  1. NVIDIA DLSS 2 has outclassed AMD FSR 2 across 26 games which shows the green team's superior upscaling implementation. It's a head-to-head fight between AMD FSR 2 & NVIDIA DLSS 2 to see which upscaler is the best for gamers In today's PC games, gamers can utilize AMD FSR 2 and NVIDIA DLSS 2 upscaling technologies for faster performance with minimal image quality sacrifice. These upscaling technologies come in a range of modes, allowing users to set what's best suited for them and the hardware they are using. Early Intel 14th Gen Meteor Lake-M Laptop CPU With 4+8 Core Configuration Spotted As of right now, there are 260 games/apps that support NVIDIA's DLSS 2 and 110 games/apps that support FSR 2. That is definitely a really huge list of games and applications to compare the 2 said technologies however, HardwareUnboxed did a test between 26 modern AAA titles to see which is the upscaler that stands out in terms of performance and quality. It should be noted that the staff at Wccftech did not tabulate these performance metrics and are connected to HardwareUnboxed. Any bias to any company by HardwareUnboxed in the following video does not reflect Wccftech. In the video, HardwareUnboxed compares the performance and Quality modes of both AMD FSR 2 & NVIDIA DLSS 2 in two resolutions โ€” 1440p and 4K. Early in the video, it is stated that combining results for all settings and resolutions add to 104 individual results. Also, Hardware Unboxed looks at image quality will be above frame rates in the results as both upscaling technologies provide almost negligible performance. Another fact stated in the above video is how both companies' upscalers replace DLL libraries with their proprietary files. This grants each company an unfair advantage over the other, so Hardware Unboxed assured that no DLL modifications were made in the testing to offer a more accurate result from both AMD and NVIDIA. https://wccftech.com/nvidia-dlss-2-outshines-amd-fsr-2-across-26-game-test-by-hardwareunboxed/

  3. Nicola Sturgeon has said she wants to get on with her life and her job after a week that saw her husband arrested and her home searched by police. Scotland's former first minister was speaking for the first time since Peter Murrell was questioned over the SNP party's finances. The former SNP chief executive was arrested and released without charge pending further investigation. Ms Sturgeon told reporters recent days had been "obviously difficult". SNP facing 'biggest crisis in 50 years' - Mike Russell SNP auditors quit amid Peter Murrell police investigation Peter Murrell released without charge after arrest Outside her Glasgow home, which was the subject of a two-day search by Police Scotland, the former party leader said: "Well first off, there is obviously nothing I can say about the ongoing investigation. "As much as there are things I may want to say, I'm not able to do so, other than to say that, as has been the case, there will continue to be full co-operation. "The last few days have been obviously difficult, quite traumatic at times, but I understand that is part of a process." Asked if she had been questioned by officers, Ms Sturgeon replied: "I haven't, but I will fully co-operate with the police as and when they request that, if indeed they do." She declined to say whether detectives have indicated that they wish to speak to her. Police searched their home in Glasgow, with uniformed officers also searching the SNP's headquarters in Edinburgh. She asked for a "little bit of privacy in my own home" following the week's events. She added: "My neighbours, I think, are also entitled to a wee bit of privacy as well. "Over the years, as a result of living next door to me, they've been subjected to more than their fair share of disruption and inconvenience. "And that has obviously been particularly the case over the last couple of days." Read the latest headlines from Scotland Mr Murrell, who has been married to Ms Sturgeon since 2010, resigned as chief executive of the SNP after taking responsibility for misleading statements about a fall in party membership. Last year it emerged that he gave a loan of more than ยฃ100,000 to the SNP to help it out with a "cash flow" issue after the last election. The party had repaid about half of the money by October of that year. At the time an SNP spokesman said the loan was a "personal contribution made by the chief executive to assist with cash flow after the Holyrood election". He said it had been reported in the party's 2021 accounts. Ms Sturgeon told assembled media: "Peter's at home as you would expect it to be. Peter's not able to say anything. "Again, that's not necessarily a matter of choice. That's just the nature of this." Ms Sturgeon's comments follow a tumultuous week for the SNP. It emerged on Friday that the firm that audits the SNP's finances had resigned. Accountants Johnston Carmichael had worked with the party for more than a decade but said the decision was taken after a review of its clients. The BBC understands Johnston Carmichael resigned before Mr Murrell's arrest. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-scotland-politics-65221865
