https://www.pcgamer.com/dungeon-crawler-demeo-brings-monster-hordes-to-pc-with-a-goofy-80s-trailer/ One of the games we wanted you to keep your eye on from the last Steam Next Fest(opens in new tab) was Demeo(opens in new tab), a dungeon crawler first made for VR and now released for regular-screen PCs. Demeo: PC Edition has the same stuff as the VR edition, and those who own the VR version can play cross-platform with the PC edition, so if your buddies already play there you can just jump in. Demeo is a fast and furious dungeon crawler, where you and a family of three other adventurers smash your way through lots of baddies to accomplish your goals. It's relentless dungeon crawling, as waves of enemies will constantly appear from the shadows to kill you. Our Jody MacGregor described it as "like having the Monster Manual thrown at your face." It's one of those games I love because it's hard, even at times unfair, but the rules are very consistent. You and your buddies learn to hedge your bets and work around what you know is coming so that you can win. It's wave-based survival dungeon crawling. As of now, Demeo has five different heroes, and each hero is controlled with a deck of cards with their abilities and equipment in it. The release has three full adventures for now, but developers Resolution Games intend to release more adventures and heroes in the future.

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/motorized-gaming-bed-puts-you-right-back-into-the-action-when-you-wake-up Bauhutte has launched(opens in new tab) its new Electric Gaming Bed BGB-100FA in Japan for gamers that want to game all day long on their beds. The bed looks similar to one of IKEA's Lyksele sofa-bed frames/mattresses but with a wired remote control offering motorized adjustment of backrest and leg rest angles. The BGB-100FA isn't much more than a basic-looking motorized bed that might appeal to seniors. However, in many promotional pictures, the Electric Gaming Bed looks much more compelling, as it has lots of other Bauhutte gaming furniture solutions. The gaming desk has multiple monitor and tablet arms, a swing-over keyboard and mousing surface, various gaming storage components, and even a mini-fridge. In 2020, Japanese gaming furniture brand Bauhutte launched its first gaming bed but didn't offer any way to make it easy or comfortable to sit up for extended periods. Instead, users have to rest or lean on cushions or sit cross-legged. The new motorized version BGB-100FA looks like it will be much more comfortable for extended gaming sessions. With the provided wired removal, users can adjust the backrest angle between flat and 60 degrees and the leg rest angle between flat and 35 degrees. The angle adjustments are independent of each other. Therefore, it could be a comfortable solution with suitable monitor arms and keyboard/mouse surfaces. The bed allows for some manual adjustments. For example, you can set the legs at 13.8, 20.8, or 28.5cm when assembling. However, we think this isn't an adjustment you will be interested in making often; instead, it is more of a 'set it then forget it' step. In addition, you can add other accessories to the bed, such as an adjustable headboard or bed desk. Bauhutte says its bed measures 94 x 199 x 13.8 to 28.5cm (width x depth x height), and its weight is 37.9kg. It has a user weight limit of approximately 200kg. The suggested price in Japan is 57,000 Yen, including tax, equivalent to $460. It doesn't include the matters, though. Bauhutte's matching gaming mattress will set you back another $670.

https://www.pcgamer.com/theres-a-fix-for-lego-star-wars-the-skywalker-saga-insisting-on-a-60-fps-cap/ Thanks to PCGamesN, we now have a fix for one of Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga's few graphical hiccups: its stubborn insistence on defaulting to a 60 fps cap on launching the game or Alt+Tabbing out, no matter what you set in the in-game menus. To ensure your preferred framerate cap won't just switch when you're not looking, follow these steps: Enable "view hidden folders" in Windows Explorer if you haven't already Navigate to C:/Users/[your name]/AppData/Roaming/Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment/LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga/PCCONFIG.txt Ctrl+F "ScreenRefreshRate" and change the value to your desired fps cap With those steps accomplished, the game should launch with and maintain your desired framerate cap. PCGamesN's primary concern was the game resetting back to 60fps on Alt+Tab, but I found this fix also addressed my issue of the game defaulting to 60 fps on launch, requiring an adjustment in the options menu every time I wanted to play. Perhaps it's not the greatest hardship a human being could face, having to tweak a few menu options to go beyond 60 fps. After all, our distant ancestors had to contend with 720p 30 fps in Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition back in the Before Times. Still, if you're one of the elect brandishing a high-refresh rate monitor, you're gonna want every one of those precious frames. I know I do.

https://www.techradar.com/news/the-best-microsoft-teams-features-available-to-all Microsoft is readying an update for its online collaboration platform Teams that will help close the gap between the desktop app and web client. As explained in a rather cryptic roadmap entry(opens in new tab), the “modern meeting experience” will soon be made available to those that access Microsoft Teams via their web browser. In an email exchange with TechRadar Pro, a Microsoft spokesperson clarified precisely what this will entail. “This ‘modern meeting experience’ update brings features currently available in desktop to web. This includes the modern meeting stage views like Dynamic View, Large Gallery, and Together Mode, as well as the ability to switch amongst those selections. In addition to that, there are updates to the pre-join experience and the control bar,” we were told. Microsoft Teams for the web Microsoft began trialling the “modern meeting experience” on the web in February, but is now preparing for a full rollout in June, after which users of the Teams web app will have access to the same breadth of functionality as anyone else. More specifically, web users will benefit from features like Large Gallery view, which allows for as many as 49 people to appear on-screen at once, and Together Mode, which places all attendees on a common virtual background. The update will also give web client users new presentation options in the form of Dynamic View, a feature that allows for elements of the meeting screen to be moved around and resized depending on the content being shared. Lastly, the Teams web app will give users new options in the pre-meeting landing page that will make it easier to select audio and video sources before dialling into a session. More broadly, the update can be seen as part of Microsoft’s efforts to ensure the meeting experience is consistent for all Teams users, no matter which client or hardware they are using to dial in. Beyond the upcoming web app update, the company has made a number of additions with this goal in mind. In recent weeks, for example, Microsoft has announced the expansion of the transcription feature to customers running Teams in a virtual machine, and an update that will improve the meeting experience on Mozilla Firefox. And previously, the company revealed plans to offer up important accessibility features to a wider range of attendees.

