Hearthstone: Knights of the Frozen Throne Review Hearthstone's latest expansion is live and brings along new cards and features for players. However, new players may get less out of the expansion than what they expected. As CCGs become more and more po[CENSORED]r, it's invariable that those holding the most mindshare in the space will iterate and try to stay at the head of the pack. And Hearthstone is no different. With Knights of the Frozen Throne, Blizzard has made a series of improvements to do just that. From Legendary Hero Cards that allow players to replace their heroes and hero powers to new mechanics such as Lifesteal that allow players to heal their heroes by dealing damage with certain cards, a lot has changed in Hearthstone -- and we dug into the new expansion to find out if it's worth your time. Knights of the Frozen Throne Single Player Missions The new single-player content in Knights of the Frozen Throne is loosely based on the World of Warcraft raid Icecrown Citadel. The missions are separated into three wings, with the prologue and Lower Citadel available to players at launch and the remaining two wings unlocking over the next two weeks. These missions are similar in structure to the adventures Hearthstone introduced in earlier expansions, but the primary differences here are that these new missions are free-to-play and do not unlock exclusive cards. Instead, they reward players with card packs as they progress. Overall, the prologue is a relatively brief experience, but full of the usual Hearthstone charm. Characters break the fourth wall in amusing ways while staying consistent with their established personalities and lore from the overarching Warcraft franchise. The Lich King, for example, threatens to disenchant players for arcane dust and exclaims, “Your ranking will suffer!” during this early mission, which coincides well with his character and lore. The writing here also pokes fun at World of Warcraft raids. The prologue features a raid leader that is late to the game (Tirion Fordring), as well as cards such as Eager Rogue (which deals no damage when attacking), and Terrible Tank (which does not taunt). While players that are not familiar with World of Warcraft may not get the jokes, the writing helps make the mission fun and entertaining. On the mechanics side of things, this first mission acts as a tutorial that introduces players to some of the new cards found in Knights of the Frozen Throne and provides a taste of what the single-player missions will be. After completing the prologue, the player is rewarded with a random Death Knight Hero Card. The Lower Citadel continues to display much of the same writing style found in the prologue. However, the difficulty is significantly higher than previous single-player Hearthstone content. This level of challenge will make it hard for new players to complete missions, as the strategies required essentially need a large card collection and multiple decks in order to succeed. The Lower Citadel rewards players with a Knights of the Frozen Throne card pack on completion. Knights of the Frozen Throne Opening Packs I opened 50 packs from the new expansion and received 178 Common Cards, 57 Rare Cards, 12 Epic Cards, and three Legendary Cards. These results are roughly in line with the official probabilities that Blizzard released in China. Legendary cards should drop from roughly 1 out of every 20 packs, with epic cards coming from 1 in every 5 packs. The guaranteed legendary card introduced with this expansion will be useful for players that buy packs exclusively through in-game currency and for newer players. In larger sample sizes, it makes no appreciable difference for the drop rate. So overall, the packs seem to provide a good value for the price, but the experience of opening them is largely unchanged from previous expansions. Knights of the Frozen Throne Cards and Mechanics The new cards and mechanics introduced by Knights of the Frozen Throne are still finding a place in the metagame. Prior to the expansion, several of the most common decks were highly aggressive. These typically focused on overwhelming opponents with a large number of low-cost minions early in the game. The new Lifesteal mechanic is a potential counter to these types of decks and was used against one of my own decks in exactly that way on launch day. The legendary Death Knight Hero Cards received a lukewarm reception from the community because although some of these cards fit immediately into existing deck archetypes and are already common in online matches, others are struggling to find a place on deck lists. Compared to the previous expansion, Journey to Un'Goro, the new cards and mechanics are well-executed. Knights of the Frozen Throne is less reliant on randomly generated effects like adaptions, and the Death Knight Hero cards, even if they are a little situational, are able to complement a deck instead of requiring a very specific list like the quest cards from Journey to Un'Goro. Verdict Knights of the Frozen Throne has a lot to offer Hearthstone players. The introduction of new mechanics and card types will breathe some life into multiplayer matches, giving players new approaches when building decks. The single-player missions are entertaining and challenging, providing a worthwhile alternative to multiplayer when you need a break. All this means that existing players should load up the game just to try out Icecrown Citadel -- if for no other reason. However, this expansion does not give new players much of a reason to jump in. If you have not been interested in Hearthstone, this expansion is unlikely to change your mind. Hearthstone is available on PC, Mac, iOS, Android, and FireOS.

