In addition to new catch-up mechanics, future updates will also make changes to set crafting and Helliquary boss raids. Diablo Immortal will introduce changes to make it far easier for players that are falling behind their server's Paragon level to catch up, developer Blizzard has announced. In a Q&A blog post, Blizzard outlined some of the changes players can expect to see in the free-to-play mobile game in the coming weeks and months. Some of those changes will be to help players catch up who may have taken time away from the game and fallen behind. Each Diablo Immortal server has a server Paragon Level that increases over time. Players have their own personal Paragon level as well, and if a player's own Paragon level is below that of the server, they earn increased experience points. However, it sounds like the system isn't currently doing enough to help players get back up to speed, so Blizzard will be increasing the amount of experience earned by players significantly behind their server's Paragon level. Additionally, Blizzard is looking to increase the rate at which those players earn Legendary and Set items, so that those lapsed players can more rapidly increase their Combat Rating and participate in higher-level content. "In Immortal's current form, there's a situation where a player can catch up in experience, but their Combat Rating is still too low to participate in various activities," Blizzard notes. While catch-up system changes aren't coming immediately, some other adjustments are. Players will soon be able to re-customize the facial appearance of their characters and stay grouped together to fight multiple Helliquary raid bosses come Diablo Immortal's next major update, which is slated to arrive December 14. That update will also include improvements to the game's recently implemented Set item crafting system and new story content. Diablo Immortal is co-developed by China's NetEase games, which has long partnered with Blizzard to release various games like World of Warcraft and Overwatch in China. Blizzard recently announced it would be ending its partnership with NetEase next year, which will result in multiple Blizzard games being taken offline in the region. Support for Diablo Immortal in China, however, will continue, as the game is covered under a separate agreement. link: https://www.gamespot.com/articles/diablo-immortal-will-receive-new-catch-up-mechanics-to-prevent-players-from-being-left-behind/1100-6509584/

In 2009, German studio Deck13—who would go on to make soulslikes Lords of the Fallen and The Surge series—released a third-person RPG in which you play Death's daughter. No, not Susan Sto Helit from Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, though I'd kill for a game about her, but a corset-clad inhabitant of a fantasy version of Venice named Scarlett who fights with a detached scythe blade. Venetica didn't set the world on fire thanks to a degree of jankiness and somewhat shallow combat, but did earn some fans thanks to its unusual Renaissance setting and odd ideas like the lockpicking system, in which the ghosts of two thieves tell you which order to torque your four lockpicks. As part of GOG's summer sale, you can grab Venetica – Gold Edition for free(opens in new tab) right now. Be quick, as you've only got until 6am PST/2pm BST on Sunday, June 12 to grab it. It comes with some additional downloadable goodies, including a making of video, the soundtrack in mp3 format, the manual and an artbook (the latter in German), and something that's just labeled "Venice". As a 143MB download it's presumably not the entire Italian city, but rather a video tour of it. We've put together a selection of our own picks as the PC Gamer collection in GOG's summer sale, with discounts on some of our favorite games. You can grab Shadow Tactics: Blade of the Shogun or XCOM 2 for 90% off, Supreme Commander Gold Edition or Bastion for 80% off, Baldur's Gate 2: Enhanced Edition or Far Cry 2 for 70% off, and more. https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/get-venetica-a-eurojank-rpg-about-deaths-daughter-free-for-a-limited-time/

In the midst of strong clashes and protests, the French have decided to reject a proposal by their president Emmanuel Macron to increase the minimum retirement age, while the World Bank calls for the age to be increased worldwide to maintain the proportion of the po[CENSORED]tion economically active. Both facts reflect that the problem of social security extends around the world. Ecuador is no exception. According to Augusto De la Torre, former World Bank chief economist for the region, and current leader of the Inter-institutional Commission that seeks to create a reform for the pension system of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS), there are great differences and similarities in the problems of pension systems around the world. Pay-as-you-go systems such as those in Ecuador, the US and France are facing the impact of higher life expectancy on the system deficit. These in turn transfer the problem to the tax issue. In this sense, various governments worldwide are trying to limit the fiscal impact. However, countries have different ways of absorbing the problem. In some that are advanced and have debt capacity, they do so by acquiring more debt to cover those gaps. However, for example, in France there would no longer be room for it and Macron proposes an increase in the minimum retirement age, which has generated this impressive reaction. In this sense, we can talk about the tragedy of the commons, and it is that since the resources belong to everyone, they also belong to nobody, people say that the treasury should take care of the problem, but we all end up affected by this problem, for example in the increase in taxes. Another interesting case is that of Argentina, for which the Government pays between 7% and 8% of GDP. There they are solving it by issuing banknotes, which ends up affecting inflation. Right now they are at 105% inflation and in danger of going into hyperinflation. In both cases this liquefies the pensions. Retirees receive the same pensions nominally, but the purchasing power is much lower. https://www.eluniverso.com/noticias/economia/problema-de-seguridad-social-no-es-exclusivo-de-ecuador-cuales-son-las-diferencias-con-francia-y-argentina-nota/

