Teams users will soon be able to open Office files in a browser or standalone apps Using Microsoft Teams to open and edit files such as Word documents or PowerPoint presentations could finally get a lot easier thanks to a new update. The video conferencing service has enjoyed a huge surge in po[CENSORED]rity during the pandemic, with many workers forced to stay at home and embrace remote working. But when it comes to playing nice with its Microsoft Office siblings, Teams often caused irritation by failing to open files from the likes of Word, Excel or PowerPoint properly, leaving users struggling to find or edit their work. These are the best online collaboration software picks around Here's our list of the best productivity software out there We've built a list of the best business webcams on the market Office files in Microsoft Teams Currently, opening Microsoft Office files such as a document, spreadsheet or presentation in Teams is done via the software's own built-in Office viewer or web version of Office. However a new update to Microsoft Teams will let users open Office files in their corresponding app, in a browser or the Teams desktop app. The feature, which allows users to select and set a default option for opening files in Teams, will initially be available for Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files, and should begin rolling out to users soon. Users will have the choice of three options; Teams - where the Office viewer will open the file automatically within Teams client, Desktop app - which opens the Office client on Windows or macOS, and Browser - where Teams will open documents in Office web, but users cannot make changes to the file. Microsoft says that opening files within the Microsoft Teams ’Office viewer will mean that changes to the original file are automatically saved, but these changes may not fully display if you then try and open the edited files in older Office desktop apps. The news comes shortly after a similar update that should greatly improve the usefulness of search within Microsoft Teams. Microsoft says the upgrade will introduce a completely redesigned search page that uses AI tools to track down exactly the results you need for your business or family work.

We first heard about Intel's Xe Graphics ages ago, and even got a preview of the Xe DG1 "Test Vehicle" at CES 2020. As time continues ticking by, what once might have looked like something with the potential to show up as a budget option on our list of the best graphics cards feels increasingly like a part with no real market. Intel looks to be using this as more of a proof of concept than a full-fledged release - a chance to work out the kinks, as it were, before the real deal DG2 launch sometime, presumably later this year or in early 2022. Technically , the DG1 is available, but it can only be purchased with select pre-built PCs. That's because it lacks certain features and requires special BIOS and firmware support from the motherboard to function. But if you could buy it, or if you think one of these pre-built systems might be worthwhile, how does it perform? That's what we set out to determine. Best Buy currently sells precisely one PC that has an Xe DG1 card. The system comes from CyberPowerPC with a passively cooled DG1 model from Asus, and it might be the only pre-built and DG1 model considering what you get. Besides the graphics card, the PC otherwise has reasonable-looking specs, including a Core i5-11400F, a 512GB M.2 SSD, 8GB DDR4-3000 memory, and even a keyboard and mouse. One problem, however, is the use of a single 8GB DIMM from XPG. Another concern is the limited storage space - 512GB is enough for typical SOHO use, perhaps, but it can only hold a few of the larger games in our test suite. We fixed both problems by upgrading the memory and adding a secondary storage device. The system costs $ 750, and given the specs, we'd normally be able to build our own similar system for around $ 575, not including the graphics card. Unfortunately, that means we have about $ 175 to work with on the GPU. If these were normal times, we'd be looking at GTX 1650 or even GTX 1650 Super cards for that price. Sadly, these are still not normal times, as seen in our GPU price index, which means you'd be lucky to find even a GTX 1050 for that price. And that's part of what makes the Xe DG1 potentially interesting: Can it compete with some of the modest AMD and Nvidia GPUs, like the RX 560 and GTX 1050? Spoiler: Not at all, at least not in gaming performance. We also encountered quite a few issues along the way, too. Intel Xe DG1 Specifications and Peculiarities The Xe DG1 straddles the line between dedicated graphics and integrated graphics. Take Intel's mobile Tiger Lake CPU, rip off the Xe Graphics, turn that into a standalone product, and you sort of end up with the DG1. Of course, Intel had to add dedicated VRAM for the card, since it no longer relies on shared system memory. As noted above, it also requires a special motherboard BIOS that supports Intel Iris Xe, which generally limits it to certain B560, B460, H410, B365, or H310C chipset-based motherboards. The reasons for the motherboard requirement are a bit convoluted. In short, Xe LP, the GPU at the heart of the DG1, was designed first as an integrated graphics solution for Tiger Lake. As such, the VBIOS and firmware get stored in the laptop's BIOS. The DG1 cards don't have an EEPROM to store the VBIOS, which necessitates putting that into the