Intel's Chief Architect Raja Koduri has posted what appears to be the upcoming Xe HPG GPU from Intel. Raja is well known for dropping cryptic hints - some of which are deciphered almost instantly while some take months. Videocardz did a CSI enhance-enhance analysis on the image posted and sharpened up quite a few visuals for us as well as correctly noting that the benchmark was running a test that could only have been run on the HPG GPU. Intel Xe HPG GPU spotted in Intel's Labs I am talking of course about the DXR or raytraced 3D Test. The Intel Xe HPG GPU will feature a ton of new features including hardware-based ray tracing. This is the tweet that Raja posted and as you can see (if you enhance-enhance in enough), the 3DMark screen shows the DXR test on the extreme right side of the window - implying this is either the Xe HPG (aka DG2) GPU. From 2012 to 2021 - same Intel Folsom lab, many of the same engineers with more grey hair , I was at Apple back then, getting hands on with pre-production crystalwell, 9 years later playing with a GPU that’s >20x faster! pic.twitter.com/RgmRJuhOXw — Raja Koduri (@Rajaontheedge) March 12, 2021 Here is a zoomed-in version of the actual GPU running with what appears to be a CPU cooler and a heatsink: The GPU in question is on a test-board that features a high flow CPU-style cooler and heatsink. If Raja is teasing the GPU then we are likely looking at on-shelve availability in a few months. It took the DG1 roughly 6 months from going from the final prototype testing to being officially announced and if the same holds, we might see Xe HPG in some form before the year is over. Rumor: Intel Xe HPG GPU could get 960EUs with GDDR6 memory in 2021 According to a tweet by twitter user Raichu (which has still been deleted), Intel's Xe HPG could have 960 EUs instead of the expected 512 EUs for the top-end model. This will increase the expected core count from 4096 to 7680 and also significantly increase the card's expected TFLOP rating if true.According to the leaker, Intel is currently evaluating a SKU with 960 EUs. Intel has previously confirmed that Xe HPG will have just one tile and the biggest tile we have seen had 512 EUs so that was the theoretical maximum that the company implied. If this rumor turns out to be true then it might be that Intel is deciding to change that decision and go with binned versions of a 2 tile concept (430 EUs each - which would indicate a binned die from Xe HP). This would obviously help them remain more relevant and competitive against offerings from NVIDIA and AMD. Intel's Xe HPG lineup is slated to arrive sometime in 2021 according to known twitter leaker @Mebiuw and the GPU is expected to have either 6GB or 8GB of GDDR6 for the first launch. At any rate, it is clear that for their first entry into the gaming segments, intel is going for a mainstream approach instead of an Ampere/Navi-slayer and would likely be targetting the price/perf sweet spot. Intel has the financial resources to subsidize their GPUs greatly and sell them to gamers cheap to establish market share and Xe HPG should be the perfect tool to do that. Additional background on Intel's Xe HPG While Xe HP and HPC utilize HBM memory, Intel wants its HPG branding to be more budget-friendly since its targetted dead center at gamers. This is why the architecture is equipped with GDDR6 memory. Now while the company was very tight-lipped about the architecture they did confirm that the GPU will feature hardware dedicated ray-tracing support and will be coming sometime in 2021. Probably the biggest reveal was the fact the graphics card will be made on an external process (likely TSMC) which would mean that it will not be tied down by any foundry delays that Intel may face. [opinion] Since its coming in 2021, I would guess that TSMC's 7nm or 6nm process would start to be freed up by then with AMD etc transitioning to 5nm and that would become the most feasible process for this GPU. [/opinion] In an attempt to get further details about Xe HPG, I asked Raja Koduri whether the GPU would be MCM based or single tile and while he did not answer the question directly, he told me to refer to the packaging details shown in their GPU cadence slides. See multi-tile GPUs like Xe HP require special EMIB and Co EMIB packaging and Xe HPG is listed as having a "Standard" package. This confirms that the GPU is going to ship with 1 tile of Xe HPG. The scalability arch in the Xe HPG philosophy also indicates that the first GPU is a trial run for the company and if it works well, scaling it upwards should be trivial. Although the first Xe HPG GPU is starting with a single tile, if the response is good, then the company can easily scale to more tiles and exponentially increase the performance of their GPUs. What's more, Intel is working on a unified driver stack (for example the drivers for Tiger Lake's Xe GPU already work with DG1).