Satellite photos showing poop stains in the West Antarctic snow and ice have revealed a previously unknown breeding colony of emperor penguins. A never-before-seen emperor penguin colony — one of only 66 known to exist — has been spotted by accident in satellite photographs of West Antarctica that clearly show their guano, or droppings, staining the ice. The colony is estimated to be home to about 1,000 adult birds, in 500 pairs with their young, which makes it relatively small for an emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) breeding site. But it's an important addition to what's known of the species. Peter Fretwell(opens in new tab), a geographic information officer with the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), discovered the colony in December; but the announcement was delayed so that it coincided with Penguin Awareness Day, which is held on Jan. 20 each year. Fretwell told Live Science that he was looking at sea ice loss in photographs from the European Space Agency's two Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellites(opens in new tab) when he spotted the distinctive signs of an emperor penguin colony. "I could see what looked like a very small brown stain on the ice," he said. Higher resolution photographs of the same area taken in October by the Maxar WorldView-3 satellite(opens in new tab), which can image objects as small as 12 inches (30 centimeters) across, confirmed the presence of the breeding colony, near West Antarctica's Verleger Point, Fretwell said. Because the penguins' guano accumulates and stains the ice and snow a deep-brown color, it is much easier to see from afar than the emperor penguins themselves. But the high-resolution images also show individual emperor penguins — pictured as tiny dots — and the po[CENSORED]tion estimate is based on those, Fretwell said. Emperor penguin colonies are often remote and difficult to study, but BAS scientists have discovered several in satellite photos of Antarctica's coastline over the past 15 years. Recent satellite research has even suggested that there could be around 20% more emperor penguins in the Antarctic than previously estimated. Emperor penguins exclusively breed on packed sea ice. This reliance on sea ice, however, also makes the penguins vulnerable to its loss in a warming climate; and West Antarctica has already been badly affected. "Last year we had the minimum ever sea ice extent in Antarctica, and this year is even worse, for two consecutive years," Fretwell said. "It's estimated that we will probably lose a minimum of 80% of emperor penguin colonies before the end of the century." Due to this threat from climate change, emperors are now listed as a threatened species under the U.S. Endangered Species Act. Emperor penguins are the tallest and heaviest of all penguins, typically reaching up to 39 inches (100 cm) in height and weighing up to 100 pounds (45 kilograms.) They get their name from their dramatic black, white and yellow plumage. Emperors spend most of the Antarctic summer diving for fish, crustaceans and krill. They breed during the dark winter months on the surface of the packed sea ice, sometimes more than 30 miles (50 kilometers) from the open ocean, and where temperatures can dip as low as minus 76 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 60 Celsius.). Fretwell recently visited Antarctica to observe another large emperor penguin colony by aerial drone, to confirm the numerical estimates of penguin breeding colonies only seen in satellite photographs. And while he got close enough to smell the penguin poop, it wasn't that bad, he said. Because emperor penguin colonies are on sea ice, much of the guano is frozen and doesn't smell — unlike the colonies of penguins that breed among rocks, where the smell can be intense. "The emperors are more stately and not as smelly as other penguins," he said. https://www.livescience.com/satellites-reveal-emperor-penguin-colony-antarctica

