The Hollywood Reporter(opens in new tab) says Duke Nukem, the most infamously failed musclehead in videogame history, is headed to the big screen. The rights to a Duke Nukem film project have been picked up by Legendary Entertainment, according to the report, while Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, the creators of the Cobra Kai television series, are signed as producers. In some ways, it's a natural fit. Duke Nukem was originally created as a simplistic parody of 1980s action heroes, after all: He was all action, ass-kicking, and half-witted one-liners, and the only thing bigger than his guns were his biceps. The games moved from 2D platformer to 3D FPS in 1996 with Duke Nukem 3D, a brilliantly good shooter that earned criticism for embracing the stereotypes a little too enthusiastically. But in spite of its success, a new game in the series didn't come along until Duke Nukem Forever in 2011, which ejected the parody element and went all-in on "Duke is cool": It was widely panned, and tanked. On the surface, that makes a Duke Nukem film project seem like a risky proposition at best. I like '80s action films, but I appreciate them with appropriate levels of awareness and irony—and honestly, I don't think there's any macho star from that era who's even remotely as douchey as Duke. I sure wouldn't want a Duke Nukem action film played straight. But the involvement of Heald, Hurwitz, and Schlossberg makes me think that there's a chance it could work. Cobra Kai(opens in new tab), which airs on Netflix, is a sequel to the Karate Kid films from the '80s, which is also a terrible idea on its face. Yet it's critically acclaimed and a commercial hit because of the way it subverts those original films: Characters are more developed and complex, bad guys struggle to be better (some of them, anyway), and through it all there's a subtle acknowledgement of the essential ridiculousness of the whole thing: Why are Ralph Macchio and William Zabka still so eager to beat the shit out of each other 40 years later? It's not hard to imagine a similar approach being taken with Duke, and I think it could be very effective. And it's not as though the concept of an anachronistic, not-too-bright "hero" forced to grapple with the realities of a world that's left him behind is a new and fresh concept: Mike Myers used it to turn himself into a superstar with the Austin Powers trilogy. A Gearbox rep confirmed that The Hollywood Reporter report is accurate, but did not comment on whether it will be directly involved in the project. A writer and director for the film have not yet been signed. https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/a-duke-nukem-movie-is-coming-from-the-makers-of-cobra-kai/

https://www.el-carabobeno.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Solskjaer-696x392.jpg Manchester United confirmed this Sunday the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as team manager, after the 4-1 defeat against Watford. The Norwegian leaves after almost three years as coach of the 'Red Devils' and without having won any title in his time as a coach. Solskjaer arrived in December 2018 as an interim, following the dismissal of José Mourinho, and remained as permanent coach in March 2019. This summer he signed his renewal until July 2024. The English team will have to compensate Solskjaer with just over 7 million pounds for his dismissal. “Ole will always be a Manchester United legend and that is why we are very sad to have made this decision. Although the last few weeks have been disappointing, they do not detract from the great job he has done over the past three years to rebuild the club, "United said in a statement. The team is willing to wait until the end of the season to sign a new coach, delegating for the moment the position to Michael Carrick, who has served as second to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The po[CENSORED]r awards category for both fiction and non-fiction had heavyweight nominees like Raghuram Rajan, Shashi Tharoor, Amish Tripathi and Durjoy Dutta vying for the top prizes. Accepting the award for po[CENSORED]r fiction, Twinkle Khanna said, “I'd like to say that writers need to have an inflated sense of self-worth to feel that their work is worthy of someone else's attention and then look at their work objectively. Listen to yourself, create your suggestions and incorporate them. " In her acceptance speech, the actress-turned-author also thanked Sarita Tanwar, Neelam Raaj and Chikki sarkar for making her book 'award-winning'. Khanna's book, ‘Pajamas Are Forgiving’ is about a woman named Anshu, who has difficulty sleeping and therefore checks herself into a spa in Kerala, where such disorders are treated. But she is in for a rude shock when she finds her ex-husband and his younger wife there, and suddenly several unsettling, repressed feelings begin to rush back. The book contains Khanna's signature self-deprecating, wry