How much do you have to pay to tax your car? From today, 1 April, the amount could change because the government has overhauled the Vehicle Excise Duty system to encourage buyers to choose zero- and low-emission vehicles. How much you'll pay depends on what kind of car you have, how old it is, and how you want to pay. This article should help you make sense of it all. Vehicle Excise Duty, known as VED, is a tax levied by the government on every vehicle on UK public roads and is collected by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA). It’s a major source of revenue for the government, totalling billions of pounds each year, which goes into the central coffers of the exchequer. Although VED is often referred to as road tax, this is misleading. The tax isn’t on the road: it’s on the vehicles that use it. Road tax was abolished in the 1930s and the cost of maintaining the UK’s roads is currently covered by general taxation, not specifically VED. However, in his 2015 budget, then-chancellor George Osborne announced that a new road fund would be set up whereby all funds raised through VED will go into the building and upkeep of the UK’s road system. This new system was implemented by Rishi Sunak in his 2020 budget, but scheduled road works are likely to be pushed back as a result of the coronavirus outbreak. The VED system based on vehicle emissions was introduced in 2001 as part of a push to reduce pollutants being released into the atmosphere. Vehicles emitting more pollutants cost more to tax, as part of efforts to persuade drivers to consider buying cleaner vehicles. Changes to system in April mean significant differences for new car buyers. How VED has changed from April 2020 The changes coming into force as of April 2020 were drawn up as a means of enhancing the appeal of electric vehicle ownership. The government has uprated VED in line with the retail prices index (RPI) for cars, vans, motorcycles and motorcycle trade licences, but the biggest change, and the one that will be felt most by motorists and traders, is the switch from using NEDC emissions testing as the basis for the various tax band tiers to the new WLTP system. This new method is said to deliver more realistic readings for a vehicle’s fuel consumption, emissions output and driving range, and will result in vehicles moving up a band and becoming, on average, £5 more expensive to tax annually. On 6 April, benefit-in-kind car tax will be removed for electric vehicles, as part of a move to incentivise fleet managers and company car drivers to choose zero-emission models. Further incentive comes in the form of the removal of the £320 ‘expensive car tax’ for electric cars costing more than £40,000, which means anyone buying a new electric car from 1 April will save £320 per year for years two to six of ownership - a total saving of £1600. The exemption is set to be in place until 31 March 2025 and ongoing ‘expensive car’ payments for cars bought before 1 April 2020 will be scrapped. Elsewhere, diesel cars that don’t meet the latest RDE-2 emissions standards will be taxed at higher rates than their petrol equivalents, but a new flat rate of £150 for purely combustion-engined cars registered after 1 April 2017 will come into effect in April 2021. A flat rate of £140 will be applied to hybrids registered after this date. The old system will still apply to vehicles registered before 1 April 2017. See some examples of these changes at the end of this article. OLDER VEHICLES If your vehicle was registered before 1 March 2001, then the engine size in cubic centimetres (cc) is what’s important. • Cars with engines equal to or smaller in capacity than 1549cc (roughly equivalent to 1.5 litres) have to pay £145 a year, assuming they pay up front for 12 months. • Cars with engines larger than 1549cc will have to pay £235 a year. The exact amount due can vary slightly, depending on whether you pay for six months or 12 months, and whether you pay all at once or in instalments. You can see a full breakdown of the charges by going to the DVLA website. NEW VEHICLES If your car is newer, and was registered between 1 March 2001 and 1 April 2017, then it’s the emissions that you need to think about. Petrol- and diesel-powered cars are the most commonly taxed vehicles and they’re categorised by bands that are determined by their CO2 emissions. Prices vary slightly depending on how you pay – in one go, or in instalments. The table below shows the prices for six- and 12-month cycles and you can see the full breakdown by going to the government’s VED website. Petrol and diesel vehicles Includes cars that have a CO2 figure higher than 225g/km but were registered before 23 March 2006. Alternative fuel vehicles If your car is powered by an alternative fuelling system, then the charges are slightly different but based on the same premise. Alternative-fuel cars include hybrids and vehicles that run on biofuel or a variant of gas, such as LPG or CNG. Once again, the costs vary slightly depending on how you want to pay. Includes cars that have a CO2 figure higher than 225g/km, but were registered before 23 March 2006. TAXING FOR THE FIRST TIME If your car is brand new and you’re taxing it for the first time, then the costs are slightly different again. The below prices are only applicable the first time a car is taxed. After that, it follows the tables above. The system rewards drivers of new, low-emitting cars with a lower-than-usual payment for the first year, but it smacks high-emitting vehicles with a fairly stiff initial charge. The prices are for 12 months and are payable only in a single payment. You can see further details here. Petrol, diesel and alternative-fuel vehicles, first year only oods vehicles and motorbikes have their own VED system, which you can find more about here. PAYMENT Once you’ve figured out what you owe, you can pay your VED in a variety of ways. The simplest method is online at https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax, using a credit or debit card. You’ll also need one or more of the following documents to hand: • The V11 reminder letter that was sent to you when your existing tax was running out • The car’s V5C registration document, which must be in your name • The V5C/2 new keeper supplement if you’ve just bought the car • The ‘last chance’ warning letter sent to you if you’re about to end up on the wrong side of the law for not either paying or declaring a SORN If you’d rather use more traditional methods, you can pay over the phone by calling 0300 123 4321. There are charges for this call, which you can read about here. You can also pay at any post office that can process vehicle tax. You’ll need to bring one of the following: • The V11 reminder letter that was sent to you when your existing tax was running out • The car’s V5C registration document, which must be in your name • The V5C/2 new keeper supplement if you’ve just bought the car You may also need your MOT test certificate, valid for the start of the new tax period, and a valid Reduced Pollution Certificate if the vehicle has been modified to cut its emissions. In Northern Ireland, you’ll need to bring your insurance certificate or cover note. Article continues below advertisement EXEMPT VEHICLES From a financial point of view, the best position to be in is to be exempt from paying any VED, and if you’re in any of the following categories, you don’t have to pay anything. The following are exempt from car tax, and have been since before the changes took place: • Vehicles used by a disabled person • Vehicles registered before 1 January 1980 • Electric vehicles • Steam vehicles • Mobility scooters • Mowers • Agricultural, horticultural and farming vehicles If you own a car but you don’t drive it on public roads, then you’re also exempt, although you’ll have to declare it to the DVLA. This is called a Statutory Off Road Notification, or SORN, and you can declare it here. Be aware that if you don’t let the DVLA know that you want the car registered as off the roads, you’ll be liable for road tax even if the car doesn’t move. Conversely, if you want to take the vehicle back onto public roads, you’ll need to pay the appropriate amount of VED first. Unless you’re in the above categories you’ll have to pay. Well, almost – if your car is particularly green and emits less than 100 grams of carbon dioxide (CO2) per kilometre (g/km), then it is also exempt. But everyone else will need to cough up. THINGS TO NOTE Unlike in the past, you don’t need to wait for a tax disc to be sent for display in the vehicle’s window. The tax disc system was abolished in 2014. It’s important to note that VED no longer transfers to a new owner when you sell or buy a car. The new owner will need to tax the car afresh and they’ll need to do so before they drive the car. Some examples using the new system Price when new: £29,450, CO2 emissions: 0g/km First year tax rate after 1st April 2020: £0 Tax rate after first year of ownership: £0 Tax cost across first three years: £0 Price when new: £100,400, CO2 emissions: 0g/km First year tax rate after 1st April 2020: £0 Tax rate after first year of ownership: £0, plus £0 'expensive car' fee Tax cost across first three years: £0 Price when new: £53,354.99, CO2 emissions: 40g/km First year tax rate after 1st April 2020: £0 Tax rate after first year of ownership: £320 (including £310 Premium fee) Tax across first three years: £660

Intel announced via a product change notification document [PDF] this week that the Q87, H81, C226, QM87 and HM86 chipsets are hanging up their boots. The 8-series chipsets, codenamed Lynx Point, emerged in 2013. Intel tailored the chipsets specifically for its 4th Generation processors, codename Haswell, which dwelled on the LGA1150 CPU socket. While Haswell processors were based on the 22nm process node, Lynx Point was fabricated on the 32nm manufacturing process. The H81 chipset was widely po[CENSORED]r in entry-level and budget motherboards, while the Q87 chipset was often found on business-oriented motherboards. The C226 chipset was the rarest of the lot and popped up every once in a while in server and workstation products. Finally, the QM87 and HM86 chipsets targeted laptops. Intel partners that are still interested in one of the Haswell chipsets have until March 31, 2021 to place orders. The last shipment date is September 30, 2021. The majority of Intel's Haswell desktop CPUs are already in the retirement home, so the chipsets won't be missed by many. The discontinuance of the H81 and Q87 chipsets will likely be a blow to the very selected few of manufacturers that still plan to put out products for Haswell. However, not all is lost because the B85 chipset is still in circulation, although its days are probably numbered as well.

