[Auto] MG Gloster, the largest, most luxurious and complete SUV of the British firm

Do you remember Morris Garages? We refer to MG, the same one that walked hand in hand with Rover until bankruptcy separated them forever. This mythical English firm, thanks to the money of the Chinese manufacturer SAIC, has been able to resurface, although not as more than one fan of the automotive sector would have liked. The proof is that the European market does not accept it, showing total indifference to the models it has launched.

However, its fate has been very different in other regions of the world. The proof is in the reception it has had in areas such as South America or Asia. This situation has been due to the fact that they have managed to create an attractive range of models that stands out for a highly valued price-product ratio. Now they return to the fray with the new MG Gloster, which in its own right will be their biggest, most complete and luxurious all-road.

On a technical level the MG Gloster is based on the Maxus D90

The official debut of the MG Gloster took place a few months ago, but it will not be until now that it has an event of its own. On a technical level, it is a carbon copy of the Maxus D90, so it will keep the 5 meters in length, 1.93 meters in width and 1.87 meters in height. The wheelbase remains at 2.95 meters, the same as the D90 ladder chassis. However, and although the aesthetic is also shared, there would be some differences.

Highlights include an octagonal grille with chrome slats, LED headlights with DRL daytime running lights, round chrome bezel fog lamps, and sculpted bumpers and hood. Also featured is a set of two-tone alloy wheels, bold shoulder creases, chrome around the window line, chrome door handles, LED taillights and roof rails.

Regarding the interior there are no images yet, although it is likely that it shares a large number of elements with the Maxus D90. However, the infotainment system that includes the i-Smart voice control system that understands more than 100 voice commands will stand out. In addition, it will come with an integrated e-SIM that is independent of the user's phone to service the suite of applications and integrated navigation system.

Finally, it is time to talk about the mechanical family. First there will be a 2.0-liter turbo petrol block paired with a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission. The second option is provided by a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine mated with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The first generates 224 hp of power and 360 Nm of maximum torque, while the second offers 217 hp and a maximum torque of 480 Nm.

However, and although it offers an attractive design and a high level of technology, do not expect it in Europe. For now it will be available in India, although later it could reach countries such as Brazil or Argentina.