sense of humor, and tells the story with a deep insight into human nature. Federal agents believe they have gathered sufficient evidence to charge Hunter Biden with tax crimes and a false statement related to a gun purchase and, although the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware has yet to reveal whether it plans to charge the president’s son, a former official told Fox News that a decision could be "imminent." A federal investigation into Hunter has been ongoing since 2018. With the potentially major news hitting the media just weeks before the 2022 midterm elections, Twitter users on both sides of the aisle had strong reactions to reports of possible charges against Hunter Biden. Conservatives mocked the report being broken by the Washington Post following years of media silence and the original story about Hunter Biden's laptop being buried as "Russian disinformation" ahead of the 2020 election. Washington Examiner executive editor Seth Mandel wrote, "looking forward to the ‘obviously a Russian disinfo op’ letter signed by all the decorated intel officials." "Obviously, the Russians are involved in setting up Hunter Biden! Also the Saudis! And even Q-Anon!" Radio host Jason Rantz joked. Actor Daniel Bostic tweeted, "Charging Hunter Biden for tax and firearm crimes is like charging Harvey Weinstein for mortgage fraud." James Bradley, who is running as a Republican in California for U.S. Senate, similarly joked, "Charging Hunter Biden for tax crimes and a false gun statement is like charging Alec Baldwin with a misdemeanor for murdering Halyna Hutchins." Ricochet editor-in-chief Jon Gabriel tweeted, "but wapo told me this was russian disinformation." "Finally, they'll let him keep getting away with it," Substack writer Jim Treacher wrote. Liberal Twitter users, however, were upset this leak came out only weeks before the midterm elections and demanded equal action from the Department of Justice in the ongoing investigations into former President Trump. The Nation correspondent Elie Mystal wrote, "Also, since apparently it's okay for @TheJusticeDept to leak now, COULD WE GET SOME INFORMATION ABOUT WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO CHARGE DONALD TRUMP AND HIS PEOPLE FOR THE ATTEMPTED COUP??? Asking for people really concerned about ‘both sides.’" "Right before the 2022 midterms...." The Daily Beast columnist Wajahat Ali wrote. Radio host Dean Obeidallah tweeted, "If Hunter Biden is indicted that means 100% DOJ will be indicting Donald Trump. It's how DOJ gets to appear fair." "Washington Post reporting federal agents have enough evidence to charge Hunter Biden with tax and gun crimes. Fine, if they’re going to charge the son of a sitting president, they sure as hell better charge a former president," NBCUniversal executive editor Mike Sington wrote. Author Don Winslow tweeted, "Turns out Twitter was right. Merrick Garland's DOJ was working on something. They were working on Hunter Biden. AND leaking to The Washington Post 30+ days before the mid-terms in complete violation of the so-called DOJ policy. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/hunter-biden-twitter-explodes-over-news-federal-agents-have-enough-to-file-charges-against-presidents-son/ar-AA12HbKz

Although she has previously expressed a desire to shift away from acting and pursue her passion for antiquities, many people are still surprised by Fox's involvement in "Legends," to her slight annoyance. "It's interesting, because I've been talking about it for so long, but none of those things are the things people bother reading or retaining," she says. "It's always whatever salacious, scandalous, negative thing that people are attracted to. But it's not a new thing for me: I've been in love with it for a long time." Fox, 32, chats with USA TODAY about the show, traveling with her kids and how shooting "Transformers" sparked her interest in archaeology. Question: How long have you been interested in ancient history? Megan Fox: My favorite class in school was Greek mythology. That's the only class I had of that nature and the only one I ever did really well in. I came from the South, where I was raised Pentecostal Christian, and we did a lot of revivals and exorcisms in my church. So I was also always really interested in other religions and just ancient people in general. I didn't go to college, so it's not like I specifically studied archaeology, but I was always in love with the idea of getting to actually be Indiana Jones, and travel around and really explore some of these mysteries. Everybody has something that they're passionate about and for me, just being near some of this stuff is really special. Q: Aside from the discovery that there were many female Viking warriors, what was the most interesting thing you learned shooting the first episode in Norway? Fox: Learning that women were also merchants was totally new to me, because women haven't been represented that