  2. AMD's Zen 3-based Ryzen 5000 (Vermeer) processors are among the best CPUs currently on the market. However, it would seem that the chipmaker has an excess of leftover Zen 2 dies as a new USB-IF listing (via Komachi_Ensaka) has exposed three unreleased Zen 2 processors. The submission mentions the Athlon Gold 4100GE, Ryzen 5 4500 and Ryzen 3 4100 processors with the A1 revision. We don't know for certain if the trio of AMD chips are wielding Zen 2 cores. Since AMD's utilizing the Ryzen 5000 branding for Zen 3 products, it's unrealistic to think that the chipmaker would use Zen 3 outside of the moniker. Given the model names, the unannounced AMD processors could be a refresh of their Ryzen 3000 counterparts. There's also the possibility that processors may be special SKUs for OEMs, and we know how AMD likes producing custom-tailored chips for its partners. Starting with the Athlon Gold 4100GE, the processor could be a follow-up for the Athlon Gold 3150GE, which is an OEM APU. AMD's Athlon Gold SKUs feature integrated Vega graphics solutions so the Athlon Gold 4100GE shouldn't be an exception. While we don't know the core count or clock speeds for the APU, the GE denomination tells us that the Athlon Gold 4100GE is restricted to a 35W TDP (thermal design power). On the other hand, it's reasonable to assume that the Ryzen 5 4500 and Ryzen 3 4100 are the direct successors to the Ryzen 5 3500 and Ryzen 3 3100, respectively. For reference, the Ryzen 3 3500 is a hexa-core chip, while the Ryzen 3 3100 is a quad-core part. Both feature Zen 2 cores, adhere to a 65W TDP and lacks integrated graphics. We suspect that the Ryzen 5 4500 and Ryzen 3 4100 will inherit the majority of their predecessors' traits, but plausibly sport higher clock speeds. It's unknown when AMD submitted the entry to the USB-IF, but it's more than enough evidence that the chipmaker has been preparing the three processors. Perhaps, the chipmaker will launch them silently soon, but only time will tell.
  3. Windows 10 version 21H2 has been officially unveiled by Microsoft, the next feature update for the OS which will land later this year, and it’s now out in preview form. In a blog post, Microsoft’s John Cable, VP Program Management, Windows Servicing and Delivery, observed that while all the fuss has been around Windows 11 of late, Microsoft hasn’t completely forgotten about Windows 10. Windows 11 release date, news, and features How to speed up Windows 10 We show you how to uninstall a Windows 10 update Cable noted: “While we are excited for the next generation of Windows with Windows 11, we are also focused on supporting the more than 1.3 billion monthly active devices on Windows 10.” The 21H2 update is rolling out for testing now, and will again be another minor one, and that’ll be the third such upgrade in a row which doesn’t make any major introductions on the feature front, with just tweaking and honing taking place. Cable said the update will “have a scoped set of features” and will be deployed “using servicing technology” just like a monthly cumulative update, which is Microsoft-speak for 21H2 being another small upgrade that’ll be enabled with the flick of a switch when the time comes (with the actual files preloaded before that). This means that anyone running the May 2020 Update or newer will be able to migrate in a snap with a swift installation and upgrade process, because that version (v2004) and onwards are essentially the same core build of the OS. 21H2 means business 21H2 will be focused on productivity and security, meaning much of the changes will be about tightening the defenses of Windows 10, and adding bits and pieces for business users. That includes better Wi-Fi security via WPA3 H2E standards, work on Windows Hello for Business to support “simplified passwordless deployment models”, plus a heavyweight change as follows: “GPU compute support in the Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) and Azure IoT Edge for Linux on Windows (EFLOW) deployments for machine learning and other compute intensive workflows.” In short, there’s nothing here for consumers to get excited about. The 21H2 update is now being rolled out to Windows 10 testers who were shifted over to the Release Preview channel from Beta due to their PCs failing to meet the system requirements for Windows 11. In other words, there’s a limited set of folks testing right now. Furthermore, the above changes aren’t in this initial preview build, and these features will be applied in future preview versions as and when they’re finished.
