HoldFire 流
The time will have been particularly long! Since August and the launch of the Vega reference models, we have been waiting for the arrival of custom models at AMD's various partners. Originally scheduled for September, it is finally at the very end of the year that we finally see the arrival of these first models. We will not go into the reasons for the delays, but the launch of Vega and its limited competitiveness (with respect to promises / expectations and more simply of the competition) was followed by the "rest" of Raja Koduri, then his departure for Intel. Today, these cards are finally arriving and Sapphire is one of the first to draw cards that really push the concept of customs very far. They are decked out as a bonus with a "Limited Edition" label so that no doubt - except on their long-term availability - exists on the choices made by the manufacturer. Any doubt is also removed when we see the cards in practice, or rather when we take them in hand. At 1.5 kg for 31.2 cm long, these cards are really impressive, even for custom models. A profusion of resources, sometimes curious, but which will not fail to surprise. Compensate for some of Vega's weaknesses? During our preview dedicated to Vega this summer, we retained two main points: an architecture that lags in efficiency compared to the competition a benchmark cooling system not up to standard, particularly on the issue of noise If AMD's partners cannot do much on the first point, on the second they have complete freedom of course, which was worth some expectations. Beyond these cards, we will also see in practice how Vega behaves in these conditions where he should be a little more comfortable.
