  3. A film about scheming strippers starring Jennifer Lopez has been banned in Malaysia because of its "excessive obscene content". The country's film censorship board said Hustlers' naked breasts, erotic dances and scenes featuring drugs made it "not suitable for public screening". Square Box Pictures, the company distributing Hustlers in Malaysia, confirmed the ban on social media. The film is currently riding high in both the US and UK box office charts. Pole dancing in film role 'hardest thing' for J Lo In Hustlers, a group of exotic dancers set out to fleece their wealthy clients. The film, which also stars Constance Wu and Julia Stiles alongside Lizzo and Cardi B in smaller roles, is based on a true story and was inspired by a New York Magazine article that went viral in 2015. The BBFC (British Board of Film Classification) gave the film a 15 certificate due to its "sexualised nudity, strong sex references, language [and] drug misuse". Earlier this year gay sex scenes in Rocketman were censored in Malaysia ahead of the Elton John biopic's release there. Scenes were also removed from the film in Russia, while it received an outright ban in Egypt, Samoa and the Cook Islands.

  5. Microsoft has broken something else with an update – this appears to be becoming a bad habit of late – and this time it’s Windows Defender, although the problem has now been fixed according to the software giant. So what is this issue, exactly? Well, an update for Windows Defender which fixed a previous bug has (once again) triggered unforeseen repercussions, in this case, causing Microsoft’s built-in antivirus solution to fail when it comes to the most commonly used scans. You won’t find a cheaper Windows 10 PC than this anywhere Buy Windows 10: the cheapest prices in August 2019 The best antivirus software of 2019 Specifically, both Full and Quick virus scans don’t work properly, with Windows Defender only scanning around 40 files before stopping (so effectively not doing its job at all). This is a pitifully poor situation for a security app, of course, although the slight caveat is that custom scans with Windows Defender appear to be unaffected. Bleeping Computer reported on this issue, and a raft of different threads with users complaining about the problem on Reddit and the Answers.com forum, with the tech site noting that Microsoft has now concocted a fix for the problem. Update (again) now The fix has been delivered as ‘Security Intelligence Update for Windows Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (Version 1.301.1684.0)’, so you need to make sure you’ve patched that particular update for Microsoft’s antivirus solution to work properly. Windows may have grabbed that update for you automatically already, but if not, you can get it manually: in Windows 10, head to the ‘Windows Security’ screen (search for it in the hopefully-not-broken search box in the Taskbar), then select ‘Virus & threat protection’. You can ‘Check for updates’ for Windows Defender here, and grab that latest one. Microsoft made sure to clarify that the problem didn’t affect Windows Defender’s real-time protection, and only interfered with the aforementioned virus scanning functionality. Still, this is obviously a very embarrassing incident for the company, and something of a blight on Windows Defender’s growing reputation as a sterling security solution (with one independent testing lab recently rating the app as one of the best antivirus solutions around).
  6. Well, finally it’s the time for a new computer, you chose a good processor, a good GPU but you don’t know what motherboard to buy, then you’ve come to the right place. Motherboard is the most important computer component, without it you can’t build the computer of your dreams, every cable or fan you plug into the motherboard. You also need to watch out if the motherboard is compatible with your CPU or RAM. Watch out for the socket! The most important thing you need to check is that motherboard socket is right for your chosen CPU. You can check what socket the CPU requires on Intel’s or AMD’s web page. For example, Intel’s most po[CENSORED]r socket is LGA1151 and AMD, on their newest processors, uses AM4 socket. Compatible RAM with motherboard! Make sure that the RAM is compatible with the motherboard and how many RAM slots does the motherboard have. If you have DDR4 RAM, then you must buy a motherboard that supports DDR4 RAM or if you have DDR3 RAM you need to buy DDR3 motherboard. Smaller motherboards tend to have two slots for RAM, but bigger and more expensive motherboards have up to eight or more RAM slots. For video games 16GB is most ideal RAM amount, you don’t need more than that. Motherboard sizes Three most common motherboard sizes are ATX, micro-ATX and mini-ITX motherboards. ATX motherboard is the biggest of the three and offers most RAM and expansion slots. It is also the most expensive of the three but for modern gaming this is the motherboard you want. The other two motherboards are smaller and have less slots but are good motherboards if you want a cheap computer. With the smaller motherboards you can also buy smaller and cheaper cases. Motherboard ports This varies from person to person depending what ports they use at most. Someone wants more USB 3 ports others want more audio ports. Always check how many ports does a motherboard have. There are USB 3, USB 2, audio, USB type C, USB 3.1 Gen1 and Gen2, HDMI, Display port, PS/2 and Thunderbolt 3 ports. Ports you probably want the most are the USB 3 and USB 2 ports. USB 3.1 Gen2 and USB type C ports are good to have for the near future but for now not many peripherals support this standard yet. Motherboard chipsets For Intel motherboards you can choose from the cheaper motherboards that can’t be overclocked or the more expensive ones that can. The ones that can be overclocked are the ones that have the letter “Z” in the chipset name e.g. Z370, Z170-A, Z77, Z87… Motherboards with chipsets with letters “B”, “H”, “Q” … are not overclockable motherboards. Also, if you want to overclock your processor you must be sure that your processors name ends with the letter “K” because that is Intel’s unlocked version of processors or if you are a real enthusiast the “X” series processors and motherboards will also support overclocking (X stands for extreme edition). On the AMD’s side the B350 and B300 chipsets still support overclocking. But with that you will get less ports over the X370 motherboard. Price range With everything said how much to spend on a motherboard? It all depends on what you want. In the price range up to 100$ you can get AMD boards that supports overclocking. But on the Intel’s side you can’t buy a motherboard that supports overclocking in that price range. But you can find Z370 board for just over 100$ 100$-150$ price range. Here you can get higher-end AMD motherboards and lower-end Intel motherboards that can be used for overclocking. 150$-200$ price range. Here are the more premium motherboards with RGB lights and with a more premium look. Better heatsinks, VRMs (voltage regulation modules) – very important for serious overclocking. You will also find motherboards with more ports. 200$+ price range. This are the board for extreme overclocking and board for CPUs like Intel Core X and AMD Threadripper. These boards have a stylish premium look with giant heatsinks.

