With a completely reformulated team, whose payroll was only seven members of the squad that was proclaimed champion in the final series, plus the inclusion of 15 reinforcements, Cardinals of Lara faces the responsibility of representing Venezuela in the 61st edition of the Series of the Caribbean, which will be played today in the Hiram Bithorn Park, in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

For the second consecutive season, the red birds intervene in the maximum competition of champion clubs of the Caribbean region, this time with experience of five raids and as the most officiated cast in the event, together with the crab hosts of Santurce, between half a dozen competitors.

Rookie manager Luis Ugueto will try to preserve the inspiration that has characterized him since he took over the Larense club in November.

Ugueto, who was a member of the last Venezuelan champion in the tournament, as a reinforcement for the Aragua Tigers, in Mexicali 2009, will have to completely adjust his pieces for this demanding commitment. Of the headlines, it only has Osman Marval, Carlos Rivero and Wellington Dotel, while among the pitchers remain the opener Ángel Palumbo and the fire extinguishers Jesús Sánchez, Ricardo Gómez and Pedro Rodríguez. The rest cannot accompany the club because they do not have a visa to enter Puerto Rico.

Among the pieces that added to the payroll are the dangerous gunners Adonis García, René Reyes and Gorkys Hernández, plus the defensive efficiency of the infielders Alí Castillo and Alexi Amarista and the receiver Juan Apodaca next to the arms of Francisley Bueno, Wilfredo Ledezma, Logan Darnell and Mayckol Guaipe.