  4. A ghostly white snailfish has unknowingly smashed the record for the deepest fish ever seen after it was filmed at more than 27,000 feet beneath the ocean surface. Scientists on board the research vessel DSSV Pressure Drop stumbled across the snailfish, which is likely a juvenile, in September 2022 while using a remotely operated submersible attached with a baited camera in the Izu-Ogasawara Trench in the western Pacific, near Japan. The snailfish species is unknown, but scientists believe it belongs to the genus Pseudoliparis. It was spotted at a record-breaking depth of 27,349 feet (8,336 meters). The previous record holder for the deepest fish ever filmed was a Mariana snailfish (Pseudoliparis swirei), which was seen lurking at a depth of 26,831 feet (8,178 m) in the Mariana Trench โ€” the deepest known ocean trench on Earth, which is located to the south of the Izu-Ogasawara Trench. During the recent expedition near Japan, researchers also caught two snailfish from the species Pseudoliparis belyaevi in the Japan Trench, located to the north of the Izu-Ogasawara Trench, in baited traps set at a depth of 26,319 feet (8,022 m). This makes them the deepest fish ever caught by humans. There are more than 400 known species of snailfish, which all belong to the family Liparidae. They are found in shallow coastal waters all the way down to some of the deepest spots in Earth's oceans. Deep-dwelling snailfish, like the various record-breakers in the genus Pseudoliparis, can withstand pressure equivalent to more than 800 atmospheres, which is enough force to crush most living organisms. To do this, snailfish have evolved without swim bladders, which are air-filled sacs that provide buoyancy to most fish species. They have also replaced their scales with a gelatinous layer that protects them from the crushing depths, expedition lead scientist Alan Jamieson(opens in new tab), a marine biologist at the University of Western Australia, told The Guardian(opens in new tab). The snailfish also contain a fluid called osmolyte, which helps protect them on a cellular level, he said. It is not surprising that the record-breaking snailfish was a juvenile. Among most snailfish species, the young are specially adapted to live in deeper waters than adults. This protects the vulnerable youngsters from potential predators that can't venture deep enough to catch them, researchers wrote in a statement(opens in new tab). The new footage suggests that snailfish in the Japanese trenches may be much more abundant than similar species in other ocean trenches, such as the Mariana Trench. But it is unclear why this is the case, researchers wrote in the statement. The researchers hope to return to the two trenches near Japan โ€” and the nearby Ryukyu Trench โ€” to continue their research into the record-breaking snailfish and look for other bizarre deep sea creatures. "The Japanese trenches were incredible places to explore," Jamieson said in the statement. "They are so rich in life, even all the way at the bottom." Until now, nobody had ever seen or caught a fish in the Izu-Ogasawara Trench, so there is plenty more to find, he added. https://www.livescience.com/deepest-dwelling-fish-ever-seen-is-a-ghostly-snailfish-spotted-more-than-27000-feet-beneath-the-ocean-surface
  5. Nobody could dispute that BMW has got the bit firmly between its teeth concerning the business of brash, fast SUVs. How firmly is something that becomes apparent when you consider that the 523bhp, ยฃ109,000 BMW X7 M60i tested here isnโ€™t even the fastest, brashest BMW SUV you can buy, or even the second-most โ€“ step forward the new M-bespoke 653bhp BMW XM and the recently upgraded 628bhp X5 M. But, of course, the X7 M60iโ€™s remit is not simply to be as fleet-footed and dynamically able as itโ€™s possible for BMW to achieve. It must also be endlessly practical and lavishly comfortable. There is an overlap with the BMW 7 Series limousine here, which is an element neither of the hottest X7โ€™s uber-powerful stablemates need worry about. They need only be fast and brash. So who are the chief rivals of this wide-ranging SUV? Given this is such an expensive and niche recipe, there are a surprising number. Most notable is the latest Range Rover, the current class benchmark for both off-road marauding and rolling refinement back on terra firma. However, as a BMW and an M-lite one at that, the seven-seat X7 M60i needs to fight convincingly well on broader fronts. In dynamic terms, owners will expect it to be an alternative to the Porsche Cayenne, only with the all-round usability of Audiโ€™s Q7 and the everyday opulence of the Mercedes GLS. In fact, thereโ€™s an argument to be made that, in V8-engined flagship M60i guise, the X7 has the toughest job in the segment. So can it rise to the occasion, or will it prove as divisive to drive as to look upon? Range at a glance A bespoke M derivative of the X7 is something BMW has never offered, meaning the V8-powered M60i that replaces the pre-facelift M50i is the flagship, above two straight-six options starting at around ยฃ85,000. Interestingly, BMW has dropped the 395bhp M50d, a quad-turbo version of the straight-six turbo diesel. All models use the same eight-speed torque-converter automatic, which is an enhanced version of the existing Steptronic gearbox. Most buyers will opt for one of the six-cylinder versions, and they will have a choice of entry-level Excellence trim or the po[CENSORED]r M Sport trim, which adds various dark and sporty design touches, an M Aerodynamics package and 21in M alloy wheels. The equipment seen on the M60i builds on this considerably. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/bmw/x7
