It was only hours after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that his country was ready for dialogue with Egypt and Greece, until the response came from Cairo condemning and surprising.

Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced the Turkish Foreign Minister’s conversation with one of the local channels there, and said that the conversation contained in various references a negative approach about the political developments Egypt witnessed related to the “June 30 Revolution”, which confirms the continued adherence to The allegations are completely contrary to reality and serve certain ideological orientations.

The Egyptian official also announced his country's complete rejection of the Turkish approach, noting that continuing to talk about Egypt in this negative tone, and with this degree of contradiction, dedicates the lack of credibility regarding any allegation by seeking to create the appropriate climate for establishing relations based on respect and adherence to the rules of international legitimacy.

Erdogan: We are open for dialogue with Cairo
These developments came hours after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan made statements to reporters in Istanbul, Friday, when he said: “We have no objection to dialogue with Egypt, holding intelligence talks with Cairo is a different and possible thing, and there is nothing to prevent that, but its agreement with Greece saddened us. ”

In his speech, Erdogan added that his country is ready for dialogue with Greece in a third country or via video, adding: “We do not have a problem meeting with the Greek Prime Minister, but the fundamental question is, what will we discuss and in which framework will we meet?”

It is noteworthy that Turkey had previously considered the Egyptian-Greek maritime border demarcation agreement, which was signed in early August in Cairo, as "null", noting that it "also violates Libyan maritime rights."

A few days ago, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry confirmed that the blatant Turkish practices and interventions in many Arab countries represent the most important emerging threats to Arab national security, stressing that Egypt will not remain idle in the face of these ambitions.

In a speech before the Arab Ministerial Committee on Turkish Interventions within the framework of the activities of the 154th regular session of the League of Arab States Council, he added that Egypt will not stand idly by in the face of Turkish ambitions that are manifesting in northern Iraq, Syria and Libya in particular.

In the context, he also expressed Egypt's support for Iraq in the face of the ongoing Turkish aggressions on its borders and the measures it takes in the face of these blatant interventions.

It is noteworthy that the agreement between Greece and Egypt, which “saddened” Turkey, was considered a response to the Turkish-Libyan agreement signed at the end of 2019, which allowed Ankara to reach a large area in the eastern Mediterranean, where large gas reserves were discovered in recent years.

The treaty allows Egypt and Greece to make the most of the resources available in the exclusive economic zone, especially oil and gas reserves.
