  3. Game Information's: Developer & Publisher: Osmotic Studios & Fellow Traveller Platforms: macos, microsoft windows, linux Genre: Adventure, Indie, Simulation Release Date: 27 Oct, 2016 System Requirements: NOTE: The game under a promotion, check more about it Here. The government is spying on its citizens. Don't worry, I'm not about to launch into a rant about the Investigatory Powers Act. Rather, this is the set up to Orwell, a five-part episodic adventure about the tension between privacy and national security. Set in The Nation, Orwell is a visual novel in which you voyeuristically watch over a group of activists—trying to determine who is responsible for a series of bombings. The titular Orwell is a program for surveilling The Nation's citizens. You play as an investigator, and your job is to analyse the digital footprint of any citizens that The Party has marked as a potential threat. At first you're scouring public and state records—newspapers, websites and police databases. But soon, the intrusion goes deeper. You read emails and chat logs, listen to phone calls, and, in extreme cases, dig through your target's computer. As you read through the information, the Orwell system will highlight relevant passages of text as data chunks. The system itself is incredibly literal, and unable to distinguishes nuances of language. It can't, for instance, tell that, by listing their current location as 'The Internet', your target is making a funny joke. In fact, if Orwell was analysing that last sentence, it would offer a data chunk saying I thought putting 'The Internet' as your location is a funny joke. It doesn't do sarcasm. That's why you're there. An investigator's role is to separate fact from fiction. You're literally the brains of the operation, and a big part of the challenge is knowing what to upload. Sometimes that's easy—plenty of data chunks are either quirks of language, or obviously tangential. Others are clearly important. The tricky part is when you have conflicting information. There can only be one truth, but which one is it? And therein lies the drama. Is your target a naive activist or dangerous terrorist? Were they once unfairly arrested for a crime they didn't commit, or did their corporate parents pay to have the charges dropped? That's up to you. Orwell's subversive twist is that draconian surveillance is often seen as dispassionate and unthinking. But here, I find myself earnestly trying to discern the truth. I wanted to do a good job. It's not that the invasion of privacy is portrayed as benign, but it's flawed in a different way to how you might expect. A quirk of the system is the relationship between investigator and analyst. At first Symes, your analyst, acts as a tutorial – guiding you through how to use the program. But soon, he's reliant on you. It's an asymmetrical relationship. Symes doesn't have access to the information you're reading. And while he can talk to you, you can only respond via the data you upload. His job is to act on that data. The obvious limitation is that you can't make recommendations. Your ability to control and shape the situation comes from the data you do or, often more crucially, don't upload. Orwell teaches this lesson early on, when a target jokes about stealing her boyfriend's credit card. Upload that data chunk and Symes, who can't see the playful dynamic of the relationship, has the card cancelled. In later episodes, the stakes are more dramatic. There are some major decisions that can have a profound effect on the story—albeit, as is often the case with episodic storytelling, the story follows the same major beats no matter your choices. But doing what seems like the noble thing doesn't always lead to the best outcome. It's complicated and messy, which feels right. At times, it feels a bit limited. Often, the drama hangs on you deciding between two conflicting pieces of information—a gut instinct guess, with no way to further your understanding of the situation. That's part of the game's message—a commentary on online surveillance in a world where public personas are so carefully curated. But it's not always satisfying. You're an investigator, but you don't do much actual investigation. Mostly, you're unlocking and cataloguing a procession of story beats. It's also confusingly inconsistent. Occasionally, Symes will comment on things Orwell's own rules dictate he has no way of seeing—enough that I started to wonder if it was a plot point leading to some future reveal. But it's never mentioned, and so I'm inclined to think it's simply a mistake. Despite these problems, Orwell is a success. It lets you watch over a spiralling conspiratorial thriller, and throws in enough twists and surprises to keep things interesting. It's an enjoyable way to interact with a world—the voyeurism creating a distinct, enjoyable power dynamic that I refuse to self-reflect on any further. It's not at all subtle—it's called Orwell, after all—but it's a well told mystery framed by a captivating storytelling device. Game Trailer:

  5. Just as The Raspberry Pi Foundation has been busy crafting the Raspberry Pi 4 (8GB) model announced today, another single-board computer maker, Axiomtek, is also at it again with another new single-board computer (SBC). Following Axiomtek's unveiling of the CAPA13R just over a week ago, it's now unwrapped the MIRU130, which targets artificial intelligence applications with the help of an embedded AMD Ryzen APU. Announced Friday, the MIRU130 targets machine vision and deep learning. Axiomtek said it "was designed to help developers to deploy vision-based AI applications faster and easier." Like the CAPA13R , the new MIRU130 comes with either an embedded AMD Ryzen V1807B or V1605B APU. That means the SBC takes advantage of AMD Radeon Vega graphics "with support from DirectX 12," Axiomtek's announcement noted. The Ryzen V1807B offers AMD Radeon Vega 11 graphics, and the Ryzen V1605B brings Radeon Vega 8 graphics onboard. If integrated graphics aren't enough for you, the MIRU130 can even support discrete graphics cards via a PCIe x16 golden finger with a PCIe x8 signal. Additionally, the MIRU130 cam support up to two displays at a time, thanks to having a DisplayPort and HDMI port. The MIRU130's form factor is in between Mini-ITX and Micro-ATX with measurements of 9.6 x 6.7 inches (244mm x 170mm). Axiomtek's MIRU130 also supports up to 16GB of RAM with room for two DDR4 SO-SIMM modules. It has a vision-specific I/O that uses 2-CH trigger input, camera trigger output and LED lighting controllers designed for conveyor tracking. If you want to explore the new specs in-depth, check out the official datasheet [PDF]. The product is listed on the Axiomtek store with its own product page, but no information has been released publicly about price.
  6. Scientists at the University of Oxford have developed new artificial intelligence software to recognise and track the faces of individual chimpanzees in the wild. The new software will allow researchers and wildlife conservationists to significantly cut back on time and resources spent analysing video footage, according to the new paper published today in Science Advances. 'For species like chimpanzees, which have complex social lives and live for many years, getting snapshots of their behaviour from short-term field research can only tell us so much,' says Dan Schofield, researcher and DPhil student at Oxford University's Primate Models Lab, School of Anthropology. 'By harnessing the power of machine learning to unlock large video archives, it makes it feasible to measure behaviour over the long term, for example observing how the social interactions of a group change over several generations.' The computer model was trained using over 10 million images from Kyoto University's Primate Research Institute (PRI) video archive of wild chimpanzees in Guinea, West Africa. The new software is the first to continuously track and recognise individuals in a wide range of poses, performing with high accuracy in difficult conditions such as low lighting, poor image quality and motion blur. 'Access to this large video archive has allowed us to use cutting edge deep neural networks to train models at a scale that was previously not possible,' says Arsha Nagrani, co-author of the study and DPhil student at the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford. 'Additionally, our method differs from previous primate face recognition software in that it can be applied to raw video footage with limited manual intervention or pre-processing, saving hours of time and resources.' The technology has potential for many uses, such as monitoring species for conservation. Although the current application focused on chimpanzees, the software provided could be applied to other species, and help drive the adoption of artificial intelligence systems to solve a range of problems in the wildlife sciences. 'All our software is available open-source for the research community,' says Nagrani. 'We hope that this will help researchers across other parts of the world apply the same cutting-edge techniques to their unique animal data sets. As a computer vision researcher, it is extremely satisfying to see these methods applied to solve real, challenging biodiversity problems.' 'With an increasing biodiversity crisis and many of the world's ecosystems under threat, the ability to closely monitor different species and po[CENSORED]tions using automated systems will be crucial for conservation efforts, as well as animal behaviour research' adds Schofield. 'Interdisciplinary collaborations like this have huge potential to make an impact, by finding novel solutions for old problems, and asking biological questions which were previously not feasible on a large scale.'