In a livestreamed conversation between Xbox and Bethesda executives today about their newfound partnership, Bethesda Game Studios director Todd Howard was blunt about the state of Fallout 76 when it came out in 2018. "When that game launched, the litany of issues we had, and we let a lot of people down, and, well, there was very little we didn't screw up honestly," Howard said, talking about the launch of the troubled multiplayer RPG. Fallout 76 was rife with technical problems and performed poorly at launch. It was also missing a lot of what we liked in Bethesda's Fallout games, like NPCs that made the world feel lived-in. To Howard, though, that service-game stumble should be easier to avoid now that Bethesda is under the protective, platform-sized wings of Xbox. Howard was hopeful that the acquisition by Microsoft will help Bethesda's games be better-tested at launch, and that access to the Game Pass ecosystem will enable things like public betas much more easily. Howard went as far as to imply that being available on Game Pass at launch would have made Fallout 76's first months much easier. Howard has previously stated that he regrets not having a free beta for Fallout 76. He also said that as a business model, Game Pass makes more viable certain kinds of games that a studio like Bethesda might have hesitated to develop in the past. Fallout 76 came to Game Pass in July 2020.He tied the story of Fallout 76's launch to Bethesda's ongoing relationship with Microsoft, saying that at the time he had called Phil Spencer, the head of the Xbox brand. Spencer put Howard in touch with people at Xbox who were able to aggregate data about similar games to help Bethesda focus on solving its most pressing issues. Interestingly, Howard rounded off his comments by noting that Fallout 76 is now "one of the most-played games on Xbox." It's not the first time Howard and Bethesda have been very direct about the issues surrounding Fallout 76, even apologizing just a few days after launch. Howard has previously noted that the game had a lot of difficulties during development and that Bethesda was aware of issues and ready for the rough launch. Bethesda's history of launch issues also extends to famous moments like Skyrim Special Edition's patch to fix a patch—the studio's sprawling games' have an understandable reputation for bugs. Perhaps Bethesda will shake that piece of its reputation as its integration with Xbox progresses. Jon Bolding is a games writer and critic with an extensive background in strategy games. When he's not on his PC, he can be found playing every tabletop game under the sun.

Organizers of the North American International Auto Show in Detroit filed a lawsuit Thursday against suing its insurance company for $2.4 million. NAIAS LLC, the holding company for the auto show organized by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association, filed the suit in U.S. District Court alleging a breach of contract and bad faith from the insurance provider, Texas-based Houston Casualty Co., for not paying out its full coverage after the organizers canceled the June 2020 auto show due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Houston Casualty paid out $2.4 million in December 2020 then another $878,938 on Wednesday of the roughly $5.6 million policy, the auto show's lawyers said in the lawsuit obtained by Crain's. "In early 2020 when the pandemic hit, the NAIAS was canceled by a government mandate that the TCF Center, where the show is held annually, would be used for a field hospital for COVID-19 patients," Rod Alberts, executive director of the show, said in a statement. "For the health and safety of our community, it was the right call. Unfortunately, some of the coverages and assurances that we put in place have not been met and we had no choice but to pursue legal action." DADA announced the cancellation of the auto show on March 28 and the field hospital to handle COVID-19 overflow patients was reported a day later. Organizers allege the insurance company's denial of certain payouts is a material breach of contract and that "NAIAS has suffered damages and will continue to suffer damages as a direct result of (Houston Casulty's) material breaches of the ... event cancellation policy," the court filing states. The auto show paid a $14,483 premium on the policy, according to court records, presumably a monthly charge for an annual total of $173,796 plus fees. The show's organizers are facing financial stress due to pandemic after canceling the 2021 auto show. In January, Alberts told the governing board of TCF Center this year's show, originally planned for September, had to be canceled because of the financial risk of the virus upending another event like the June 2020 show that got canceled. For now, Alberts and team are planning for the return of the Detroit auto show for September 2022, 32 months after the last auto show was held in the city in January of 2019.

Many females experience hormonal fluctuation at some point in their lives. Hormonal imbalance strikes-in when the endocrine gland fails to function appropriately. It occurs owing to diabetes, stress, a sedentary lifestyle, lack of exercise, and improper eating habits. Hormonal imbalance causes PCOD, thyroid problems, and infertility. In order to keep the condition at bay, one must stick to a well-balanced diet, get some physical activity, and sleep well, say experts. Dr Kaishreen Khan, obstetrician and gynaecologist, Apollo Clinic Pune says, “Females in the middle-aged group — 20-50 years — encounter hormonal imbalance due to a sedentary lifestyle, mental stress, a high percentage of body fat or an over or underactive thyroid. The symptoms of hormonal imbalance are mood swings, poor sleep, low libido, weight gain, anxiety, tiredness, heavy and painful periods, irregular periods, delayed menses or early menses, excessive facial hair, acne, fatigue, and anxiety. Hormonal imbalance can also cause PCOD and infertility.” Hormones can be termed as messengers in one’s body. They tell you what to do and when. Hormones regulate one’s mood, body temperature, sleep, growth, appetite, stress, metabolism, and reproductive cycles. Hormonal imbalance in females can be seen during puberty, pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, and menopause. It indicates a fluctuation in one’s