Peugeot will bring its new 408 to the Paris Motor Show in October, giving the public a first opportunity to see it in the metal. The 408 arrives as a “dynamic fastback” to sit between the 508 large family hatch and the mid-size 3008 SUV. Similar to the Polestar 2’s bodystyle, the 408 is a raised-up five-door with a large hatchback tailgate, Peugeot says the 408 puts a focus on practicality and style, and is the first car of its kind on the market. Much of the 408’s styling is new ground for Peugeot, although there are clear nods to the latest 308. The underpinnings are shared with the 308 so in terms of powertrains there’ll be plenty of crossover. The 408 sits on the latest evolution of Peugeot’s EMP2 platform and will be powered by a single pure-petrol engine as well as plug-in hybrid powertrains from its launch in early 2023. The brand has also confirmed a fully electric variant – likely to be called the e-408 – will follow “a few months later.” The only non-electrified version will be the entry-level 128bhp 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo petrol unit – and even this will be replaced by a mild-hybrid variant at the end of 2023, the firm says. The pair of plug-in powertrains consists of Peugeot’s 178bhp Hybrid 180 and the 222bhp Hybrid 225. Both variants use the same 1.6-litre four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine mated to an electric motor that’s fed by a 12.4kWh battery, which will take one hour and 55 minutes to charge from a 7kW wallbox. The 308, and 508 and 3008 PHEVs that use the same plug-in hybrid system can cover up to 37 and 39 miles respectively, so similar figures for the 408 seem likely. All engines are mated exclusively to an eight-speed automatic gearbox, so expect the 1.2 petrol to accelerate from 0-62mph in around 10 seconds. The electric assistance from the plug-in hybrids means they’ll both be quicker despite carrying extra weight, so the Hybrid 225 could dip below 8.5 seconds for the same benchmark sprint. The fastest version will undoubtedly be the e-408, however. Power will come from a 54kWh battery, which is slightly bigger than the unit you’ll find in the Peugeot e-2008 and e-208, but features a new chemical composition to improve range and efficiency. Peugeot claims the e-308 will be able to recharge 20-80 per cent in less than 25 minutes with a 100kW charging capacity, so we’ll expect the same for the e-408. A 248-mile range for the e-308 has also been claimed, but with the more upright, less-aerodynamic stance of the e-408, it’ll probably not match the e-308 on that measure. Project Design Director Pierre-Paul Mattei told us that the 408’s design and positioning is the key to this new model, however. “The new 408 started a few years ago with the objective of reinventing the saloon. The driving position is dynamic – higher than a saloon but not even as high as a coupe-SUV. It’s for people looking for something new. It’s a very dynamic saloon with the feeling of modern Peugeot DNA. “Nothing is neutral on this car,” he said. “Everything is doing something. The design treatment is different to what we’ve been used to at Peugeot. It’s sharper, a diamond-faceted design. It’s disruptive. Take the [optional] 20-inch wheels, we tried to integrate the square pattern into a circle.” At 4.69 metres long with a 2.79m wheelbase, the 408 is relatively long, and at 1.48m tall the feel is more of a raised-up saloon than a coupe-SUV. Compared with the intricate grille, in profile the 408’s lines are relatively simple, defined by smooth surfaces intersected by sharp creases and a more rounded shoulder line. The rear-end design is as elaborate as the front, with the lower plastic part of the bumper creating an “inverted cut-out” as part of the high-set, chopped-off tail with the aim of reducing its visual mass and reinforcing the 408’s raised stance. The car will come in six body colours, including this new Obsession Blue. Despite the 408’s sleek profile, which also helps reduce drag to 0.28Cd, there’s been a significant focus on practicality, as Mattei told us. “Roominess was really a challenge with this car, it offers the most kneeroom in the rear of all the Peugeot range, at 188mm. It’s a worldwide car that integrates expectations for spaciousness from the Chinese market.” Incorporating those requirements should be beneficial for European customers too, and sitting in the car at the 408’s unveiling we found there to be a good level of space. Despite the low roofline Peugeot claims plenty of headroom too, with little relief areas in the roof at the rear to boost space. When it comes to luggage room, the ICE version offers 536 litres with the rear seats in place rising to 1,611 litres with the backrests folded down, while the PHEV models serve up 471 litres with the rear seats up due to the battery eating into space. The dash design is the same as the 308 hatchback’s, so the 408 also boasts Peugeot’s evolution of its i-Cockpit interior layout, including the centrally mounted 10-inch i-Connect Advanced infotainment system with the brand’s latest touch-sensitive i-Toggles mounted lower down. Alongside this latest infotainment set-up, which features over-the-air update capability and Peugeot’s voice recognition tech, the 408 will also be available with plenty of advanced kit, such as a 10-speaker Focal stereo, matrix LED headlights, the ability to connect two smartphones through the latest connectivity packages, four USB ports and wireless charging. A powered tailgate with a foot-activated sensor and heated seats will also be available, plus Peugeot’s latest semi-autonomous driving tech. The brand’s Drive Assist 2.0 package brings semi-automatic lane changing, while adaptive cruise control with lane follow and lane keep assist also feature. There’s a night vision system, as well as cross traffic alert and long-range blind spot monitoring all on offer, while Peugeot has developed thicker, laminated windows, available as an option, to further improve refinement. The 408 will be available in Allure and GT trim levels. Pricing hasn’t yet been outlined, but the new car could start from around £30,000 when it goes on sale towards the end of the year.