way in our history books. You think of being a merchant as a male vocation but it absolutely was full of females. Also, just the fact that they were burying these enormous long ships underground ... as part of a personal grave, and that was really striking for me. Shooting "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" in exotic locales such as Egypt and Jordan deepened Megan Fox's love for archaeology. Q: How did shooting at Stonehenge compare to filming at the Great Pyramids in Giza for the second "Transformers?" Fox: Well, when I was shooting "Transformers," I was 22 and I wasn't thinking about things the same way as I do now. I didn't have the same ideas and philosophies, and now I would have a totally different appreciation and understanding of it. But shooting (in Egypt), I learned some information that actually sparked a deeper curiosity. There was a seed planted there that (explains) why I pursued this show. Get the Staying Apart, Together newsletter in your inbox. Wisdom and distractions for coping with a world changed by coronavirus Delivery: Tues, Sat Your Email Stonehenge was a totally different thing. We were there at 3:30 in the morning, so it was freezing and misty and spooky and mystical. And I feel like there's even less knowledge surrounding Stonehenge. The Egyptians documented almost everything. They didn't document the building of the pyramids, but we know so much more about them than we know about the builders of Stonehenge.

Redmi Note 11 Pro variant could be unveiled soon by the Chinese smartphone company. The Redmi Note 11 lineup, which included the Redmi Note 11 Pro and the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, debuted in India earlier this year. It appears that the Xiaomi sub-brand will soon launch a refreshed model from this series, believed to be bearing the moniker Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023. This handset has been reportedly spotted on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database and has received EEC certifications. According to a recent report by MySmartPrice, a Redmi smartphone bearing the model number 2209116AG has been spotted on the FCC database. The alleged listing suggests that this handset is named as Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023. Furthermore, it mentions that the handset runs on MIUI 13 out-of-the-box, which could be based on Android 12. In related news, a past XiaomiUI report spotted the Redmi 2209116AG model on the IMEI database. The supposed listing in itself did not reveal any details regarding this handset; however, the report speculates that the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 could be a rebadged Redmi Note 10 Pro. If true, then the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 might boast similar specifications to the handset that arrived in India last year. The Redmi Note 10 Pro was priced at Rs. 15,999 for its base 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model at launch. It sports a 6.67-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with 1,200 nits of peak brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC, paired with Adreno 618 GPU. The handset sports a 64-megapixel quad rear camera setup and a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. As of now, Redmi has not officially confirmed the existence of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023. However, considering that the handset has been popping up on many certification sites, we might get an official announcement soon. Buying an affordable 5G smartphone today usually means you will end up paying a "5G tax". What does that mean for those looking to get access to 5G networks as soon as they launch? Find out on this week's episode. Orbital is available on Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and wherever you get your podcasts. When we buy a Mac we are buying a very expensive computer, with a unique operating system and ecosystem. Ideally, before making the investment, we make sure that this equipment will meet all our needs. However, it is true that sometimes we may need a specific tool that is not available in macOS. And, then, we have no choice but to install Windows on the Mac. Although it is true that Apple prefers its equipment to remain within its ecosystem, the company also admits that some users may have special needs. And, for this reason, not only does it not prohibit, but it also facilitates the installation of other systems, such as Windows or Linux, on their Mac computers. Of course, always running in a virtualization layer. Over the years, and with the right tools, it's very easy to install Microsoft's operating system on Apple's computer. Of course, is it really worth it, and are we going to need it? When to install Windows on a Mac There are several reasons that can lead us to install the Microsoft system (for example, the latest Windows 11) on a Mac computer. For example, one of the