Researchers say the group of giant caves is one of the largest clusters of such caves found in the country, comparing it to the largest cluster of underwater caves in the world, also located in China.

The Chinese Ministry of Natural Resources has announced that a group of scientists have discovered a giant cluster of 19 natural huge cave formations in a forest between the cities of Changsiang and Long in the southern Napo region of Vietnam.

The 19 caves are reported to be scattered "like a string of beads" around the 60-kilometer-long Dingay River basin. at a depth of 292 meters.

The volume of each of the caves is more than one million cubic meters, and all are located at an altitude of more than 1,000 meters, according to a statement issued by the ministry, which also publishes photos and video from inside the caves.

 

According to Chinese authorities, the discovery could lead to a significant jump in revenue from geological tourism in Napo, known for its karst geological formations.

Beijing claims that it has the deepest underwater cave in the world, as well as the largest underwater cave cluster on the planet.
