Suarez™ Posted July 20, 2016 Posted July 20, 2016 With help from Dad, a terminal kidney cancer diagnosis doesn't slow this enthusiast down When diagnosed with a rare cancer known as hereditary leiomyomatosis and renal cell cancer (HLRCC) at age 19, Andrew Lee’s life goal of owning a Nissan GT-R seemed like it might be permanently out of reach. Pulling the ultimate dad move, Lee’s father took him down to a Nissan dealer and made his son’s dream come true. Lee started taking his stone-stock GT-R to car meets and started making friends in the GT-R community. Eventually, Lee turned to the folks at APAC body shop to help turn his GT-R into a billboard for his own charity, “Driven to Cure.” Aside from the Liberty Walk body kit and other aesthetic mods, Lee claims his GT-R sports around 700 hp with just basic bolt-on performance parts, along with Takata racing harnesses and a roll cage to keep him safe. Somehow, Lee was able to trick his department of motor vehicles into the license plate “F Cancr” for his now-orange Nissan. The ultra-appropriate plate has since become a hashtag for Lee's cause. Check out this 10-minute documentary that dives into Lee’s journey with the GT-R, his disease and a nearly fatal appendectomy.