  6. Ukraine is able to export electricity for the first time in six months as its energy infrastructure recovers from months of repeated Russian attacks. Russia began its lengthy and deliberate assault on Ukraine's energy infrastructure last October. It led to power cuts and scheduled blackouts, leaving towns and cities in darkness during winter. Ukraine was forced to stop electricity exports - but will now be able to sell its excess power again. Energy Minister Herman Halushchenko signed an executive order authorising the exports, although local customers remain the priority. He said the system had been producing extra capacity for almost two months and that Ukrainians were not facing restrictions. "The most difficult winter has passed," Mr Halushchenko said on Friday. "The next step is to start exporting electricity, which will allow us to attract additional financial resources for the necessary reconstruction of the destroyed and damaged energy infrastructure." He also praised the "titanic work" of engineers and international partners to restore the system. Last month, residents across Ukraine told the BBC that power supplies were becoming more reliable. "The city has transformed," said Inna Shtanko, a young mother in Dnipro. "Finally, street lights are back, and it's no longer scary to walk the city streets." Has Putinโ€™s assault on Ukraineโ€™s power grid failed? From November: Most of Kyiv without power However, the operator of the country's electricity network, Ukrenergo, has warned that Ukraine could not count on Russian attacks stopping. Ukrenergo said on Saturday that Russia has launched more than 1,200 missiles and drones at its energy facilities so far during the war. The company described the assault as the largest attempt to destroy a European country's energy system. In cities across Ukraine this winter, some civilians had to use hubs known as "resilience centres" to keep warm during power cuts and freezing temperatures. The hubs provided power and heat, as well as basic supplies like food and medicines. Every one of Ukraine's thermal and hydroelectric power plants has been damaged since Russia began targeting energy infrastructure. Kyiv has also lost control of Europe's biggest nuclear power plant at Zaporizhzhia, which is in Russian hands. In June 2022, Ukraine had said it was hoping to bring in โ‚ฌ1.5bn (ยฃ1.33bn) from electricity exports to the EU - its main export market for energy since the war began - by the end of the year. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65220003

  9. The phones in our sub-Rs. 25,000 price bracket are roughly where the mid-range segment begins and some of them offer impressive performance, in the camera department for instance, considering their price. While the budget smartphone segment today offers phones with a decent mix of good software and hardware features, those seeking better camera performance or want added features will often find themselves looking for smartphones in the mid-range segment. Features such as optical image stabilisation (OIS) and high refresh rate OLED displays are getting common, with some manufacturers even offering curved-edge displays in this segment. The latest entrant is the Poco X5 Pro 5G and the Realme 10 Pro+ 5G, both of which offer really good value in terms of hardware. Another new entrant to our list is the Samsung Galaxy M53 5G which recently received a price cut and is now available from Rs. 23,990 in India. There's also the Xiaomi 11i 5G which we've added as a special mention as its virtually identical to the 11i HyperCharge (Review), except for the charging bit. Here's our list, in no particular order. Phones under Rs. 25,000Gadgets 360 rating (out of 10)Price in India (as recommended) Poco X5 Pro 5G8Rs. 22,999 Realme 10 Pro+ 5G8Rs. 24,999 Samsung Galaxy M53 5G8Rs. 23,990 Motorola Edge 308Rs. 24,999 iQoo Z58Rs. 23,990 Xiaomi 11i 5G-Rs. 24,999 Poco X5 Pro 5G The Poco X5 Pro 5G offers a great multimedia experience, solid performance, and good battery life. The design is subjective and if you ask us, we're not big fans of the way it looks. However, the lightweight and slim design might attract many buyers. The primary rear camera and the front camera do a good job but the other two have some room for improvement. All in all, if you want a phone that offers good performance and is a decent overall package, the Poco X5 Pro 5G can certainly be considered. https://www.gadgets360.com/mobiles/guide/best-android-phones-under-25000-mobile-buying-guide-3700172
  10. Introduction The Pro is going Ultra - Motorola's Edge 40 Pro comes along, inheriting a couple of the Edge 30 Ultra's bits, including super-fast charging and a zoom camera. Proper dust and water resistance returns to the company's mainstream lineup, too, and Motorola continues to push the boundaries for refresh rate on a non-gaming phone. Sounds like a pretty intriguing package then. The Edge 40 Pro is the global version of the China-only Moto X40 that's already been available for a few months - Motorola is following the same release schedule and naming convention we observed last year. It's unclear at this point when (or if) another incarnation with the same hardware will make its way to the US under a different name, as has been the case before. For the time being, the Edge 40 Pro is launching