estrogen, progesterone, thyroxine, prolactin, and cortisol levels. Many factors give a tough time to the endocrine system causing fluctuation of the hormones. Dr Khan added that the treatment of hormonal imbalance depends on the underlying cause and “may vary from person-to-person”. “Your doctor will be able to determine the right kind of treatment for you. Along with treatment, you will also have to follow some lifestyle modifications such as getting sound sleep at night, exercising daily for half-an-hour, eating a well-balanced diet, and maintaining an optimum weight. Minimise the intake of sugary and packaged foods and schedule regular health check-ups,” she explained. “Opt for blood tests in order to check your overall all health — thyroid, estrogen, prolactin, testosterone, cortisol levels. A complete blood count (CBC) test is recommended to identify general infection, iron studies to look for iron deficiency or anaemia. Since the bone disease is common in women, calcium and vitamin D are recommended. Along with this cholesterol, glucose levels and liver check is also needed,” said Dr Prerna Agarwal, technical operations, Apollo Diagnostics. ALSO READ |Missed or irregular periods? Stress amid the pandemic could be causing it Regular screening of breast and cervical cancer is required to look for tumours, lumps, and cysts. Females should opt for PapSmear tests right from the age of 20, added Dr Agarwal. “Do PapSmear once a year for three consecutive years and if the sample is negative then do it after every three years till you are 65. It is also essential to do breast self-examination after every menses to spot any abnormalities in the breast as early diagnosis and treatment can reduce morbidity and mortality rates,” she said. Georgetown Law professor Sandra Sellers, who was captured on video discussing the performance of Black students, is no longer affiliated with the university, the law school dean said Thursday. Georgetown University Law students and alumni had called for the professor's firing after a video of two Georgetown Law professors discussing the performance of Black students in their class went viral. A petition demanding the school take action and terminate the professor collected more than 1,000 signatures. In the video, Sellers can be heard saying, “I end up having this angst every semester that a lot of my lower ones are Blacks, happens almost every semester." A second professor, David Baston, did not disagree or interject in the video. The conversation was filmed and posted to the online database Panopto, where students can access recordings. The video is no longer available on the platform. “We learned earlier this week that two members of our faculty engaged in a conversation that included reprehensible statements concerning the evaluation of Black students,” Georgetown Law Dean Bill Treanor said Wednesday in a letter to the university. In another memo Thursday, Treanor said, "I informed Professor Sellers that I was terminating her relationship with Georgetown Law effective immediately." Earlier in the week, Treanor said the university's diversity and equity office had opened an investigation into the matter. "Professor Batson has been placed on administrative leave pending the investigation by the Office of Diversity, Equity and Affirmative Action, the results of which will inform our next steps," Treanor wrote. Sellers provided NBC News with a copy of what she called her resignation letter, in which she apologized for the comments and said she was committed to better understanding issues of racism. "I would never do anything to intentionally hurt my students or Georgetown Law and wish I could take back my words," she said in the letter.

On March 9, 2021, Microsoft patched a zero-day security vulnerability related to memory corruption in its browser, Internet Explorer. Labeled CVE-2021-26411, this vulnerability allowed an attacker to deceive a user into visiting a uniquely crafted, malicious website hosted on Internet Explorer. Additionally, an attacker could compromise existing websites by posting malicious advertisements on webpages allowing user-hosted content. While the attacker would first have to use email or instant message to convince the user to engage with these advertisements and websites in order to compromise the victim, malicious actors from across potentially the entire Internet could take advantage of this exploit. Because the vulnerability existed on the network stack, this CVE qualified as remotely executable. Moreover, the attacker did not require any special escalated privileges to exploit the vulnerability. Once an attack proved successful, an attacker could potentially modify any accessed files and other user information, thus placing the user's content integrity at significant risk. Perhaps most interestingly, the hackers in this case spent weeks building trust specifically with security researches as their target. Since discovery, researchers have traced the attack back to North Korea. The attackers developed a working connection by contacting researchers via an original research blog and created Twitter personas to request collaboration on a project. The fake social media profiles would then prompt the researchers to visit a webpage. From there, even a fully patched Windows 10 machine would end up installing a malicious service and in-memory backdoor to communicate with an attacker-controlled server. Google has attributed the attack to the North Korean government, specifically a threat group called Zinc, linked to the better-known Lazarus. Related to the devastating 2017 ransomware campaign WannaCry, Lazarus has allegedly ranked in $2 billion for North Korea's weapons of mass destruction program. In addition to Internet Explorer, this vulnerability also impacted Edge, Microsoft's more secure browser. Furthermore, researchers eventually found that the attackers supplemented their watering-hole attack using malicious websites with a fraudulent Visual Studio Project evidently containing source code for a proof-of-concept exploit. This alleged project actually housed custom malware that contacted the hackers' control server. As of now, the vendor has released an official fix and upgrade for this vulnerability. Those Microsoft users who desire immediate updates can visit Start > Settings > Updates & Security > Windows Update on their system.