motherboard BIOS. Which of course raises the question of why Intel didn't just put an EEPROM on the DG1, since that should have been possible. Regardless, you can't buy a standalone DG1 card, and even if you buy a system with the card like we did, you can't put the card into a different PC and have it work. Here's the full rundown of the Xe DG1 specs, with the Nvidia GT 1030 and AMD Vega 8 (AMD's top integrated graphics) that we'll be using as our main points of comparison. So, there are two different GT 1030 models, and let's be clear that you don't want the DDR4 version. It's terrible, as we'll see shortly. The GDDR5 model has more than twice the memory bandwidth and shouldn't cost too much more, but some people might be thinking, "Yeah, we can save $ 20 and forego the GDDR5." They're wrong. Less than half the bandwidth makes a slow card even slower, and Intel can easily surpass at least that level of performance, though it will be a closer match between DG1 and the GT 1030 GDDR5. At the other end of the Nvidia spectrum, we'll also include a GTX 1050 to show what a faster card can do. That was nominally a $ 110 card at launch, though the current GPU shortages mean it now goes for around $ 175 on eBay (that's the average price of sold listings for the past couple of months). But that card has 2GB VRAM while the Intel DG1 has 4GB, so we also tossed in the GTX 1050 Ti (originally $ 139) and GTX 1650 ($ 149 MSRP) for comparison in our charts. Those have average eBay pricing of $ 208 and $ 295, respectively, even though the MSRPs are much lower - and neither one can effectively mine Ethereum these days. It might feel like we're maybe going too far, as those cards end up in an entirely different league of performance compared to Intel's DG1, but that was the market when the DG1 was in development. We don't just want to look at Nvidia and Intel, though, so we've also got AMD's Vega 8 integrated GPU via two different processors as another comparison point. One comes thanks to the Asus MiniPC with a 15W TDP AMD Ryzen 7 4800U, to which we've also added 2x16GB HyperX DDR4-3200 memory and a Kingston KC2500 2TB SSD. The other Vega 8 comes via the desktop Ryzen 7 5700G with a much higher 65W TDP, and we've also equipped that system with 32GB of DDR4-3200 memory (CL14, though). The 5700G uses a Zen 3 CPU with eight cores and 16 threads while the mobile chip is a Zen 2 architecture, still with eight cores and 16 threads. We've also included an RX 560 4GB card, which has as much VRAM as the DG1 and GTX 1050 Ti. In the current market where even slow GPUs are sold at premium prices - the GT 1030 is supposed to be a $ 70 card, but currently sells for $ 110– $ 200 - the DG1's price to performance ratio could be its main selling point. Actually, Intel put some effort into the video encoding and decoding capabilities of the DG1 and seems to be pitching that as another potential use case, but we're mostly interested in the graphics performance right now. On a related note, the DG1 felt quite laggy at 4K just running the Windows desktop at times (when resizing windows, for example), which isn't perhaps the primary intended use, but the 4K decoding and encoding prowess might be overshadowed by other factors.

Former Dead Space executive producer & co-creator Glen Schofield has seemingly given his blessing to EA Motive’s just-announced upcoming remake. Glen Schofield is eager to see what EA Motive does with the famed sci-fi horror game. Before he co-founded Sledgehammer Games and became known as a Call of Duty guy, Glen Schofield spent his days at EA Redwood Shores, later known as Visceral Games, where he headed up development on the groundbreaking horror game Dead Space. He wasn't involved in the development of either of the sequels, but following the announcement of the Dead Space remake at yesterday's EA Play, he said on Twitter that the series is still important to him, and he's looking forward to what comes next. "Directing the original Dead Space was one of the highlights of my career," Schofield tweeted. "Excited to see what the EA MotiveStudio team does with it!" Motive, the studio working on the project, replied in kind, crediting Schofield (and, one must assume, Redwood Shores) for paving the way. The Callisto Protocol, in case you missed it, is a survival horror game in development at Schofield's Striking Distance Studios that looks a lot like Dead Space. It's even got neck-worn neon monitor-type things, although horizontal instead of vertical. It's also set in the PUBG universe for some reason. Details haven't been revealed yet but Schofield said he wants it to be "the most terrifying game of all time." In a tweet following the announcement, the former Visceral Studios head said: “Directing the original Dead Space was one of the highlights of my career. Excited to see what the EA (Motive) team does with it! " In a lovely show of gratitude, the EA Motive account responded “You paved the way for us, Glen. Looking forward to the Callisto Protocol as well. " The Dead Space remake will see the 2008 horror rebuilt “from the ground up” in EA’s Frostbite engine. An improved story, characters and gameplay ”are on the cards, and it's set to release in 2022 exclusively for the newer consoles Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 as well as the PC. Schofield meanwhile is heading up The Callisto Protocol, a similarly sci-fi horror themed game at Striking Distance Studios. That game will also launch on PC and consoles in 2022.

