In his short ten years he already knows the disease that prevents him from doing the things that any child of his age would like to do. Therefore, doctors from the Support Hospital 2 of Sullana, in Piura, ask for help for the child who suffers from ectodermal dysplasia syndrome, a rare disease that causes scales similar to that of a fish in different parts of the body .

The surgeon Joe Quedena Álamo who is in charge of his case, said that the child is from the El Tallán district of Lower Piura, where he lives with his mother who washes clothes and his father, who is prostrated by a stroke.

“After being evaluated by dermatologist doctors, he was diagnosed with ectodermal dysplasia, whose cases in the world, there are one in every one million. The evil causes the hair to start to fall out, the skin is scaled and the nails are filled with fungus, ”said the doctor.

He added that he made contacts with doctors from the Daniel A. Carrión Hospital in Lima who evaluated the case via teleconference and indicated that it is a genetic disease and that the child will have to be transferred to the capital for their respective treatment.

But in the meantime, you need medications such as a syrup of 129 soles, a cream of 65 and a shampoo of 70 soles that makes the disease not progress rapidly and can be contained, while being taken to Lima.

The doctor said that after the inquiries he made, the disease would have been contracted by contact with a herbicide called glyphosate used in the plots, and that in developed countries it has been banned for bringing cancer to the skin, stomach and respiratory tract.

"We want the people of the north to become aware and try to opt for the organic products that come out cheaper, and not for insecticides that are a danger," said the doctor.