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/sonnet-builds-8-port-10gbps-usb-c-pcie-adapter After about seven years on the market, USB Type-C connectors with USB 3.x SuperSpeed+ (10Gbps) data transfer mode are becoming mainstream standards for a variety of peripherals, including those used by professionals. But there lies a problem. Modern motherboards rarely have more than three USB-C ports, and for many creative professionals, three is not enough. To address this issue, Sonnet developed a card with eight 10Gbps USB-C connectors specifically for those who need many Type-C interfaces. To enable eight USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, the Sonnet Allegro Pro USB-C PCIe 3.0 x8 card carries four ASMedia 3142 controllers (with a PCIe 3.0 x2 interface) supporting a pair of USB-C connectors each. It also features an unknown PCIe 3.0 x8 bridge that orchestrates their operation with the host to eliminate bandwidth congestion and even enable the virtualization of ports. As a result, Sonnet claims that the card can concurrently deliver full 10Gbps bandwidth through each port. The Sonnet Allegro Pro USB-C 8-Port PCIe card is designed primarily for audio/video professionals who use plenty of separate devices and require high-speed interfaces to transfer files, according to the company. While eight USB-C ports is an indisputable benefit of the card, we have something to add when it comes to performance. The Allegro Pro USB-C 8-Port PCIe card comes with a PCIe 3.0 x8 interface, so its peak data transfer rate is 7.877 GB/s in each direction without 128b/130b encoding overhead. Meanwhile, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 controllers can generate up to 1.25 GB/s in one direction without 128b/130b encoding overhead. Therefore, while we can hardly imagine a usage scenario when all eight USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports need all their bandwidth for data transfer in one direction, in such a scenario, the card will not be able to offer 10 Gbps bandwidth for all ports. Yet, since we deal with mixed workloads in most cases, this limitation is barely applicable to real-world situations. Meanwhile, those who need extreme performance from an external device typically use Thunderbolt 3/4 ports, so they will continue to use them while plugging other peripherals into the Allegro Pro USB-C card. Furthermore, keep in mind that there are not many desktop-grade SSDs that can hit 7.877 GB/s anyway, so the limitation is mainly hypothetical. The board comes in a full-height half-length form factor and has a small heatsink to cool down the PCIe bridge. The card takes just one slot and can be installed into a desktop or into an external Thunderbolt expansion box (which means total bandwidth will be limited to that of Thunderbolt 3/4 — 32.4 Gbit/s without encoding overhead). Its power consumption is unclear, but it can deliver up to 7.5W of power to each of its USB 3.2 Gen 2 connectors. The board is compatible with Apple's macOS, Microsoft's Windows, and Linux. The Allegro Pro USB-C 8-Port PCIe Card (USB3C-8PM-E) is available now directly from Sonnet at a price of $399.99.The company's partners will soon start selling the product as well, according to the company.

https://www.pcgamer.com/the-quarry-has-a-movie-mode-so-you-can-watch-it-instead-of-playing-it/ The Quarry(opens in new tab), announced in March by developer Supermassive, is essentially a teen slasher flick made into a narrative adventure: A group of counsellors decides to have a party on the last night of camp, and hoo boy do things go wrong. Classic teen behavior. The cliched horror flick vibe is further nailed down by some fun casting, including David Arquette (Scream), Lance Henriksen (Alien), Lin Shaye (A Nightmare on Elm Street), and Ted Raimi (Creepshow). Each of the nine counsellors in the game is playable, and can be saved or killed off depending on the choices you make, how you develop their relationships with other characters in the game, and how you react when things go sideways. But if you're a horror fan who'd rather just kick back and enjoy the show, a new IGN preview reveals that The Quarry has a "movie mode" option that will let you do just that. Movie mode offers three options for passive participants: Everyone Lives. Everyone Dies, and Director's Chair, which enables players to adjust the behavior of each character in specific situations—when under pressure, in conversation, that sort of thing—before letting the action unfold. I would guess that movie mode will be used more as a post-game tool by people who have completed the game in a more traditional fashion at least once, but it's still a great idea for a game that's so deeply rooted in film. For players who'd prefer something in between, The Quarry will also offer a range of other accessibility options including simplified quick time events, adjustable interrupt speed timers, aim assist, and even total elimination of combat. The Quarry is set to come out on June 10 and is available for pre-purchase now on Steam. You can find out more about the game, and the cast, at quarrygame.com(opens in new tab), and get a taste of its cinematic gameplay in the new half-hour video below.