A key climate summit in Glasgow will be delayed until next year due to disruption caused by the coronavirus. The announcement was made in a joint statement from the UK and UN after a "virtual" meeting of officials. Dozens of world leaders were due to attend the COP26 gathering that was set to run in Glasgow from November 9 this year. It is expected that the conference will now take place by the middle of next year. 'Another year of failure’ Government insists COP26 summit will be in Glasgow Sturgeon and Gove make climate summit pledge As the virus has spread around the world, there has been a growing expectation in recent weeks that the COP26 talks would be delayed. Around 30,000 delegates, journalists and environmental campaigners were due in Scotland for the meeting. However the changing priorities that coronavirus has forced on governments can be clearly seen in Glasgow's Scottish Events Campus (SEC) which was due to host the talks. It is now set to become a temporary hospital to house patients affected by Covid-19. The decision to move COP26 was taken by UN officials, including UN climate chief Patricia Espinosa and UK Business Secretary Alok Sharma, who is president-designate of the meeting. "The world is currently facing an unprecedented global challenge and countries are rightly focusing their efforts on saving lives and fighting Covid-19," Mr Sharma said in a statement. "That is why we have decided to reschedule COP26." "We will continue working tirelessly with our partners to deliver the ambition needed to tackle the climate crisis and I look forward to agreeing a new date for the conference." Five years on from the landmark Paris agreement, all nations were due to put new improved climate action plans on the table at the Glasgow meeting. Environmental groups said the decision was understandable. "Postponing COP26 is the right thing to do - public health and safety must come first now," said Laurence Tubiana, one of the architects of the Paris agreement and CEO of European Climate Foundation. "This crisis has shown that international cooperation and solidarity are essential to protect global well-being and peace. COP26 next year should become a centre piece of revitalized global cooperation." The summit has had its fair share of controversy with rows between the UK and Scottish governments, and with Claire O'Neill, the minister originally appointed to run the talks, sacked by Prime Minister Boris Johnson. While the delay was almost inevitable in the light of coronavirus, some officials believe there may be a silver lining. Governments are set to spend huge amounts to boost their economies once the pandemic is over. There's a view that when the summit is eventually held, it could be an important forum for ensuring that money is spent on sustainable and renewable projects. "The pandemic will also reorder to an extent the priorities for COP26, as alongside the UN climate process countries will be devising stimulus packages for economies hard-hit by the crisis," said Adair Turner, Senior Fellow at the Institute for New Economic Thinking. "With low-carbon stimulus as a new priority for COP26, it should be seen as an opportunity to rebuild economies hit by coronavirus in ways that are healthier, more resilient to future shocks and fairer to a wider range of people."