main ones is that we need to use a Windows program that is not available for Mac. Another very important reason that can lead us to carry out this configuration is to use peripherals with configuration software. If the keyboard or mouse have a configuration and lighting system, we may need Windows to adapt it. This happens, for example, with Razer, since version 3 of the program does not support macOS. If we are going to use the Mac to play, it is much better to do it from Windows. The list of macOS compatible games is very limited on Steam, and almost non-existent on other platforms. It is true that graphics cards are not the strong point of Apple computers, but with Windows 11 installed we will have more compatibility and better performance. In the event that we are programmers/developers, we surely need to test programs and developments in Windows. And, in order not to need another independent computer (therefore, we also save on costs), then we can install Windows 11 in a virtual environment to use it as a test, development and debugging platform. Finally, in case we need two work environments (for example, one for production and another for testing, or any other activity), having both systems open and being able to switch from one to the other is very fast, easy and simple. Why not install the Microsoft system Installing Windows on a Mac is not all advantages, but we can also find ourselves with some handicaps that we must take into account. The first one is that Apple doesn't support drivers or anything for Windows, so if it works, fine; otherwise we can't do anything. The ARM version of Windows 11 works great on Apple's M1 chips, but we're still not officially supported. And the second of the problems is that having Windows open at the same time as macOS consumes considerable resources. https://www.softzone.es/noticias/windows/5-motivos-instalar-windows-11-mac/

Microsoft's own and integrated antivirus in its operating systems is quite well valued in the industry. But, it doesn't always work as it should, or at least it can negatively affect system performance. The company, after five years, has corrected a Windows Defender problem that caused problems in the Firefox browser. Possibly one of the best features of Windows 10 and later is its antivirus. The company integrates it at no additional cost and in different security audits, it is always the best rated or is among the five best rated. But, its cost in system performance can be significant. Microsoft is still using Internet Explorer, it seems Users with the Mozilla Firefox browser were experiencing slowdowns when using this software. Specifically, the problem was with the "anti-malware service executable" function of Windows. Said element has to do with Defender and supposes an excessive use of up to 30% in the processor. Using Firefox and Windows Defender in parallel caused the two tools to clash. This problem ended last week, after five years. The fix fixes the Defender component "MsMpEng.ese" which reduces processor usage by up to 75%. Developers from Microsoft and Mozilla have collaborated to correct the problem. In addition, one of the engineers from the browser's development team has given data in this regard. Specifically, we are talking about Yannis Juglaret, who has provided data through Mozilla's Bugzilla monitoring system. You can read online that Defender was making too many calls to VirtualProtect, and overall CPU usage will now drop by 75% when browsing with Firefox. This is absolutely wrong! The impact of this fix is that on all computers that rely on the Microsoft Defender real-time protection feature (which is enabled by default in Windows), MsMpEng.exe will consume much less CPU than before by monitoring the dynamic behavior of any program via Event Tracing for Windows (ETW). Nothing less, nothing more Yannis Juglaret It should be noted that Juglaret indicates that Firefox performance could still be further optimized. It highlights that the use of the processor can be further reduced, but in this case, with any antivirus and not only with Defender. Within Reddit, quite satisfactory reports have been published by different users. This is great as these users will get a better experience. Constant CPU usage by Defender Microsoft's idea with this antimalware is to protect users without having to depend on third parties. A great idea that is executed in those ways. The background, idle usage of this software is quite high and affects overall performance. If you access the Task Manager and look for the Antimalware Servie Executable process, you will see how the CPU usage oscillates between 0.2-1%. In addition, this process usually consumes between 200-500 MB of RAM. The reason for this consumption is the active protection of the system, something necessary while we are browsing, but which also occurs when we do not have any active browser. https://hardzone.es/noticias/equipos/arreglado-bug-windows-defender-mozilla-firefox/