You know the drill: a new EV gets all hyped up, and the limited number of early editions sell out quickly. That means secondhand auctions are where you need to look if the FOMO is real for you. In this case, the 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 is all sold out, and given the $112,595 price when new, the current bid of $102,000 over on Bring a Trailer represents a discount. (BaT, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos.) With the auction continuing until Saturday, January 21, we suspect the numbers will climb before it's all over. Whatever powertrain it carries, the Hummer remains a controversial vehicle. Reviewing the the 1000-hp, all-electric version, we once called it a "definitive riposte to the 'EVs are wimpy' crowd." If you're sad you missed out on the chance to buy one of the $100,000-plus GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 monsters, time to turn that frown upside down. A 2022 GMC Hummer EV Pickup Edition 1 with about 2000 miles on it is currently listed for auction at the site Bring a Trailer—which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos. Since you can't even place an order for a new Hummer EV right now—and when you can, deliveries might not happen until 2024—secondhand sales like this are the only way to get one in your driveway any time soon.Originally priced at $112,595, this Hummer includes all of the headline-grabbing features that GMC is packing into the over-the-top EV: CrabWalk four-wheel steering, the 200.0-kWh Ultium battery pack, underbody cameras, Watts to Freedom (WTF) launch control, and an Infinity Roof with four removable tinted glass Sky Panels. Three motors (one in front, two on the back axle) provide a zero-to-60-mph time of approximately three seconds when the WTF mode is engaged. SuperCruise, an Extreme Off-Road package, Bose audio, 18-inch wheels, and a MultiPro tailgate are all included. Once GMC opens up Hummer EV orders again, you could spec a new one to have similar specs to the Edition 1, but some features are exclusive to this model, like an Edition 1 badge. The contrasting Interstellar White exterior paints and Jet Black and light gray faux leather interior also identify it as an Edition 1 model. This 2022 GMC Hummer EV is located in Washington State and has a clean title. It has had only one owner and a clean CarFax report. The seller is including a travel battery charger with 110V and 220V connectors and a home charging unit. link:https://www.caranddriver.com/news/a42557086/2022-gmc-hummer-ev-pickup-edition-1-bring-a-trailer-auction/

Five workers were injured this Saturday, April 22, in an explosion registered at Pozo Tesoro 29, located in the Lizama sector, municipality of San Vicente de Chucurí. Ecopetrol confirmed the number of injuries and ruled out, for the moment, that there are fatalities through a short statement in which it also explained that it activated a contingency plan to attend to the emergency. The explosion caused a fire, according to images shared on social networks. The wounded were transferred to assistance centers in Barrancabermeja. For their part, "the production and refinery firefighting teams went to the site and controlled the situation," said Ecopetrol. The oil company also indicated that the equipment that was affected in the emergency is operated by the company Serinco Drilling. "The causes of the event are under investigation," added Ecopetrol. The emergency caused moments of anguish. A worker at the oil well said desperately: "Inform the fire brigade, we almost left, we almost burned, send the fire brigade, people are burned, the well is bursting." This contingency recalls the tragic situation that occurred in the municipality of Barrancabermeja, Santander, when on the night of October 1, 2022, 14 propane gas cylinders that were stored in a warehouse known as Fedegas exploded. At the time, the local authorities declared a public calamity in order to provide the necessary aid to the affected community. In the warehouse, according to the authorities, about 500 propane gas cylinders were stored, of which 14 exploded and in turn caused a large fire. The explosive wave affected more than 83 homes and left two people dead and 29 people injured. In view of this emergency, through Decree 278, Mayor Alfonso Eljach declared a situation of public calamity for a period of six months, in which it was intended to "attend to each and every one of the administrative and contractual actions necessary for the fire presented in the Villa Plata neighborhood, commune seven. Likewise, this declaration made it possible to submit a request for support to the departmental and national government in search of benefits for the 83 Barranqueña families that were affected. https://www.semana.com/nacion/articulo/atencion-explosion-en-pozo-petrolero-de-santander-deja-cinco-heridos/202333/

The Hollywood Reporter(opens in new tab) says Duke Nukem, the most infamously failed musclehead in videogame history, is headed to the big screen. The rights to a Duke Nukem film project have been picked up by Legendary Entertainment, according to the report, while Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, the creators of the Cobra Kai television series, are signed as producers. In some ways, it's a natural fit. Duke Nukem was originally created as a simplistic parody of 1980s action heroes, after all: He was all action, ass-kicking, and half-witted one-liners, and the only thing bigger than his guns were his biceps. The games moved from 2D platformer to 3D FPS in 1996 with Duke Nukem 3D, a brilliantly good shooter that earned criticism for embracing the stereotypes a little too enthusiastically. But in spite of its success, a new game in the series didn't come along until Duke Nukem Forever in 2011, which ejected the parody element and went all-in on "Duke is cool": It was widely panned, and tanked. On the surface, that makes a Duke Nukem film project seem like a risky proposition at best. I like '80s action films, but I appreciate them with appropriate levels of awareness and irony—and honestly, I don't think there's any macho star from that era who's even remotely as douchey as Duke. I sure wouldn't want a Duke Nukem action film played straight. But the involvement of Heald, Hurwitz, and Schlossberg makes me think that there's a chance it could work. Cobra Kai(opens in new tab), which airs on Netflix, is a sequel to the Karate Kid films from the '80s, which is also a terrible idea on its face. Yet it's critically acclaimed and a commercial hit because of the way it subverts those original films: Characters are more developed and complex, bad guys struggle to be better (some of them, anyway), and through it all there's a subtle acknowledgement of the essential ridiculousness of the whole thing: Why are Ralph Macchio and William Zabka still so eager to beat the shit out of each other 40 years later? It's not hard to imagine a similar approach being taken with Duke, and I think it could be very effective. And it's not as though the concept of an anachronistic, not-too-bright "hero" forced to grapple with the realities of a world that's left him behind is a new and fresh concept: Mike Myers used it to turn himself into a superstar with the Austin Powers trilogy. A Gearbox rep confirmed that The Hollywood Reporter report is accurate, but did not comment on whether it will be directly involved in the project. A writer and director for the film have not yet been signed. https://www.pcgamer.com/uk/a-duke-nukem-movie-is-coming-from-the-makers-of-cobra-kai/