"CARDRIVER" The Volkswagen Atlas Cross Sport ditches the third row of seats found in the standard Atlas in favor of a more rakish, coupe-like roofline. However, it uses the same 235-hp four-cylinder and optional 276-hp V-6, so the coupe-ified Atlas isn't much more athletic than the three-row model. That changes with the new Atlas Cross Sport GT concept, unveiled today by Volkswagen. Inspired by the launch of the Golf R, the GT concept receives a host of upgrades to create a crossover "that could appeal to our performance enthusiast base," as explained by VW Group of America CEO Scott Keogh. The concept is the handiwork of Jamie Orr, a VW enthusiast and brand ambassador, who took a 2021 Atlas Cross Sport SEL Premium R-Line off the assembly line and infused it with some of the performance goodies from the Golf R. Most notably, this meant an engine swap — the GT concept features a version of the EA888 turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four found in the Golf R. VW says the engine makes over 300 horsepower, routed through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission instead of the standard eight-speed auto. The GT concept is equipped with all-wheel drive, and while VW didn't provide performance figures, it's safe to assume the extra power allows for a quicker 60-mph sprint than the 7.5 seconds posted by the normal V-6 model. The Cross Sport GT was hand painted at the Chattanooga factory in Eisvogelblau, or Kingfisher Blue, which is also available on certain European VW products. Orr gave the GT concept a sportier stance by installing 22-inch ABT Sport HR Aerowheels with blue accents shod in Yokohama Advan Sport V105 285 / 35R-22 rubber. The suspension is lowered as well, featuring custom ST Suspension XTA Plus 3 coil-overs with blue, GT Concept – branded springs. The front brakes have been upgraded to Tarox eight-piston calipers. Along with the stunning blue paint job, the exterior features unique GT badging and gloss-black trim pieces in place of chrome. Eisvogelblau is also found throughout the interior, adorning the special Recaro Sportster CS seats, custom gearshift, steering wheel, door panels, floor mats, and seatbelts. The rear bench has been removed, with two Recaros taking its place to make this a four-passenger car, and the GT gains a center console in the second row which mimics the design of the one found up front. VW points out that none of the modified interior pieces use animal-based materials. Although the Cross Sport GT concept seems more like a project cooked up by VW employees in their spare time, it shows that the company is exploring how to make its SUV lineup attractive to the enthusiasts who snap up GTIs and Golf Rs. Maybe with strong enough feedback, VW might consider building a sportier Atlas R, since it already sells R models of the T-Roc, Tiguan, and Touareg crossovers for the Europe market.

"BBC" Four weeks after the collapse of Champlain Towers South in the town of Surfside, north of Miami Beach, which left at least 97 dead, the controversy continues over what to do with the land on which the building stood. A few days ago, a judge approved the sale of the land where the 12-story building was located, which collapsed at dawn on June 24 for causes that are still being investigated. Miami-Dade Judge Michael Hanzman made the controversial decision with the aim of financially compensating the victims of the collapse, both those who survived and the families of those who lost their lives. It is estimated that the land could be sold for more than US $ 100 million to a developer interested in building a new building. Local media assured that some companies have already shown their interest in the site. To those US $ 100 million would have to be added some US $ 50 million that will be paid by insurers, so that those affected by the collapse - many of whom have lost everything - would distribute at least US $ 150 million. "The concern of the court has always been the victims present here," the judge said at a hearing on Wednesday, adding that the group of those who will be compensated includes visitors and tenants, and not just landlords. "Your rights will be protected." The $ 150 million does not include any damages that can be obtained from the numerous lawsuits that have already been filed after the collapse. Controversial decision The decision to authorize the sale of the land for the construction of a new building has not pleased some of the relatives of the deceased, who consider that it is too early to deal with this matter and believe that a memorial should be erected at the site of the collapse. remember the victims. Soriya Cohen, who lost her husband Brad in the collapse, said in an interview with local television that