  7. Queen Elizabeth II with UK prime minister Boris Johnson. Queen Elizabeth II has opened the landscaped gardens of Buckingham Palace to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson for exercise, as he recovers from coronavirus. Johnson, who contracted the virus recently, spent several days in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at St Thomas’ Hospital in London. He was released from the hospital on April 12. And now the prime minister is believed to have improved his exercise regime to regain fitness. Johnson was seen returning to Downing Street in workout gear after running within the confines of the monarch’s palace, reported People. Before using the Buckingham Palace gardens, Johnson was reportedly seen to exercise regularly in public. Besides, the leader was also photographed running across the grounds of Lambeth Palace, home of the Archbishop of Canterbury. Earlier, the Buckingham Palace garden had played host to former POTUS Barack Obama, apart from a number of national celebrations. While Queen Elizabeth and Johnson would usually meet once a week, they now do their weekly meetings via telephone call. In April, Queen Elizabeth also thanked health workers for their contributions and the people of her country for following government rules to stay at home, in a special broadcast amid the pandemic. “We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return. We will be with our friends again; we will be with our families again; we will meet again,” she had said.

S line exterior styling becomes standard Prestige trim dropped. Premium Plus trim can be optioned with its features. Technology package now includes Bang & Olufsen audio Parking Assistance package available New Black optic package with darkened aesthetics People Also Ask How much does the 2021 Audi Q3 cost? The 2021 Audi Q3 starts at $36,000. If you’re looking for ways to save a little money, Audi does offer a very flexible lease program that may help make the monthly payments a bit easier. Does the 2021 Audi Q3 hold its value as well as the competition? Yes. The Q3 is expected to have better-than-average resale value, though not as high as the Volvo XC40 or Lexus UX. Is there a hybrid or plug-in Audi Q3? No, for now, the only powertrain offered in the 2021 Audi Q3 is a turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. If you’re looking for something a bit more green, look to the Lexus UX Hybrid. Where is the 2021 Audi Q3 built? This Audi is built in Gyor, Hungary. Other Audis built there include the A3 sedan and TT coupe and roadster. Overview The 2021 Audi Q3 is the German luxury brand’s smallest crossover SUV. Starting at $36,000, the Q3 is also Audi’s least-expensive SUV. The Q3 was totally revamped just two years ago. This 2nd-generation Q3 brings bolder design, innovative technology, and excellent fit and finish. Last year’s model impressed us so much that we named it our Best Buy Award winner in a segment that includes formidable rivals like the Mercedes-Benz GLA, BMW X1, and Volvo XC40. The Q3 stands out with its standard quattro all-wheel-drive system and a long list of included features such as leather interior and a panoramic sunroof. Unlike rivals, only one powertrain is offered in the Q3, and we found its transmission in need of more refinement. But there’s good power on tap. Cargo space isn’t quite as generous as that of the boxy Volvo’s but considerable nonetheless for a subcompact SUV. Driving the 2021 Audi Q3 The latest generation of the Audi Q3 is now in a much better position to compete with its rivals thanks to its handsome style, a spacious interior, and a wide array of technology features. While this Audi isn’t as sporty as other models in the company’s lineup, it proved an entertaining vehicle on twisty roads. The biggest shortcoming we found in driving the new Q3 is its transmission programming: Shifts from the small SUV’s 8-speed automatic are somewhat jumpy when accelerating at lower speeds. Putting the vehicle into Dynamic mode does help smooth things out. Once you get past that initial jumpiness, power delivery is good. The Q3 wrings 228 horsepower from its turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder. That is enough to scoot the Q3 from 0-60 mph in seven seconds flat. That won’t blow your socks off, but it’s plenty quick enough to merge onto freeways without drama. We also like that despite its small size, the Q3 feels at home on open roads. Steering response is light and accurate, and Audi has done an admirable job of balancing performance and comfort. The Q3’s interior looks like it was pulled from a much more expensive Audi, making the drive that much nicer. This isn’t a vehicle that’s about hard-core performance; it’s about the overall experience. Favorite Features GORGEOUS, FUNCTIONAL INTERIOR Tall passengers will find the 2021 Audi Q3’s rear seating rather accommodating without infringing on cargo space. From the quality materials and stunning design to the integration of such high-tech features as a 10.1-inch touch screen and digital instrument cluster, the Q3 looks the part of a luxury SUV. TECH POWERHOUSE Along with the aforementioned features, Audi’s Q3 also comes with both Type A and C USB ports, Audi Pre Sense collision warning and preparation, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Optional are Audi’s brilliant Virtual Cockpit – an all-digital instrument cluster – top-view camera, and superb Bang & Olufsen audio system. 2021 Audi Q3 Interior With this latest Q3, Audi took an already attractive interior and made it better. Its high-quality materials and sharp, modern design give the Q3’s cabin the look and feel of an interior that’s a class above. Front and rear seats are respectably roomy given that this is a subcompact crossover. The second row slides forward and back for added space. Cargo space is also good, with 23.7 cubic feet behind the rear seat and 48 cubic feet with them folded. That does trail the 57.5 cubic feet of space in the more angular Volvo XC40. Up front, the Audi Q3’s center stack has an 8.8-inch or optional 10.1-inch screen that controls infotainment, with heat/vent/air-conditioning (HVAC) controls below. Nestled underneath those hard buttons is an available wireless smartphone charger, which worked with an iPhone 8+ without having to take it out of its case. The Q3 comes with a digital gauge cluster. Even better is the optional Audi Virtual Cockpit fully digital instrument cluster that can be configured to relay audio info, satellite maps, and more. Unlike rivals, the Q3 comes standard with leather upholstery. In addition to the usual black or beige, we are fans of the Okapi Brown. The new Black optic package also offers a choice of black or gray sport seats with contrast stitching. 2021 Audi Q3 Exterior This 2nd-gen version of the Q3 has a handsome, more mature design. It now looks less like a raised hatchback and more like a smaller-scale Audi Q5 SUV. Details we like include its classy grille, subtle sheet metal creases, and sharply angled lines around the LED headlights. Wide wheel arches house big 19- or 20-inch wheels touting bold designs that make the Q3 look like it’s moving fast even when standing still. An integrated rear spoiler is both beautiful and functional, as are the LED taillights found on every model. The formerly optional S-line treatment with exterior details like a more aggressive front end and wider lower openings is now standard. New for 2021 is the Black optic sport package that adds darkened 19-inch wheels, black accents, and roof rails. 2021 Audi Q3 Standard Features For an entry-level luxury SUV, the Q3 allures with a long list of standard features. A base model, which Audi dubs the “Premium” trim, includes leather upholstery, heated and 8-way power front seats with 4-way lumbar support, panoramic sunroof, a power tailgate, and tri-zone climate control. Audis are known for their impressive tech, and here, too, the Q3 excels out the gate. Standard is a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster plus an 8.8-inch central touchscreen. As is becoming par the course these days in most new cars, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto compatibility is standard. There are four USB ports, including USB-C ports, and a 10-speaker/180-watt audio system. Standard safety features include lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, and low-speed automatic emergency braking. 