on the European market with an MSRP of โ‚ฌ900. Certainly not cheap, the Edge 40 Pro delivers a very high-end spec sheet. The latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 ticks inside, the 6.7-inch OLED display can refresh at up to 165Hz (not your pedestrian 120Hz or even Motorola's usual 144Hz), and the 4,600mAh battery should be able to take up to 125W of power when charging. A couple of 50MP cameras on the back ensure that your wide and ultrawide shots can get plenty of light and detail, and the ultrawide's autofocusing capability promises it's going to work for closeup shooting too. New for the 40 Pro is the 12MP zoom camera, coming straight from last year's 30 Ultra to replace the simple depth sensor on the 30 Pro - a most welcome development. The 60MP selfie camera is unchanged. The Edge 40 Pro puts a lot of focus on design and build too. The Gorilla Glass Victus sheets on each side of the phone ensure top-tier scratch and shatter resistance, but they're also curved along all of their edges - durability has rarely been this elegant, and it's also nice that the 'Edge' name means something again. On top of that, the Edge 40 Pro is properly IP68-rated unlike the merely splash-proof Motos of before. Then there's the Ready For functionality that turns the Edge 40 Pro into a makeshift PC - an alternative to Samsung's DeX that only Motorola provides, on its higher-end models. You know who you are, if you have a use case for it. Motorola Edge 40 Pro specs at a glance: Body: 161.2x74.0x8.6mm, 199g; Glass front/glass back (Gorilla Glass Victus), aluminum frame; IP68 dust/water resistant (up to 1.5m for 30 min). Display: 6.67" OLED, 1B colors, 165Hz, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 1080x2400px resolution, 20:9 aspect ratio, 393ppi. Chipset: Qualcomm SM8550-AB Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 (4 nm): Octa-core (1x3.2 GHz Cortex-X3 & 2x2.8 GHz Cortex-A715 & 2x2.8 GHz Cortex-A710 & 3x2.0 GHz Cortex-A510); Adreno 740. Memory: 256GB/512GB UFS4.0 storage, 12GB LPDDR5X RAM. OS/Software: Android 13. Rear camera: Wide (main): 50 MP, f/1.9, 1/1.55", 1.0ยตm, Omni-directional PDAF, OIS; Ultra wide angle: 50 MP, f/2.2, 114หš, 1/2.76", 0.64ยตm, AF; Telephoto: 12 MP, f/1.6, 1/2.93", 1.22ยตm, PDAF, 2x optical zoom. Front camera: 60 MP, f/2.2, (wide), 1/2.8", 0.61ยตm. Video capture: Rear camera: 8K@30fps, 4K@30/60fps, 1080p@30/60/120/240fps, 720p@960fps, 10-bit HDR10+, gyro-EIS; Front camera: 4K@30fps, 1080p@30fps. Battery: 4600mAh; 125W wired, PD3.0, QC5, 50% in 7 min (advertised), 15W wireless, 5W reverse wireless. Misc: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); NFC; stereo speakers; Ready For 3.5 support. Motorola Edge 40 Pro unboxing The Edge 40 Pro's presentation is similar to what the 30 Ultra showed up in. The now-black cardboard box is full-size, so you know there will be accessories inside, unlike some other top-tier devices, but Motorola does try to keep a lower carbon footprint with its entirely plastic-free packaging. Not only is the phone rated for 125W charging, it comes with a charger to match, TurboPower-branded too. A USB-C cable is also included, naturally. Additionally, Motorola provides a clear snap-on protective back cover in the box - Victus or otherwise, glass is glass. Mind you, the back cover may not be included in all retail bundles everywhere. Similarly, don't be surprised if you receive a pair of USB-C earbuds or if your Moto comes with a screen protector - we didn't get either one. Which exactly subset of these three you'll get is subject to regional specifics. Everyone gets a phone though, so let's move on to that. https://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_edge_40_pro-review-2552.php

  13. Scott Benton has been filmed by undercover reporters appearing to explain how companies and MPs can avoid registering corporate hospitality. The MP was suspended by the Tory Party after The Times published a video of him offering to lobby for a fake firm. In a fresh story on the same meeting, he appears to suggest that firms can put falsely low values on tickets they offer for live sports and other events. Commons rules require MPs to disclose hospitality worth ยฃ300 or more. Mr Benton joked racing tickets he had accepted often came to ยฃ295. The Blackpool South MP, who chairs an all-party group with links to the gambling industry, has declared only one race meeting since he was elected in 2019. This was a visit to Ascot in 2021 worth ยฃ1,400, funded by the Betting and Gaming Council, an industry lobbying group. Benton suspended as Tory MP after lobbying sting Speaking to the undercover reporters, who were posing as investors in the gambling industry, he said: "A lot of companies try to be quite cute about the level of the hospitality to make sure it falls just under [ยฃ300], so people don't have to declare it. "It normally works for the company, and it normally works for MPs as well. "Without saying too much, you'd be amazed at the number of times I've been to races and the ticket comes to ยฃ295," he was filmed saying, and laughing. The MPs' code of conduct says members must register gifts, benefits or hospitality "with a value of over ยฃ300 which they receive form a UK source". The BBC has not seen the full, unedited video of Mr Benton's meeting with the reporters. He has been approached for fresh comment. According to the Times - but