On the eve of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral on Monday, world leaders gathered for what is being termed the ‘reception of the century’ at Buckingham Palace on Sunday evening. Hosted by King Charles III, around 500 people including presidents, prime ministers, and royals from around the globe came together to remember Britain’s longest-reigning monarch. Prince William and Kate Middleton – the Prince and Princess of Wales, Prince Edward and Sophie – the Earl and Countess of Wessex, Anne – Princess Royal and other working members of the royal family accompanied King Charles and Queen Consort Camilla in greeting with guests. However, what caught everyone’s attention was the absence of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Reportedly, the couple received an invitation to the event earlier this week but were not likely to attend as the palace officials said that it was for working members of the royal family only. “It remained unclear on Friday night why they had received an invitation for an occasion that Royal aides insisted they were not expected to attend. Sources close to them appeared baffled, while palace aides continued to insist that they were not invited and were not expected to show up,” telegraph.co.uk noted. Prior to this, Prince Harry was denied the right to wear the military uniform during a service for Queen. However, it was reversed after the King gave him special permission to wear the uniform during the grandchildren’s vigil of the Queen’s coffin on Saturday evening. In February 2021, Harry and Meghan stepped away from their royal duties and since then, aren’t the working members of the Royal Family. “While all are saddened by their decision, The Duke and Duchess remain much-loved members of the family,” Buckingham Palace had said back then. Thirteen people have been killed and others wounded in a series of explosions in the separatist-run city of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine, according to its Russian-backed mayor. Alexei Kulemzin blamed "punitive" Ukrainian shellfire for the deaths. There is no comment from Ukrainian officials. Donetsk has been controlled by Russia's proxy authorities since 2014. They have repeatedly accused Ukrainian forces of targeting the city. Independent confirmation is hard to come by on the ground in separatist-held areas of the east. However, local authorities said nine 150mm shells were fired at the Kuibyshevsky district of Donetsk, from a village to the west of the city. Local leader Denis Pushilin accused Ukraine of deliberately targeting civilians at a bus-stop, a shop and a bank. Although Russian forces have seized areas of the Donetsk region further south since the invasion began in February, they have struggled to push the Ukrainian army back from the outskirts of the city itself. Ukrainian forces have launched counter-offensives in the south as well as the north-east, and their most dramatic progress has come this month in the northern Kharkiv region. The head of Luhansk region, Serhiy Haidai, shared video of a Ukrainian tank crossing a pontoon bridge, and said Ukraine now controlled the left bank of the Oskil river, seen as the front line in north-east Ukraine. If Ukrainian forces are able to maintain a foothold on the eastern side of the Oskil, it will represent a breakthrough. Mr Haidai said the next target would be liberating the city of Lyman, which was seized by Russian forces in May. "Luhansk region is right next door. De-occupation is not far away," he claimed. In his nightly address late on Sunday, President Volodymyr Zelensky said that recent days may have looked like a lull of sorts: "But there will be no lull. There is preparation for the next series... For Ukraine must be free. All of it." Russia was accused on Monday of targeting a nuclear plant in the south. Ukrainian nuclear operator Enerhoatom said a rocket landed 300m (1,000ft) from nuclear reactors at the the country's second largest plant in Mykolayiv region, damaging buildings and shutting down part of a hydro-electric power station at the complex. The attack has not been independently confirmed, although footage was posted online by the Ukrainian military. Ukraine's - and Europe's - biggest nuclear plant at Zaporizhzhia has come under repeated fire since it was occupied by Russian forces at the start of the war and the UN has called for a safety zone to protect it. Meanwhile, the Kremlin has denied allegations of war crimes after some 450 bodies were uncovered in burial sites in the liberated city of Izyum. The discovery has prompted the European Union's presidency, currently held by the Czech Republic, to call for an international tribunal into Russia's invasion. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the revelations were "a lie, and of course we will defend the truth in this story". He said the "scenario" was the same as in the town of Bucha near Kyiv, where local authorities say at least 458 civilians were murdered during Russia's occupation. President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Ukrainian counter-offensives would not change Russia's military plans in the east of Ukraine. The ministry of defence in Moscow posted video on Monday that it said showed attack helicopters destroying Ukrainian manpower and equipment. However, according to the UK's defence intelligence update, it was "highly likely" that Russia had lost four combat jets in Ukraine in the past 10 days as its air force took greater risks to support ground forces under pressure from the Ukrainian advances. The Institute for the Study of War says Russia is relying increasingly on "irregular volunteer and proxy forces" instead of its conventional military units. Russia says it is fighting neo-Nazis in Ukraine - a claim widely dismissed - and that it is threatened by the Nato alliance's strong relations with Ukraine. Since the invasion on 24 February, the UN has recorded at least 5,718 civilian deaths, with 8,199 injured, and more than seven million Ukrainians have been recorded as refugees across Europe. The actual civilian death toll is believed to be thousands higher. Tens of thousands of combatants have been killed or injured. Russia, a global energy supplier, is locked in an economic struggle with the West which imposed sweeping sanctions in response to the invasion. Source.

An American tourist was killed in a shark attack Tuesday in the Bahamas. The woman was snorkeling with a group of five to seven relatives when a bull shark attacked her shortly after 2 p.m. at Green Cay, Royal Bahamas Police Superintendent Chrislyn Skippings said at a news conference. The area is about a half-mile northwest of Rose Island, a private island off Nassau. While authorities have not released the victim's name, the woman's employer identified her as Caroline DiPlacido. The employer, Gannon University, said she was vacationing with her family in the Bahamas at the time of the attack. "Caroline was a powerful presence of kindness and friendship to colleagues, students, and the wider community and cherished many family ties to Gannon," the school's chaplain said in a message to the university, where DiPlacido was a project coordinator for the Erie campus’ office of community and government relations. "The news is devastating, and she will be missed." The woman, who officials said was 58, had no vital signs after the attack, Skippings said. She arrived in the Bahamas on a cruise ship Tuesday morning, Skippings said. A private tour boat took her group snorkeling off Rose Island. Family members witnessed the attack. Along with a tour operator, they pulled her from the water and took her by boat to Fort Montagu on Nassau, Skippings said. The area was cordoned off and closed indefinitely to snorkelers. "It's just an unfortunate situation," Skippings said. According to the Florida Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida, the last recorded shark attack in the Bahamas was in 2018. It says bull sharks are among the most common when it comes to unprovoked attacks on humans. They are large, capable of inflicting serious injuries, commonly found in areas where humans enter the water, and have teeth designed to shear rather than hold, the museum says in a primer on species. Such is the pace of development in the compact SUV world that we’re never far away from a fresh debut – and the next car to take aim at the top of its class will be the second-generation Hyundai Kona. Auto Express understands that the compact SUV will break cover early next year, and development prototypes are already being tested around the world. As with sister brand Kia’s Niro family, it’s likely that the upcoming Kona will move to the Hyundai Motor Group’s latest K3 platform, and deliver greater practicality. Full-hybrid and all-electric models are expected to be offered, with the Kona HEV set to use a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a 1.32kWh battery that supplies an electric motor. Combined, these should produce 139bhp. Hyundai doesn’t currently offer a plug-in powertrain in its Kona, and this will probably be the case with the new car. However, it will continue with the full-electric version. The Kona Electric should get a slight increase in battery capacity compared with the current car, up from 64kWh to 64.8kWh, feeding a 201bhp motor on the front axle. Aero and efficiency tweaks could boost its range to just beyond 300 miles. Alongside the firm’s Bayon crossover and larger Tucson SUV, there’s room for the Kona to grow. The new car will offer an increase in cabin space and practicality, with luggage capacity increasing from 332 litres to more than 400 litres in the hybrid model. The Kona will also take on a distinctive new design. Our exclusive image shows what this might look like, with a full-width LED running light bar sitting just beneath the bonnet shut line. Hyundai’s parametric pixel lights will also feature at the extremes of the bumper, evolving the split-headlight design used on the original model. The Kona will get an equally significant makeover inside, too. It’ll draw on many elements first seen on the firm’s Ioniq 5 EV, such as a rotary gear selector mounted on the steering column cowl. The digital dash and infotainment panel should also reflect that car’s layout, with the potential for two 10.25-inch displays to sit on top of the fascia. Early spy shots show that there’ll still be physical shortcut keys for the system’s main functions, however. The original Kona was unveiled in 2017, and a similar life cycle would take the new car towards the end of the decade. It’s at this point when the nameplate may disappear, as previously outlined by the firm’s Executive Vice President of Product Strategy, Thomas Schemera. He’s previously commented that a replacement for the Kona could wear an Ioniq badge in time – potentially as a 3 or 4 – underpinned by the firm’s all-electric E-GMP platform. Source.

