HiTLeR
US President Donald Trump and his Democratic rival in the upcoming elections, Joe Biden, have traded accusations about the wildfires raging in the American West. Biden said that Trump, a Republican, had not recognized his role in global warming, which he said had led to the current fires. Dozens of fires have erupted on an unprecedented scale across more than four million acres in Oregon, California and Washington states since August, devastating small towns and destroying thousands of homes and killing at least 35 people. Biden criticized, in statements in Delaware, Trump's failure to visit disaster areas. Biden was talking about the threat of increasingly frequent weather events, which scientists say are evidence that climate change is fueling fires. “If we had another four years of Trump's climate denial, how many suburbs would the wildfires come in?” How many neighborhoods will be covered by the water? Trump denies responsibility On the other hand, Trump met with firefighters and officials in California after his Democratic rivals criticized him for remaining silent about wildfires. When asked by a journalist whether climate change was a factor behind the fires, Trump said: "I think this is more about management." Trump stressed that other countries “do not have this problem,” without mentioning the large forest fires that have broken out elsewhere in various parts of the world in recent years, from southern Europe to Australia and Siberia. The US President and his administration have sought to blame state officials for the major wildfires. Trump said improving forest management is something that can be achieved quickly, while climate change will take more time and require international cooperation, he said the world is lacking.