https://www.el-carabobeno.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/11/Solskjaer-696x392.jpg Manchester United confirmed this Sunday the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as team manager, after the 4-1 defeat against Watford. The Norwegian leaves after almost three years as coach of the 'Red Devils' and without having won any title in his time as a coach. Solskjaer arrived in December 2018 as an interim, following the dismissal of José Mourinho, and remained as permanent coach in March 2019. This summer he signed his renewal until July 2024. The English team will have to compensate Solskjaer with just over 7 million pounds for his dismissal. “Ole will always be a Manchester United legend and that is why we are very sad to have made this decision. Although the last few weeks have been disappointing, they do not detract from the great job he has done over the past three years to rebuild the club, "United said in a statement. The team is willing to wait until the end of the season to sign a new coach, delegating for the moment the position to Michael Carrick, who has served as second to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. " In her acceptance speech, the actress-turned-author also thanked Sarita Tanwar, Neelam Raaj and Chikki sarkar for making her book 'award-winning'. Khanna's book, ‘Pajamas Are Forgiving’ is about a woman named Anshu, who has difficulty sleeping and therefore checks herself into a spa in Kerala, where such disorders are treated. Federal agents believe they have gathered sufficient evidence to charge Hunter Biden with tax crimes and a false statement related to a gun purchase and, although the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Delaware has yet to reveal whether it plans to charge the president’s son, a former official told Fox News that a decision could be "imminent." A federal investigation into Hunter has been ongoing since 2018. With the potentially major news hitting the media just weeks before the 2022 midterm elections, Twitter users on both sides of the aisle had strong reactions to reports of possible charges against Hunter Biden. Conservatives mocked the report being broken by the Washington Post following years of media silence and the original story about Hunter Biden's laptop being buried as "Russian disinformation" ahead of the 2020 election. Washington Examiner executive editor Seth Mandel wrote, "looking forward to the ‘obviously a Russian disinfo op’ letter signed by all the decorated intel officials." "Obviously, the Russians are involved in setting up Hunter Biden! Also the Saudis! And even Q-Anon!" Radio host Jason Rantz joked. Actor Daniel Bostic tweeted, "Charging Hunter Biden for tax and firearm crimes is like charging Harvey Weinstein for mortgage fraud." James Bradley, who is running as a Republican in California for U.S. Senate, similarly joked, "Charging Hunter Biden for tax crimes and a false gun statement is like charging Alec Baldwin with a misdemeanor for murdering Halyna Hutchins." Ricochet editor-in-chief Jon Gabriel tweeted, "but wapo told me this was russian disinformation." "Finally, they'll let him keep getting away with it," Substack writer Jim Treacher wrote. Liberal Twitter users, however, were upset this leak came out only weeks before the midterm elections and demanded equal action from the Department of Justice in the ongoing investigations into former President Trump. The Nation correspondent Elie Mystal wrote, "Also, since apparently it's okay for @TheJusticeDept to leak now, COULD WE GET SOME INFORMATION ABOUT WHEN YOU ARE GOING TO CHARGE DONALD TRUMP AND HIS PEOPLE FOR THE ATTEMPTED COUP??? Asking for people really concerned about ‘both sides.’" "Right before the 2022 midterms...." The Daily Beast columnist Wajahat Ali wrote. Radio host Dean Obeidallah tweeted, "If Hunter Biden is indicted that means 100% DOJ will be indicting Donald Trump. It's how DOJ gets to appear fair." "Washington Post reporting federal agents have enough evidence to charge Hunter Biden with tax and gun crimes. Fine, if they’re going to charge the son of a sitting president, they sure as hell better charge a former president," NBCUniversal executive editor Mike Sington wrote. Author Don Winslow tweeted, "Turns out Twitter was right. Merrick Garland's DOJ was working on something. They were working on Hunter Biden. AND leaking to The Washington Post 30+ days before the mid-terms in complete violation of the so-called DOJ policy. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/hunter-biden-twitter-explodes-over-news-federal-agents-have-enough-to-file-charges-against-presidents-son/ar-AA12HbKz

