Ducati has relocated us with the new Panigale V2, which replaces 959 and adopts the aesthetics of the V4. The fact that it is called V2 and not 959 (or 969, or whatever it touches now) makes it clear that the new Panigale is the little sister of the V4 and not a separate bug, because it shares philosophy and technology with that of four cylinders.

You were surprised - I think everyone - that the displacement has not increased to compensate for the Euro5 and thus, incidentally, increase a few CVs and the pair, but it seems clear that Ducati does not want to have the enemy at home and wants to separate clearly both versions.

The exhaust system leaves the double exit of the 959 for another single exit, much more integrated in the set.

The engine continues to cube the 955 c.c. from before, but, despite meeting the Euro5, it gains 5 hp (now 155 hp at 10,750 rpm) and a slight increase in torque (from 2 Nm, now 104 Nm), based on new intake ducts and injectors.

As for the cycle part, now assemble a beautiful single-arm swingarm, such as the V4, and the geometries are different, with a wheelbase of 1,436 mm (before 1,431 mm) and a weight distribution of 52/48.

The suspensions are a Showa BPF fork and a Sachs ZF mono shock. The declared weight is 178 kg empty and 200 kg in running order.

The TFT instrument panel arrives, as in the older sister, with the package now called «Safe Performance», with ABS Cornering, DTC EVO2 predictive traction control (which improves its efficiency in the 25% grip loss phase and quickshifter 'up & down'.

The V4 2020, with standard ailerons

The new V4 have been refined, and thus the electronic gas Ride by Wire has new parameters to improve the performance of the set. Also the suspensions have modified their adjustments and the cranks of the shock absorber, to raise a little the rear part.

The standard V4 and the V4 S now mount the ailerons of the R. Ducati says that at 270 km / h they offer up to 28 kg of pressure, thus gaining stability at high speed.