2021 Audi Q3 Options Stepping up to higher-trim Audi Q3 levels brings features like the Virtual Cockpit, the MMI touchpad with a larger screen (10.1 inches) and navigation, and a 15-speaker/680-watt Bang & Olufsen audio system. You can also get a top-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, power-folding side mirrors, and rear side airbags. Added safety and driver-assist features include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a system that aids in parallel and perpendicular parking. For 2021, the Premium Plus trim now comes with adaptive cruise control, customizable LED interior lighting, and a stainless-steel trunk sill. 2021 Audi Q3 Engine Audi offers just one engine and transmission in the Q3: A 228-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine mated to an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission with manual-shift mode. Audi’s quattro all-wheel drive is standard. With an estimated high of 27 mpg and 22 mpg combined, the Q3 falls on the lower end of subcompact luxury SUVs. 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 228 horsepower @ 5,000-6,700 rpm 258 lb-ft of torque @ 1,700-4,400 rpm EPA city/highway fuel economy: 19/27 mpg How Much Does the 2021 Audi Q3 Cost? The Audi Q3 brings a higher starting price for 2021 because it now comes standard with the S line package. That brings the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) to $36,000, plus destination. That’s $1,300 more than last year’s model. Loaded, a 2021 Audi Q3 can reach into the mid-$40,000 range. Even with its higher starting price for 2021, the Audi Q3 is in line with competitors. This is especially true if you factor in the Audi’s included all-wheel drive, which costs extra on rivals. Before buying, check the Fair Purchase Price to see what others in your area are paying for the new Q3. The Audi Q3’s resale value is above average. It is predicted to hold its value well, though not quite up to the level of a Volvo XC40. Which Model is Right for Me? 2021 Audi Q3 Premium All-wheel drive Panoramic sunroof Heated leather seats Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration Power liftgate 2021 Audi Q3 Premium Plus Audi cruise assist Wireless smartphone charger Keyless start & smart key Audi side assist with lane-departure warning 2021 Audi Q3 Safety Technology Audi Pre Sense front with pedestrian detection Standard on all models, this system checks for possible collisions up ahead with an object or a pedestrian. It warns the driver of any possible incidents, then uses sharp braking to further alert the driver, then uses the brakes to intervene if the driver doesn’t react. Audi side assist with rear cross-traffic assist and lane-departure warning This comes standard on the higher trim Premium Plus. It includes a blind-spot monitor, alerts you if you drift out of your lane, and warns you of cross traffic while you’re backing out of a parking space. Adaptive cruise control Standard on the Premium Plus, adaptive cruise control keeps the Q3 at a preset distance from the vehicle ahead, braking, and accelerating as needed. It can also work in stop-and-go traffic, and can bring the SUV to a complete stop.
  9. The US, UK, Australia and Canada have issued fresh condemnation of Beijing's new security law for Hong Kong, which they say has "flourished as a bastion of freedom". They say the international community has a "significant and long-standing stake" in its prosperity and stability. China's move to impose the new law during a global pandemic risked undermining trust in governments and international co-operation, they said. China has rejected foreign criticism. The law - approved by China's parliament on Thursday - has already sparked a new wave of anti-mainland protest in Hong Kong. On Wednesday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said developments in Hong Kong meant it could no longer be considered to have "a high degree of autonomy" from mainland China. This could lead to Hong Kong being treated the same as mainland China under US law, which would have major implications for its trade hub status. The UK on Thursday said visa rights for 300,000 overseas UK citizens in Hong Kong would be extended into a "pathway to future citizenship" if China did not suspend its security law plans. What is in the new statement? Direct imposition of the security law by Beijing rather than through Hong Kong's own institutions would "curtail the Hong Kong people's liberties" and "dramatically erode Hong Kong's autonomy and the system that made it so prosperous", the statement says. It would also conflict with China's international obligations within the Sino-British declaration, under which Hong Kong was returned to China, and would both undermine the "one country, two systems" principle and "raise the prospect of prosecution in Hong Kong for political crimes". The allies also say they are "deeply concerned" that the new law will deepen divisions in Hong Kong, which has seen repeated waves of protests and clashes over the territory's relationship with the mainland. "Rebuilding trust across Hong Kong society by allowing the people of Hong Kong to enjoy the rights and freedoms they were promised can be the only way back from the tensions and unrest that the territory has seen over the last year," the statement says. The US and its allies urge China to work with Hong Kong's government and people to find a "mutually acceptable accommodation". In other reaction, Japan said Hong Kong was an "extremely important partner" and that democracy and stability there must be maintained. What is the law about? China's parliament has backed the security legislation, which would make it a crime to undermine Beijing's authority in Hong Kong. The resolution - which now passes to China's senior leadership - could also see China installing its own security agencies in the region for the first time. Full details about exactly what behaviour will be outlawed under the new security law are not yet clear. It is due to be enacted before September. However it is expected to criminalise: secession - breaking away from the country subversion - undermining the power or authority of the central government terrorism - using violence or intimidation against people activities by foreign forces that interfere in Hong Kong Experts say they fear the law could see people punished for criticising Beijing - as happens in mainland China. For example, Nobel Laureate Liu Xiaobo was jailed for 11 years for subversion after he co-authored a document calling for political reform. China's foreign ministry in Hong Kong said it "firmly opposed and refuted" Mr Pompeo's assertion that Hong Kong had lost its autonomy and urged the US to "immediately stop meddling" in China's internal affairs. It described US criticism of the new draft law as "utterly imperious, unreasonable and shameless". Hong Kong's leader Carrie Lam has denied that the law would curtail the rights of Hong Kongers and said it was a "responsible" move to protect the law-abiding majority. What is happening in Hong Kong? Clashes broke out on Wednesday as Hong Kong's parliament debated a different proposed law, which would make it a crime to disrespect the Chinese national anthem. Hundreds of people were arrested in protests over that and the security law. Security remained high on Thursday, as a tense debate in the Legislative Council continued. At least two pro-democracy legislators were ejected from the council on Thursday. One lawmaker, Ted Hui, threw rotten plants on to the floor of the chamber, saying it symbolised the decay of Hong Kong's political system. "I want the speaker to feel what is meant by rotten," he said. The speaker deemed the package to be an "unknown dangerous object", and called police and fire crews. Why is China doing this? Hong Kong was handed back to China from British control in 1997, but under a unique agreement - a mini-constitution called the Basic Law and a so-called "one country, two systems" principle. They are supposed to protect certain freedoms for Hong Kong: freedom of assembly and speech, an independent judiciary and some democratic rights - freedoms that no other part of mainland China has. Under the same agreement, Hong Kong had to enact its own national security law - this was set out in Article 23 of the Basic Law. But its unpo[CENSORED]rity meant it has never been done - the government tried in 2003 but had to back down after protests. Then, last year, protests over an extradition law turned violent and evolved into a broader anti-China and pro-democracy movement.