not in its video posted online - he also told its reporters: "I probably shouldn't say this, but essentially all MPs are looking for is an email chain saying this is how much a ticket cost, so if we get caught out it's like, well the company told me it cost this much. "And essentially what you [the company] paid for is nobody else's business." Mr Benton is also said by the paper to have suggested MPs can help companies who give them hospitality. "Most would, especially if the ask wasn't too onerous, which would be 'Can you try and find out X, Y and Z from members of staff, file a parliamentary question, or submit this question next time oral questions come up in the House of Commons". This section also does not appear in the video posted online. Mr Benton was suspended as a Tory MP after referring himself to the parliamentary standards commissioner on Wednesday. This followed a Times report that he was offered a paid advisory role by the undercover reporters. He did not pursue the role and no specific rules appear to have been broken, though the code of conduct says MPs should "never undertake any action which would cause significant damage to the reputation and integrity of the House of Commons as a whole, or of its Members generally". Mr Benton was secretly filmed saying he could table parliamentary questions and leak a confidential policy paper. Some MPs have declared hospitality under ยฃ300 - including Tory backbencher Peter Bone and Labour's shadow culture secretary Lucy Powell. Mr Benton has not declared any hospitality provided by gambling companies in the past year. He has declared ยฃ700 worth of hospitality for the Championship play-off final from the English Football League. MPs and members of the House of Lords routinely accept gifts and hospitality from companies, individuals, charities and other organisations. This is not against the rules, provided they declare it in the register of members interests. The gambling industry is one of the biggest spenders on corporate hospitality at Westminster. According to BBC analysis, MPs have accepted at least ยฃ51,000 from gambling companies over the past year. In all but one case, this was through donations of tickets and hospitality to events including sports events and concerts. MPs attended concerts by Ed Sheeran and Adele, a Championship playoff match at Wembley, and Cheltenham Races for free. The donations were declared by 22 Conservative MPs, 13 Labour MPs and one independent. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-65207681
  14. New research has found that troodontids, a group of bird-like dinosaurs that lived 74 million years ago, had high enough body temperatures to brood their eggs in communal nests. Bird-like dinosaurs that lived up to 74 million years ago didn't hog nests; instead, these beaked dinosaurs shared communal nests where several female nestmates often laid more than 20 eggs together, which these feathery dinos then brooded to keep warm, new research suggests. Most dinosaurs are thought to have laid eggs "en masse" and buried them in the ground for incubation, like crocodiles and other cold-blooded reptiles do today. But not Troodon, a small predatory dinosaur that was closely related to modern birds and which lived in the late Cretaceous, 74 million to 66 million years ago. Researchers were already aware of brooding behavior in some theropods โ€” a group of bipedal, mostly meat-eating dinosaurs that includes Tyrannosaurus rex and Velociraptor โ€” and recorded an ultra-rare dinosaur fossil brooding atop its eggs in 2021. Now, fossilized eggshells have revealed that Troodons were endotherms, meaning they were warm blooded and could self-regulate their body temperature. This confirms that the dinosaurs could maintain their body temperature high enough to brood their eggs. "Our study indicates that Troodon had a high body temperature, like birds, so it certainly would have been capable of providing heat for incubation while sitting on its eggs," Darla Zelenitsky(opens in new tab), a paleontologist at the University of Calgary in Canada and co-author of the study in which the finding was published, told Live Science in an email. What's more, these dinosaurs could probably switch between a warm-blooded state and a state of cold-blooded torpor โ€” a strategy common in modern birds, called heterothermy. Troodon maintained its body temperature around 107.6 degrees Fahrenheit (42 degrees Celsius) but it could drop to 84.2 F (29 C) to cope with limited food or harsh weather, Zelenitsky said. In the study, published Monday (April 3) in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences(opens in new tab), researchers examined the patterns of eggshell mineralization in eggs belonging to the species Troodon formosus and compared it with those of modern birds and reptiles. They used a technique that analyzed the calcite content of eggshells and determined the speed and temperature at which they formed. "Birds and reptiles have two different mineralization patterns for what concerns the production of eggshells," lead study author Mattia Tagliavento(opens in new tab), a postdoctoral researcher of paleontology at Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany, told Live Science. "Since reptiles and birds are, respectively, the ancestors and descendants of dinosaurs, dinosaurs should have either one of the two, or be somewhere in the