she did not understand the judge's decision. "I can't even imagine such desecration. Imagine if that was your spouse, your parents, or your grandparents and they relied on it to make money." Cohen said the site should be treated like a cemetery and building on it would be disrespectful to the dead. In an editorial published a few days ago, the Miami Herald newspaper also assured that a new building should not be built without including a memorial for the victims. "While we agree with the judge's intention to compensate families as generously as possible, these families' dissatisfaction with the decision is a reminder that emotions are so stark, that even well-intentioned decisions will not please everyone at large. every step of the long, long road that this case must travel, "read the editorial. Attorney Renier Díaz de la Portilla, who represents Martin Lagesfeld, who lost his sister Nicole and brother-in-law Luis Sadovnic in the collapse, told the Miami Herald: "This is not about money; there are religious reasons why families want the land to be preserved as a monument. These victims need a proper memorial and burial. " In any case, in a hearing on Wednesday, several of the owners who survived the collapse told the judge that they want the land to be sold in order to recover some of what they have lost. Meanwhile, a few days ago, the mayor of Surfside assured that the memorial for the victims could be built in a nearby park. This Wednesday local media published some images in which it is seen that the lot where Champlain Towers South was built is now practically clean and clear. Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava said in a statement that the site of the building collapse "has been cleared for the most part" and the debris was moved to an area near the airport, as recovery teams "continue. seeking with enormous care and diligence "to recover any possible victim.

Chrome Canary users get the first bash at Lens Region Search Google Lens is a great way to search the web from your mobile. Rather than using keywords to home in on what you're looking for, a quick photo snapped on your camera is all it takes to search for a pair of shoes, or to quickly identify an unknown plant in your garden. But the tool is even more versatile than that. It can also be used to translate signs and other text in foreign languages, solve mathematical formulae, or just copy large sections of a printed text to save having to type it by hand. Now Google is bringing a Lens-powered options to Chrome on the desktop, turbocharging searches with completely new options. The new feature lets you harness the power of Google Lens and use it to search the web for a section of a website. It can be used to search for images, text, and more, as we will come to shortly. But there is something to get out of the way first. There are a couple of hoops you need to jump through before you can take advantage of the new search features Google has added to Chrome. First of all, you need to make use you are running the latest Canary build of Chrome. Secondly, you will need to tweak a setting as the feature is not enabled by default: Launch Chrome Canary and visit chrome: // flags Search for Enable Lens Region Search Use the drop-down menu to select Enabled Restart Chrome Life through a lens With this done, you can access the new search tool by simply right clicking on a pages. In the context menu, you should see a new Search Part of the page with Google Lens option. This is your entry point to searching. The next thing you will need to do is to draw a box around the portion of the current pages that you would like to use as the basis for a search - just like using the selection tool in an image editor. You can draw around an image on the page to find other instances - or similar images - elsewhere online, or you can select text to save having to type. Experiment and see what works for you. Analysis: Deja Vu? If this idea sounds familiar, it might be because it is not a million miles remove from the "Search with Screenshot" option that can be found in Microsoft Edge. Which you prefer is really a matter of taste, and the differences between the two are not really great enough to convince any Edge users to switch to Chrome or vice versa. At the moment, Google's implementation seems a little unstable, but this is not entirely surprising as we're looking at the unreleased Canary build of Chrome. It's hard to imagine that Google won't improve things dramatically before the wider rollout later in the year. With Lens proving to be a po[CENSORED]r and powerful option for mobile users, it's great to see that Google is giving desktop users a look in, providing access to very similar tools without the need for a camera.