I assume everybody has heard of Unreal. If not the game then the engine. When I think of Unreal, I think of multiplayer because that’s really what the series is focused on. But the first two games had actual stories. Unreal does have a multiplayer component but from what I’ve researched, the network code needed improvement, thus Unreal Tournament was born. Unreal Tournament was initially developed as an expansion for Unreal and went on to become one of the best multiplayer games of its era. Developed by Epic MegaGames and published by GT Interactive, Unreal was released for PC in May, 1998. Return to Na Pali is a mission pack developed by Legend Entertainment, adding new missions to the single player portion of the game. The two campaigns were later bundled together as Unreal Gold which is what I played for this review, specifically the GoG version. I did download and install the OldUnreal 227 Patch which is a community patch that adds support for modern systems, fixes multiple bugs, and includes a bunch of other improvements The story focuses on Prisoner 849 who manages to escape the prison spacecraft Vortex Rikers after it crash-lands on the planet Na Pali. The planet is home to a race of creatures known as the Nali and has been overrun and dominated by the Skaarj which are a race of technologically advanced reptilian-like creatures. Na Pali is a planet rich with a mineral known as Tarydium which is a source of great power and is the reason the Skarrj have invaded. Prisoner 849 navigates around the planet fighting the Skaarj and learning of the Nali’s suffering and even comes across other dead humans. The prisoner does escape the planet at the end of the main campaign and Return to Na Pali takes place not too long after that. Prisoner 849 is found by a Unified Military Services ship, Bodega Bay. The UMS send the prisoner on a mission back to Na Pali to locate downed ship and the prisoner discovers that the Skaarj aren’t the only enemy he or she needs to worry about. You can create your own character so Prisoner 849 can be male or female. The story is told through your translator which I guess translates any information provided by the many messages, signs, logs, journals, and terminals you come across. Return to Na Pali includes actual voice acting which is serviceable. Unfortunately, it does come to a rather abrupt end and it just feels anti-climactic. You’re never forced to actually care about the story in either campaign but it’s there if you want it. One thing I love about Unreal is its atmosphere. Everything about it is very sci-fi and alien. You can walk, run, crouch, jump, and dodge, and any items you pick up can be stored in your inventory for use at any time. The translator is not only good for understanding the story but also for understanding what you need to do to progress. A lot of the information you come across are actually hints or indications of what you need to do. You can use the flashlight, searchlight, and flares to see better in dark areas. The force field can be used as a defense, invisibility makes you temporarily invisible, and jump boots allow you to jump higher than normal. The amplifier will temporarily increase the damage of certain weapons and SCUBA gear allows you to breathe underwater for a brief time. In Return Na Pali, you’ll acquire Marine SCUBA Gear which does recharge over time. Then there’s Fruit Seeds which can be planted to grow Nali Fruit which grants health. Health can also be restored from health packs and super health packs found throughout the environments. Kevlar suits, assault vests, and shield belts provide you armor and toxin and asbestos suits allow you to traverse through hazardous areas safely. items, weapons, and ammo can be found lying around the environments and in breakable objects like crates. There’s a good variety of weapons in Unreal and they all prove to be useful. You start out with the Dispersion Pistol which has infinite ammo since it does recharge energy. It fires energy bolts and you can charge up energy for more powerful shots. You can find upgrades for the Dispersion Pistol which make it more powerful. The automag is a handgun that can be held sideways for a faster rate of fire. The ASMD can fire a beam or slow-moving orb of plasma. If you manage to shoot the orb with a with the beam, you can create an explosion. The Eightball Launcher is basically a six-barreled rocket and grenade launcher and if you hold the crosshair on an enemy long enough, the Eightball Launcher will lock on to them. You can hold down the fire buttons to unleash multiple projectiles at once. The Minigun fires a stream of bullets and it’s secondary fire is a faster but less accurate stream. The Stinger is like a machine gun shotgun combo. I think the Flak Cannon is my favorite weapon just because of how satisfying it feels to use. It launches flak shards that can bounce off surfaces and it can also launch grenades. The Razorjack is a weapon that fires blades that can ricochet and the secondary fire allows you to guide the blades with your crosshair. I find decapitating enemies with the Razorjack to be extremely rewarding. You’ll also get your hands on a Rifle which is really a sniper rifle. Then there’s the GES Bio Rifle which is a powerful weapon that fires blobs of Tarydium waste that will explode. You can charge up your shots for more damage and when the blobs land on surfaces, they basically act like timed mines. Return to Na Pali adds three new weapons to the arsenal – the Combat Assault Rifle, UMS Rocket Launcher, and UMS Grenade Launcher. I do like using them and they fit in considering the context of the story but they have existing counterparts that perform the same functions with some variation. For example, the Combat Assault Rifle is a rapid firing weapon, similar to the Stinger. Although, it does have a faster rate of fire and it can also launch a cluster of uranium shards that detonate on impact. The rocket launcher and grenade launcher do what you would expect and you already have the Eightball Launcher which doubles as both. You can guide rockets with the rocket launcher and you can launch timed grenades and grenades that can be detonated manually with the grenade launcher. You’re going to be engaging a lot of enemies on your journey as well as a few bosses. There are different races of enemies and some races include enemies of different ranks. Brutes are large enemies that can fire rockets and Behemoths are basically massive brutes that can do more damage. When it comes to the Skaarj, you’ll engage Scouts, Warriors, Berserksers, Assassins, and Lords. They can all fire dual energy orbs and are quick on their feet but will retreat if they take enough damage. They will rush you and slash at you when they get close enough and sometimes they’ll lunge at you with their claws. There’s also Skaarj troopers, gunners, and officers that can wield a variety of weapons, wear armor, and carry personal energy shields. Finally, there’s the Skaarj offspring which are little creatures that will leap at you. In the technologically advanced areas, you’ll encounter Mercenaries. They can wield all kinds of weapons and activate temporary shields that cover their entire body for protection. The Krall are a lizard-like species and you’ll engage both Warriors and Elites that fire bolts of energy. The Skaarj, Mercenaries, and Krall are the most common enemies in the game and the higher ranking ones will often prove to be very dangerous. These enemy types can be quick and they like to dodge roll to avoid your shots. There are some other enemies you’ll face frequently like Sliths which spit acid and Devilfish which are encountered underwater. Tentacles are attached to ceilings and fire projectiles and Gasbags fly in the air and fire flaming projectiles. Every now and then you’ll have to deal with Flies, Mantas, and Boblets and Return to Na Pali adds three new enemy types to the roster – Predators, Spinners, and UMS Marines. Predators are small fast-moving creatures that appear in numbers and rush you. Spinners are arachnid creatures that can lob balls of acid. And UMS Marines can move around very quickly and can wield combat assault rifles and rocket launchers. The most common boss-type enemy you’ll encounter is the Titan. You’ll fight numerous Titans across both campaigns. They can take a lot of damage before going down and will throw boulders at you which can do a lot of damage. The main campaign includes two additional unique bosses which are only encountered towards the end of the game. These include the Skaarj Warlord and Skaarj Queen. I think Return to Na Pali could have benefited from a unique final boss instead of ending the way it does. t’s very easy to get lost or stuck in Unreal, especially if you’ve never played this before. The translator will let you read the information you come across and you really should because much of that information indicates what you need to do but it’s not always clear where you need to go. This is not a unique trait to Unreal since a lot of first-person shooters in the nineties had confusing and/or maze-like level design. You’ll be pushing a lot of buttons, pulling a lot of levers, and interacting with a lot of terminals and then running back to a previous location to see what was opened or is now accessible if you can find the area. Some areas include multiple similar looking hallways and rooms and I often found myself running around in circles for a while. On the other hand, the environments do encourage exploration whether it’s because you need to figure out where to go or to find secret areas which contain goodies like weapons, ammo, and items. Cracks in specific walls indicate you can blow through them and there’s plenty of objects to break scattered around which normally house ammo and items. You can also push objects around which can sometimes be good for reaching higher platforms. You’ll have to watch out for traps, lava, and some other environmental hazards and one of the best things about this game is the large number varied environments. You’ll traverse through villages, caves, a temple, arena, castle, processing plant, and different alien installations. The environments will range from appearing primitive to technologically advanced. It’s pretty cool stuff and the environmental variety keeps things interesting throughout the entire experience and applies to both campaigns. The missions or maps are broken up by loading points and in Return to Na Pali, you can view your Kill Statistics at the end of each mission. I did play some Bot Matches and they are fast-paced and fun just as I expected. I do think Unreal Tournament does the multiplayer better but that game is based on the multiplayer here after all. I only played with the content that the game and OldUnreal 227 Patch came with. You can set the game style and speed, set a frag limit and time limit, create a map list, and customize the bots. You can decide on their appearance, name, color, class, skin, and then set how they will perform in battle with stats like skill, accuracy, combat style, alertness, camping, and favorite weapon. The bots actually perform well and can be challenging, depending on how you configure things. Obviously, they’re nothing like real opponents but they can make for fun single player action experiences. There’s different game types to choose from including the classics like deathmatch, team game, and king of the hill. I believe the OldUnreal 227 patch adds quite a few things like the Quadshot for example which was a weapon cut from the final version of the game. There is a large variety of maps to choose from and you can download and apply mutators which are basically modifiers. Needless to say, the multiplayer can be a lot of fun. You can download all sorts of mods that change things around so you’re not limited to just what the game offers. Unreal does look dated but doesn’t necessarily look bad. The textures are bit blurry and character models are blocky but there’s plenty of color and the environmental variety keeps the presentation from looking stale. The OldUnreal 227 Patch includes a lot of improvements and optional features that affect the visual presentation. There’s also improved texture mods out there should you want to give the game a facelift. Unreal includes a lot of detail especially in the environments which help breath life into the world around you. You’ll come across dead bodies and blood scattered around. You’ll see creatures flying in the skies and roaming around the surface areas. If you protect a Nali from enemies, it may lead you to a secret area. You’ll come across enemies on patrol or interacting with terminals. Then there’s the gore effects which are excellent. There’s nothing more satisfying than turning an enemy into bloody chunks or blowing their heads off with well placed shots. The soundtrack is phenomenal with a lot of memorable tunes that fit in with what’s happening on-screen and I would say the music is largely responsible for setting the game’s tone. There’s a lot of excellent tracks here that help to make things feel alien and science fiction-y. The sound effects are pretty good, overall. The weapons sound satisfying and enemies make all kinds of different noises. On the technical side, the game ran smooth most of the time. I did limit the frame rate to sixty for recording purposes and did notice some stutters but it wasn’t often. The only bug I encountered was textures not loading or just not loading correctly. This is the first time I’ve beaten Unreal and its expansion and I think it’s a phenomenal package. A true classic. It’s also become one of my favorite sci-fi shooters of all time. I love the setting, enemies, and weapons. The Skaarj and Mercenaries look badass in my opinion and give off that evil alien race vibe. Both campaigns do a great job at making you feel like the only human left alive on a hostile planet. The environments can be confusing but are well designed and encouraging exploration. Unreal is one of those games with high replayability. With both campaigns, multiple difficulty modes, and multiplayer, you’ve got plenty of reasons to return. But I think the greatest thing about Unreal is that it’s open for modding. Like Doom and Quake that came before it, Unreal is a game that will not only stand the test of time because it’s fun but because of the dedicated the community will keep it alive with mods. I would absolutely recommend Unreal to anyone. If you’re a fan of the other Unreal titles and have never played this before, you really should. Realizing the quality of both of these campaigns and how they still holds up today, it’s disappointing to know that the developers have shifted their focus entirely to multiplayer after Unreal II. I think Unreal is a good basis for the classic soldier-versus-aliens theme that could have blossomed into an interesting franchise with great fast-paced action-packed campaigns. There’s actually an impressive amount of world building here and if you enjoy fast-paced action in a sci-fi setting, definitely check out Unreal.