  4. If you watch comic book movies at all, chances are you've seen dozens of interviews with stars of the dozens of Marvel Studios films and noticed how tight-lipped they are (except Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo). Even the people writing the films are often kept in the dark about certain this, revealed Black Widow writer Eric Pearson in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Spoilers follow for Black Widow's post-credits sequence. As with so many other Marvel Studios films, Black Widow ends with a post-credits sequence that drops clues for what's next in the MCU. In a scene set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson)'s adoptive sister Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) mourns her sister at her grave site, only for her quiet moment to be interrupted by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis Dreyfuss) blowing her nose to cartoonish effect. Val then hands Yelena the photo of her next target: Jeremy Renner's Clint Barton, aka Hawkeye. Now Playing: Black Widow (2020) - Official Final Trailer "I felt bad," Person said. "They told me I got to [write the post-credits scene], so I was really excited I got to do a lot to shape Valentina's personality, but they told me 'and then at the end, this is the target.' They were like, 'Don't worry about it. You don't have to know that.' I was like, 'Who am I screwing over? Something is going on! I don't have an answer for this!'" And it isn't because Pearson is the new kid in the MCU. In addition to writing Black Widow, he co-wrote Thor: Ragnarok and worked as a writer and story editor on ABC's Agent Carter series. Pearson didn't get his answer, though. "They were like, 'You don't need to. We are going to figure that out.' I remember writing it and feeling super guilty. 'I hope whatever writer is working on this next chapter is going to be okay with what I've done to them.'" The interview covers a bunch more ground about the process of writing the film, including scenes that Pearson himself had to act out with the other actors, the pronunciation of a certain European city, and working with Scarlett Johansson as the first MCU star to executive produce their own film, and is well worth the read.
  5. Average selling prices of high-end graphics cards more than doubled in the recent quarters due to insufficient GPU and components supply amid growing demand from gamers and miners. But as supply gets better and demand from miners is lowering, the prices of graphics cards are projected to get lower starting this quarter. Demand for modern high end graphics cards based on AMD's RDNA 2 and Nvidia's Ampere architecture from gamers will remain high in the coming quarters. But as China's government is doing everything to crack down crypto currency mining and trading, demand from mining farms will inevitably get lower, according to sources in the supply chain. This is according to a report from DigiTimes. Furthermore, since Ethereum mining is no longer as profitable as it used to be, individual miners will be less inclined to buy new graphics cards. Now that mining does not make a lot of money, many miners and even mining farms are inclined to sell off their hardware while they still can. Flooding the secondhand market with used graphics cards will inevitably affect pricing of new boards, which is not particularly good for the makers of video cards and resellers. Sources in the supply chain believe that prices of graphics cards will return to normal levels in the second half of the year, so in the coming months. This will help to attract demand from gamers not only to add-in-boards (AIBs), but also to other PC components, including motherboards, CPUs, memory modules, and storage devices. As a result, while profitability of companies like Asus, ASRock, Gigabyte, and MSI will drop somewhat in the second half of the year since they will be unable to charge the same high premiums for their products, they will still enjoy sales growth. Normally, unit sales of graphics cards improve in the third quarter compared to the second quarter, so prices will likely decrease in general. It is noteworthy that some people in the supply chain believe that the cryptocurrency mining craze will return, along with the abnormally high prices of graphics cards. Meanwhile, as companies like AMD and Nvidia improve supply of their GPUs, we can at least expect price hikes to be moderate even if mining frenzy returns.