Seagate is working on multiple consumer hard drives featuring a 20TB capacity that will use perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) and shingled magnetic recording (SMR) technologies, which are more cost effective than Seagate's current, business-focused HAMR technology. The company's 20TB SMR HDDs will be available in the second half of this calendar year, in the coming months. 20TB HDDs Incoming "We expect to begin shipping 20TB PMR drives in the second half of this calendar year," said Dave Mosley, CEO of Seagate, during the company's earnings call with analysts and investors Seagate currently ships 20TB hard drives that use its heat-assisted magnetic recording (HAMR) technology to select partners and inside its Lyve storage systems. Yet these drives are not intended as mass market products. Instead, the company is prepping to release PMR-based 20TB HDDs (with two dimensional magnetic recording [TDMR] enhancement) for typical customers requiring high capacities and is also working on SMR-based 20TB drives for hyperscalers with software that can take into account shingled magnetic recording technology. Seagate is apparently already qualifying its 20TB drives with various customers, so expect the company to introduce a range of 20TB HDDs aimed at different applications. "We have a number of different 20TB platforms coming: PMR, SMR, HAMR," said Mosley. "There are a lot of different flavors of them, and they are targeted to different customers so different qualification schedules for each. We are very aggressive with the 20TB qualification" HAMR drives requires new media and new write heads. These heads of media have been mass produced for about a year, so their quality and costs are predictable. Meanwhile, media and the TDMR read heads that Seagate has been using for its 14TB, 16TB, and 18TB HDDs have been in mass production for years, so they are still cheaper than components used for HAMR drives. To that end, it makes more sense for Seagate to offer traditional PMR (with TDMR) and SMR drives at a 20TB capacity point. Earlier this year Seagate said that its HAMR technology would enable it to quickly introduce hard drives with capacities like 22TB or 24TB if it needs to, but the company did not outline exact timeframes for when such drives are set to be available. As it turns out, there are plenty of customers that would rather use 20TB HDDs featuring PMR + TDMR or SMR technology. Chia Drives Demand for HDDs, Only Not for New HDDs The head of Seagate confirmed that Chia cryptocurrency farming has indeed increased demand for hard drives in calendar Q2 2020, but he implied that most of the drives used by Chia network (31.8PB at press time) were bought on the secondhand market. Mosley said that Chia generated some 4% ~ 7% of exabytes demand in the company's Q4 FY2021, so it does not make much sense to significantly boost production of hard drives, invest in additional manufacturing capacity, or rush high-capacity HDDs (eg, 20TB models) to the market to meet this demand. "During the June quarter, we saw a meaningful increase in HDD demand due in part to the initial build-out of the Chia net space, which is comprised of both new and repurposed HDDs," said Mosley. "By our estimation, new Chia demand represented at most a mid-single digit percentage of total industry exabyte shipments during the quarter, primarily into the distribution channel." While Seagate remains optimistic about Chia and opportunities this cryptocurrency presents for HDDs, it is noteworthy that the space allocated to Chia network almost did not grow this month (to a large degree because people are replotting their existing plots): it increased from 29.2PB in early July to only 31.8PB on July 22.

https://www.motortrend.com/news/marc-phillip-gembala-marsien-porsche-911-turbo-project Designed for the desert, only 40 of these are being made by Marc Philipp Gemballa. Marc Philipp Gemballa, the son of late Uwe Gemballa, has founded a new Porsche tuning company and is launching his first creation, a modified off-road supercar. Inspired by the Porsche 959 from the 1980s Paris-Dakar rallies and based on the 992-generation 911 Turbo S, it's called the "Marsien" and it will be limited to 40 units. Described as a hybrid combining modern sports car performance with everyday utility and off-road capabilities, the Marsien has a futuristic design and features cutting-edge tech. The 27-year-old Gemballa spent two years developing the car, which he first named Project Sandbox, aiming for a vehicle capable of hitting dirt roads and devouring epic dunes. The young entrepreneur enlisted designer and Porsche hobbyist Alan Derosier to carry out the design. The muscular-looking body is made entirely from carbon fiber. Notable components include the massive integrated rear wing, large vents, and bespoke titanium exhaust system. German enterprise RUF tuned the twin-turbo flat-six, which generates 740 hp and 685 lb-ft of torque. For those who find that a 740-horsepower desert runner needs more power, a second stage upgrade by RUF increases output to 818 ponies. In terms of performance, the company says the 911 Turbo-based Marsien can make a run from 0 to 62 mph in as little as 2.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph when equipped with road tires. The lightweight and well-engineered desert supercar has an updated suspension by KW automotive, including a newly developed double-wishbone front suspension, an active damper control, and a hydraulic lift system. With the press of a button, drivers can adjust the ride height from the standard 4.7 inches to 9.8 inches for handling more challenging terrain. Each model will come with two sets of forged aluminum wheels sporting Michelin tires, a high-performance set for road use, and another with all-terrain rubber for off-roading mayhem. And for those daredevils seeking the ultimate off-road experience at the sacrifice of road usability, there is an optional rally-spec package. This option enhances suspension travel and increases ground clearance to a fixed ride height. The standard exterior paint for the launch edition model is pearl white with metallic flakes and an additional protection layer via ceramic coating. On request, buyers can specify the paint color or go for a fully exposed carbon fiber body. Take a peek inside, and you won't be disappointed. The Carrera GT-inspired interior features a custom lifted center console and specially designed bucket seats with carbon fiber trim. Customers get to choose between full leather or Alcantara upholstery and can also opt for full customization. Other interior details that stick out are the carbon fiber door sills with bright yellow entry guards and GT-style door lashes. The company will only produce 40 examples of the Marsien, including 10 exclusive launch edition models. Marc Philipp Gemballa claims that more than half of the small series production has already sold out. When converted to USD, each build starts at approximately $ 583,000, excluding the (not cheap) 911 Turbo S donor car. At this price range, you better be driving something special, and by the looks of it, the Marsien promises just that.

