Alpha Tauri set a deadline in September to specify what gearbox properties it will supply from Red Bull next year, even if its older sister takes longer to develop the can.

As part of the close partnership between the two teams owned by Red Bull, Alpha Tauri will continue to supply a number of components from Red Bull, including suspension, gearbox and hydraulic systems.

When asked by our Motorsport.com website about how the business relationship has changed as a result of the 2021 changes, Franz Toast, Team Manager of Alpha Tauri, said: “We will also have front and rear suspension, gearbox and hydraulic systems with design next year.”

He added, "But the decision will be taken in August / September when Red Bull makes its decision either to choose the gearbox that it will use either or that it will continue the development process in the air tunnel (i.e. continue to work on the gearbox).