“The Phantom of the Opera” — Broadway’s longest-running show — is scheduled to close in February 2023, the biggest victim yet of the post-pandemic softening in theater attendance in New York. The musical — a fixture on Broadway since 1988, weathering recessions, war and cultural shifts — will play its final performance on Broadway on Feb. 18, a spokesperson told The Associated Press on Friday. The closing will come less than a month after its 35th anniversary. It will conclude with an eye-popping 13,925 performances. It is a costly musical to sustain, with elaborate sets and costumes as well as a large cast and orchestra. Box office grosses have fluctuated since the show reopened after the pandemic — going as high as over $1 million a week but also dropping to around $850,000. Last week, it hit $867,997 and producers may have seen the writing on the wall. Based on a novel by Gaston Leroux, “Phantom” tells the story of a deformed composer who haunts the Paris Opera House and falls madly in love with an innocent young soprano, Christine. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s lavish songs include “Masquerade,” “Angel of Music,” “All I Ask of You” and “The Music of the Night.” “As a producer you dream that a show will run forever. Indeed, my production of Andrew’s ‘Cats’ proudly declared for decades ‘Now and Forever.’ Yet ‘Phantom’ has surpassed that show’s extraordinary Broadway run. But all shows do finally close,” producer Cameron Mackintosh said in a statement. The first production opened in London in 1986 and since then the show has been seen by more than 145 million people in 183 cities and performed in 17 languages over 70,000 performances. On Broadway alone, the musical has played more than 13,500 performances to 19 million people at The Majestic Theatre. The closing of “Phantom” would mean the longest running show crown would go to “Chicago,” which started in 1996. “The Lion King” is next, having begun performances in 1997. Broadway took a pounding during the pandemic, with all theaters closed for more than 18 months. Some of the most po[CENSORED]r shows — “Hamilton,” “The Lion King” and “Wicked” — have rebounded well, but other shows have struggled. Breaking even usually requires a steady stream of tourists, especially for “Phantom” and visitors to the city haven’t returned to pre-pandemic levels. Source.