https://www.bbc.com/mundo/noticias-america-latina-53078808 This week the case about the 31 tons of Venezuelan gold bars guarded by the Bank of England reaches the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, which will have to decide who is the legitimate authority that can administer them. In this June 2020 report we give you all the context about the dispute. 31 tons of gold are at the center of a legal dispute between the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) and the Bank of England. The gold bars, valued at US $ 1 billion, are in the vaults of the English institution and belong to Venezuela, which now wants to sell them and use the funds to combat the spread of the coronavirus in the country, according to the government of Nicolás Maduro. However, the Bank of England has rejected the Venezuelan request. The reason? The current BCV directive responds to the Maduro government and the British institution has expressed doubts about the authority of that directive, arguing that the United Kingdom recognizes that of the opposition leader Juan Guaidó as a legitimate government. The dispute began in early 2019, when more than 50 countries recognized Guaidó as the legitimate president. Sarosh Zaiwalla, the lawyer representing the BCV in London, confirmed to BBC Mundo that when at that time the president of the Venezuelan institution, Calixto Ortega, and the then Minister of Finance, Simón Zerpa, traveled to the British capital to request the return of the gold, the Bank of England told them: "No, our government (United Kingdom) recognizes Guaidó (as the legitimate president of Venezuela) and that is why we cannot give you the gold." Now, a court in London will have to decide, as of June 22, who is the legitimate authority to move the gold from the Bank of England, after the Maduro government unsuccessfully requested to sell part of that gold and transfer the resources to the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to purchase food and medicine and combat the coronavirus in the country. "That gold belongs to the entire Venezuelan people, it belongs to the country, and the BCV has demanded that these resources be used through the UNDP to address the pandemic in Venezuela," said the vice president of the Maduro government, Delcy Rodríguez. "Every minute and hour that passes means people who may lose their lives to the virus, and Venezuela requires its resources, not a clique of white-collar criminal thieves stealing it," he added. But why does Venezuela have those gold reserves in England? Conventional strategy For decades, Venezuela has stored gold that is part of its Central Bank reserves in foreign banks, both in Europe and the United States, a strategy followed by many other nations. "There is nothing strange about a country holding reserves of gold or other securities in other banks," Luis Vicente León, a Venezuelan economist and president of the consulting firm Datanálisis, explains to BBC Mundo. "There is gold in what are called safeguard service providers, which are different banks, including some central ones, that provide the service and charge a commission for safeguarding international reserves." For the economist this is simply a strategy to protect and safeguard gold reserves. "I would say that it is a very conventional strategy for small countries. Large countries have the capacity to be able to protect their own reserves, to keep them in their vaults." "It is a headache for central banks, especially when they do not have the capacity for protection, security measures and technology to prevent a robbery operation from being carried out. When instead you place your gold in a foreign bank in You have a receipt in an accounting, and if something happens to it, you are protected because you pay the custody service, "explains the economist. In 2011, President Hugo Chávez repatriated about 160 tons of gold from US and European Union banks to the Central Bank in Caracas, citing his country's need for physical control of assets. "Venezuela returned gold to the Central Bank from different countries because it was a time when the government feared that international sanctions would be applied that could freeze its reserves abroad," explains León. "He felt that keeping reserves abroad was a dangerous strategy and that part of his resources could be frozen," he added. According to what the economist and opposition deputy José Guerra told BBC Mundo, "about 90% of the gold that Venezuela had abroad was brought in and placed in the vaults of the BCV." According to Guerra, most of the Venezuelan gold reserves are in Caracas. However, the gold that Venezuela had in the Bank of England, and that today is the subject of the dispute, remained in the vaults of the British institution.

