HiTLeR
Austria is witnessing the beginning of a "second wave" of the new Corona virus epidemic, its leader said, Sunday, asking citizens to comply with the strengthened rules to stop new cases and suggesting that companies keep employees working from home if possible. Austria went through a relatively successful first phase of the epidemic, but it joined other European countries that have seen an increase in the number of infections in recent weeks. The country recorded 869 new infections on Friday, the highest daily number since late March. Counselor Sebastian Curtis announced that the government would re-impose measures such as the mandatory wearing of masks in stores. "What we are witnessing now is the beginning of the second wave in Austria," he said after a government meeting with business owners and workers' representatives in Vienna. He added that about half of the new infections are in the capital, Vienna, but injuries are increasing all over the country. He pointed out that most people contract the infection at family gatherings, birthday parties and other special occasions, but added, "Often this infection is transmitted to work." He said many companies had "good experiences" with their employees working from home. He also stated, "It is logical that this matter continues and expands wherever companies want and where the experiences are positive." Curtis urged companies to improve virus protection at work. He said that things should return to normal next summer, "but until then, the fall and winter will be very difficult." Austria, with a po[CENSORED]tion of about 8.9 million, has recorded more than 33,000 infections and has seen 750 virus-related deaths. Experts say that all the number of cases of the epidemic is less than the real because of the lack of registration of mild cases and the limited testing.