The sinking has set off the alarms and the risk of public intervention reappears The US bank First Republic Bank acknowledged on Monday that it was against the ropes in the March banking crisis due to a deposit flight and is once again in the eye of the hurricane. This Tuesday it has lost practically half of its value on the stock market, already very depressed due to the collapse suffered since February. The shares have fallen 49% in the session after the presentation of the entity's quarterly results. The collapse has set off alarm bells from the financial authorities and the risk of public intervention reappears when the banking storm seemed contained. First Republic CEO Mike Roffler turned his back on analysts and refused to answer analyst questions Monday after presenting the results. In the figures published, the bank recognized that in a single quarter, customers withdrew 58% of deposits, 102,000 million dollars (about 92,000 million euros) of the 176,400 million dollars they had in the entity in December 2022. . Roffler announced that the San Francisco-based bank has launched an adjustment plan that will entail the dismissal of 20% to 25% of the workforce of some 7,200 employees and cuts in the remuneration of its managers. He also said that he would reduce the size of his balance sheet and opened the door to some strategic operation such as the sale of assets or a capital increase. Roffler's words have not convinced investors. After knowing the accounts, the shares of First Republic have once again collapsed on the stock market. What happened on Monday in the hours after the formal closing of the session has been confirmed this Tuesday with the open market. The price had already sunk 89% since the beginning of February. Now it falls 93% so far this year. The bank's new stock market crash may revive the banking crisis that seemed contained and lead to an emergency solution and even the intervention of the bank by the authorities. Bad news about the financial state of the entity can accelerate the flight of deposits, leaving it without options for survival. The bank was contaminated by the fall of Silicon Valley Bank (SVB) and Signature Bank. First Republic is the bank that most resembled SVB. He admits he suffered an “unprecedented” deposit leak. It contained the crisis thanks to the fact that the large US entities, led by JP Morgan, rescued it with 30,000 million dollars in deposits, with which it ended the quarter with 104,474 million. It also had to look for other ways to reinforce liquidity, including appealing to the Federal Reserve. The bank ensures that deposit activity began to stabilize from the week of March 27, 2023, and has remained stable until Friday, April 21, 2023. “Total deposits amounted to $102.7 billion as of March 21. April 2023, only 1.7% less than on March 31, 2023”, it indicates. It also acknowledges that its cash position has risen from $34 billion in mid-March to $10 billion today. First Republic's benefits fell 33% in the first quarter, to 269 million dollars, according to the accounts published this Monday at the close of the market by the entity. His income was also reduced. Phyllobates terribilis, is the most poisonous frog (and for many the living being) in the world | Credit: Wilfried Berns/Wikimedia Commons (CC BY-SA 2.0) Immediately acting and deadly, the poisonous poison dart frog attacks the nervous system. So how do they survive their own nature? Tiny, silent and phosphorescent, they proliferate in the deep thickness of the Amazon jungle. "Just a few milligrams of tetrodotoxin can be fatal," says Po[CENSORED]r Science. And it's true: with a dash of their venom, some poison dart frogs can wipe out crowds in no time. So how do these multicolored animals survive? Here we explain it to you. Also read: What is the difference between a snake, a viper and a snake? A natural defense mechanism First of all, it should be clarified that the venom of poisonous frogs —as well as that of snakes, scorpions and other animals in nature— is a defense mechanism against possible predators. Due to its size and physiology, an amphibian of just a few centimeters could hardly defend itself against the lizards and mammals that prey on it in its natural environment. But the question remains: how come poison dart frogs don't kill themselves upon contact with these lethal toxins? After all, they often secrete it to protect their skin, or live with these substances in their saliva. This is how science journalist Geoffrey Giller explains it: Many of these toxic substances are truly powerful, since they directly impact the nervous system almost immediately. Some poisonous toads have them in their systems naturally. These include the following: tetrodotoxin Epibatidine Bufotoxins Most likely, these species of poison dart frogs have taken an evolutionary path that has helped them become resistant to these deadly neurotoxins. Not only that: there