Promote breastfeeding in Caracas

In El Valle, Catia and the Metro there are days about breastfeeding

ÚN.- The Ministry of the Po[CENSORED]r Power for Health, as well as several centers dedicated to the support and promotion of breastfeeding, carry out a series of activities dedicated to the whole family to celebrate the World Breastfeeding Week.

This Friday, at 10:00 a breastfeeding promotion activity will be carried out in the Hugo Chavez Maternal and Child Hospital, in El Valle, said AVN.

On Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. in La Vega, there will be a circle of pregnant women and lactating mothers, as well as a scarf making workshop.

On Sunday, from 8:00 am, there will be a day of recreation in the Parque Alí Primera, in Catia, where educational activities will be carried out, a walk and a dance practice.

The Metro de Caracas will join the celebration of the Breastfeeding Week, on Monday, with the installation of an exhibition and the activation of the musical thread in the underground transport, both dedicated to the promotion of this beneficial and profitable practice.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, will be the closing of the commemoration of the date with a tribute to Hipólita Bolívar, who was a wet nurse of the Liberator Simón Bolívar. Later, there will be a musical act at the National Pantheon, starting at 9:00 a.m.

Breastfeeding is a pillar of life

From the 1st to the 6th of August the World Maternal Breastfeeding Week is celebrated, established in 1992 by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Unicef. This year the campaign has the motto: "Pillar of life", in order to highlight the benefits of the act of breastfeeding in nutrition and poverty reduction.