Retro-styled first-person shooters are definitely a thing right now, with stuff like Ion Fury and Dusk making way for droves of similar games. I'm not complaining. Nor am I complaining that the latest retro FPS to be announced, Dread Templar, has one of the most hilariously perfunctory settings you could dream up for a shooting game. "You are a Dread Templar who entered Hell seeking revenge," reads the trailer description. "But in order to get it, you have to fight your way through the dark realm!" Hell yeah! Just leave it at that, would you please? The game is developed by T19 Games, and used to be known as Hell Hunt, for which there is still a demo on Itch. Dread Templar is definitely a better name, though it does wend rather too closely into lore-bearing territory. What is a dread templar? Hopefully the game will waste no time explaining. As the trailer above demonstrates, the art style sits firmly in the Quake engine tradition, and in addition to the usual array of firepower you can also wield a katana. There are weapon skills to unlock, dashing and bullet time, so it definitely adds some flavour to the format, while staying very true to the atmosphere of the 1990s.The game will launch into Early Access this fall (spring in Australia) and is expected to launch into 1.0 in 2022. Here’s the Steam page if you want to keep an eye on it. In the meantime, if you’re craving a ye olde styled FPS you could check out Dusk, or Ion Fury, or Prodeus, or Amid Evil. Shaun is PC Gamer’s Australian editor and news writer. He mostly plays platformers and RPGs, and keeps a close eye on anything of particular interest to antipodean audiences. He (rather obsessively) tracks the movements of the Doom modding community, too.

Electric-car startup Lucid Motors Inc. has an undisclosed commitment to build an assembly plant in Saudi Arabia, a potentially costly promise the company made after accepting more than $1 billion in financing from the Saudi Public Investment Fund in 2018, according to people familiar with the matter. The plant promise represents a significant investment commitment for the startup, which hasn’t yet sold a car from its one existing factory in Arizona. It is also a potential boon for Saudi Arabia, which has struggled to lure Western companies to the country in the wake of the 2018 murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Last month, Lucid agreed to a special-purpose acquisition company merger, a deal that if consummated would allow it to trade publicly later this year. The merger agreement valued the Silicon Valley startup at some $24 billion.Lucid hasn’t discussed the Saudi car plant plans publicly, but at least one big institutional investor that has agreed to invest as part of the SPAC deal was told about them, according to people familiar with the discussion. A Lucid Motors spokesperson said it “expects to establish manufacturing facilities in multiple geographies, including Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and potentially Europe in the coming years.” The spokesperson said the company’s “near-term priority” is beginning production later this year at its Arizona facility. Spokespersons for Churchill Capital Corp. CCIV 0.98% IV, the SPAC that agreed to merge with Lucid, and PIF didn’t return requests for comment. Churchill Capital is run by former Citigroup Inc. investment banker Michael Klein. He has worked for years as a financier in the Middle East and advised Saudi Arabia on the 2019 local listing of Saudi Arabian Oil Co. , or Aramco. PIF, a Saudi Arabia sovereign-wealth fund, first agreed to invest more than $1 billion in Lucid in 2018. It has agreed to boost that investment through Lucid’s SPAC merger, and it recently provided the auto maker with $600 million in bridge financing to provide stability through the deal’s conclusion, Lucid Chief Executive Officer Peter Rawlinson told The Wall Street Journal last month. PIF will continue to be Lucid’s majority shareholder once it lists through its SPAC deal, the company has disclosed. Lucid, originally called Atieva, was founded as a battery-technology company in 2007 before pivoting to making its own cars. In 2013, it recruited Mr. Rawlinson, formerly of Tesla Inc., where he was chief engineer on the company’s first mass-produced Model S luxury sedan. Lucid hasn’t sold any cars, but it ranks among the most mature electric-vehicle startups in a race to one day compete with Tesla, according to analysts. The company plans to begin selling its first model, a luxury sedan called the Air, later this year. Lucid recently finished the first phase of a $700 million plant in Casa Grande, Ariz., which the company says is capable of making 34,000 cars annually. With expansion, the site is capable of increasing production up to 365,000 vehicles a year, the company has said. In a presentation to investors, Lucid said by 2030 it plans to produce upward of 500,000 vehicles annually. Lucid’s SPAC deal comes in the midst of a torrent of similar agreements between special-purpose acquisition companies, also known as blank-check companies, and startups looking to list their shares quickly. By merging with a SPAC, essentially a big pool of cash that is already listed on an exchange, companies can bypass the more typical initial public offering process. Some people familiar with the Saudi factory promise said such an investment could cost several hundred million dollars or more. Saudi Arabia has very little of the manufacturing footprint necessary for building cars, meaning many of the cars’ parts would likely need to be imported. That would potentially double the manufacturing costs at the plant, according to these people. Lucid executives have been pushing for more Saudi incentives to help cover the costs and make up for the inefficiencies that building the plant would create, these people said. Senior PIF executives are pushing the company to follow through on their 2018 commitment, these people said. PIF, under the direction of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, had taken to investing the country’s oil wealth internationally, aiming to make investments that could reduce the Saudi economy’s reliance on the petrochemical industry. Many of the fund’s bets explicitly sought to attract direct investment back into Saudi Arabia, in hopes of creating jobs for young Saudis in growth sectors such as tech and advanced manufacturing.