As tipped by leaker @momomo_us, an online Hong Kong retailer, which appears to be an authorized MSI distributor, has listed the MSI GS66 Stealth 10SG gaming laptop with an estimated arrival date of May. With these specs, the machine is looking like it'll be one of the best gaming laptops in MSI's arsenal. AMD Ryzen 4000-powered laptops are starting to hit the shelves of many U.S. retailers. It's now on Intel to prove if its 10th Generation Comet Lake-H army can fend off AMD's 7nm APUs. According to the Hong Kong listing, the GS66 Stealth 10SG measures 14.1 x 9.8 x 0.8 inches (358.3 x 248 x 19.8mm) and weighs up to 4.6 pounds (2.1kg). The laptop packs a 15.6-inch panel with 1080p resolution and an impressive 300 Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. The device uses a Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Super Max-Q graphics card, which should be more than enough to push those frame rates at that resolution. The graphics card offers a whopping 3,072 CUDA cores and 8GB of GDDR6 memory at 14 Gbps. On the CPU side, the laptop is listed with an Intel Core i9-10980HK, which retains the same 8-core, 16-thread configuration as the previous i9-9980HK. Intel has probably pushed its 14nm process node to the max by now. Instead of adding more cores, the chipmaker can only push for higher operating clocks. The i9-10980HK appears to come with a 2.5 GHz base clock and a 5.3 GHz Thermal Velocity Boost (TVB) clock. Configurations can vary by region, but this particular model is outfitted with two 16GB sticks of DDR4-2666 RAM and a 2TB PCIe M.2 SSD. The laptop conveniently provides two SODIMM DDR4 memory slots, so you can rock up to 64GB of memory. There are also two M.2 slots, making it possible to run a RAID 0 array on the laptop. The GS66 Stealth 10SGS is said to ship with MSI's robust CoolerBoost Trinity+ cooling system. It transfers heat from the processor and graphics card via seven heatpipes and dissipates it with three cooling fans. MSI claims an uplift of 15% in airflow compared to previous designs. Being a gamer-oriented product, MSI is apparently attempting to implement one of the best gaming keyboards in its laptop by calling in SteelSeries and per-key RGB lighting. Other noteworthy attributes include a four-cell, 99 Whr battery, dual Dynaudio Duo Wave 2W speakers, Killer E3100 Gigabit and WiFi 6 AX1650 DoubleShot Pro networking. Connectivity-wise, the GS66 Stealth 10SGS provides one HDMI 2.0 port, one Thunderbolt 3 port, one USB 3.2 Type-C port and two USB 3.2 Type-A ports. The GS66 Stealth 10SGS is listed for 32,999 Hong Kong dollars (HKD), which converts to roughly $4,255. Hardware is normally more expensive overseas, so you can consider the shop's pricing a worst-case scenario of what we could expect in the U.S.

Cooped up in an isolation ward, a young Zimbabwean man who had been diagnosed with Covid-19, pleaded with his family for help. Thirty-year-old Zororo Makamba was "alone and scared", according to his older brother who spoke to Zimbabwe's privately owned Daily News newspaper. Makamba was being treated in the Wilkins Hospital, designated as the main isolation facility for coronavirus patients in Zimbabwe's capital, Harare. Shortly after he talked to his family, he was dead. The death of Makamba, a well-known journalist, came swiftly - less than three days after his diagnosis. Famous for his online social and political commentary, under the banner "State of the Nation", his death achieved an unwanted milestone. He was the country's first coronavirus casualty and it shocked Zimbabwe. The fact that Makamba came from a wealthy, high-profile family did not save him, and family members have argued that his death has exposed the inadequacies of the country's medical response to the threat of conronavirus. 'Death could have been avoided' "The government is ill prepared to deal with the virus," older brother Tawanda Makamba told the Daily News. The health ministry said his pre-existing condition made him vulnerable to the disease. He had undergone surgery last November to remove a tumour from under his lung and was in recovery. While his family admit that his immune system was compromised, they insist that his death could have been avoided. Image captionPeople are having their hands cleaned before entering some banks in Harare Very few governments were prepared for a public health crisis of this magnitude. As the coronavirus swept through Asia, Europe and the US, Zimbabwe has watched from the sidelines as advanced economies with better developed health care systems have buckled under the strain. The shortage of hospital beds, of protective clothing and life-saving equipment, such as ventilators, is a global problem. 'World needs to know what happened' The difference is that many of these countries were overwhelmed by hundreds and then thousands of patients. Zimbabwe, it seems, was overwhelmed by one. "The world needs to know what happened to Zororo," his brother Tawanda told the BBC in a brief phone conversation. Zororo Makamba had returned from New York with flu-like symptoms and was told by his doctor that it was a regular flu, the family says. But on Friday 20 March his condition deteriorated and he was tested for coronavirus. The positive result did not come through until the early hours of Saturday morning, but his admission to the isolation facility was delayed because "they were not ready to admit him", according to his family. You may also be interested in: 'My cousin died as the doctors are all on strike' Why coronavirus advice won’t work for millions of people Going into mourning for mass funeral ban No alcohol, no dog walks: Lockdown in South Africa He was eventually admitted, despite there being no ventilator to help him breathe. Makamba then died on Monday morning. The Harare city authority denies there was negligence. In a series of messages posted on social media it said that "the hospital staff did all they could to save his life", but admitted the clinic did not have ventilators. "Not all patients require ventilators… we started with one of the worst cases which required a ventilator," the city's health director Dr Prosper Chonzi told state media. 'Lack of funds' They also had not received needed funds from central government to equip their facility to deal with coronavirus cases. "We were given an unfunded mandate," Dr Chonzi said. The government has admitted concerns about its preparedness, if cases spike. "People are rightly expressing concern over our capacity to fight Covid-19," government spokesman Nick Mangwana said in a tweet. "We can fight this if [we] take a national approach." President Emmerson Mnangagwa said that as "each day passes we increase our capacity to respond". He has since announced a nationwide lockdown to begin on Monday. But the state of Wilkins Hospital is symptomatic of a broader problem. Ventilators donated For decades Zimbabwe's health system has been in decline. At their worst, public hospitals have had no running water and no pain killers. Doctors say they have sometimes been forced to wash and reuse bandages. Critics have blamed the government for allowing the situation to deteriorate, pointing out that top officials have been known to seek treatment abroad at the expense of the public. After Makamba's death, some private sector companies on Wednesday announced plans to establish isolation facilities at several idle private clinics. The announcement has been met with both joy and cynicism. STRESS: How to protect your mental health MAPS AND CHARTS: Visual guide to the outbreak Some have said that the intervention at this stage is welcome, but others say the rich and powerful are setting up facilities for themselves. The government insists access will be for all. Meanwhile, a large consignment of protective equipment and test kits have arrived in the country, courtesy of Chinese billionaire Jack Ma and Wilkins Hospital is undergoing renovations thanks to Chinese aid. Ventilators have also been donated to Wilkins, but they came too late for Makamba. The young journalist's death was "his most profound and emphatic State of the Nation… he exposed the lies of government and the opposition," media owner Trevor Ncube tweeted. "His lonely and painful death reminded us all that we are the change that we seek."