is evidence that they metabolize these substances from their food, so that "they obtain their toxins from certain ants and mites in their diet, they must transport the toxins from the intestine to the skin glands," explains the specialist. Resistance to these toxins still does not convince some scientists. However, the destruction of the habitat of these species and the global climate crisis make it increasingly difficult to know their true nature. Above all, because the specimens disappear —sometimes, even, without our knowing of their existence. Keep reading: What are the 5 most poisonous animals in Mexico and how to identify them? The next Audi A3 is set to become an electric-only model with a maximum range of more than 400 miles and the choice of either standard rear- or optional four-wheel drive, sources at the car maker have revealed. The decision means the po[CENSORED]r hatchback and saloon will abandon petrol, diesel, plug-in hybrid and natural gas power to go up against the Volkswagen ID 3 with a raft of battery and powertrain options and next-generation technology. Scheduled for UK launch in 2027, the fifth-generation A3 will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s new skateboard-style SSP (Scalable Systems Platform) electric architecture – the same structure that is set to make its debut on the upcoming Volkswagen ID 4 saloon (pictured below) currently being developed under the internal working title Project Trinity. It will also underpin an Audi sibling model known as Apollon. The move comes after Audi rejected a proposal to develop a new entry-level electric model on the existing MEB platform, which is used by the Audi Q4 E-tron and closely related Volkswagen ID 4 and Skoda Enyaq iV. The switch to electric power means standard versions of the A3 will abandon front-wheel drive for the first time since the model’s introduction in 1996, though the most potent models are tipped to adopt a twin-motor, four-wheel-drive set-up reminiscent of the current Audi Sport-fettled A3 variants: the Audi S3 and Audi RS3. These are comfortably the best-selling cars in Ingolstadt’s performance line-up, with 753 RS3s and 442 S3s sold last month in the UK alone. An electric RS3 will be the entry point into the newly electrified performance line-up, being sold alongside rapid and outlandishly styled sporting variants of the upcoming electric Audi A4 and Audi A6 successors. Audi Sport’s transition to an electrified portfolio has kicked off with range-topping variants of the Audi E-tron SUV and Audi E-tron GT saloon, and it is expected to ultimately match the diversity and scope of its current performance range, which comprises highly strung variants of most Audi models. Instant-torque electric power will see the ‘RS3 E-tron’ outpace the current five-cylinder petrol car in a straight line – so expect a sub-3.8sec 0-62mph time, and the innovative torque-vectoring functionality fitted to Audi’s existing fast EVs will no doubt trickle down to upcoming entrants to mimic the combustion car’s dynamic agility. It could also be the first of a breed, with rivals BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen yet to unwrap electrification plans for their own hottest hatchbacks. The A3 line’s electrification aligns with recent comments by Audi CEO Markus Duesmann that all new Audi models will be exclusively electric from 2026. Speaking to German magazine Wirtschaftswoche, Duesmann explained how this switch will be underpinned. “In our current ICE portfolio, we are using three different architectures, and our BEV [battery-electric vehicle] offer is already based on two different architectures: the MEB and PPE [Premium Platform Electric]. In the second half of this decade, we will introduce the SSP to form one strong mechatronic platform,” said Duesmann, who is also R&D boss of the Volkswagen Group. Among the advantages offered by the new SSP architecture over today’s MEB structure are a lower floor height and greater modularity for increased differentiation between models. The SSP platform is also designed to support a new 800V electric architecture. This will offer significantly faster charging times than the 400V system of existing MEB-based models and enable speeds of up to 270kW, which is good for an 80-mile top-up in 10 minutes. Duesmann said the SSP architecture will use what he calls a “unified cell format” and offer a range of up to 435 miles. Although the SSP platform is being developed to accept solid-state batteries, they are not planned to be offered with the next A3. Autocar has been told that the next A3 has been conceived as a five-door hatchback and four-door saloon, both with incremental increases in dimensions. Those privy to early design proposals say Audi designers have taken full advantage of the packaging solutions offered by the dedicated SSP platform, providing the A3 with altered proportions, including shorter overhangs, a shorter bonnet line, a longer cabin