middle." Birds have one functional ovary, having lost the other one early on in their evolution, likely to limit their weight and facilitate flight. To counterbalance this loss, they evolved the ability to precipitate calcite and form eggshells quickly, producing a few, relatively large eggs per clutch. Reptiles, on the other hand, have two functional ovaries that produce several small eggs at a time. The mineralization process is much slower than in birds, however, which limits the number of eggs they can lay. The researchers were surprised to find that T. formosus retained slow, reptile-like eggshell mineralization despite having already evolved bird-like traits, such as heterothermy. "With our work, we show that Troodon was probably in between, producing just two eggs at a time and laying them โ€” not a proper 'en masse' production, but with a pace that is still slower than modern birds," Tagliavento said. The team also used estimates of Troodon's weight and the amount of calcite per eggshell to calculate that a female could have laid four to six eggs per clutch, which did not match the number of eggs usually found in their nests. "A single individual could not have laid over 20 eggs in a reasonable amount of time to ensure egg and embryo survival," Zelenitsky said. This suggests that females were nestmates, laying and tending to their eggs in the company of others. The finding sheds light on the evolutionary transition from cold-bloodedness to endothermy in dinosaurs, Tagliavento said. "We may have a chance to explore the entire dinosaur ancestry and see exactly where the switch happened," he said. https://www.livescience.com/clever-bird-like-dinosaurs-that-lived-74-million-years-ago-got-cozy-in-communal-nests-study-suggests
  15. The Bentley Continental GT range has recently become more streamlined but also more nuanced and less obvious. You might not know what you're looking at. That said, the easiest way to identify a flagship Mulliner example remains via its wheels. Painted, polished and partially skeletonised, they would be unmistakable even at 15in in diameter, let alone at 22in, and are unique to the derivative that sits at the top of the Continental tree. Thereโ€™s also the Double Diamond front grille, whose blindingly bright lattice overflows into the lower air intakes. Somehow it manages to be noticeably more noticeable than even the catch fencing of the standard car. Your next task is to count the exhaust tips, to work out said Mullinerโ€™s calibre. A quartet means the presence of Bentleyโ€™s Porsche-derived 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8. It makes 542bhp and is a tremendous unit for this application. Even this V8 Mulliner costs ยฃ228,155, which is some ยฃ50,000 more than the regular V8 S and almost an exact match for Aston Martinโ€™s discontinued V12 DBS (donโ€™t stress if you missed out, because the 759bhp DBS 770 Ultimate will live on for a bit). However, only two outlets mean you have the 6.0-litre W12 on your hands, and now it gets interesting. Up until this point, the 12-cylinder Mulliner came with Bentleyโ€™s twin-turbocharged W12 in its โ€˜ordinaryโ€™ 626bhp tune. The car also rode on the standard air-sprung chassis. Power, performance and driving satisfaction mattered, but they werenโ€™t necessarily the main event; luxury was. The Mulliner was the most luxury-preoccupied, ornamental model in the range and was the Continental happy to be thrown into a contest with the ultra-dignified Rolls-Royce Wraith. Less so against the DBS. But now the brief has been reconsidered. Today, the W12 Mulliner is supplied with the chassis and powertrain of the 650bhp W12 Speed โ€“ a machine with more dynamism at its core. The resulting 24bhp uplift is essentially irrelevant in the context of a car that weighs as much as an S3 Lotus Exige with another S3 Lotus Exige parked on its roof. However, the chassis upgrades arenโ€™t irrelevant. Speed spec means the W12 Mulliner benefits from having a new torque-vectoring rear differential, retuned active anti-roll bars and an adaptation of the rear-steering set-up from the Flying Spur saloon. The Speed is as B-road-hungry as the current Continental gets, while the Mulliner is, as ever, the most lavish, so you can see what theyโ€™ve done here. The resulting uber-Conti costs ยฃ258,000. Predictably, itโ€™s an almighty thing on the road, being utterly resolute yet showing plenty of poise. Itโ€™s pretty almighty on a private test facility, too. A diary clash meant that, to photograph this car, we had to piggyback another shoot, one taking place at Millbrook Proving Ground. As such, it would have been rude not to get out the telemetry gear and run some numbers. Sitting at the start of Millbrookโ€™s mile straight in the W12 Mullinerโ€™s near-silent, double-glazed interior, with its milled-aluminium surfaces, endless stitching, quilted-leather door cards and other haute-level Mulliner finishing, you struggle to believe that 7.5sec later you will be doing 100mph. Mostly because that time would make this palatial Bentley faster to triple figures than Porscheโ€™s most recent 911 GT3 RS. But telemetry doesnโ€™t lie. Such refinement and material richness shouldnโ€™t go hand in hand with this sort of pace, yet this a juxtaposition the Continental pulls off better than any other car, and the W12 Mulliner better than any other Continental. As that mammoth engine