AMD Ryzen 4000 mobility processors has shaken up Intel since their announcement since they aim for the notebook market where Intel remained the king but that might change soon. This is shown by rumors stating that the Comet Lake H Parts may be arriving earlier than initially suspected to counter the Ryzen 4000 launch. With that said, TUM_APISAK (via NotebookCheck) has spotted and tweeted out a picture that leads many to believe that Intel might be planning to release a Core i5 chip with 6 cores but also, 8 threads, to tackle the Ryzen threat in the mobility space. Intel's Core i5-10500H Reportedly Offers 6 Cores and 8 Threads, Coming To Comet Lake-H Notebook Family The main surprising part of this listing is that the CPU is stated to have eight threads, this may be an erroneous listing, but if this listing is correct, then the upcoming i5-10500H could be the world's first six-core, eight-thread processor. This processor seemingly has a base clock speed of 2.5 GHz and potentially has an all-core boost to be in the mid-3 GHz range. Rumors Point To No 6 Core SKUs in The AMD Ryzen Processor Family – Enthusiast Chips May Cost Up To $700 US If this listing is correct, the i5-10500H will offer similar performance to the i7-10750H, a six-core, twelve-thread processor. That may be the faster model in Intel's 10th Generation, but the direct competitor to this processor is going to be the Ryzen 5 4600H, which offers six-cores and twelve-threads. The direct competitor that being the Ryzen 5 4600H offers more threads while and has a TDP of 45 Watt and can be configured between 35 - 54 Watts. But the TDP of the Intel i5-10500H has not been released. A picture of Intel's Core i5-10500H which reportedly features 6 cores and 8 threads. A picture of Intel's Core i5-10500H which reportedly features 6 cores and 8 threads. (via TUM_APISAK) The Ryzen 5 4600H isn't that far behind in terms of IPC, sustained all-core clocks will largely determine the Comet Lake i5-10500H's performance relative to it. The Intel i5-10500H processor will be cheaper than the Ryzen 7 4800H, though the Ryzen 7 4800H will perform much better than the Intel i5-10500H. Intel 10th Gen Comet Lake-H Mobility CPU Family: The Ryzen 7 4800H which offer a max boost clock of 4.2 GHz and has more threads than the listing of the Intel i5-10500H, this means that the Ryzen 7 4800H processor might cost quite a bit more but is expected to offer much more performance. More information regarding the Intel i5-10500H is very scarce at this point, but some other information regarding Intel's 10th Generation can be seen here.

Iran has ceased co-operation with Ukraine in its investigation into the downing of Ukrainian passenger jet PS752 by Iranian missiles last month. It comes after leaked remarks suggested Iran knew immediately that it had struck the plane. Ukrainian TV aired an exchange between air traffic control and a pilot who was landing as the jet crashed. The Iranian pilot allegedly states he saw a flash like missile fire in the sky, and then an explosion. Iran initially denied responsibility for the downing on 8 January that killed 176, but Ukraine's president said the conversation proved the country knew the flight had been hit by a missile. At the time Iran was on high alert, having fired ballistic missiles at two US bases in Iraq in retaliation for the killing of top Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in a US drone strike in Baghdad. Who are the victims of Iran plane crash? Iran's leader defends military over plane disaster What we know about the Iran plane crash "We will no longer provide any documents to the Ukrainians," the head of the Iranian investigation team, Hassan Rezaeifar, told Iranian news agency Mehr on Monday. Media captionPedram Mousavi, Mojgan Daneshmand, and their two daughters were all passengers on flight PS752 In the aftermath of the incident, Iran agreed to co-operate in investigating with "foreign experts". There are clearly tensions over the conduct of the investigation, the BBC's correspondent in Ukraine Jonah Fisher explains. Ukraine wants to look at the black box flight recorders. Iran has been stalling for weeks and is insisting on trying to extract the information in Tehran, he adds. What's in the leaked recording? The recording is of a conversation between an Iranian pilot who was landing shortly after the doomed Ukrainian passenger jet took off, and the control tower in Tehran. In an audio clip published by a Ukrainian YouTube channel, the Aseman Airlines pilot says he is seeing lights in the sky ahead. "Is this an active area? There's lights like a missile. Is there anything?" he says. "Nothing has been reported to us. What's the light like?" the controller replies. The pilot says: "It's the light of a missile." Iran 'arrests person who filmed plane downing' The control tower is then heard trying to contact the Ukrainian plane several times, without success. After a few minutes, the Iranian pilot tells the control tower he has just seen a "big light from an explosion". When politics and air investigations collide The country where a plane crashes is usually responsible for leading investigations, but political interests can get in the way. In 2014 a missile hit flight MH17 over eastern Ukraine at the height of conflict between Ukrainian troops and Russian-backed groups. Both sides blamed each other for the disaster which killed 283 passengers. The Netherlands, which lost 193 citizens, commissioned three investigations, and in 2018 a joint team concluded the plane was downed by a Russian missile. In 2015 Egyptian and Russian officials disagreed on the causes of the Russian Airbus 321 crash in the Sinai peninsula which killed 224 people. It wasn't until 2016 that the Egyptian president acknowledged the Russians' conclusion that Islamic state militants were behind the disaster. And sometimes airlines are reluctant to admit they may be at fault. A Yemenia Airways crash en route to the tiny Comoros Islands in 2009 was blamed on pilot error by French and US officials. But Yemenia Airways, which had been accused previously of poor safety, rejected the findings and demanded further readings of the plane's black box.

Mozilla has been very quiet about Thunderbird for some time now. Although the email client was never officially killed off, the organisation stopped actively developing it a number of years ago, now conceding that "there was a time when Thunderbird's future was uncertain". But now the software has a new home and a new owner. MZLA Technologies Corporation is a new, wholly owned subsidiary of the Mozilla Foundation, and the move comes with the promise that the day-to-day operations of Thunderbird will not be affected We've rounded up the best free email clients Check out the best email providers of 2020 The tricks hackers use to hijack your email Announcing Thunderbird's new home, Mozilla says that it "will still remain free and open source, with the same release schedule and people driving the project". It also points out that the move will make it possible to collect funds through partnerships and non-charitable donations, and explore options that would not otherwise have been possible. The change of hands doesn't mean that everything will change. The same people will be working on Thunderbird, and it will remain an open source project with a strong focus on privacy. A new home Mozilla is in a cheerful mood about the future of its baby. The organisation says that the move to MZLA Technologies Corporation will allow the project to "hire more easily, act more swiftly, and pursue ideas that were previously not possible". But the corporation is quick to point out that the focus of the software will remain the same. So, in short, Thunderbird's future is both safe and exciting. We're told that "more information about the future direction of Thunderbird will be shared in the coming months", and for now we can only guess at what might be around the corner.

Today, I have another update from a source located inside NVIDIA. The company's next-generation SUPER graphics cards are (finally) making their way onto the laptop side of things and will be available starting May. The embargo for this information is currently scheduled to lift on 3/31 along with Intel's 10th generation mobility processors (although NVIDIA/Intel can easily move this date around as they have done in the past). It looks like NVIDIA is introducing at least 6 (there may be more) new graphics cards into its mobility space to replace existing lineups. From the timeline given in the documents I have with me, these parts should be available starting April. Powerful NVIDIA's SUPER mobility graphics cards landing soon, will be announced on 3/31 and be available for the same price As you might have noticed, NVIDIA has teamed up with Intel and the NDA is scheduled to lift on the exact same date as the 10th generation CPU launch. According to the information I have NVIDIA is planning to introduce at least 6 new chips at the same price points as their older variants. This means that gamers will very soon have access to a higher tier of power in the same budget. GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 mobility GPU (new) The GeForce GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 mobility GPU is going to be replacing the standard GTX 1050 3GB GDDR5 card found in most entry-level gaming notebooks. Not only is it a much more powerful chip than the GTX 1050 and has an additional Gigabyte of memory but this is a new 1650 chip that ships with GDDR6 instead of GDDR5. GeForce GTX 1650 Ti 4GB GDDR6 mobility GPU (new) The GeForce GTX 1650 Ti 4GB GDDR6 mobility GPU is going to be replacing the standard GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5 card - which constitutes the company's slightly more expensive entry-level gaming lineup based on the Turing architecture. The GTX 1650 Ti is going to have a much higher core count and will be shipping with GDDR6 memory instead of GDDR5. GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDDR6 mobility GPU (new) This is a slightly odd entry. A new variant of the RTX 2060 appears to be replacing the older RTX 2060. I do see in the documentation that this is a brand new chip, but it appears to have the same name as its predecessor. This is likely a misspelled SUPER variant and/or a higher clocked/better-binned GPU. We are not yet sure how this compares to the older RTX 2060. GeForce RTX 2070 8GB GDDR6 mobility GPU (new) The RTX 2070 is going to be replaced by two new chips. The first chip appears to be virtually identical to the older variant as far as nomenclature goes. This is likely a higher clocked/better-binned GPU. We are not yet sure how this compares to the older RTX 2070. GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8GB GDDR6 mobility GPU (new) The RTX 2070 SUPER is the second chip that will be replacing the older RTX 2070 (likely at the higher end of the price point). It is going to be more powerful than the vanilla 2070 and will available in roughly the same price point as the older 2070. GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER 8GB GDDR6 mobility GPU (new) The RTX 2080 SUPER 8GB GDDR6 is going to be replacing the vanilla RTX 2080 part. This is going to be a more powerful GPU available at roughly the same price point. Intel is going to be entering the dGPU mobility market this year as well and NVIDIA seems to be reacting in advance by lowering their performance per dollar asking price for GPUs (roughly $50-100 for the same performance). With these new replacements, gamers will have access to more affordable gaming laptops and even entry-level SKUs will ship with a powerful GTX 1650 graphics card with GDDR6 memory. This also fits into NVIDIA's overall masterplan to increase the TAM (total available market) for laptops and make them portable gaming powerhouses.