  12. Game Information's: Developer & Publisher: SOFF Games & Last Level Platforms: macintosh operating systems, microsoft windows, linux Genre: Action, Indie, RPG Release Date: 21 May, 2018 System Requirements: NOTE: The game is on a promotion, check more about it Here. Every week we abandon Brendan to the post-apocalyptic wastes of early access. This time, the cold, hard life of Next Day: Survival. I found my new friend sitting in a car outside the Safe Zone compound. The car was broken down and stationary, but he sat behind the wheel anyway. He was making his own speedy car noises and engine sounds. “Brrrrrrr-brm-brrrrrrrrr. Brrr-brr-brrrrrrrvvvv!” I stepped in front of the immobile vehicle, wearing nothing but the boxer shorts and t-shirt that accompanied me into this world. I peered through the windshield to get a closer look at the man inside, pretending to drive. “Oh shit!” he shouted “A pedestrian!” He swerved to avoid me, making screechy-tyre sound effects and turning the car wheels impotently to one side even as the car itself went nowhere. Later, after we had become friends, Scion would insist to me that the car was a 1954 Monte Carlo, and try to sell it to me for five dollars – a transaction which is impossible according to the systems and mechanics of this slapdash survival game. But if it had been possible, I might have taken the deal. Even though the words hovering over the salesman’s head did read, in large crimson lettering: “[TRAITOR]”. This is the type of multiplayer encounter you might have in Next Day: Survival, an open world shooter sticking firmly to the start-in-your-pants philosophy. You can probably guess its modus operandi from the muddy screenshots alone. Yeah, you’ll be looting tins of stew from abandoned homes. Yes, it’s set in an unspecified eastern European locale. Yes, you’ll have unsettling encounters with other players that often end with a bullet-shaped cavity appearing neatly in your forehead. The only unexpected thing is that there are no zombies. But there is toxic gas, and some radioactive bears. It’s more or less a zombieless DayZ (although it also has a PvE mode, in which only Stalker-like NPCs can kill players). There’s even a rough and ready faction system, which will be loosely familiar to those who played Bohemia’s sadism sim when it was still an Arma mod. There are “civilians” and “looters” and you basically pick a side after completing a few fetch quests from NPCs in the Safe Zone. This is a compound with steadily respawning resources and a handy well, carved out for thirsty new players. A useful place where your character can happily mime the act of drinking invisible water through a gas mask. There’s also a storage guy here, who’ll keep your guns or trinkets safe if you want to “bank” them rather than risk taking them out on a foraging trip. He also doubles as a shop, where you can buy and sell guns, gear and food for any currency earned via NPC quests. Stores like this also appear in other encampments run by civilians or looters found elsewhere on the map. These aren’t “safe zones” like the starting area, where bullets simply vanish after being fired, but they are relatively safe places for people belonging to that faction. Because if you kill one of your own, you are marked neither as a [CIVILIAN] or [LOOTER] but as a [TRAITOR]. And that’s bad. This is what happened to Scion, my new friend with the 1954 Monte Carlo. He told me how he was out in the woods with a neutral player (this is the label everyone starts with, until they choose a side) when another looter like himself began shooting his neutral friend. He returned fire and became marked as a Judas. After dying, he now appeared in the “asshole of nowhere” where he complained that he would usually die of the cold before reaching anywhere. I had already suffered the game’s version of hypothermia, and can confirm that the temperature system is extra punishing at night. Stay too long in the cold without proper clothing and you get the flu, hunching over and coughing loudly, unable to run as fast or as far as normal. Unless you pop some antibiotic pills and sit by a fire for a good amount of time, the cold can kill you. Scion must have innately understood this human need for warm clothing, because he told me to wait where I was and ran to the store room of the safe zone. He returned and dropped a bunch of objects at my bare feet – a jacket, trousers, shoes and (to my surprise) a fully loaded submachine gun. We spent some time after that considering the other vehicles of the area. A Harley Davidson motorcycle with a sidecar, a 1972 Volkswagen van (he said) which lay on the road, derelict and rusted beyond salvation. I wondered how I might make my way back to my encampment without these undriveable props. My only regret was that I wouldn’t be able to take my new pal with me. Because although the traitor penalty would disappear after a time, he would still be a looter. And although the game had bugged out and marked me as “neutral”, I belonged with my other friends in the civilians. This is us around a campfire in one of the civvy camps. Some of these geared-up dudes are just NPCs. In particular, the guitar player, who plucked the strings at such an annoyingly high and unalterable volume that he was universally resented by all who sat there, warming themselves by the fire to stave off the hypothermia of the night. I would say something to Xander, a young player who had given me a pair of insulated camouflage trousers out of nothing but good will, and he would yell back: “I can’t hear you because of Bob Dylan over there.” There are only a couple of tunes all the guitar players of this world know how to play. In the real world, Xander’s insult would have shut him up, but robot guitar players are famously bad at taking hints. He continued to strum the NPC equivalent of Wonderwall. “I’ll be right back,” I said, walking away. “I gotta get some water.” I walked toward a small pond of fresh water, where I could fill up a plastic bottle and take some refreshing sips before quickly retreating back to the warmth of the flames. I left the light of the camp behind and trounced downhill through the dark to the nearby watering hole. Then, a gunshot. I hit the dirt. Looked up at the settlement. NPC guards ran past the watchtowers. I thought I could see a couple of the players from the fire moving among them. “What happened, fire friends?” I typed, too far away now to speak directly through proximity chat. A message came back. It was Xander. “Someone punched the guitar guy,” he said, “and got shot.” When I came back to the fire, the body of the player who had hit the guitarist was slumped beside a stone block. The NPCs ran around for a little bit more, clearly panicked and anxious about the whole ordeal, before finally returning to their usual patrols and idling. One of them sat back down at the fire and pulled out his guitar again. A helicopter flew overhead, against the moonlight. According to the game’s feed it had dropped a humanitarian package somewhere – a container packed with supplies. The go-to violence catalyst for any survival game. Xander said he was going to check it out. If I had been a braver player I would have gone with him. But instead I decided to use the drop as a distraction, along with the cover of night, to make a break for the Safe Zone, where I still needed to complete some dull quests to earn the glorious AK-47 all the cool kids were wearing on their backs. We said our goodbyes and I ran off into the cold. I’d be sick with the flu when I finally arrived in the safe zone but at least I had made it. Shortly afterwards, following a few deaths by toxic gas and wildlife (one of the quests involves entering a poisonous area in a hazmat suit and facing down a mutated bear) I stepped out onto the road and saw a man “driving” a car. I must have been seeking some small connection to the English-speaking world that day, because after he swerved to avoid me, I immediately got into the passenger seat with Scion and started making car engine noises with him out of a sense of childish solidarity. After he gave me the clothes and a gun, we decided to fix up the old “Monte Carlo” and take her for a spin, our differing allegiances to looter and civilian be damned. But it turns out fixing vehicles takes a lot of work. You need a battery, spark plugs, fuel, ignition keys and a toolkit. The latter can be bought at exorbitant rates from the shopman but the rest we didn’t have, nor did we know exactly what components were missing and what were already installed. “I know where we can get fuel,” I said. After buying a container from shopdude, I ran to a nearby petrol station, just outside the safe zone. There was nobody around. Filling up the jerry can takes time, like all other actions (eating, cooking meat, administering first aid). As the meter filled up, I looked around with a careful eye for any marauders. But it wasn’t until the can was full and I was on my way home that I saw the guy in a balaclava pointing his gun at me from across a patch of grass. His name read “The Man With The Plan.” I hid behind a bush, raised my rifle toward him and started shouting: “Chill out, Man! Let’s just go our separate ways, Man. Okay? That’s it. Chill, Man. Chillllll.” He sidestepped slowly, slowly, toward the tree line, never taking his iron sights off me, nor saying anything in return, until he finally vanished into the trees and I sprinted out of my own life-saving shrub and back toward the Monte Carlo. The fuel run had been a success. Scion welcomed me back and showed me where to fill her up. Then we both hopped in to see if all was in working order. No such luck, the car remained immobile. We hopped out and wondered what was missing – most likely the spark plugs. We didn’t consider the other players, who were now gathering around us and talking trash while getting in and out of our car, to be any threat. This was the safe zone, after all. Until one of them clambered in and the car’s engine started up. “What!” I looked at the guy in the driver’s seat. It was The Man With The Plan. After a lengthy kerfuffle in which Scion, myself and a posse of other players dived in and out of the car’s passenger seats in an attempt to follow the thief wherever he planned to drive, he eventually got some speed in an otherwise empty vehicle and took off into the distance. He ran over some people on the way, then briefly parked at the final turn in the road, maybe to see if anyone was following. Nobody was. The posse had melted back into the trees, like guerilla fighters, and Scion and I stood on the road and looked helplessly at the Monte Carlo in the distance, starting up again and finally rolling slowly out of sight. “I think that guy just stole your car,” I said. “Right?” said Scion. We went back to the safe zone and then decided to go kill some civilians. Even tales like these can’t stop Next Day from being a re-hash of DayZ with a different map and a rudimentary faction system. But that doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy my time with the civilians and looters of the world. I was just sad for Scion and I. Our dreams of an epic road trip, of building a friendship free of prejudice and expectation of a wider conflict, had suffered the fate of many an across-the-divide relationship. A life of freedom, taken from us by The Man. Game Trailer:

  13. With a free screen recorder, you can capture exactly what's happening on your screen (whether it's the entire display or just a selected area) and either stream it live, or save it as a video file. The best screen recorders can do a lot more than that though, with options for recording your own commentary as a voiceover, adding captions and notes, and even using picture-in-picture to add footage from your webcam. The right software will also let you export your recordings in a variety of formats, and even export them directly to YouTube. Not all free screen recorders are the same though – some only record for a few seconds, some come bundled with extra software you probably don't want, and some apply unsightly watermarks to your finished videos. That's why we've rounded up the very best screen recorders you can download today, helping you choose the right one for your project. Whether you're making a software tutorial, recording a Let's Play video, or capturing a video call, there's something here that'll fit the bill. The best free screen recorders at a glance OBS Studio FlashBack Express Apowersoft Free Online Screen Recorder Debut Video Capture ShareX Screencast-O-Matic 1. OBS Studio The best screen recorder for any software, including games Platform: Windows, macOS, Linux HD streaming and recording No restrictions on video length Open source and ad-free Setup takes a little while If you’re a keen gamer, OBS Studio is easily the best screen recorder for you. Unlike the hugely po[CENSORED]r FRAPS (which only lets you record for 30 seconds at a stretch unless you’ve bought a license, and applies a watermark to the resulting footage), OBS Studio is open source, and completely free to use without restrictions. OBS Studio supports both streaming and recording in high definition, with no restrictions on the number or length of your creations. You can stream live to Twitch or YouTube gaming, save projects and come back to them later, or encode your footage in FLV format and save it locally. Because OBS Studio can record directly from your graphics card, it’s able to capture games running in full-screen mode (many other screen recorders can only record if the game is windowed), with customizable hotkeys to control the recording. OBS Studio can also make full use of multi-core CPUs for improved performance, and can record at 60FPS (or even higher). It might take a little while to set it up exactly how you want, but OBS Studio is by far the best and most powerful screen recorder for gamers. 2. FlashBack Express Ideal for recording games and capturing footage from a webcam Platform: Windows Well designed interface Choice of output formats Record from screen or webcam Some tools are paid-only OBS Studio is our favorite free screen recorder, but Flashback Express comes an extremely close second. Despite being a free version of a paid program, FlashBack Express won't put ugly watermarks over your recordings or impose time limits, and it's packed with features and tools that rival many premium programs. Its interface is less intimidating than OBS Studio, so if you've never used a screen recorder before, it's an excellent choice. You can record from your whole screen, a window, a selected area, or a webcam. Once you’ve finished, your recording will appear in a simple editor, where you can crop and trim it to suit your needs, then export it to YouTube, an FTP server, or your PC. That’s all fairly standard fare for a free screen recorder, but take a minute to dive into Flashback’s advanced options and you’ll find a wealth of thoughtfully designed settings that will make your desktop recordings look truly professional. The recorder can automatically obscure passwords entered on screen, replace your silly wallpaper with a plain one, hide messy desktop icons, and highlight your mouse pointer to make it easier to follow. There's also a dedicated gaming mode that lets you define the number of frames recorded per second. There’s no limit on the length of your recordings unless you choose to set one, which can be useful if there’s a chance you might accidentally leave the recorder running. You can also choose to break long recordings up into chunks – a brilliant touch that helps you avoid creating huge, unwieldy files. Your recordings won’t be watermarked, either. Following a recent update, Flashback Express can export in WMV, AVI and MP4 formats, eliminating the need for a separate video converter, and it no longer requires a free license key for activation – just install the software and you're ready to start recording. Developer Blueberry Software has also released a free screen recorder designed specifically for games – FBX. This recorder captures HD in-game footage, with hardware acceleration for AMD and Nvidia cards, and Intel CPUs. If you're thinking about upgrading to FlashBack Pro, Blueberry software is offering TechRadar readers an exclusive 25% discount. 3. Apowersoft Free Online Screen Recorder An in-browser recorder more powerful than most desktop apps Platform: Windows, macOS, Linux (in browser) No time limits or watermarks Lots of export options Can record from webcams Not suitable for games If you want to record a presentation, software demonstration or tutorial, give Apowersoft Free Online Screen Recorder a try. It's a browser-based tool, which means it's not suitable for games, but for any other tasks it's ideal. The first time you use Apowersoft Free Online Screen Recorder, you'll be prompted to download a small launcher application. You'll then be provided with a control bar packed with more options than you'll find in most desktop screen recording software. You can capture footage from your desktop or a webcam, and record audio from your PC, microphone, both or neither. You can record the whole screen, select an area manually or choose one of the preset resolutions – ideal if you’re recording a clip for YouTube, for example, and don’t want to use a separate video editor to resize it later. Apowersoft Free Online Screen Recorder also offers customizable keyboard shortcuts for speed and convenience. You can choose whether or not to include the cursor in the recording and take your pick from a range of output formats including MP4, WMV, AVI, MOV and many more. You can even add annotations during the recording. Once you’re done, you can save the recording as a video file or GIF, upload it directly to YouTube or Vimeo, or send it to Google Drive or Dropbox. You can also edit the clip. Selecting this option will download an additional component – Apowersoft Video Editor – which lets you make simple adjustments before exporting your video in your preferred format. A truly exceptional tool. Note that the 'Download desktop version' button links to a program called Apowersoft Screen Recorder Pro. This is a trial version of a premium application, and is more limited than Online Screen Recorder. 4. Debut Video Capture Capable of recording from screens, IP cameras and webcams Platform: Windows Scheduled recordings Can record from webcams Can record from IP cameras Looks a little dated Debut Video Capture is a new addition to our roundup of free screen recorders, and although its slightly dated design does it few favors, it's an extremely powerful program that can do much more than just capture what's happening on your PC monitor. In addition to basic screen recording (with no time limits or watermarks), Debut Video Capture can also record footage from external devices, including webcams and security cameras. It can even record on a regular schedule, which means it can become the main hub of a home security system. Not too shabby for a program that's totally free for personal use. There are no post-production editing tools, but you can apply filters and add your own captions and watermarks before you begin recording. There's no option for exporting videos directly to YouTube or Facebook, but they can be saved in all the main formats, including MP4, MOV and AVI (to name just three). Debut Video Capture is currently in public beta, so we look forward to seeing the final release version with a lick of extra polish soon. 5. ShareX A great choice if you want to share your screen recordings online Platform: Windows Capture as video file or GIF Dozens of export options Also great for static screen grabs Not suitable for games ShareX is an open source app for capturing still screen grabs and recording videos. There are no watermarks or time limits to worry about, but the interface isn't the most intuitive in the world so you’ll be best off using keyboard shortcuts. For quick reference, you can start a recording by tapping Shift + Print Screen, and stop it again using Ctrl + Shift + Print Screen. You can also use this free screen recorder to save your capture as a GIF rather than a video file, which can be extremely useful for sharing on forums and social media. Not only is ShareX a brilliant free screen recorder, it can also capture an entire scrolling webpage, capture and identify text via OCR, and even capture your screen according to a schedule. Another of its best features is the ability to send your captured grabs and videos straight to a file-sharing or social media site. There’s a vast array of options, which you can check out on the project’s site. Unfortunately, ShareX doesn’t support taking screen grabs or recordings from games running in full-screen mode. Other than that, it’s a superb screen recorder that will serve you extremely well. 6. Screencast-O-Matic A browser-based free screen recorder with a lot to offer Platform: Windows, macOS, ChromeOS (in browser) Supports captions Can zoom while recording Videos are watermarked Maximum length 15 minutes Screencast-O-Matic is another browser-based free screen recorder, and a very capable one at that. Recordings are limited to 15 minutes in length, but you can record as many clips as you like, zoom while recording, trim your recorded clips, add captions, save them to your desktop, YouTube or the cloud, share a video link, or add one of 30 royalty-free music tracks Hit ‘Start recording for free’, followed by ‘Launch free recorder’. As with Apowersoft Free Online Screen Recorder, you’ll be prompted to download and install a small web launcher, after which the screen recorder will launch. Prepare your screen and adjust the size of the recording window to suit your needs (it can record the whole screen or just a selected area), then hit the red button. You can capture audio from your PC or a microphone, and record footage from your screen, a webcam or both. Upgrading to a Deluxe account gives you extra features including scripted recordings, drawing and annotations, a video editor, and (perhaps most usefully) the ability to generate captions automatically with text-to-speech. That’s an impressive set of tools for $1.65 (about £1, AU$2.50) per month, but the free version of Screencast-O-Matic has a lot to offer as well. The only real downside is that your recordings will be watermarked unless you upgrade, but if that’s not an issue then this free screen recorder is well worth a look.