  6. The best ecommerce platforms can enable your business to set up an online store that suits your needs. THE BEST ECOMMERCE PLATFORMS 1. Wix 2. Bluehost + WooCommerce 3. Shopify 4. BigCommerce 5. CoreCommerce 6. Shift4Shop (formerly 3DCart) There is a huge variety of ecommerce platform packages from which to choose, so building an online store has never been easier. To begin, first you'll need ecommerce web hosting, which is to say hosting that will scale up with your business without interruption. Next you'll need shopping cart software to run with your ecommerce site. This will probably include a payment gateway for credit card processing, though if you're already established and have a decent enough credit rating you could apply for merchant services to reduce transaction costs. Your ecommerce website doesn't have to be expensive to design, either, as there are plenty of ecommerce themes available. Additionally, if you also have a bricks-and-mortar store than a Point of Sale (POS) system for mobile credit card processing can be particularly desirable. Which ecommerce software is best for your business depends entirely on your specific requirements. If you're an online-only outfit, then POS integration won't be necessary, but you may get a lot of business from overseas, in which case foreign currency support would be a requirement. In this article, we’re going to highlight some of the best ecommerce platforms available right now, before moving on to consider other options you might want to explore in terms of creating your own ecommerce solution.
  7. The Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection on PC now offers the ability to change graphical options in-game, one month after the collection was released. PC players were upset at the "barebones" PC port of the collection of Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razer's Edge because it lacked a number of features typically found in PC games, like the ability to change the resolution in-game. Version 1.0.0.2 adds a number of options to the in-game menu: display mode, resolution, V-Sync, triple buffering, anti-aliasing, depth of field, and display shadows. Some of the options previously existed, like resolution, however it could only be changed in the game's properties in the Steam library. While this update does add a number of features that were missing from the initial release, it does not offer a fix for all of them. Notably, Ninja Gaiden Sigma still does not offer mouse and keyboard support, only being playable with a controller. Now Playing: NINJA GAIDEN: Master Collection - Character Showcase Gameplay Trailer While at the time of launch a representative for Koei Tecmo said the company has "no comment to offer" on these concerns, it appears that the company is aware of the issues players have with the PC version and are fixing some of them. Koei Tecmo and developer Team Ninja have not publicly said when--or if--more updates will be released for the PC version. Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection is available now on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
  8. Corsair has released a brand new product for its Hydro X lineup called the XD7 RGB distribution plate. This distribution plate doubles as a pump and reservoir combo and comes in the form factor of a 360mm radiator, meaning you can install this distribution plate into any case supporting 360mm radiators. The XD7's biggest features are its internal pump combo and its form factor, which allows you to delete any large reservoirs or pumps you might have taking up significant space in your system. All you're left with is radiators and tubing, which can give custom loops a cleaner look. The XD7 design is quite interesting. It mimics Corsair's MagLev 120mm RGB fans, making you think it's a real radiator with fans when in reality it's just a distribution plate. This is largely thanks to the XD7's mounting system that requires support for a 360mm radiator. Still, this makes the XD7 look right at home in your case and will match any other radiators and Corsair RGB fans in your system. Corsair XD7 Distribution Plate Each "fan housing" has 36 controllable RGB LEDS with the Corsair logo in the middle, similar in appearance to the central hub in a Corsair fan. The see-through acrylic allows you to watch your coolant flowing through the distribution plate as well as the Xylem D5 pump. To run the RGB leds, you'll have to pair the XD7 with a Corsair iCue controller that's sold separately. Please close pop-out player to resume playback. The XD7 also comes with a 24-pin power supply jumper bridge, specifically designed for starting up the XD7 without turning on your PC, and features a temperature sensor inside so you can keep an eye on coolant temperatures. To connect your CPU block, GPU block, and radiators together, the XD7 comes with six inlet and outlet ports to connect all your components together. The Hydro X Series XD7 Distribution plate is available now on Corsair's website for $249.99. It's not available yet at po[CENSORED]r retailers like Newegg or Amazon, but we expect that will change soon enough.