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is no longer expected to attend the Queen's funeral, a UK Foreign Office source says. The source, quoted by Reuters, said the change was made by the Saudis. Human rights groups had criticised the decision to invite the Crown Prince, who is Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler. The prince, known as "MBS", has been accused by Western intelligence of ordering the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in 2018. He denies the accusation. But he has been seen as something of a pariah in the West and has not been to Britain since the murder inside the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul, BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner says. Sources close to the Saudi Embassy earlier confirmed that the Crown Prince would be visiting London this weekend. But Prince Turki al-Faisal, another senior Saudi royal, is expected to attend the funeral instead, the Foreign Office source said. Human rights groups said the invitation to Mohammed Bin Salman represented the whitewashing of an appalling Saudi human rights record. An invitation to China also caused controversy, because of Beijing's treatment of Muslim Uyghurs in Xinjiang. China has confirmed that it is sending its Vice-President, Wang Qishan, to the funeral. Liz Truss will meet a number of world leaders ahead of the Queen's funeral on Monday, including President Joe Biden. The prime minister will hold informal talks with the US leader - and the leaders of Canada, Poland and Ireland - on Sunday. She will meet her Australian and New Zealand counterparts on Saturday. Monday's funeral will be one of the biggest diplomatic events of recent years, with some 500 heads of state and foreign dignitaries expected to attend. It will provide Ms Truss with an opportunity to meet foreign counterparts less than two weeks after taking office. Downing Street added that further meetings to take place over the weekend could be fixed later on Friday. Although she met Mr Biden when she was foreign secretary, this weekend's meeting with him will be Ms Truss's first as UK prime minister. No 10 said the meeting would take place in Downing Street on Sunday, along with meetings with Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Micheál Martin, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau, and Polish President Andrzej Duda. Before this, Ms Truss will also meet Australian PM Anthony Albanese and New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern on Saturday at Chevening, the foreign secretary's official country retreat in Kent. Ms Truss will also attend the UN General Assembly in New York next week, where further meetings with global leaders are expected. Downing Street said the talks this weekend would not be formal bilateral meetings because of the official 10-day mourning period, meaning there would be no media access. The media will not receive summaries of the discussions as would normally happen after the PM's meetings with foreign leaders, No 10 added. The meeting with Mr Martin comes at a time of strained relations with the EU over post-Brexit checks in Northern Ireland. The UK is refusing to apply some of the checks it signed up to in the Brexit withdrawal deal, prompting a series of lawsuits from the EU. Mr Martin has expressed concern about legislation Ms Truss introduced as foreign secretary enabling the UK to alter the legal commitments it signed up in the exit treaty in 2019. Ms Truss is expected to meet European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen for talks at the UN meeting in New York next week. Funeral guest list The state funeral service in Westminster Abbey on Monday is expected to be attended by hundreds of foreign dignitaries, including politicians and royalty. Syria, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Myanmar, Russia and Belarus have not been invited - whilst Iran, North Korea and Nicaragua have been asked to only send a senior diplomat. A high-ranking official from China had been expected to attend, but a Chinese foreign ministry spokeswoman said earlier no decision had been made. It comes after a delegation of Chinese officials was barred from attending the lying-in-state of the Queen in Westminster Hall. According to parliamentary sources, Commons Speaker Sir Lindsay Hoyle refused a request for access over Chinese sanctions against five MPs and two peers. Sir Lindsay told the BBC: "It's better I don't comment because everything has security implications. It would be wrong of me to do so." Source.

The new Mustang will receive a more powerful ‘Dark Horse’ variant and this is what it’ll look like when it reaches showrooms next year. Ford has given the Dark Horse a more aggressive exterior which provides a hint towards the more powerful V8 engine under the bonnet. Ford says the Mustang Dark Horse is the “most exhilarating and fun-to-drive Mustang ever”. Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company, also spoke on the Dark Horse variant, saying it’s “a track-capable Mustang that puts a new level of performance, styling and American engineering in the hands of everyday customers who still want the thrill and excitement of a V8 sports car.” The V8 is the same naturally-aspirated Coyote unit found in the regular Mustang, although Ford claims it delivers 500bhp (power figures for the regular car haven’t been revealed yet). To help achieve the extra power, the engine features tuned piston connecting rods, dual throttle-body intake designs, a lighter radiator and more powerful cooling fans. Performance tweaks aren’t limited to the engine, however, with Brembo brakes taken from the Ford Performance package included as standard (cooled by extra NACA ducts) and a strut tower brace and K-brace to tighten the steering response. Like the standard Mustang, the Dark Horse receives MagneRide shocks and Pirelli P-Zero tyres. A choice of gearboxes are available for the Dark Horse model: a six-speed manual transmission utilising a unique oil cooler, or a ten-speed automatic transmission which can be operated by the column-mounted paddle shifters. There are plenty of exterior differences to mark out the regular Mustang from this track-focused model. The LED headlights are darkened and the grille has a gloss black finish with trapezoidal shaped ‘nostrils’ either side. There’s also a larger lip spoiler at the front, along with lower side skirts and optional carbon-fibre wheels. A fixed rear wing, more aggressive diffuser and darker quad-exhaust tips complete the dramatic look. Inside we see the same technological overhaul as the regular Mustang with a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch central screen. The steering wheel is a thicker, flat-bottom steering wheel covered in suede and stitched in blue. There’s also blue stitching on the door panels, seats, gear shift gaiter and centre console. There are even more performance-focused versions of the Mustang on their way in the shape of the Dark Horse S and Dark Horse R. Ford says the S is designed for track day enthusiasts while the R is a specially-developed racing car. Source.