  14. With numerous laptop manufacturers boarding the AMD Ryzen 4000-series (codename Renoir) train, Xiaomi is keen to find a seat for itself as well. As reported by Gadgets 360, the Chinese tech giant just announced the RedmiBook 13, RedmiBook 14 and RedmiBook 16 lthat are powered by AMD's latest 7nm APUs. Independent of the size, the three laptop's screens share similar specifications. They feature a 1080p resolution 60 Hz refresh rate and 100% Adobe RGB color coverage. The 13-inch and 14-inch models have a maximum brightness level of just 250 nits though, while the value jumps to 300 nits on the larger 16.1-inch model. The new RedmiBooks are sporting a modern design with very thin bezels that measure 3.26mm. The screen-to-body ratio on the RedmiBook 16 is 90%, and it's 89% on the RedmiBook 13 and RedmiBook 14. The laptops are pretty lightweight, so carrying them around won't be a problem. The RedmiBook 13 and RedmiBook 14 weigh around 2.6 pounds (1.2kg), and the RedmiBook 16 checks in at 4 pounds (1.8kg). Besides the larger screen, the higher weight is due to the battery size. The RedmiBook 16 has a 46 Wh battery, and the remaining models employ a 40 Wh. In any case, Xiaomi is promising a battery life of up to 12 hours, which is mainly possible thanks to AMD's mobile Ryzen 4000 U-series APUs rthat un within the 15W limit. Xiaomi provides a compact 65W charger for the RedmiBook laptops. The company claims that the RedmiBook 16 can charge from 0-50% in 38 minutes. The Ryzen 5 4500U is equipped with six CPU cores and six threads that run with a 2.3 GHz base clock and 4 GHz boost clock. The Ryzen 7 4700U, on the other hand, will cater to consumers needing more firepower. The Ryzen 7 4700U comes with eight cores and eight threads with a base and boost clock speeds up to 2 GHz and 4.1 GHz, respectively. As far as integrated graphics go, the Ryzen 5 4500U packs six Vega Compute Units (CUs) at 1,500 MHz, while the Ryzen 7 4700U has seven Vega CUs running at 1,600 MHz. Basically, all the RedmiBook laptops arrive with a 512GB SSD for base storage. Oddly, only the RedmiBook 13 is available with a 1TB SSD option. For RAM, you can choose between 8GB or 16GB. Regardless of the model, the trio of RedmiBook devices have identical connectivity options. You can enjoy dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0. There are two USB Type-C ports, one USB Type-A port, one HDMI port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A fingerprint scanner and a pair of 2W speakers are also present. The base models (Ryzen 5 4500U, 8GB, 512GB SSD) for the RedmiBook 13, RedmiBook 14 and RedmiBook 16 start at $532. The 16GB variants are equally priced at $560. With identical pricing, you can feel free to choose the size that works best for you. The Ryzen 7 4700U versions of the RedmiBook 14 and RedmiBook 16 cost $630. The RedmiBook 13 variant retails for $700, likely because of the 1TB SSD. Shoppers who preorder the new RedmiBooks between today and May 31 will receive discounts from $28-$84, depending on the model. The laptops go on sale in China on June 1. Xiaomi didn't state whether they will be available outside of Chinese market. The models will arrive with Windows 10 Home Chinese Edition.

But with more awareness, besides diet fads taking over our consciousness, we now view them as carbs, which are often deemed unhealthy. Skipping carbs leads to faster weight loss and so rice and roti are seen as something that will interfere with your path to a fitter body. Eating an excess of either can lead to excess calorie intake, which can lead to weight gain. (Source: Pixabay) What is healthier? Weight loss happens when there is an overall reduction in calorie intake, explains Anushka Baindur, senior dietician at Fortis Hospital. Rice and chapati, when taken in the same quantities, provide more or less the same number of calories. “So rather than opting for one over the other, more thought should be given to the quantity eaten, be it rice or roti,” she explains. An excess of either can lead to extra calorie intake, which can lead to weight gain. Have a balanced meal The only difference between the two is the fibre content. Foods with high fibre content makes you feel full faster so you would eat less. Among rice and wheat, whole wheat has the highest fibre content, followed by brown rice and then white rice. But even if the rice has a lower fibre content, it can be balanced by combining it with lots of vegetables and whole pulses, so that one also ends up eating a lesser quantity of rice. Hence, the message here is to eat either rice or roti within limits and balance the meal with a protein like dals, pulses or lean meat and lots of vegetables.