pumps 664lb ft of torque to four corners almost throughout its 6250rpm scope, and in an unbroken torrent, thanks to a still-excellent dual-clutch gearbox, you reside calmly in the eye of the storm. That said, the potency of the performance stays with you. We took the car well into triple figures, and while Bentley claims 208mph, at Nardรฒ I bet you would hit 215mph or even 220mph. Behind the chintzy grille, this car is an utter hammer. So itโ€™s fast, but does it handle? As with the Speed, those chassis modifications improve the driving experience but donโ€™t transform it. This is a large and heavy car, best stroked along at seven- or eight-tenths, when it can be genuinely rewarding. The steering has authentic weighting and pacing. Combined with throttle response thatโ€™s unexpectedly crisp under medium throttle loads, it means the Mulliner is intuitive to drive from the get-go. And while the โ€™box can take a moment to shuffle itself while youโ€™re manoeuvring slowly, itโ€™s polished at speed. It slips gently between cogs in its most laid-back map but, when youโ€™re on it, elicits a sharp yet satisfyingly rich glissando from the exhaust on upshifts. Special mention also goes to the damping, especially in the Goldilocks Bentley driving mode, which feels custom-developed for British cross-country routes, because it is. It allows the body to breathe with the road, yet just when you feel all that heft is about to get away from you, itโ€™s delicately brought back to heel. Superb. This car also slides neatly if you goad it, thereafter quickly straightening up and maximising its prodigious levels of traction. So, is it the ultimate Mk3 Continental? Depends how you frame it. At this price, you might not appreciate plastic gearshift paddles or the conspicuous lack of Android Auto. Consider also that the V8 S costs far less, is sweeter to drive and listen to and is hardly lacking in material comforts. In the case of the epic Mulliner W12, you really have to want excess, as if it were a commodity. Also know that this Mulliner costs what the 812 Superfast costs. The Ferrari is more tiring, but that V12โ€ฆ In short, Speed internals with Mulliner finishing is a hell of a marriage. In that sense, this car really is the ultimate. At least for now. For the limited-run Bacalar (also a Mulliner job), the W12 was taken to 730bhp. Chief engineer Matthias Rabe has hinted that the Continental may soon breathe that kind of fire. A rabid Supersports model, as Crewe has done before, would justify the output. Wonโ€™t come with levelling centre caps, mind. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/bentley/continental-gt/first-drives/bentley-continental-gt-w12-mulliner-2023-uk-first
  16. French leader Emmanuel Macron has urged his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping to help stop Russia's war in Ukraine. "I know I can count on you to bring Russia to its senses, and bring everyone back to the negotiating table," he told Mr Xi in Beijing. Mr Xi said China and France had the "ability and responsibility" to safeguard world peace. But Moscow said there were "no prospects for a peaceful settlement" so far and its offensive would continue. Mr Macron is on a state visit to China that is being highly scrutinised after years of deteriorating relations between the West and China, which has refused to condemn Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Mr Macron is also seeking to bolster trade ties. He is joined by European Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen, who he invited to take part in talks with the Chinese leadership, as well as a large business delegation. Europeโ€™s good cop and bad cop to meet Xi Jinping On Thursday afternoon, Mr Macron was treated to an elaborate military parade in Beijing, before entering closed-door talks with Mr Xi, which Chinese and French officials described as "frank" and "friendly". Speaking to the press afterwards, Mr Xi said "China advocates for peace talks and seeks a political solution", and called for "rational restraint" from the international community. He also reiterated that nuclear weapons should not be used in the conflict. Russia said earlier this week it planned to place tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus, near the ally's western border with Nato countries. Mr Macron said "we can't have a safe and stable Europe" as long as Ukraine remained occupied, and that it was "unacceptable" that a member of the UN Security Council had violated the organisation's charter. The French leader struck a cordial tone in his speech, often turning to Mr Xi during the press conference and addressing him directly. It stood in contrast to Mr Xi's impassive delivery to the press. In a separate press conference later, Ms von der Leyen stressed that if China provided arms to Russia, it would be against international law and "significantly harm" the relationship between the EU and China. She also said she expected Beijing to play a role that "promotes a just peace", and that she stood "firmly" behind Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky's peace plan - which calls for the complete withdrawal of Russian troops. China has released its own peace plan which Western nations have been generally dismissive of, saying it sides too much with Russia. But Mr Zelensky has expressed interest in it and called for direct talks with Mr Xi - who has yet