"The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation identified in its 2019 Global Burden of Disease report that the leading cause of disease and death is a result of what we are, and are not, eating," said ACLM Executive Director Susan Benigas. "Yet most physicians and medical professionals receive few hours of clinical nutrition education throughout their formal training. ACLM is committed to filling this void, supporting healthcare providers in their ability to prescribe food as medicine, empowering patients to make the evidence-based dietary lifestyle changes needed to protect health and fight disease, with health restoration as the clinical outcome goal." The limited nutrition education customarily offered in medical and health professional programs is often didactic and focused on the biochemistry of nutrients and health consequences of deficiency states—content that is of limited use in a clinical setting where the majority of the po[CENSORED]tion faces over-nutrition due to high intake of ultra-processed, calorie-dense, high saturated fat-laden foods. ACLM's "Food as Medicine" for medical professionals online course will educate and equip clinicians with knowledge of dietary patterns shown to prevent, treat, and reverse diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers as well as prepare them to implement food as medicine at a practical level in patient care. The course will also include nutrition considerations for various lifecycle stages and special po[CENSORED]tions, nutrition and scope of practice, and pharmaceutical implications in food as medicine practice. Specifically, this first installment of the course will: Review the current challenges in nutrition research and the challenges of disseminating accurate nutrition information to the public Explain national and global nutrition recommendations and basic nutrition principles Distinguish differences between health-promoting and health-harming foods Describe the dietary pattern recommended by the American College of Lifestyle Medicine for disease prevention, treatment and reversal Apply the concept of the dietary spectrum when making nutrition recommendations Apply nutrition therapy scope of practice Review the scientific evidence of po[CENSORED]r diets The course is targeted to a variety of clinicians with an interest in food as medicine: physicians, registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, registered dietitians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, other allied health professionals working with chronic disease prevention or treatment, certified health coaches and clinicians in training. "Since dietary choices have such a profound impact on health and chronic disease progression, all health care professionals should possess basic knowledge on utilizing food as medicine in patient care," said ACLM President Cate Collings, MD, MS, FACC, DipABLM. BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A number of Erie County legislators are asking for more transparency with how the county uses its COVID-19 emergency fund. “When the emergency fund was created, the Legislature unanimously agreed that we would need a full accounting of expenditures related to the COVID-19 pandemic. As the spread slows down and we head in the right direction, it’s time to take a closer look at the money that has gone out the door and how it was spent. Erie County taxpayers deserve transparency, especially when we’re expected to get another $178 million in federal funds in the coming days. Before that money is allocated we need details on how relief funds have been spent to date.” LEGISLATOR JOE LORIGO Legislators Joe Lorigo, Chris Greene, Frank Todaro and John Mills say Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, the county’s Budget Office and the Health Department were required to provide spending information to the Legislature after the emergency fund was set up. That information includes vendor payments, new jobs and other costs associated with Erie County’s response to the pandemic. “Now that the dust is beginning to settle, we need to see how the funds were spent throughout the past year,” Mills says. “I hope the Administration will understand the importance of providing this information and I look forward to reviewing it as soon as possible.” MORE | Read the legislators’ letter to Erie County Director of Budget and Management Robert Keating here. An early review of the Intel Core i7 10700k was posted by Andreas Schilling over at HardwareLuxx (via Videocardz) and is the second such publication after Anandtech's review. As always with early reviews keep in mind that unless the final bios with the release microcode ships, while these numbers will likely be very close to the final performance - there is still some room for potential improvement. Second Intel Rocket Lake Core i7 11700K leaks out With that said let's dive in. The Core i7 11700K tested is a retail part that was purchased by Hardwareluxx and combined with a Asus ROG Maximus XIII Hero Z590 motherboard and DDR4-6400 RAM. The chip tested was able to hit an overclock of 4.9 GHz - which is a pretty impressive overclock considering the maximum power draw recorded by Andreas was 195W. It's worth adding here that the reason why Anandtech numbers are so high is because they tested AVX512 loads, which is never used in typical day-to-day usage. In Hardwareluxx's testing, the 195W limit was also only sustained for a short time before it switched back to 125W. The Rocket Lake sample can be seen here with a turbo boost speed of 4.7 GHz on all cores with a vcore of 1.214v. RKL is based on Cypress Cove cores and is allegedly targetting an IPC increase of around 18%. It will also be the first platform to feature PCIe 4.0 and the first Jim Keller (the guy who designed Zen) part to hit the market from Intel. The Intel Core i7 11700K trades blows with the Ryzen 5800X, winning some and losing some while being one node behind - which is quite impressive. The AMD Ryzen 9 5950X however remains the performance king. That said, the latter is suffering from availability issues due to the bottleneck at TSMC and gamers can only really buy what is available. The 11700K scores significantly higher than the Core i7 9700K while being on the same node - which once again shows off the IPC gains Intel has managed to work in.Intel's 11700K actually beats out AMD's processors in Battlefield V - which is not surprising considering the historical performance of Intel processors in this title (and why you must look at a much larger bucket to get an idea of average gaming performance). Hardwareluxx's Andreas Schilling had the following to say about the processor: In Battlefield V, the Intel processors usually look quite good and this also applies to the Core i7-11700K. In Division 2, Metro: Exodus and Shadow of the Tomb Raider, the Ryzen processors still have the upper edge. […] The power consumption does not explode in the way it was feared – at least not with the Core i7-11700K. We’ll have to look at what this will look like with the Core i9-11900K. At the same time, the GPU temperatures, be it those of the package sensor or those of the individual cores, remain within the scope of what is a solvable task for a good cooler.