  17. Pros All-new styling Retains rear-drive bias All-wheel drive available Full suite of driver assists Cons No V8 offered 4-cylinder replaces base V6 No hybrid alternative What’s New this Year? All-new sheet metal New interior design Camera-based adaptive suspension People Also Ask Is the 2021 Genesis G80 a good luxury car? While Genesis is relatively new to the scene and doesn’t have the brand cachet of more established European makes, it does have a proven track record of delivering solid products. The G80 offers technology and comfort on par with its rivals at a low cost. Throw in a longer warranty and you have a compelling case for adding the G80 to your shopping list. What makes the 2021 Genesis G80 unique in its class? The Genesis G80 checks all the boxes of cars in this class by offering a choice of rear- or all-wheel drive and a full suite of driver assists. The 2021 G80 has much more dramatic styling than the understated model it replaces. Also, there are leading-edge technologies, like camera-based adaptive suspension that will give the G80 an edge in its class. Does the Genesis G80 offer good resale value? Thanks to its class-leading warranty of 5 years/60,000 miles bumper-to-bumper and 10 years/100,000 miles on its powertrain, the Genesis G80 performs well in holding its value. Where is the 2021 Genesis G80 built? The Genesis G80 is imported from South Korea, where it’s built at a plant in Ulsan by the division’s parent company, Hyundai. Overview Genesis is an upstart among luxury brands having launched as a separate division from Hyundai in the past three years. Its beginnings are analogous to Lexus, which was created three decades ago by Toyota. The G80, formerly known as the Hyundai Genesis, has established itself as a 5-passenger luxury sedan by offering plenty of features, good build quality and value. Renamed the G80, it’s been an anchor in the lineup and continues in that critical role through its first complete overhaul since the division’s start. The new model embodies the bold styling introduced on the facelift of the G90 and in the debut of the GV80 SUV. In addition to giving it an all-new look, Genesis says the all-new platform will also provide the same driving thrills we’ve come to expect from the G70. Beneath that sheet metal is a rear-drive-biased platform that offers available all-wheel drive. Perhaps the biggest change is the elimination of the 420-horsepower V8 as an option. Also, the previous normally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 base-engine has given way to a 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-4. The step-up engine is a new 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. It replaces the 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 that previously slotted between the base V6 and the V8. Genesis has both technology and value on offer here in the 2021 G80. In addition to all the latest safety and driver assists, this midsize sedan is also equipped with the latest in infotainment and connectivity. Base prices start below $50,000, which is a relative bargain among its rivals like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, and Audi A6. In addition to its class-leading warranty, Genesis also offers a wide range of concierge services and 3-years’ complimentary maintenance as part of the ownership experience. Favorite Features CAMERA-BASED ADAPTIVE SUSPENSION This available feature uses a camera to read to the road surface ahead and adjusts the suspension in real-time to provide both a comfortable ride and precise handling. REMOTE PARK ASSIST Using your key fob outside the vehicle, you can remotely move the G80 forward or backward to position it in tight parking spaces. The car is also equipped with a self-parking feature that will parallel or perpendicular park the vehicle with the driver behind the wheel. 2021 Genesis G80 Interior With its minimalist interior design, the new Genesis G80 promises a sense of serenity. That clean look extends to the 2-spoke steering wheel that has minimal switchgear. Other controls on the dash are also grouped on the lower half allowing for an uncluttered upper surface. The only major element is a prominent 14.5-inch infotainment screen controlled by a console-mounted dial that incorporates a handwriting-recognition surface. The G80 also employs a second large console-mounted dial as the gear selector. In front of the driver is an available 12.3-inch instrument display that includes a 3D appearance for the gauges. The luxuriously appointed interior includes heated/ventilated seats, front and rear. Active bolsters in the front seats use air bladders to provide varying levels of support depending on the selected drive mode. The all-new architecture of the 2021 G80 provides improved visibility thanks to thinner A-pillars, a low cowl, and a frameless rear-view mirror. 2021 Genesis G80 Exterior The new G80 has a bolder look thanks to its massive shield-shaped diamond-pattern grille. The execution is in line with the larger G90 sedan and GV80 SUV, which includes thin, twin-bar lighting elements that wrap into the front fenders. While the G80 rides on the same 118.5-inch wheelbase as its predecessor, the new model is about an inch and a half wider and a touch lower, giving it greater presence. The twin-bar light theme is carried through the fender vents aft of the front wheels and through the rear LED taillights. The rear lights start on the rear haunches and run side-to-side across the rear. In profile, the G80 has a long hood and low, sleek fastback roofline that sweeps down into the rear deck. A crisp character line flows from the top of the fenders, through the side and above the rear wheel arches, giving the car the tapered, aerodynamic look of a 4-door coupe. 2021 Genesis G80 Standard Features Standard equipment on the new Genesis G80 includes 18-inch wheels, LED lighting, leatherette upholstery, 12-way power heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry with push-button start, dual-zone climate control with microfilter, a 14.5-inch infotainment screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto Compatibility, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping and follow assist, rear-cross traffic collision avoidance, and forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection. 2021 Genesis G80 Options Among the available features on the G80 are camera-based adaptive suspension, surround-view monitor, 19- and 20-inch wheels, all-wheel drive, a heated steering wheel, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, automatic adjusting seat bolsters, 3-zone climate control, Nappa leather upholstery, remote smart-parking assist, wireless device charging, a panoramic sunroof, power trunk, power door-close, a digital key, and a power rear sunshade. 2021 Genesis G80 Engines There are two engines offered in the 2021 Genesis G80, a base turbocharged inline 4-cylinder, and a twin-turbo V6. Both mate to 8-speed automatic transmissions. In standard form, the G80 comes as rear-wheel drive, while all-wheel drive is available. 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 300 horsepower @ 5,800 rpm 311 lb-ft of torque @ 1,650-4,000 rpm EPA city/highway fuel economy: N/A 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 375 horsepower @ 5,800 rpm 391 lb-ft of torque @ 1,300-4,500 rpm EPA city/highway fuel economy: N/A How Much Does the 2021 Genesis G80 Cost? The MSRP for the 2021 Genesis G80 starts at $47,700 for the base 2.5-liter turbo rear-drive model. The 4-cylinder Advanced trim retails for $52,300 and the Prestige model goes for $56,600. AWD adds $3,150 to Standard and Advanced, while the Prestige AWD is $2,550 more. The 3.5T standard V6 rear-drive model starts at $59,100 and tops out at $65,100. AWD is $3,150 extra. All prices exclude $1,025 delivery. 18. The FBI will investigate the death of a black man in the US state of Minnesota after a video emerged showing a policeman kneeling on his neck. In the footage, the man, believed to be in his 40s, is heard groaning and repeatedly saying "I can't breathe" to the white officer. The Minneapolis Police Department said it was responding to a reported crime. The incident echoed that of Eric Garner, a black man who died being arrested in 2014. Garner was placed in a chokehold and uttering the words "I can't breathe" nearly a dozen times. The phrase became a rallying cry for activists protesting alleged police brutality against people of colour in the US. The Minnesota Police admitted that the man in the footage filmed on Monday died after a "medical incident" in a "police interaction". He was suspected of committing a forgery, meaning to have been fraudulently altering or making a false reproduction of a product. At a press conference on Tuesday, Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey described the incident as "completely and utterly messed up". "I believe what I saw and what I saw is wrong on every level," Mr Frey said. "Being black in America should not be a death sentence." It is the latest accusation of US police brutality against African Americans. Recent high-profile cases include an officer in Maryland who fatally shot a man inside a patrol car. The incident in Minneapolis on Monday evening began after officers located the man in his car, police said in a statement. They were told the man, who has not been identified, was "sitting on top of a blue car and appeared to be under the influence". After being ordered to step away from the vehicle, the man physically resisted officers, according to police. "Officers were able to get the suspect into handcuffs and noted he appeared to be suffering medical distress," the statement added. In the 10-minute video filmed by a witness, the man is kept on the ground by the officer and, at one point, says: "Don't kill me". Witnesses urged the officer to take his knee off the man's neck, noting that he was not moving. One says, "His nose is bleeding", while another pleads, "Get off his neck." The man then appears motionless before he is put on a stretcher and into an ambulance. Police said no weapons were used during the incident and that body camera footage had been handed to the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, which is investigating the case. Two of the officers involved have been put on paid administrative leave. After the video emerged, police said in a statement: "As additional information has been made available, it has been determined that the Federal Bureau of Investigations will be a part of this investigation." Speaking to US media on Tuesday, Minneapolis Police Chief Medaria Arradondo said the force's policies "regarding placing someone under control" will be reviewed as part of the probe. The FBI did not respond to a request for comment. Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar - reportedly shortlisted as Joe Biden's running mate - issued a statement calling for a "complete and thorough outside investigation." "Justice must be served for this man and his family, justice must be served for our community, justice must be served for our country," she said. "I can't breathe" became a national rallying cry against police brutality in the US after the July 2014 death of Eric Garner. Garner, an unarmed black man, uttered the phrase 11 times after being detained by police on suspicion of illegally selling loose cigarettes. They were the final words of the 43-year-old, who died after a police officer placed him in a chokehold. A city medical examiner ruled the chokehold contributed to Garner's death. The New York City police officer involved in Garner's deadly arrest was fired from the police force more than five years later, in August 2019.