Boris Johnson is to say he won't accept alignment with EU rules when Britain negotiates a trade deal with Brussels. The prime minister will use a speech on Monday to toughen his stance ahead of trade talks following the UK's formal withdrawal from the bloc. Minister Dominic Raab said agreeing to align strongly with EU rules would "defeat the point of Brexit". But Irish PM Leo Varadkar said the UK needed to commit to a level playing field to get a free trade deal. And Labour's John McDonnell said by seeking to move away from EU rules, the PM was contradicting promises he made to protect standards on the environment, workers' rights and consumer protections. EU chief negotiator Michel Barnier will also set out his approach to the talks, which are due to start next month. Brexit: What happens next? Seven things Brexit will change and seven it won't UK begins new chapter outside European Union What is a 'Canada-style' trade deal? In what is being described as a comprehensive speech, Mr Johnson will tell the European Union he is prepared to accept customs checks at Britain's borders if he cannot secure the sort of trade deal he wants. One option the PM could support would be a Canada-style free trade deal which allows tariff-free trade for the majority of goods, but would not cover the UK's service industry - which accounts for more than 80% of UK jobs. Reports in recent days have suggested EU chiefs want the UK to continue to follow Brussels-made rules on standards and state subsidies - while accepting the jurisdiction of the European Court of Justice in any trade disputes. Speaking to the BBC's Andrew Marr Show, Mr Varadkar said it was possible for the UK to have a "Canada-style agreement". However he said that if the UK wanted a tariff-free trade deal "then that needs to come with a level playing field" adding "we have very strong views on fair competition and state aid." A level playing field is a trade policy phrase for a set of common rules and standards that prevent businesses in one country undercutting their rivals and gaining a competitive advantage over those operating in other countries. Brexit: What is a level playing field? Varadkar warns election could hit EU trade talks Mr McDonnell said Mr Johnson's desire to diverge from EU rules "contradict" what the PM had previously said on protecting environmental, consumer and employment rights. "On the one hand he said there will be [protections] on the other hand he is sabre-rattling saying that won't happen in the negotiations," he said. But Brexit Party leader Nigel Farage welcomed the prime minister's approach arguing it was in the UK's "national interest" to be "a competitor on their [the EU's] doorstep." The government is understood to be angry about perceived attempts by Brussels to go back on an agreement struck in October as part of the Withdrawal Agreement, the Sunday Telegraph first reported. The PM is expected to tell the EU in the speech that he will accept no alignment, no jurisdiction of the European courts, and no concessions to any Brussels' demands when talks start in March. He is also preparing to rule out relaxing rules on workers' rights, food hygiene standards and environmental protections. Mavericks to mainstream: The long campaign for Brexit How the UK celebrated joining Europe The government also wants to make progress in striking free trade agreements with countries such as the United States, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. The EU's own approach to the negotiations needs to be agreed by all 27 member states - which would be unlikely to happen before the end of February. While the UK officially left the EU at 23:00 GMT on Friday, it will remain wedded to EU rules during a transition period which ends in December this year. The UK can request an extension to this transition period, but Mr Johnson has previously said he will not do so.

So, I have an update to our earlier exclusive on Intel 10th generation mobility processors and this information supersedes the previous one. Not only do I have the exact model of the CPUs that Intel will be launching, but a date on when the embargo lifts as well. Intel is going to be launching the Core i5 10300H, Core i7 10750H, and the Core i7 10875H processors in late March. According to my source, the embargo expires on 3/31 but keep in mind Intel can move these dates around. Intel launching powerful 8 core mobility processor flagship, the Core i7 10875H, on March 31 While I still do not know the complete specifications of the processors or the exact process they are based on, I do know the name and model of the processors as well as the embargo lift date. The interesting thing is that Intel is going to be dividing its existing mobility lineup into further categories instead of the existing two The Core i5 9300H is going to be replaced with the Core i5 10300H processor. The Core i7 9750H is going to be succeeded by two different SKUs: the Core i7 10750H and the Core i7 10875H. We do know that the Core i7 10875H is an 8 core / 16 thread part. Intel's previous mobility flagship, the Core i7 9750H was only a 6-core part, but with the increased competition faced from AMD's 7nm products like Renoir, Intel appears to be stepping up their game. While it is not explicitly mentioned, I would assume that Core i7 10750H is a 6 core / 12 thread part while the Core i5 10300H is the standard quad-core affair. [Caution: This portion is my opinion and not part of our exclusive] If Intel's 10th Generation H series mobility lineup follows cues from existing 10th generation mobility parts, then it will be based on the Sunny Cove architecture, fabricated on the 10nm process and will essentially be a very strong contender to Renoir. Considering AMD's Renoir is based on the 7nm process and exists in the mobility platform where power efficiency and economies of die-space are key, no 14nm processor from Intel is going to be able to compete with these. Assuming these are 10nm parts, then things are about to get very heated in March when these launch. Keep in mind when I say launch, I mean the announcement. It is possible that actual availability is delayed by a couple of weeks. Intel's 10th Generation H series processors are going to jump-start the upgrade cycle for the mobility space and should help stabilize the company in terms of process lead and market share. If however, I am wrong about my assumption of 10nm, and these are actually 14nm parts, then things could get very tricky, very fast. Renoir would easily win over any 14nm parts in terms of performance and availability (Intel's 14nm foundries are absolutely chock full) and the company would have to cut pricing even further to maintain market share and mind share. It will also need to figure out the messaging properly. [/Speculation]