We've all been there. You've just dropped into a match of Apex Legends, only to find one of your squadmates has sprinted off on their lonesome, ready to solo every other team on the battlefield—leaving the other two at a disadvantage. Fortunately, Apex will soon let these lone wolves queue up without hindering a team, but be warned—this isn't exactly a proper solos mode. Chaos Theory, the game's next Collection Event, is adding a "No Fill" toggle, letting Apex know that you don't want your squad filled out with strangers. So yeah, play solo if you want. Just know that you'll still be pitting yourself against two- or three-person teams. Hey, maybe you're just that good. Respawn has toyed with temporary solo modes in the past, but isn't too keen on making in a permanent option. No-fill, then, is an attempt to compromise with the hotshots out there who want to test their luck while still retaining the game's team spirit. "We still strongly believe that, at its best, Apex Legends is a game about teamplay. But we’re launching this No-Fill matchmaking as an option for solo players because we think it gives a lot of creative opportunities for you to play the game your way." No-fill will be a permanent addition to the game, but Chaos Theory's other improvements are also quite spicy. A new takeover mode, Ring Fury, supplements the usual closing circle with with new "Ring Flares", regions of ring damage that will slowly grow over the course of a match. Expect these to only grow more intense as the event goes on—Respawn is using this mode to introduce new "escalation takeovers", which means these flares are only going to get hotter as the days go on. To help cool things down, Apex is also adding new Heat Shields. Deployed like Gibraltar's dome shield, these bubbles will protect you from ring damage temporarily, while also increasing healing and revive speeds while deployed in the ring. These will take up space in a new Survival slot in your inventory, letting you snatch up Heat Shields or Respawn Beacons without filling valuable backpack space. Caustic has also taken over a part of King's Canyon in the latest Town Takeover, replacing Water Treatment with Caustic Treatment—an evil lair full of toxic science goo that offers great loot for those willing to brave its fumes. Finally, the Collection Event comes with a slew of new cosmetics to collect, including a new Bangalore Heirloom knife. Chaos Theory begins next Tuesday, March 9 and runs until March 23A one-time dog sledder, pancake flipper, alien wrangler and indie darling, Nat now scours the internet looking for the hottest PC gaming news. Destined to become Scotland's first Battlemech pilot.

As the country hits the one-year mark of the arrival of COVID-19, auto insurance industry trends are beginning to show a return to the pre-pandemic baseline, which will further intensify the ongoing customer acquisition war. As consumers hunkered down under stay-at-home orders last spring, with their mobility limited and their bank accounts braced for financial uncertainties, they embarked on a flurry of auto insurance shopping activity. According to J.D. Power’s new real-time shopping tracker – Loyalty Indicator and Shopping Trends (LIST) – shopping activity surged as high as near 20% in the early part of the pandemic, as customers looked to cut expenses. What’s behind the slowdown? It’s likely a combination of factors that include consumers becoming more bullish about their financial outlook, coupled with customers awaiting indicators of “normal” after making policy changes last year. It’s an encouraging sign for an industry that has historically enjoyed high retention rates. But with customer shopping patterns stabilizing at the national level, acquisition battles will increasingly shift to the To that end, there continues to be a strong rise in overall shopping in select markets across the country. Looking at shopping activity by region confirms that the South and Southwest are becoming key battleground regions. This is an indication that consumer shopping activity is largely following po[CENSORED]tion migration trends southward, (with the exception of states like Michigan which experienced a spike due to a change in PIP laws last year), creating a new challenge for regional-based carriers particularly in the Northeast and Midwest. How each carrier is positioned across these key geographical markets may provide an indication of future movements across the property/casualty insurer leaderboard. Overall, during the last three months, GEICO has captured the most quote activity in 18 states, followed closely by market share leader State Farm (16), Progressive (7), and Allstate (3). However, when examining acquisition patterns within each state, a more complex story begins to emerge. Consider the battleground state of Texas, where market leadership is separated by less than two points among the top four auto insurance carriers. Based on shopping patterns over the last three months, Allstate has moved to the front of the pack, capturing nearly 28% of all quote volume during that period. Allstate has performed particularly well in select metro areas such as metro Dallas – Fort Worth area, where its share is even higher. Capturing the Lone Star State would be a key pick-up for Allstate given the state’s market size and growing po[CENSORED]tion trends. Moving further West and Southwest, there is what appears to be an impressive trend for GEICO. The East coast-based insurance giant is continuing to gain ground out West – namely in California, Arizona and Nevada. The gains that GEICO has made within the state of California have been significant, outpacing the nearest competitor by nearly 3% in quotes over the past 90 days. GEICO is also seeing gains in select Southeastern markets. Georgia, which has been a stronghold for State Farm in years past, sees GEICO experiencing outsized growth within the state. Over the last 90 days, GEICO has captured nearly a quarter of all quote volume in a state where State Farm controls nearly one-third of total auto premiums. Lastly, an examination of Progressive’s performance shows strong gains in markets experiencing higher shopping activity, such as #2 in Florida and #1 in Michigan. Michigan’s shopping holiday remains above historical averages, but seems to be returning to more normal levels after skyrocketing last year due to a combination of factors brought on by the pandemic and, more notably, a change in the state’s personal injury protection laws. State Farm and Progressive are engaged in a tight battle for the top spot, after an early surge by Progressive. As national shopping activity stabilizes in 2021, it sets the stage of another big pivot for insurers to local markets in their battle for customer courtship. With the major disruptions of the pandemic likely in the rearview mirror, carriers will have to get aggressive about ramping up local market intelligence to remain competitive, while retaining the policyholders they may have acquired during 2020’s switching frenzy. It could make this year a landmark event in the battle for auto insurance supremacy.