New software "streams" data and code resources to an app from a cloud server when necessary, allowing the app to use only the space it needs on a phone at any given time. "It's like how Netflix movies aren't actually stored on a computer. They are streamed to you as you are watching them," said Saurabh Bagchi, a Purdue University professor of electrical and computer engineering, and computer science, and director of the Center for Resilient Infrastructures, Systems and Processes. "Here the application components, like heavy video or graphics or code paths, are streaming instantly despite the errors and slowdowns that are possible on a cellular network." Bagchi's team showed in a study how the software, called "AppStreamer," cuts down storage requirements by at least 85% for po[CENSORED]r gaming apps on an Android. The software seamlessly shuffles data between an app and a cloud server without stalling the game. Most study participants didn't notice any differences in their gaming experience while the app used AppStreamer. Since AppStreamer works for these storage-hungry gaming apps, it could work for other apps that usually take up far less space, Bagchi said. The software also allows the app itself to download faster to a phone. The researchers will present their findings Feb. 18 at the 17th International Conference on Embedded Wireless Systems and Networks in Lyon, France. Conference organizers have selected this study as one of three top papers. AppStreamer is a type of software known as middleware, located between the apps on a device and the operating system. The middleware automatically predicts when to fetch data from a cloud server. AT&T Labs Research provided data from cellular networks for this study to help evaluate which bandwidths AppStreamer would use and how much energy it would consume. AppStreamer could help phones better accommodate 5G connectivity -- high-speed wireless cellular networks that would allow devices to download movies in seconds and handle other data-heavy tasks much faster than the 4G networks currently available to most phones. Using AppStreamer on a 5G network would mean that an app downloads instantly, runs faster and takes up minimal space on a phone. The researchers also designed AppStreamer to use "edge computing," which stores and sends data from edge servers. These servers, located in spots such as cellphone towers, are closer to a device compared to the cloud. The shorter distance reduces data download time. Bagchi's lab researches ways to make edge computing more reliable. Bagchi wrote on those challenges in an article recently published in Communications of the ACM. The researchers believe that AppStreamer could be good for more than just phones. In order for self-driving cars to respond to their surroundings more safely, they would need to reliably pull data from servers in milliseconds. Middleware such as AppStreamer could eventually supply this functionality through edge computing on a 5G network.
  22. Rumors about AMD refreshing its Ryzen 3000-series (codename Matisse) lineup are starting to pile up. The Ryzen 9 3900X, Ryzen 7 3800X, and Ryzen 5 3600X are reportedly the eligible candidates for the makeover. To avoid confusion, AMD will need to find some way to differentiate the rewarmed processors from the regular models effectively. Apparently, that's where the chipmaker's own Radeon branding enters the game. The current buzz on the street is that AMD will market the new Zen 2 chips with the XT moniker. If there's credence to the rumor, the Matisse family could be on the verge of welcoming the Ryzen 9 3900 XT, Ryzen 7 3800 XT, and Ryzen 5 3600 XT. When it comes to processors refreshes, it's best to keep realistic expectations. Currently, it doesn't make any sense for AMD to increase core counts because that would just cannibalize the existing Ryzen offerings. Much of the performance improvement on the refreshed versions will come along the lines of higher clock speeds. It stands to reason that TSMC's 7nm FinFET process node is aging like fine wine and could explain how AMD is receiving silicon with a higher level of quality than when Matisse first dropped. The specifications for the Ryzen 3000 XT processors come at the hands of a Chinese user on the po[CENSORED]r Chiphell forums. Normally, we wouldn't pay much attention to the rumor. As first spotted by Twitter user HXL, world-renowned overclocker Toppc had previously confirmed the specifications on his personal Facebook account before deleting the post. Either way, we should still treat the information with some caution. AMD Ryzen 3000-Series XT Specifications Specifications are unconfirmed. The Ryzen 9 3900 XT and Ryzen 7 3800 XT are rumored to come with a 300 MHz higher base clock and 200 MHz higher boost clock than the Ryzen 9 3900X and Ryzen 7 3800X, respectively. The situation is reversed in the case of the Ryzen 5 3600 XT as the refreshed part allegedly ticks with a 200 MHz base clock and a 300 MHz higher boost clock (compared to the Ryzen 5 3600X). The tipster also claims that the XT versions will arrive with improved support for a higher Fabric Clock (FCLK). Ryzen 3000-series debuted with a maximum FCLK of 1,800 MHz, where the FCLK runs in-sync with the memory clock in a 1:1 ratio. The XT versions are rumored to do 2,000 MHz out of the box. AMD's exact reasoning behind refreshing an already successful product line are unknown. The first thing that comes to mind would be to fend off Intel's 10th Generation Comet Lake-S processors. Matisse already cemented itself as offering amazing value for your money, and the XT versions would likely keep the dream alive. Additionally, it's plausible that AMD could lower the pricing for the three vanilla chips after the XT variants are released. The Ryzen 4000-series (codename Vermeer) processors are slated to make their debut at the end of Q3 or early Q4. We can't discard the possibility that AMD has run into some setbacks with Zen 3, and that's the real reason why the chipmaker is rolling out a Zen 2 refresh. For now, we can only hope that the refresh isn't some type of stop-gap solution because of a Zen 3 delay.
  23. While at home, many people are consciously looking for ways to reconnect with themselves. While earlier they were busy with the daily humdrum of commute and work, now, with slightly more time to figure things out, they are looking at other kinds of activities involving well-being — mental and physical. Caring for the skin and figuring out ways with which to give it a healthy boost has become a part of everyday life. With summers here, and skincare having become a must, here is an interesting DIY face pack for you to try at home, if you are bored with the same old routine. This one involves the dragon fruit. Remember that this exotic fruit is believed to be great for the health, too. It is also known as ‘pitahaya’ or strawberry pear. This tropical fruit is liked for its bright skin and a pulp that is dotted with black seeds. Sometimes, it is also referred to as cactus fruit, dragon pearl fruit and pitaya. It is said that the fruit belongs to the cactus family, given that it has a spiky exterior. Native to southeast Asia, it grows in parts of the Caribbean and Hawaii today. It is also said that the dragon fruit keeps the skin healthy and youthful. As such, here is a face pack involving the fruit that is believed to keep the skin youthful and wrinkle-free. To make this pack, you will need some yogurt and of course, the fruit — one tablespoon and half cut fruit, respectively. Begin by clearing the pulp out and making a smooth paste out of it. To this paste, you must then add the yogurt. Mix the two properly so that it becomes a consistent paste. Now apply it on the face, and do not forget to cover the neck region. Leave it on for 20 minutes and allow it to dry before you wash it off with water. Wearing this pack at least once every week, will show visible difference in a month’s time. Alternatively, you can also make a face pack with a vitamin E capsule and the fruit. It is said that since the fruit is anti-microbial, it blocks the formation of excessive sebum on the skin. So, there is no sudden breakout of pimples. To make this pack, add the capsule to the pulp of the fruit and apply on the face. Let it stay for half an hour and then wash off. Do this every day to reduce aging spots and improve the texture and tightness of the skin.