Project Moca rolling into Outlook soon Microsoft is looking to take the fight to Google Workspace with the launch of a new online collaboration tool within Outlook. Project Moca is a new project management platform built directly within its email service that the company hopes will make workplace collaboration more straightforward as workers begin to head back to the office following the pandemic. First revealed last year, Project Moca combines a user's calendar, files, contacts and more into a single board view for more straightforward planning and teamwork. Here are the best video conferencing services around These are the best productivity tools on the market Also check out our roundup of the best free office software. Project Moca Following a successful trial and beta period, Microsoft has now confirmed that Project Moca will be rolling out to users in July 2021 as part of the new board view on Outlook. "Think of the board as a visual planner that you can design however you like by adding and moving around items in it," Microsoft wrote in a blog post announcing the news. In order to access their work, users simply need to go to their Outlook calendar, and select the dropdown views menu. This will bring up the option of "Board", where they can select a new board and create from there. New users will be able to enjoy the new Outlook Calendar board view straight away, adding calendar markers, tasks, sticky notes, links, goals and reminders. Anyone who was part of the Project Moca with all content migrated over from the Project Moca trial system, meaning users won't lose any data or work they have already completed. The release will be eyed with interest by Google, which has greatly expanded its Workspace productivity suite to accommodate workers returning to the office. The company recently released Google Workspace Individual, which looks to target small business owners or other users looking to promote a “passion project” with a specially designed collection of its most useful business software tools. This includes shareable booking pages integrated directly with Google Calendar, letting anyone schedule an appointment with you quickly and easily. Customers can also pick from several different types of appointments, including consultations or site visits.

Stolen documents cost former Intel employee tens of thousands of dollars. An Intel engineer who left the company early last year and took thousands of confidential documents to Microsoft with him has admitted the wrongdoing and agreed to settle with the CPU giant. Varun Gupta, who worked for Intel's data center group for about 10 years, left the company to join Microsoft as a "Principal for Strategic Planning in Cloud and AI" early last year. But before leaving the chipmaker, the engineer took 3,900 confidential and secret documents on USB drives about Intel Xeon processors, their pricing, and strategies. Later on, I accessed them from a Microsoft-issued laptop. Intel said that this information gave Microsoft an unfair advantage in negotiations about specifications and pricing of Xeon that the software giant buys from Intel. The CPU producer demanded its former engineer $ 75,000 as payment for potential damages earlier this year. By now, Varun Gupta has admitted the wrongdoing and agreed to pay an undisclosed sum to Intel, reports OregonLive. Intel and its former engineer will pay for their attorneys themselves. If he violates the terms of the settlement deal, he will have to pay at least $ 100,000 more to his former employee. Secret and confidential documents usually contain information worth considerably more than the $ 75,000 that Intel demanded from Varun Gupta. Perhaps the former Intel engineer and Microsoft could not use the information properly or simply did not have time to make any significant gains. Microsoft did not comment on the story, but according to Oregon Live, it did cooperate with the investigators. An Intel engineer who left the company for Microsoft last year has admitted to having confidential Intel documents with him and has agreed to deal with a chipmaker. Oregon engineer Varun Gupta spent ten years working for Intel, most recently in the data center group To this day, Intel has created an interesting sales method that maintains it as the greats in the industry and makes it trained in the sale of hardware and that is why it is influential in the creation of processors. Hundreds of hours and I had no idea. Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone has shared a handy tip to get through the early-game community center slog. If you're anything like me, you have a small country worth of farms across different save files. Experimenting with different farm layouts, playstyles, spouses and challenges gives the game a pretty decent level of replayability. It also means the first few hours of each save can become a bit of a chore, especially when it comes to donating items to the community center. Well, Barone has shared a nifty way to quickly know if an item in your bag is one that's needed for the community center. In a tweet, he revealed that the community center icon in your inventory will gently pulse if you're hovering over an item that needs to be donated. Apparently, it's been in the game since at least the 1.4 update, but it's such a subtle effect that it's taken a fair few people by surprise. I know many of you will probably be looking at your screen right now thinking "how the hell did nobody know this?" but it's a tip that even I somehow missed, despite sinking hundreds of hours into the game. The community center plays an important part in the early hours of your Stardew Valley playthrough. Completing different rooms helps restore a bunch of areas across the map, including the incredibly handy greenhouse. he mod has additional options, including changing the maximum amount of fish on the map, and the density of fish per water tile. A 200% density is two fish per tile, which would make a lot of casserole. It would also let players fill out those junimo bundles a lot faster, if they so choose — at least the fishy ones, I don't know if you're going to get through your seasonal veggies any faster. Let's be honest though: there's probably a mod for that, too. It's usually the main priority for your first year on the farm, but if your memory is as shoddy as mine you'll still end up forgetting what needs to be donated, even after completing the center dozens of times. Last year's 1.5 update also introduced the option to "remix" the community center bundles, randomizing which items you need to find. That makes the subtle effect even more useful, and one I'll definitely be using in future playthroughs. It's not the first time small features have flown straight under the nose of Stardew Valley players, like excitable redditors discovering months later that their ducks could actually swim in a pond.

