Simon Evans, older brother of Mitch Evans, was the winner of the first race of the Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy, the first mono-brand series dedicated to electric vehicles, which accompanies Formula E. Only 12 cars to start, but 20 are expected very soon. A mono-brand series that does not only have the uniqueness of its electric motorization but also that the cars chosen are SUVs. It is true that the SUVs are heavy, large, with a high center of gravity, but the I-PACE is Jaguar's first electric car and starts the way of electrifying the brand.

Jaguar chose an SUV for it because they are the cars most desired by the public. Evans, the winner, has been New Zealand Supercar champion, and has controlled the race from start to finish from the Pole, although always with Bryan Sellers and Sérgio Jimenez hot on his heels, and with Cacá Bueno and Stefan Radzinski not far from them waiting for an opportunity. The first three opened a more important gap when Radzinski played Bueno trying to beat him. The Brazilian controlled the situation, but lost the pace and Radzinski left his damaged front, delaying and gradually losing positions.

All in all, the excitement of the battle for victory was maintained until the end. Sellers made a slight mistake near the end that was enough for Sérgio to overcome him; the Brazilian placed the nose in the interior and Sellers, who had gone long. Great career of Alice Powell, who finished 5th right in front of Katherine Legge. 'La' Powell was the guest driver and although she had been away from competitions for three years, she knew how to recover the punch she showed in her GP3 era.

By the way, Alice played the local 'star' Bandar Alesavi, who lost several positions. The series was interesting. The chronos more closed than it seems. To advance is not easy in these circuits and the classification seems to play a key role in the final results. The Jaguar I-Pace are prepared by M-Sport, Malcolm Wilson, and have 400 HP of power and a torque of almost 700 Nm. And there were no problems managing energy; the battery charge was more than enough for the 22 'plus one lap of the race.