and larger wheelhouses. Vinicius Jr has been the target of racist abuse on multiple occasions while playing in Spain Link Real Madrid have filed a complaint against the referee who took charge of Saturday's win at Osasuna for omitting alleged racist abuse towards forward Vinicius Jr from his match report. The club say the "insults and vexatious shouts" were "deliberately" not included by Juan Martinez Munuera. Osasuna have denied there were any racist chants from their fans. Vinicius has been targeted by racist abuse on multiple occasions in Spain over the past three years. Real have demanded "necessary measures be taken" to "eradicate" the abuse. The Spanish Football Federation's technical committee of referees has been contacted for comment. Real said: "The referee voluntarily and deliberately omitted the insults and vexatious shouts directed repeatedly towards our player Vinicius Jr, despite these being insistently pointed out by our players at the very moment when they were taking place. "Real Madrid once again condemns these violent attacks of racism, discrimination and hatred, and demands that the necessary measures be taken, once and for all, to eradicate the violence that our player Vinicius Junior has been suffering." The 23-year-old scored twice in a 4-2 win that moved Real Madrid 10 points clear at the top of La Liga. Osasuna acknowledged that a minority of their fans aimed insults at Real players but insisted they "had no racist references". "Given the information published in the media after Real Madrid's press release, which presents El Sadar [stadium] with racist behaviour, Osasuna wants to clarify that no racist chants were uttered [during] Saturday's match," Osasuna said. "The club will not tolerate the tarnishing of the reputation of the Osasuna fans, who, throughout its history, have been known for their anti-racist stance." Real Madrid have also added the incident to a complaint initially filed to Spanish legal authorities on Friday over alleged racist insults towards Vinicius by Atletico Madrid and Barcelona fans. A video on social media appears to show Atletico Madrid fans chanting a racist slur before their Champions League game with Inter Milan on Wednesday, while Real allege there were similar chants from Barcelona fans before their encounter against Napoli the previous day. Vinicius urges Uefa action after more alleged abuse Vinicius Jr case opens wider racism debate in Spain The Brazil international has endured numerous instances of racist abuse in recent seasons. They include Real's derby win away over Atletico in September 2022, when Atletico condemned "unacceptable" chants by a "minority" of fans towards Vinicius outside their stadium before the game. Last June, four men were fined 60,001 euros (£51,700) and given a two-year stadium ban for hanging an effigy of Vinicius near Real's training ground in January 2023. On the same day, three other people were fined 5,000 euros (£4,300) and banned for one year for making racist gestures during Real's game at Valencia last May. This season there have been reports of more racist abuse towards Vinicius as Real played at Sevilla in October, at Barcelona the following week and at Valencia earlier this month.

https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2021/oct/31/the-real-life-forrest-gump-why-did-bob-pope-run-across-the-us-five-times Forrest Gump’s wisdom has inspired many of us, but Rob Pope took that a step further, dressing as his hero for the run of his life. But why? And what did he learn? Will Coldwell @will_coldwell Sun 31 Oct 2021 13.00 GMT On 15 September 2016, Rob Pope, a chipper veterinarian from Liverpool, sat down in the chair of Fluke’s Barbers in Mobile, Alabama, and readied himself for a haircut. “So what would you like?” the barber asked him. Pope held up a photo of Forrest Gump. It had taken years of planning for Pope to embark on this trip to America, to make it to this barber’s chair. He’d spent countless hours daydreaming about it, building the momentum to go. As his job became ever more miserable – he was working 13-hour days, five days a week – the urge to escape became insurmountable. He quit and, along with his partner and fellow vet, Nadine, headed west. In many ways, the seed for this adventure was sown in 2002. That was the year Pope’s mum, Cathy, died after a cancer diagnosis. Cathy was a medical laboratory scientific officer and a single parent. She raised Pope with grit, determination and heartfelt support of his passion: running. He’d shown promise at the sport since his school days when he took part in the oft-dreaded cross-country and excelled at it. Cathy would take him to his races, which soon became marathons. Marathons after marathons. To Pope she was a best friend, a rock, an inspiration, a support-crew leader. Before she died she asked him to make a promise: “Do one thing in your life that makes a difference.” These words echoed in his mind as he sat in