The TLC diet improves heart health by recommending lifestyle changes and eating habits to improve lipid profile and promote weight loss. The main goals are to keep total dietary cholesterol to less than 200 milligrams per day and saturated fat intake to less than 7% of total calories. Recommendations include: Reducing saturated fat intake in the diet to lower LDL by choosing lean meats and low-fat dairy products and limiting whole eggs with yolk to no more than three per week Increasing intake of whole grains to lower LDL (50% of grains eaten should be whole grain) Eating fish two to three times per week – in particular, oily fish such as salmon and tuna to lower triglycerides and to increase HDL Using foods containing plant sterols or stanols to lower LDL. The TLC program also recommends engaging in moderate to vigorous exercise for 30 minutes four to five days per week for heart health and increasing HDL. Q: What are the recommended foods? Discouraged foods? A: Recommended foods include whole grains, fruits and vegetables, fish, beans, lentils, foods rich in mono- and polyunsaturated fats. Whole grains include whole-grain bread, oatmeal, whole grain rice, whole grain pasta, to name a few. Foods rich in monounsaturated fats include avocado, nut butters (trans fat free), nuts and seeds, canola, olive, peanut oil, and olives. Sources of polyunsaturated fats include fatty fish (salmon, tuna, halibut, mackerel), pine nuts, walnuts, grape seed oil, safflower oil, sunflower oil, plant stanol esters, flaxseed, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds, sesame seeds. Saturated fats are discouraged (limit to no more than twice per week), such as bacon (regular or turkey), butter, coconut, coconut milk, cream (half and half, heavy, light, whipped), cream cheese, lard, oil (coconut, palm, palm kernel), salt pork, shortening, and sour cream. Q: What are the nutritional benefits of this diet? Can it help with weight management? A: In addition to lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease, the TLC diet also provides those who follow it with a balanced diet that can help reduce the risk of getting other chronic conditions such as high blood pressure and diabetes. A useful behavior modification strategy endorsed by the TLC program is to differentiate between physical fullness (stomach is so full and distended because you may have overeaten) and satiety, a physiological signal from your brain that tells you to stop eating. One can achieve satiety by slowing down when you eat and chewing your food well to allow the brain to register that you are full. Q: Who should avoid this diet? A: People with dietary restrictions, such as those who cannot drink milk because of lactose intolerance or milk allergies, vegetarians, and people with Celiac disease, will find it challenging to follow the TLC diet. However, substitutions can be made for individuals with special dietary needs. Q: What kind of physiological changes or side effects should be expected? A: Aside from positive physiological changes such as improved lipid profile, blood sugar, blood pressure, and satiety, there are no known negative physiological changes or side effects of following the TLC diet. Q: What else should people know before considering this diet? A: The TLC diet requires making specific lifestyle changes and therefore is helpful to consult with a registered dietitian to get proper guidance. The TLC program is not designed for quick weight loss. It’s a healthy lifestyle plan that encourages long-term behavior changes that can improve the management and prevention of diet-related chronic conditions. [News] COVID Bill to Deliver Big Health Insurance Savings for Many
_Happy boy posted a topic in News
Winners include those covered by “Obamacare” or just now signing up, self-employed people who buy their own insurance and don't currently get federal help, laid-off workers struggling to retain employer coverage, and most anyone collecting unemployment. Also, potentially many more could benefit if about a dozen states accept a Medicaid deal in the legislation. Taken together, the components of the coronavirus bill represent the biggest expansion of federal help for health insurance since the Obama-era Affordable Care Act more than 10 years ago. Obamacare not only survived President Donald Trump’s repeated attempts to tear it down but will now get a shot of new life. Consider a couple of examples: A hypothetical 45-year-old making $58,000 now gets no aid under the ACA. With the bill, they'd be entitled to a $1,250 tax credit, or 20% off their premiums, according to the Congressional Budget Office. A 64-year-old making $19,300 already gets generous subsidies that reduce premiums to $800 a year. But with the bill, that person would pay no premiums for a standard plan. Because health insurance is so complicated, consumers are going to have to do their homework to figure out if there's something in the bill for them. And health care benefits are not like stimulus checks that can be blasted out. There will be a lag as government agencies, insurers and employers unpack the bill's provisions. There's also a political twist. Since most of the health care aid is keyed to the pandemic and expires by the end of 2022, that will let Democrats set up election-year votes to make new benefits permanent, or build them out even more. “There was always a hope that we were going to be able to return and build on where we started in 2009-2010, and we finally got to a place where it was possible,” said Judy Solomon of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities. Her organization advocates on behalf of low-income people and was an early supporter of the health care law. “We had this massive fight that went on for 10 years," said blogger Robert Laszewski, who followed Obamacare for an industry audience. “Over the weekend, it's like it's been erased.” The COVID-19 bill follows President Joe Biden’s strategy of building on the health law to move the U.S. toward coverage for all. It’s still unclear how big a dent the