Some new mothers worry that their bellies may become “loose and flabby after delivery”. While slow and gradual recovery through diet and nutrition is recommended, some core strengthening exercises can also help burn belly fat, especially around the tummy. As such, actor and nutritionist Bhagyashree Dassani took to Instagram to share some effective exercises that can help if done on a daily basis. “New mothers are worried that their belly will become loose and flabby after delivery. But core strength is important for most of our daily activities too,” she captioned her post. How can one reduce belly fat? According to the actor, reduction of fat happens mainly by eating correctly and making sure that your gut is working optimally. Combining diet and fitness can help one optimally reach their target. She also demonstrated a few simple exercises to build core strength as well as target fat burn around the tummy. Mountain climbers Get into the plank position with the weight distributed evenly between your hands and your toes. Check your form—your hands should be about shoulder-width apart, back flat, abs engaged, and head in alignment. Pull your right knee into your chest. Switch legs, pulling one knee out and bringing the other knee in. Keep the hips down and run your knees in and out as far and as fast as you can. Bosu ball knee tucks Press your feet down into the stability ball. Use your abs to hold as you bend your knees and tuck . Leg extensions or lifts on the bosu ball Press your feet into the bosu or stability ball. Use your arms to hold as your lift each of the legs from the bosu ball alternatively. How many times? Beginners can do three sets of 20 reps of mountain climbers, graduating to knee tucks on the bosuball and then to the leg extensions (lifts). Why do them? “These exercises will help to regain and consolidate core strength,” she said. Source.

The Queen's grandchildren, including the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Sussex, will stand vigil around her coffin this evening as she lies in state in Westminster Hall. At King Charles' request, Prince Harry will wear military uniform, for the first time since 2020. Prince Harry has worn civilian clothes at public events since the Queen died. On Friday evening, the Queen's children, including the King, stood guard for about 10 minutes. As they left the hall, members of the public applauded them. The grandchildren's vigil is expected to last around 15 minutes. The King's two sons will be joined by Peter Phillips, Zara Tindall, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, Lady Louise Windsor, and James, Viscount Severn. Prince Harry has not been seen in military uniform since stepping back as a working royal in 2020. He served two tours in Afghanistan as part of the Army. He now lives in California with his wife Meghan and their two children. Prince Andrew was also allowed to wear his military uniform as he stood guard on Friday. The 62-year-old stepped down as a working royal in 2019, after a Newsnight interview about his relationship with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. The prince was later stripped of his military titles. Before the vigil, the Queen's youngest child, Prince Edward, thanked the public for their support. "We have been overwhelmed by the tide of emotion that has engulfed us and the sheer number of people who have gone out of their way to express their own love, admiration and respect to such a very special and unique person who was always there for us," he said. "And now, we are there for her, united in grief." The Queen will lie in state at Westminster Hall until her funeral on Monday. The queue to see the coffin stretches as far as Southwark Park. Officials have said if the park reaches capacity, entry will be paused. At the park, there is a queue for wristbands and to join the queue proper. Further along, an LED-display warns people of how long they should expect to wait. Many are anticipating a long stay, wearing parkas, hats and big jumpers. At 14:00 BST on Saturday, the government website said the waiting time was now up to 16.5 hours. Foreign dignitaries are travelling to London ahead of Monday's funeral, which will be one of the biggest diplomatic events of recent years, with some 500 heads of state and other dignitaries expected to attend. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese laid flowers in Green Park, central London, before meeting King Charles at Buckingham Palace on Saturday. Mr Albanese said it was a "great honour" to represent Australia and commemorate "a life well-lived". Meanwhile, King Charles is back in London, having completed a tour of UK's four nations. On Saturday the King met the heads of the armed forces at Buckingham Palace and visited the Metropolitan Police's headquarters, New Scotland Yard. He then went to Lambeth Bridge, alongside Prince William, to shake hands and greet those queuing for the lying-in-state. He is meeting world leaders this afternoon. A senior Metropolitan Police officer described the Queen's funeral as "the largest single policing event [the force] has ever undertaken". Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy said the "hugely complex" operation surpasses the London 2012 Olympics - which saw up to 10,000 police officers on duty each day. Events, moments of reflection and public screenings of the funeral are also taking place across the UK this weekend, outside London. In Blackpool, the tower illuminations - which were changed to red, white and blue for the period of mourning - will be switched off at 20:00 on Sunday, when a national one-minute silence will take place.