  9. Windows 11 is finally official, with a new look and much more after being unveiled at Microsoft's big event on June 24. Showcasing the Fluent design language and more, the new upgrade can also be tried out on the Insider channels, ready to download and use on machines that meet the minimum requirements. There is also a huge redesign of the Microsoft Store, allowing Android apps from the Amazon App Store to be used, so you can download TikTok and other apps if you wish. Plenty of discoveries are still being made with the updated Insider build and from what Microsoft are confirming with other vendors and users, but we're making sure that we're updating this page with everything that's been confirmed so far. There's still some confusion as to the system requirements of what Windows 11 needs for your PC, mainly due to a component called TPM, but it looks as though Microsoft are looking into this. While we wait for more confirmation from the company, here's everything we know about the release date, the new features, and more for Windows 11. Cut to the chase What is it? Windows 11 is the successor to Windows 10 When is it out? Likely late October How much does it cost? Free Windows 11 release date Microsoft says Windows 11 will be out "this holiday season" – so likely sometime between late November and Christmas. There is also going to be a yearly update of the new operating system, similar to Apple's efforts with macOS. While Microsoft released a tool that allowed you to see if your desktop PC or laptop will be able to run Windows 11, it was confirmed to be buggy, giving erroneous results for machines that would have no problem in running the update. However, another tool has been released which gives you much clearer detail for how eligible for PC is. It looks as though Microsoft are hinting at a release for Windows 11 in October. Countless screenshots have the date of October 20, alongside messages that state how many are looking forward to "turning it up to 11 in October!" Windows 11 hint of October release How to download Windows 11 Microsoft have updated the test build, named 22000.65 (KB5004745) for Windows Insiders on the developer or beta channel, we have a handy guide all about how to download it. Before you do though, the best point of call would be to make sure that your PC is enrolled for Microsoft's Insider Program first, as long as it meets the requirements. But do be aware, we advise to only run it on a PC that's not your main machine, as there are plenty of small issues for now. Windows 11 update showing as available In the meantime, vendors such as Lenovo have released some guidance to other users who have machines running Windows 7 and above, that it may be a free upgrade, but with a caveat. There's even an option to downgrade to Windows 10 if you are experiencing issues with Windows 11. This is available in the current Insider builds, but you can only do it within 10 days of upgrading your machine, otherwise a clean install has to be done in order to go to Windows 10. Windows 11 Recovery screen, showing the rollback to Windows 10 unavailable Minimum Specifications There's been a lot of discussion as to which devices are eligible for Windows 11. Regardless of the TPM requirement, others are simply wondering if they need to look to upgrade their PC or laptop soon. For now, Microsoft have published the requirements for the update, but they are subject to change as we near release and the company take feedback on board. Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with at least two cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or SoC RAM: 4GB Storage: 64GB System Firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable TPM: Trusted Platform Module 2.0 Graphics Card: DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver Display: 720p, 8-bit per color channel, at least 9-inch diagonal Internet Connection and Microsoft Account: Windows 11 Home requires an active internet connection and a Microsoft Account to complete initial, first-use setup of the operating system, or when switching a device out of Windows 11 Home in S-mode. Advertisement Windows 111 WhyNotWin11 app How much is Windows 11? Windows 11 will be a free update for existing Windows users – you'll need to be online to download, install and activate Home versions, and you'll need to have a Microsoft account when installing it on or upgrading your PC or tablet. So far Microsoft have released the hardware requirements for Windows 11, but there's confusion over TPM (Trusted Platform Module) and whether the company are pushing hard over the minimum threshold for which devices are eligible to be updated to the new version. While we've got a handy explainer for you that goes into TPM, hardware vendors can still offer new machines with Windows 11 that won't need this requirement, albeit with good reason to. Sonic Mania running on Windows11 Windows 11 features There are improvements across the board in Windows 11, with Microsoft promising that updates will be 40% smaller, and touting Windows 11 as "the most secure release yet". The taskbar is optimized for touch as well as mouse