legislation will make in the number of uninsured people, which has risen to an estimated 33 million or more. A major health care item in the bill will depend on some Republican-led states going along. States mainly in the South have refused to expand Medicaid to low-income adults under the ACA. The legislation offers them a temporary infusion of billions of dollars to reconsider. If those states, including Texas, Florida and Georgia, were to do that, Biden would be closer to his coverage goal. Even if the hold-outs spurn the offer, the legislation provides plenty of other benefits. The biggest winners will be the more than 11 million people already enrolled in Obamacare as well as those who are now shopping for HealthCare.gov coverage. Biden has opened up a special sign-up period through May 15. The bill would change the formulas for health insurance tax credits to make them more generous for most people, and also allow a wider number of individuals to qualify. That makes coverage more attractive for people who are considering whether to buy and more affordable for those who already have it, mainly low-to-moderate income working people. Insurers are hoping that the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services will be able to quickly update HealthCare.gov software, allowing the companies to promote lower premiums and attract more consumers while the current sign-up window remains open. Industry also wants the agency to automatically adjust what existing customers are paying, sparing millions the headache of having to go back and reapply. In a politically significant change, the bill would provide health insurance tax credits to people with solid middle-class incomes who don't now qualify for help with their premiums. That's a demographic that includes many self-employed people and business owners who were hit with higher premiums as a result of the ACA, but cut out of the benefits. Their complaints fueled Republican opposition to the health law. “These are the people Trump was responding to,” said Laszewski. Another inducement is aimed at people who have lost jobs. Those who collect unemployment this year, if even for one week, would qualify for the most generous ACA tax credits as well as its biggest reductions in copays and deductibles. Other people who lose their jobs may want to keep their employer coverage. A federal law known as COBRA allows that, but the employee has to pay the full premium, often a prohibitive expense. The bill would provide a temporary 100% subsidy. Republicans cite the health insurance provisions as an example of coronavirus overreach by Democrats. Policy consultant Brian Blase, a former health care adviser in the Trump White House, says most of the additional subsidies for coverage will merely substitute for what private households would have otherwise paid. If made permanent, he predicts that over time the sweeter tax credits will have the unintended consequence of enticing small businesses to stop offering coverage to their workers. “This subsidy expansion largely replaces private spending with government spending.” said Blase. In mobile application development, server-side storage of the application's data remains top priority. In particular, many developers have begun using backend APIs that enable their apps to query a server for information in real time rather than reply upon static data stored in files. However, as many cloud storage services have been found to use unsecured configurations, data on thousands of mobile applications could be at risk. A main challenge arises when the task of securing the configurations of these services falls upon the app developers rather than the provider, such as Amazon AWS, Google's Firebase Storage or Azure by Microsoft. When developers use these storage services for the very purpose of having their API security taken care of, they invest the majority of their efforts into building the apps rather than protecting stored information. Such an oversight could threaten many app developers as well as their employers and users. In 2021, the mobile security company Zimperium found that over 14 percent of mobile apps using cloud storage face risks due to unsecured configurations. This research has revealed that, globally and across all industries, various apps are vulnerable to the exposure of publicly identifiable information (PII), fraud and unregulated internal IP/configuration sharing. Because the security of these mobile apps tends to reply on the cloud provider's default settings, the developer might not even realize data exposure could be occurring. In fact, even when cloud providers offer developers security guidelines, the developers might not adhere to them. With PII exposure, all manner of personal medical data, game apps, social media apps and fitness apps are put at risk. In terms of fraud enablement, such exposure provides attackers access to user data on mobile ecommerce platforms, transportation apps, gambling apps and payment information for Fortune 500 mobile wallet. Finally, entire IPs and systems face the threat of malicious data alteration with major music apps, major news services, Fortune 500 software companies, major airports and major hardware developers. Overall, the vertical most impacted by unsecure cloud server configurations appears to be business, at 17.6 percent risk. In order to mitigate such risks, developers can begin by ensuring that the cloud storage database they are using is unaccessible from outside interference. Furthermore, developers can prioritize a secure software development lifecycle in order to prevent execution of unsanitized code. At the end of the day, the challenge of mobile application security remains largely with the app developers themselves. While some organizations might shy away from more widescale changes such as patching always-on systems or replacing vulnerable hardware, app creators alone can help prevent many threats. Once more developers embrace this responsibility, securing mobile apps can become a norm rather than an afterthought.