that Alabamabarbershop, awaiting his turn beneath the clippers. Pope dressed as Forrest Gump at Bayou la Batre, Alabama. Shore to shore: Pope as Gump at Bayou la Batre, Alabama. Photograph: Nadine Pope/PR A brisk buzz later, Pope stepped out on to the street. His hair was groomed into a “high and tight”, as the barber described it, and he was decked head to toe in Gump attire: chinos, checked shirt and a brand new pair of white Nike Cortez sneakers. He donned his red Bubba Gump Shrimp Co cap and, well, started to run. Just like Forrest Gump, he didn’t stop until he’d run across America almost five times. Even if you’ve never seen the film or read the book you’ve probably heard of Forrest Gump. Gump is one of those archetypal screen characters who captured the public imagination. Like Rocky or Mia Wallace or BA Baracus, he mostly exists as a jumble of catchphrases and easy-to-assembl fancy-dress party accessories: “My mama always said, life was like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get.” That’s classic Gump. “What’s normal anyways?” That’s another. Then we have the most iconic quote from the film, though it was not actually uttered by Gump himself: “Run, Forrest, run!” This was a DIY operation. Pope had no sponsors and the budget was tight The character originated in a novel by Winston Groom, published in 1986. It tells the story of a man born in Mobile, Alabama with a low IQ who innocently drifts through several decades of social churn. Gump pops up in the Vietnam war and plays ping-pong in China. Oh, and there’s Jenny, his first-grade crush and lifelong love. Naturally, the book did poorly. The 1994 film, however, starring Tom Hanks, was a hit and won six Oscars, including best picture, best director and best actor. The film’s pièce de résistance – an iconic sequence in contemporary Gump-lore and the moment that created a spark of inspiration in Pope’s mind – was a scene that didn’t occur in the book. It almost didn’t appear in the film either. The sequence only exists because

Supporters of the influential UGTT labour union rally in Tunis in defiance of crackdown by Kais Saied against critics Thousands of people gathered in Tunisia’s capital on Saturday for a rally organised by the country's most powerful labour union, to demonstrate against the government under President Kais Saied. The protest called by the UGTT ― one of the largest since Mr Saied dismissed the previous government and suspended parliament in July 2021 ― comes after a spate of arrests of the president's political opponents in recent weeks. Starting at the Mohamed Ali Hammi plaza, which is dedicated to one of the founders of the Tunisian labour movement before independence, thousands marched along the capital’s main Habib Bourguiba avenue shouting, “Freedom, the police state is over”, “Saied, your time is over” and “IMF government, the people are invincible”. Noureddine Tabboubi, the head of the Tunisian General Labour Union told the crowd before the march that "no matter how costly it is, we will not fear prisons and assassinations and we will always stand on the side of equality and justice”. “I salute all the activists and politicians in Mornaguia prison,” Mr Tabboubi said, referring to the recent arrests. Most of those arrested have been accused of "conspiracy against state security". Mr Tabboubi said the UGTT would not remain silent in the face of a systematic targeting of rights and freedoms in the country. “Tunisia will not be a land of tyranny and oppression,” he said. The highly acclaimed Far Cry 5 is arriving on Game Pass on Friday, July 1, Microsoft has revealed. In its latest "Coming to Game Pass" update, Xbox gave a rundown of the new Game Pass titles arriving in the rest of June as well as at the start of next month. The Shadowrun Trilogy (cloud and console) and Total War: Three Kingdoms (PC) launched on the subscription service today, with FIFA 22 (console and PC) and martial arts battle royale Naraka: Bladepoint arriving on Thursday, June 23. The big headliner is Far Cry 5, which will be the most recent game in Ubisoft's prolific series to be available on Game Pass. And the good news is that it isn't exclusive to any one platform - all Game Pass subscribers will be able to play Far Cry 5 on the cloud, console, and PC when it gets added on July 1. In case you haven't played it, our 4/5-star review from 2018 might be of some encouragement. We heaped praise on the more focused gunplay, highly explorable locales, and dynamic side missions. "Far Cry 5 is a continuation of everything you remember about the series, but an instalment that’s taken a good look at itself, and what it does, to work out the best possible way of doing it," reads the review. "The compact, more streamlined design never feels small and instead comes across as more achievable and event filled." https://www.msn.com/en-us/entertainment/gaming/far-cry-5-is-coming-to-game-pass-in-july/ar-AAYIIvZ?ocid=BingNewsSearch