peripherals, and is now renamed the dock. New multitasking features are also on offer thanks to a feature called Snap Layouts, which enables you to arrange multiple windows across the screen, not just side by side, but in columns, sections and more. There's now a much-improved health check app found in Settings, where Windows 11 will recommend you to turn down the brightness for example, change the power saving mode of the battery and much more. Advertisement Windows 11 Health Check Another feature is Snap Groups, where you can go back to previously snapped windows from the dock, so for example you can go to your email app, Edge browser windows or anything else without having to snap them back to the previous view again. There's also improved multi-monitor support, so when you reconnect an external monitor, Windows 11 remembers the previous positions of the windows that were on that monitor. There's even an estimated installation time for Windows Update, so you can see whether you need to hold off from updating your PC until later in the day. Teams is also integrated to the dock, so you can easily join in with meetings and family calls. This looks like the first inkling of Skype disappearing from Windows, especially with the Skype sounds being heard in the demo when a call was incoming. Windows 11 The Microsoft Store is finally seeing a redesign, with better-curated content, and a better options for managing your purchased shows, such as mirroring them to your television. Apps such as Disney+, Adobe Creative Cloud, Pinterest and more are already in this redesigned store for Windows 11, ready to go. WPA, EWP and Win32 apps are now all in the Microsoft Store, ready to go. If a developer has a commerce engine, they can keep 100% of the revenue brought from the Microsoft Store. Android apps are also ready for Windows 11, discoverable from the Microsoft Store, via the Amazon App Store, so you can download TikTok and more, ready to use on your PC or tablet. Advertisement We suspect that the reason why Amazon are allowing their version of the store instead of Google, may be to do with the .APK filename being replaced from August. The new store opens up possibilities for other applications to arrive in Windows 11, even Apple's iMessage, which could follow iTunes and Safari. Windows 11 showing Edge extensions in the new Microsoft Store A new look for 11 One of the biggest changes users will notice is that the Start menu has been moved to the center of the screen – and it's now "cloud powered", so it dynamically changes depending on the time of day, and the content you're working with. Light Mode and Dark Mode are official, with rounded corners and a unified design across the operating system, with colorful wallpapers to choose from as well. There are also some windows that look Aero-esque from Windows Vista, showing you bite-sized information. Windows 11 Windows Widgets are back in Windows 11, accessible via the dock, with Microsoft touting AI-powered dynamic features that enable widgets, as with the Start menu, to change depending on the apps you're using and the time of day. On the touchscreen, you can slide from the left on the desktop to have widgets appear. There are plenty to choose from, such as the weather, Bing maps, news, and more. These will be available for third-parties as well, so you may see as many widgets available to pick as there are on Apple's iOS and iPadOS operating systems. Advertisement Windows 11 Gaming on Windows 11 Gaming will be a much bigger focus in Windows 11, with the sluggish and frustrating-to-use Windows 10 Xbox app replaced by a new Game Pass app that enables you to buy, manage and remove games, making it easier for you to access and download games, from Doom Eternal to – soon – Halo Infinite. HDR will also be supported on compatible machines, offering improved lighting and contrast for gaming and viewing media. Direct Storage is also here, with the main game assets able to be downloaded and installed, enabling you to play your games even faster than before. Windows 11 Touch improvements Tablet mode has been one of Windows' weaker points ever since Windows 8, and the new tablet features that Microsoft showed off for Windows 11 could be key to the operating system's fortunes, especially with future Surface products in the pipeline from Microsoft – to have a new, numbered operating system for its upcoming tablets could be a big selling point for new users. At the event, Microsoft touted bigger touch targets and easier ways to move windows around, and better rotate optimizations, for example in how windows are rearranged, so you don't lose track of the applications you were using. Advertisement Gestures used with the trackpad of the Surface models are also coming to the touchscreen, bringing in some familiarity here. Haptics is also coming to Windows 11 when you use a stylus for better feedback when drawing or sketching. The touch keyboard has also been redesigned, with a smaller keyboard just for your thumb, and emojis ready to be used. Microsoft says dictation will also be improved, alongside voice commands, with 'delete that' options and more.