Windows 10X is set to introduce some extra visual oomph to the desktop, allowing for the use of dynamic wallpapers. In other words, these will be desktop backgrounds which change to reflect the current time of day (or indeed night) going by your device’s clock. Microsoft Surface Neo: release date, news and features Windows 10: how good it is really these days? How to upgrade to Windows 10 for free This development was spotted by Windows Central, and highlighted a mountain landscape which cycles through morning, afternoon, evening and night-time, synced with the passage of time in the real world. Dynamic clouds are another element which can appear, potentially linked to the weather, perhaps (although whether or not that might be the case isn’t mentioned). While this isn’t confirmed, the tech site says it ‘understands’ these wallpapers are coming with Windows 10X, although it isn’t certain how many there will be. The complexity of these wallpapers could be limited by CPU usage, given that Windows 10X is targeted at dual-screen (or foldable) portable devices, where battery life will doubtless be a primary consideration. Still, it would be a pretty nifty addition for those who want a bit of visual sparkle with their desktop experience, no doubt – assuming it does actually come to fruition, of course. Mac first Dynamic wallpapers are something that Mac users have been able to enjoy since macOS Mojave was released, although there are third-party apps out for Windows 10 which are simple workarounds to get these dynamic backgrounds on a Microsoft machine. It’s certainly a feature that some users enjoy, so it’s good to hear that official support is (hopefully) in the pipeline for 10X – although whether the ability will subsequently come to Windows 10 itself is another question. Presumably there’s no reason why it shouldn’t, eventually.

The US has announced it is expanding its curbs on immigration to include six more countries, including Nigeria, Africa's most populous nation. Citizens from Nigeria, Eritrea, Sudan, Tanzania, Kyrgyzstan and Myanmar will now be blocked from obtaining certain types of visas. People from those countries will still be able to visit the US as tourists. In 2018 the US issued twice as many immigration visas to Nigeria than to the other five nations combined. An official said the new measures were the result of failures by the six countries to meet US security and information-sharing standards. "These countries, for the most part, want to be helpful but for a variety of different reasons simply failed to meet those minimum requirements that we laid out," acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf told reporters on Friday. US to expand travel ban, says Trump What is the Trump travel ban? He said officials would work with the countries on bolstering their security requirements to help them get off the list. US President Donald Trump first introduced a travel ban in 2017. It currently closes US borders to citizens from seven countries, most of them with Muslim majorities. In 2018 the US issued more than 8,000 immigration visas to citizens of Nigeria. That same year, just over 2,000 were issued to Sudanese nationals, 290 to Tanzanians, and just 31 to Eritreans. The US had previously announced a ban on certain types of visas for Eritreans in 2017. What are the new rules? The US said it would suspend the issuance of visas that can lead to permanent residency for nationals of Nigeria, Eritrea, Kyrgyzstan, and Myanmar. Sudanese and Tanzanian nationals will no longer be allowed to apply for "diversity visas", which are available by lottery for applicants from countries with low rates of immigration to the US. Mr Wolf said non-immigrant visas given to people for temporary stays - including visitors, those doing business or people seeking medical treatment - would not be impacted by the new rules. Of the new nationalities facing visa restrictions, Nigerians account for the most immigration to the US. According to US government statistics, the State Department issued 8,018 immigrant visas to Nigerians in the fiscal year 2018. Kyrgyzstan and Sudan have large Muslim majorities, while around 50% of people in Nigeria and Eritrea are Muslim. Tanzania also has a sizable Muslim community. What is the travel ban? Mr Trump signed a controversial travel ban just seven days after taking office in January 2017, arguing it was vital to protect Americans. The ban initially excluded people from seven majority-Muslim countries but the list was modified following a series of court challenges. It now restricts citizens of Iran, Libya, Somalia, Syria, Yemen, Venezuela and North Korea. While the government has suspended most immigrant and non-immigrant visas to applicants from those countries, exceptions are available for students and those with "significant contacts" in the US.

t looks like we are getting more closer to the launch of AMD's Zen 3 CPUs as microcode for the upcoming lineup has been added to the Linux Kernel, as spotted by Komachi. The AMD Zen 3 line of processors are aimed to hit in the coming quarters and it looks like they are going to be a bigger upgrade than we have anticipated as many leaks and official representatives have stated. AMD Zen 3 CPU Architecture Microcode Added To Linux Kernel As We Get Closer To Launch of Next-Gen Ryzen, EPYC Families The latest code adds EDAC (Error Detection and Correction) support for AMD's Family 19h which refers to the Zen 3 architecture while the Zen 2 architecture was referred to as the Family 17h. It also states that the existing Family 17h functions can be used for Family 19h, while also allowing family 19h to automatically load the module. The full kernel code can be seen here and here. The timing of this code's appearance is particularly interesting as AMD hasn't yet officially announced any new detail at any major event with CES 2020 being the last where we were expecting to hear more about Zen 3 architecture or the respective products. However, this means that in the upcoming months, AMD is definitely bringing us more news as also stated by AMD's CEO, Dr. Lisa Su, in the 'The Bring Up' interview where she states that Zen 3 architecture is doing really well, they are excited about it and that she looks forward to talking more about it later in 2020. Now there is a plentiful of events where AMD can announce and give us more information on Zen 3 with GDC closing up in March, Computex and E3 in June. However, major tech companies may withhold their Computex conferences if the Coronavirus outbreak doesn't get contained which means the announcement would have to move to a different venue and in the case, E3 sounds like the best bet. AMD has so far confirmed themselves that Zen 3 brings a brand new CPU architecture which helps deliver significant IPC gains, faster clocks and even higher core counts than before. Based on brand new TSMC's 7nm+ process node which utilizes EUV technology, the AMD Zen 3 processors would deliver higher efficiency and deliver more compute output with similar or less energy consumption. When asked about what kind of performance gain Milan's CPU core microarchitecture, which is known as Zen 3, will deliver relative to the Zen 2 microarchitecture that Rome relies on in terms of instructions processed per CPU clock cycle (IPC), Norrod observed that -- unlike Zen 2, which was more of an evolution of the Zen microarchitecture that powers first-gen Epyc CPUs -- Zen 3 will be based on a completely new architecture. Norrod did qualify his remarks by pointing out that Zen 2 delivered a bigger IPC gain than what's normal for an evolutionary upgrade -- AMD has said it's about 15% on average -- since it implemented some ideas that AMD originally had for Zen but had to leave on the cutting board. However, he also asserted that Zen 3 will deliver performance gains "right in line with what you would expect from an entirely new architecture." - The Street Now according to TSMC themselves, the 7nm+ process node allows an increase of 20% in overall transistor density while increasing power efficiency by 10%. AMD could take full advantage of the process node and we could see a density boost of up to 20% in the Zen 3 architecture while having 10% better power efficiency. Some of the details we know for EPYC Milan CPUs include: 7nm+ Zen 3 cores (~64 core / 128 thread) Pin Compatible With SP3 Socket 120W-225W TDP SKUs PCIe 4.0 Support DDR4 Memory Support Launch in 2020 Some rumors have even pointed to a 17% increase in IPC and a 50% increase in Zen 3's floating-point operations along with a major cache redesign which is something that Intel is also following with its Willow Cove cores that are to be featured in the 10nm+ Tiger Lake CPUs. Overall, we can expect some great stuff coming in from AMD in the next couple of months but if you're looking for a new CPU today, then there are some sweet deals going on the existing 3rd Gen Ryzen family which you can see here.
