness to develop them to broader horizons, in a way that achieves the common interest of the two peoples." A source in the "Manpower" told "Al-Sharq al-Awsat", that "the ministry, upon its knowledge of the incident, was referred to the investigation, and the Minister of Manpower, Muhammad Saafan, confirmed that what happened is an individual act that does not definitively express the ministry." Activists on the communication sites had circulated a post for the assistant minister of manpower, bearing words that angered the Kuwaitis. The post was later deleted. Last Thursday, the "workforce" confirmed that "Kuwait is a country of law and will not do wrong to anyone," following the incident of insulting and beating a Kuwaiti citizen on an Egyptian doctor at her workplace.