  10. Master Chief is back to sporting a more classic look in Halo Infinite, and while the design of his armor is inspired by the Bungie era of Halo, all the nicks, dents, scratches, and scorch marks are brand new. As highlighted in the new 117th Canon Fodder blog post on Halo Waypoint honoring Spartan 117 himself, fans can now get an up-close, high-res look at the Master Chief's Halo Infinite armor--the Mjolnir Mk.VI[Gen3]. It's certainly changed a lot from this same time last year. Scuffed paint, plasma burns, and a layer of dust and dirt coat the Chief's new suit, seeming to imply that the character has seen plenty of fighting between the events of Halo 5: Guardians and Halo Infinite. Check it out below. No Caption Provided Those armor details weren't present in Halo Infinite's summer 2020 reveal. Master Chief's armor was nearly as pristine as could be in the game's first gameplay trailer, showing no wear and tear of any kind, and looked like it had come fresh off the assembly line. More recent Halo Infinite campaign footage does show the Chief's new battle-damaged look, seeming to confirm that developer 343 Industries has truly been busy improving the game's visuals after the lukewarm reception to the game's graphics during its July 2020 reveal contributed (along with a global pandemic) to Halo Infinite being delayed into 2021. A new look at Master Chief wasn't the only piece of Halo Infinite content revealed during Xbox's E3 2021 games showcase. 343 Industries also emphasized Halo Infinite's free-to-play multiplayer, offering fans a first look at multiplayer gameplay and character customization. A "flighting" beta test for the game is coming soon, but players interested in being the first to try out Halo Infinite's multiplayer will need to sign up for the Halo Insider program to be eligible to participate. The Halo Infinite beta is said to be "creeping closer and closer," so expect more details soon

  12. SK Hynix, a South Korean giant, has today announced that the company has officially started manufacturing its 1anm DRAM products using Extreme ultraviolet (EUV) lithography technology. The first product to be manufactured on this process is an 8 Gigabit (Gb) LPDDR4 mobile DRAM chip. Running at speeds of 4266Mbps, the fastest for LPDDR4 standard, this new chip achieves up to 20% less power consumption thanks to the new process. To show just how effective the 1anm process is, SK Hynix claims that EUV enables it to gain 25% more chips on the same size wafer, translating into 25% density improvement. The 1anm process is SK Hynix's fourth iteration of 10 nm technology used for DRAM manufacturing. Its predecessors included 1x, 1y, and 1z processes, all of which are based on the 10 nm node, just with some tweaking applied to newer generations. The new 1anm EUV process has shown stability in manufacturing, and the company plans to use it for all of its products going forward. The first DRAM product based on this process is the aforementioned 8Gb LPDDR4 chip, which is currently in mass production. It is expected to reach the market as a part of smartphones sometime in the second half of 2021. The 1anm DRAM technology will also apply to DDR5 products made by SK Hynix, starting early next year. SK Hynix also notes that the product is helping the company accomplish its goal to "reduce carbon dioxide emission as part of its commitment to the environmental, social and governance (ESG) management". Cho Youngmann, Vice President at SK hynix, has commented on that announcement that “With improved productivity and cost competitiveness, the latest 1anm DRAM will not only help secure high profitability, but also solidify SK hynix’s status as a leading technology company with early adoption of the EUV lithography technology for mass production.”
