HiTLeR
Genesis revealed the updated 2022 G70 sedan, which closely resembles the new G80 sedan and all-new GV80 SUV, before it goes on sale in Korea next month. It will be powered by a base 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbo engine with a more powerful dual-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 likely as an option. Expect prices to start at just over $ 37,000 when it goes on sale in the US. Genesis gives the G70 sedan a major redesign for 2022 that makes it look closer to its older sister G80, which took styling advice from its first Genesis SUV: the GV80. The new G70 will also have a (wagon) firing brake model, but we are not sure if it will make its way into the US market. Additionally, Genesis has confirmed that it will not offer a manual transmission in the new G70. The new look, complete with the crest grille and quad-headlamp setup, is similar to that of the recently redesigned 2021 Genesis G80 sedan and the all-new 2021 GV80 SUV. The horizontal two-bar theme continues in the rear of the G70 with the LED taillights, and below that are dual oval exhaust tips and a body-color rear diffuser. This new G70 will also use the same base engine — a 290-hp turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four — as the G80 sedan and GV80 SUV, replacing the previous model's turbo 2.0-liter. It's also likely that a twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6, also found in the two other Genesis vehicles, will replace the G70's existing 3.3-liter. Unfortunately, Genesis has confirmed that it'll no longer offer the six-speed manual transmission, which is currently available on the 2.0T. However, we aren't too upset, since we weren't actually big fans of this particular manual. A 10.3-inch infotainment screen is standard on the 2022 G70, and the new model also comes standard with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability. The rest of the interior gets a more simplistic update as well, and Genesis flipped the wireless charging pad to a horizontal layout to fit larger phones. The 2022 Genesis G70 will go on sale in South Korea next month and should follow in the U.S., starting just over $ 37,000, sometime by the end of the year or early next. We'll know more details about the redesigned G70 sedan soon.