Although she has previously expressed a desire to shift away from acting and pursue her passion for antiquities, many people are still surprised by Fox's involvement in "Legends," to her slight annoyance. "It's interesting, because I've been talking about it for so long, but none of those things are the things people bother reading or retaining," she says. "It's always whatever salacious, scandalous, negative thing that people are attracted to. But it's not a new thing for me: I've been in love with it for a long time." Fox, 32, chats with USA TODAY about the show, traveling with her kids and how shooting "Transformers" sparked her interest in archaeology. Question: How long have you been interested in ancient history? Megan Fox: My favorite class in school was Greek mythology. That's the only class I had of that nature and the only one I ever did really well in. I came from the South, where I was raised Pentecostal Christian, and we did a lot of revivals and exorcisms in my church. So I was also always really interested in other religions and just ancient people in general. I didn't go to college, so it's not like I specifically studied archaeology, but I was always in love with the idea of getting to actually be Indiana Jones, and travel around and really explore some of these mysteries. Everybody has something that they're passionate about and for me, just being near some of this stuff is really special. Q: Aside from the discovery that there were many female Viking warriors, what was the most interesting thing you learned shooting the first episode in Norway? Fox: Learning that women were also merchants was totally new to me, because women haven't been represented that way in our history books. You think of being a merchant as a male vocation but it absolutely was full of females. Also, just the fact that they were burying these enormous long ships underground ... as part of a personal grave, and that was really striking for me. Shooting "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" in exotic locales such as Egypt and Jordan deepened Megan Fox's love for archaeology. Q: How did shooting at Stonehenge compare to filming at the Great Pyramids in Giza for the second "Transformers?" Fox: Well, when I was shooting "Transformers," I was 22 and I wasn't thinking about things the same way as I do now. I didn't have the same ideas and philosophies, and now I would have a totally different appreciation and understanding of it. But shooting (in Egypt), I learned some information that actually sparked a deeper curiosity. There was a seed planted there that (explains) why I pursued this show. Get the Staying Apart, Together newsletter in your inbox. Wisdom and distractions for coping with a world changed by coronavirus Delivery: Tues, Sat Your Email Stonehenge was a totally different thing. We were there at 3:30 in the morning, so it was freezing and misty and spooky and mystical. And I feel like there's even less knowledge surrounding Stonehenge. The Egyptians documented almost everything. They didn't document the building of the pyramids, but we know so much more about them than we know about the builders of Stonehenge.

Redmi Note 11 Pro variant could be unveiled soon by the Chinese smartphone company. The Redmi Note 11 lineup, which included the Redmi Note 11 Pro and the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G, debuted in India earlier this year. It appears that the Xiaomi sub-brand will soon launch a refreshed model from this series, believed to be bearing the moniker Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023. This handset has been reportedly spotted on the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) database and has received EEC certifications. According to a recent report by MySmartPrice, a Redmi smartphone bearing the model number 2209116AG has been spotted on the FCC database. The alleged listing suggests that this handset is named as Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023. Furthermore, it mentions that the handset runs on MIUI 13 out-of-the-box, which could be based on Android 12. In related news, a past XiaomiUI report spotted the Redmi 2209116AG model on the IMEI database. The supposed listing in itself did not reveal any details regarding this handset; however, the report speculates that the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 could be a rebadged Redmi Note 10 Pro. If true, then the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023 might boast similar specifications to the handset that arrived in India last year. The Redmi Note 10 Pro was priced at Rs. 15,999 for its base 6GB RAM + 64GB storage model at launch. It sports a 6.67-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED display with 1,200 nits of peak brightness and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Under the hood, it packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G SoC, paired with Adreno 618 GPU. The handset sports a 64-megapixel quad rear camera setup and a 16-megapixel selfie shooter. As of now, Redmi has not officially confirmed the existence of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 2023. However, considering that the handset has been popping up on many certification sites, we might get an official announcement soon. Buying an affordable 5G smartphone today usually means you will end up paying a "5G tax". What does that mean for those looking to get access to 5G networks as soon as they launch? Find out on this week's episode. Orbital is available on Spotify, Gaana, JioSaavn, Google Podcasts, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music and wherever you get your podcasts.