  13. After a long wait and numerous delays, Disney's Black Widow came out swinging over the weekend and landed a gigantic $80 million opening at 4,160 screens across the North American box office. This figure blew past early predictions and the record set by F9: The Fast Saga, and international numbers were also positive as Black Widow made $78 million across the rest of the world, according to Box Office Mojo. The big surprise here was the total earned through Premier Access rentals on Disney's streaming platform, as Black Widow added another $60 million to its weekend haul. Streaming figures are usually kept secret by Disney, with the company having not yet revealed any data yet for its other big releases from this year that shared a cinematic and Premier Access release, Cruella and Raya and the Last Dragon. Now Playing: Black Widow (2020) - Official Final Trailer Disney claims that the combined theatrical and Disney+ Premier Access opening makes it the only film to reach and surpass the $100 million mark since the coronavirus pandemic began, and has the third-highest weekend for an origin story film in its franchise after Black Panther and Captain Marvel. With early reviews also being mostly positive, that word of mouth with an audience hungry for a new Marvel tentpole release helped Black Widow earn big at the box office. Disney will likely look to keep this moment with its next big film release, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings on September 3. "Black Widow's strong performance this weekend affirms our flexible distribution strategy of making franchise films available in theaters for a true cinematic experience and, as COVID concerns continue globally, providing choice to consumers who prefer to watch at home on Disney+," Disney media and entertainment distribution chairman Kareem Daniel said in a statement. As for the rest of the domestic box office, not too much changed for every other film following in Black Widow's wake. F9 settled for second place, Forever Purge limped to a fourth start debut, and A Quiet Place Part II continued to do steady business. Domestic Box Office Weekend July 9-11 Black Widow - $80 million F9: The Fast Saga - $10.8 million Boss Baby: Family Business - $8.7 million Forever Purge - $6.7 million A Quiet Place Part II - $3 million Cruella - $2.2 million Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard - $1.6 million Peter Rabbit 2 - $1.25 million In the Heights - $630,000 Zola - $620,000
  14. AMD has confirmed to Tom's Hardware that 80 systems based on its mysterious 4700S Desktop Kit will come to market, with official sales of the first systems obviously already underway. The tale of AMD's 4700S Desktop Kit, which comes complete with a chip, motherboard, memory, and cooler, is a strange one. Almost all the details about AMD's mysterious kit for desktop PCs came via product listings and leaks before AMD even listed the chip on its site, and the company launched the 4700S without any of its normal communication with the press via briefings or press releases. Making things even more interesting, the system almost certainly uses a similar processor to the Sony PlayStation 5 (or a variant thereof with some swapped IP blocks), but with a disabled GPU. We followed up with AMD in regards to the 4700S Desktop Kit, and the chipmaker revealed that over 80 systems built around its 4700S kit will come to market: "We expect to see over 80 designs come to market from our SI [System Integrator] partners beginning on June 24th. Prices of these systems will be announced by our SI partners in due course." - AMD representative. 4700S PS5 The first systems based on the 4700S are already freely available on the open market, albeit only in certain areas of Asia. Therefore, pictures of the naked 4700S chip have surfaced. Given that the 7nm 4700S Desktop Kit's chip visually matches the PS5's 'Ariel' SoC, has eight Zen 2 cores with 16 threads, and uses GDDR6 (8GB or 16GB) instead of the DDR4 memory found in modern PCs, it is almost certainly a close match to the silicon found in the PS5, albeit with a disabled RDNA2 integrated graphics engine and possible alterations to CPU clock speeds. That's led to speculation that the 4700S is merely a defective PS5 SoC that AMD has repurposed. It could also be a close cousin to Ariel, but with adjustments to the various IP blocks, like memory controllers, interrupt handlers, system management controllers, and hardware-accelerated video encode/decode blocks. That would mean the 4700S is its own semi-custom design that leverages some, but not all, of the features found in AMD's other SoCs, like Ariel. It's actually quite the mystery, so we asked AMD if the 4700S is built with the same SoC used for the PS5: "AMD 4700S Desktop Kit is its own unique solution, designed to address the desire for robust, high-core count performance in the mainstream market – ideal for multi-tasking, productivity, and light 3D workflows." - AMD representative. AMD's response is actually non-committal, as it refers to the desktop kit and not the chip itself. We've asked for more details, but the company has been tight-lipped regarding the new systems and has conspicuously avoided using any Ryzen branding around the kit, so we aren't holding our breath for definitive answers. In either case, we've already seen these systems show up at retailers in the Asian market, often retailing between ~$320 to ~$700 (converted to USD), but the systems come with unique trimmings, like SSDs, GPUs, PSUs and cases, that ultimately impact pricing. AMD has confirmed that these systems, which are obviously not intended for leading-edge gaming machines, are coming to market, but it hasn't clarified if we'll see them at U.S. retailers anytime soon.