to publicly respond. But Ms von der Leyen said during her discussion with Mr Xi he "reiterated willingness" to speak with Mr Zelensky "when the conditions and timing are right". On Thursday, Russia acknowledged that China has "a very effective and commanding potential for mediation". "But the situation with Ukraine is complex, so far there are no prospects for a peaceful settlement," said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who added that Russia had "no choice" but to continue with the war. Mr Macron is being hosted at a state dinner on Thursday night, and on Friday the two will travel to the southern city of Guangzhou where they will dine again together privately. The trip marks the most politically significant interaction Mr Xi has had with a Western leader since he met US President Joe Biden in November at the G20 summit in Bali last November. With this visit Mr Macron, who has been keen to burnish his credentials as an international peace broker, has now had personal contact with all the major players in the Ukraine conflict. Observers believe he knows he is unlikely to come back from this China trip with any major diplomatic achievement to boast of. The chances of Mr Xi changing his views on Russia and Ukraine in any significant way are, to say the least, small. Mr Macron is likely to emphasise small advances, points in common, and the benefits of engagement through trade and talks. He is said to believe that just because France is part of the Western alliance, and close to the US, does not mean it cannot deepen its relations with China which is allied to Russia. In his remarks to the press, the French leader mentioned little of China's human rights issues - a perennial point of contention between China and the West - but said that while they remain important to France, "it's better to be respectful than to lecture". Mr Macron's trip also saw several significant deals signed by French and Chinese corporations and cultural institutions, witnessed by him and Mr Xi. He is travelling with a delegation comprising business leaders, artists and museum officials. They include top executives from plane manufacturer Airbus, luxury group LVMH, and nuclear energy producer EDF. The trip to Beijing, four years after Mr Macron last paid a visit to Mr Xi, takes place during strikes and unrest in France over unpo[CENSORED]r reforms of the pension system. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-china-65198757

  20. If you are looking for excellent value and don't mind shelling out a bit more for solid camera performance, you have indeed come to the right place. The sub-Rs. 40,000 segment is all about premium features and value pricing. It's rare to find a smartphone in this segment that seems overpriced mainly because companies squeeze in more features and hardware than what most buyers would expect or have on their checklist. Our latest entrants include the OnePlus 11R 5G and the Vivo V27 Pro 5G, both of which brings along a solid set of premium features to the sub-Rs. 40,000 smartphones segment. Here are the best smartphones priced under Rs. 40,000 in India that are reviewed and rated by Gadgets 360, in no particular order. Phones under Rs. 40,000Gadgets 360 rating (out of 10)Price in India (as recommended) OnePlus 11R 5G9Rs. 39,999 Vivo V27 Pro 5G8Rs. 37,999 Samsung Galaxy S21 FE 5G9Rs. 34,999 Motorola Edge 30 Pro9Rs. 39,999 Xiaomi 11T Pro9Rs. 36,999 Oppo Reno 7 Pro 5G8Rs. 34,999 Realme GT Neo 3-Rs. 36,999 OnePlus 11R 5G The OnePlus 11R 5G will appeal to many OnePlus fans who have been waiting for something similar to the OnePlus 7T to come along โ€” a phone with a flagship SoC under Rs. 40,000. If you play a lot of demanding mobile games and require good battery life, the 11R 5G will not disappoint. The main camera is also very capable, although the rest of them leave a lot to be desired. I think what many people are going to like most is the fact that the 11R 5G looks just like the more expensive 11 5G, giving it flaunt value. The OnePlus 11R 5G could have been better in few areas, but especially after last year's offering, I think it's a solid comeback. https://www.gadgets360.com/mobiles/guide/best-phone-india-under-40000-3781238
  21. Introduction The OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite is the company's latest entry-level model for Asian and European markets. The third-generation variant is a modest upgrade over its predecessor, with the most notable changes on paper being the switch to a new 108MP main camera and faster 67W SUPERVOOC charging. The Nord CE 3 Lite is also largely identical to the Realme 10 Pro, a phone we have reviewed in the past. This means it has the same 6.72-inch 120Hz 1080p display, 5000mAh battery, a headphone jack, and the aforementioned 108MP main camera. And since this is, after all, a rebranded Realme phone, it also lacks unique OnePlus features like the alert slider. So at the risk of retreading familiar ground, let's get on with the review of the Nord CE 3 Lite. Unboxing The Nord CE 3 Lite comes with basic packaging including the phone, a clear silicone case, an 80W SUPERVOOC charger, and a charging and data cable. The case has flaps for the USB port and the headphone jack, which aside from being annoying, can also block some headphones from being plugged in properly. https://www.gsmarena.com/oneplus_nord_ce_3_lite_hands_on-review-2550.php