We've seen — and heard — the upcoming C8 Corvette Z06 testing numerous times, and we're obsessed with its naturally aspirated flat-plane-crank shriek. Chevy will finally unveil the first of the coming high-performance Vettes this fall, and now the company has shared the first official clip of the Z06's engine revving and accelerating on the street and track. This content is imported from Instagram. You may be able to find the same content in another format, or you may be able to find more information, at their web site. The new Corvette Z06 will be powered by a naturally aspirated 5.5-liter V-8 engine, and it has a flat-plane crankshaft like a Ferrari V-8. A detuned version of this engine is found in the C8.R race car. In the Z06, it should rev to between 8500 and 9000 rpm, produce more than 600 horsepower, and pair with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. A flat-plane crank results in a smoother and higher-pitched sound than a cross-plane V-8, which the C8 Corvette Stingray uses. Pictured above is what we think the new Z06 will look like. It will have a wider track and more aggressive aerodynamics, including a larger rear wing. We've seen prototypes testing with and without the wing as well as ones with either a center-exit quad-tip exhaust system or two exhaust tips on either corner. Look for more information on the new Corvette Z06 in the coming months. The new car should arrive by the end of next year, priced starting at about $ 85,000.

https://www.bbc.com/mundo/noticias-america-latina-57888579 This July 28 is the immovable date of the change of command in Peru, and Francisco Sagasti, the fourth president in five years of political turmoil, still has no successor. At least not if we stick to formality. According to the count of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), Pedro Castillo, the candidate of a party that defines itself as Marxist and Leninist, won the second round of elections on June 6 by a little more than 44 thousand votes difference against Keiko. Fujimori, the daughter of former President Alberto Fujimori. The distance between the two is barely 0.23 percent of the total votes. And although a dozen international observation missions concluded that the voting day was fair and democratic, Fujimori denounced fraud and accused the government of covering it up. While his political party, Fuerza Po[CENSORED]r, presents successive legal appeals that must be resolved before the new Head of State can be officially proclaimed, groups of his sympathizers, which have been joined by far-right movements, are calling for protests and camping abroad. of Congress under posters of "No to Communism" and "Terrorism never again." They recently threw stones at the car of the Minister of Health when he arrived at the Government Palace. President Francisco Sagasti, during his last week in office, perhaps as complex as the first, received BBC News Mundo. This is the dialogue.

Nvidia announced a new major update to the capabilities of DLSS and RTX: support for both ARM and Linux. This development was showcased at this week's Games Developer Conference (GDC), where both Wolfenstein: Youngblood and The Bistro's demo from the Open Research Content Archive ran on a system comprised of a Mediatek Kompanio ARM SoC (8 CPU core, 6 nm) paired with an RTX 3060 graphics card. In addition, the showcased system ran both demos with full support for five key RTX technologies: Global Illumination, Direct Illumination, RTX Memory Utility, DLSS and Nvidia's Optix AI-Acceleration Denoiser. This marks an important move by NVIDIA in expanding system capability for their proprietary RTX and DLSS technologies and represents early work from the company in strengthening its relationship with Arm - even as its acquisition of Arm is still underway and pending further regulatory approval. Nvidia's aspirations for the merger and its results are nothing but lofty. As the company puts it, "The performance and energy efficiency of Arm CPUs with Nvidia technologies can open an entirely new class of PCs." At the same time that Arm continues its assault on the entrenched x86 architecture, Nvidia is looking to carve itself an ecosystem that truly is prepared to confront Intel and AMD on their x86 home turf: gaming. The demos further illustrate Nvidia's RTX and DLSS compatibility with both Linux and Arm and the strength of the SDK itself, considering how two completely different render engines were used. Of course, this is but one of the steps for the green team's aspirations. Nvidia is looking to eventually sell gaming systems that are Arm and Nvidia-powered, whether via in-SoC GeForce graphics or paired with a discrete graphics card. And in the meantime, the Linux gaming ecosystem just won an important battle for relevance in today's x86-dominated market.
