QNAP introduces the NAS server TS-1685 with Xeon D processor and 16 drawers

QNAP has launched the new Super NAS TS-1685, business class, equipped with 16 drawers for 12 hard drives and four SSDs, six M.2 SSD slots and a powerful Intel Xeon D processor to deliver remarkable performance and capacity high storage. Designed to optimize IT infrastructure in corporations, the TS-1685 comes with three PCIe slots that support NIC 10GbE / 40GbE cards, NVIDIA PCIe SSDs, graphics cards and USB 3.1 extension cards, delivering complete storage solutions that involve security and scalability.

The TS-1685 is powered by the Intel Xeon D multi-core high performance processor and 128GB of DDR4 RAM to achieve speeds of up to 2.339 MB / s in a 10GbE dual-band configuration. The four dedicated 2.5-inch solid state drives and the six M2 SATA 6Gb / s SSD M.2 SATA slots excel in cache acceleration, and when coupled with Qtier technology, the TS-1685 can continuously optimize storage efficiency across all drives including the optional SSD PCIe NVMe.

The TS-1685 supports advanced IT management features, including the centralized QRM + network management solution that helps IT administrators discover, identify, monitor, and manage network devices (including servers, PCs and thin clients).
QRM + also supports IPMI 2.0 and topology graphics. Q'center transforms the TS-1685 into a centralized system for the management of multiple NAS QNAPs from different locations and enables system logs monitoring, activation of maintenance procedures, and firmware updates. Not only does the TS-1685 High Capacity Server support the most widespread virtualization environments (including VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Hyper-V and Windows Server 2012 R2) but can host multiple virtual machines for Windows, Linux, UNIX and Android directly using Virtualization Station and operating LXC and Docker containerized applications with Containers Station.

Users can enjoy the TS-1685 as a NAS all-in-one for file sharing between platforms, backup / restore, security, and the use of a wide range of QNAP productivity applications. Qsync allows synchronization of files between devices and between team folders; Qsirch text search engine helps to quickly identify files on the server; Qfiling automatically organizes files based on a set schedule; QmailAgent allows centralized management of multiple email accounts and IMAP servers; Notes Station is an online download tool for notes and allows collaborative writing; The TS-1685 also provides VPN server and client support, as well as a professional IP video surveillance system.
In addition to connecting four QNAP extension units (REXP-1000 Pro) to scale up storage capacity, the TS-1685 can be expanded by using VJBOD (Virtual JBOD) to allow unused space on another QNAP NAS to be mounted as a local disk for sharing, apps, and even creating another LUN.