  15. wrote in a June blog post the changes were inspired by shifts in PC usage among consumers during the COVID-19 pandemic, as remote work surged. "This is what inspired us as we were building the next generation of Windows. To build you a place that feels familiar, where you can create, learn, play and most importantly, connect in all new ways," wrote Panay. Got questions about Windows 11? We've got answers. Here's everything you must know about Windows 11: The software will roll out starting in late 2021, according to Microsoft, and will continue throughout 2022. It's free to upgrade. Microsoft says computers and Surface devices pre-installed with Windows 11 will launch later this year. Most PCs running Windows 10 that are currently available should also support the Windows 11 upgrade so long as they run the appropriate specs. Microsoft had initially released a PC Health Check app to test whether your device could run Windows 11. However, Microsoft said "confusion" over how the tool was assessing a device's compatibility prompted the company to take it down. According to CNet, a new independent open source tool called WhyNotWin11 could help users figure out whether Windows 11 will work. Most notable is the interface itself looks sleeker compared to earlier versions of Windows. The software has bolstered its Snap layouts, which allow users to quickly snap an application to their screen, to support multiple configurations depending on what users desire. The operating system also simplifies the docking and redocking process to eliminate the need to reconfigure apps. Windows 11 will also support Android apps made available through the Amazon app store. Although it lacks the breadth of Google Play, the store still offers big names including TikTok. Other big features include a revamped Microsoft Store, more detailed Widgets, and different typing options including a one-handed option if you're on a Surface tablet. Windows 11 is also reportedly ditching the "blue screen of death," a Windows PC owner's nightmare. It will be black instead, according to The Verge. If you're on Windows 10 and want to go back after you upgrade, Microsoft says users will have a 10-day window "where you can move back to Windows 10 while keeping files and data that you brought along with you." Past that, users have to back up data and perform a "clean install," which means re-installing Windows 10 from scratch. No rush. Microsoft isn't pulling away from Windows 10 anytime soon. If you stick to Windows 10, Microsoft says it will continue supporting it through 2025.

  18. During a livestream, developer MiHoYo has revealed more details on the next substantial update for Genshin Impact, which will launch on July 21, 2021. Titled The Immovable God and the Eternal Euthymia, players will be able to explore the new region of Inazuma and travel across a landscape where the weather changes quickly and drastically. Cross-save support is also on the way as part of the update. The lightning-themed Inazuma area consists of six main islands and a series of islets, with locations such as the Grand Narukami Shrine and Sacred Sakura on the mountain of Narukami Island scattered across the area. It's worth noting that for now only three of the six main islands of Inazuma will be accessible, but MiHoYo added that the available content will have a wealth of stories and secrets to uncover. It's not all purple skies and sunshine though, as the islands are home to wandering samurais and even a new branch of the Fatui. New boss enemies will be added to the map for Travelers to challenge and obtain more rewards from them, while the Hypostasis family will see a new Pyro member joining. Having originally debuted in Genshin Impact Version 1.6, Maguu Kenki will also be found as a World Boss and a source for Character Level-Up Materials in Inazuma. New companions coming to the game include Inazuma natives Ayaka, Yoimiya, and Sayu. Ayaka is the daughter of the Yashiro Commission's Kamisato Clan who wields Cryo powers and a sword, Yoimiya is a five-star Pyro archer, and Sayu is a ninja who wields both a massive claymore and an Anemo Vision.