  9. American supercar company Glickenhaus reveals its entrant to the revised WEC hypercar class for Le Mans. This is the new hypercar from Glickenhaus, designed to race in the upcoming WEC Hypercar class at Le Mans. Pictures suggest the new machine could be named SCG 007 and Glickenhaus has confirmed that it will feature a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine. • Fastest Nurburgring lap times 2019: quickest cars and lap records Glickenhaus is best known for commissioning the one-off Ferrari P4/5 supercar which was designed by Pininfarina. The American firm also has history of racing with the Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG 003 (named after the company’s founder), contesting of the 24 Hours of Nurburgring between 2015 to 2017. This new car will be aimed squarely at a new-look WEC Hypercar class, which will replace the current LMP1 class after 2020 to attract more manufacturers. Currently, only Toyota compete in LMP1 with various ‘privateer’ teams. Along with Glickenhaus, Aston Martin has also confirmed it’s intention of entering the new Le Mans hypercar class with a car based on the Valkyrie. Similarly to the SCG 003, a limited number of road-going versions of the new Glickenhaus car will be made available to customers - in order to abide by WEC homologation rules.
  10. More than eight years after the Fukushima nuclear disaster, a Japanese court has cleared three former executives of the firm operating the plant of professional negligence. It was the only criminal case to arise out of the disaster, which was the worst since Chernobyl in 1986. In 2011 a plant operated by Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) was hit by a tsunami causing a triple meltdown. More than 470,000 people were evacuated from their homes as a result. Nearly 18,500 died or are missing from the wider disaster. The three former executives - ex-chairman Tsunehisa Katsumata, 79, and vice-presidents Sakae Muto, 69 and Ichiro Takekuro, 73 - were indicted for failing to implement tsunami countermeasures leading to the deaths of 44 people. Though no-one died directly in the nuclear meltdown, more than 40 hospital patients died after having to be rushed out of the evacuation zone. Thirteen people were also injured in hydrogen explosions at the plant. The road to clean energy Fukushima's long road to recovery Japan may have to spill radioactive water into sea In the much-anticipated verdict, a Tokyo court found all three men not guilty of professional negligence resulting in death and injury. They were facing five years in prison if convicted. The prosecution argued that as far back as 2002, the bosses had been warned that a large tsunami of more than 15 metres could hit the plant, but had chosen to ignore the evidence - and had not increased their defences. Dozens of protesters had gathered outside the Tokyo court ahead of the ruling. "If we don't hear guilty verdicts, our years-long efforts to bring this to court will not have been rewarded," Saki Okawara, who travelled from the Fukushima region to hear the ruling told AFP. "And Japanese society's culture of no-one taking responsibility will continue." Prosecutors had twice declined to press criminal charges against the former executives, saying there was little chance of success. But a judicial panel ruled against them and they were forced to prosecute. The trial began in June 2017. The accident led to a complete shutdown of all nuclear reactors in the country. Despite widespread anti-nuclear sentiment, several reactors have since resumed operations after passing special safety checks. Tepco is facing various legal cases seeking compensation over the disaster, after several workers developed illnesses after cleaning up the Fukushima plant.

  13. Mozilla earlier this month quietly outlined paid support for enterprise users of Firefox, but last week scrubbed the reference from its website, saying that it is "still exploring that option." The offering - labeled "Mozilla Enterprise Client Support" - was to start at $10 per "supported installation," which likely referred to per-device, not per-user, pricing. It's unclear whether that was an annual or monthly fee, and Mozilla declined to say which it was when asked. In return for the fee, Mozilla said on the now-absent Firefox enterprise site - still visible through the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine - customers would be able to privately report bugs via a new web portal and receive fixes on a timeline dependent on the impact and urgency of the problem. Customers would also be able to file requests for help with Firefox's installation and deployment, management policies, functionality and customization. [ Related: Get serious about privacy with the Epic, Brave and Tor browsers ] Support customers were to have an inside track on feature requests - although Mozilla said it would not commit to delivering said features - and Mozilla would provide them with "proactive notification on critical Firefox events," although the company did not describe what that would entail. A detailed service level agreement (SLA) for Mozilla Enterprise Client Support published on the firm's website included everything from how support requests would be escalated and the targeted response times. Other information, including pricing, required customers to reach out to Mozilla's sales staff. Whoops! Really? But on Monday, Mozilla said it was all premature. [ Become a Microsoft Office 365 administrator in record time with this quick start course from PluralSight. ] "We work in the open, so often ideas under consideration are made public before we've committed fully to their pursuit," a Mozilla spokesperson said in an emailed statement. "The page outlining that these paid support services for enterprise clients will be available was posted incorrectly." But the spokesperson did not dispute that Mozilla might get around to selling support. Firefox's enterprise roadmap "could eventually include additional paid support down the line," Mozilla said, "but we're still exploring that option. "As we continue to improve our enterprise offerings, we will share more details about what those services will entail," the spokesperson said. It was hard to see the posting of the paid support information as an accident. According to the WayBack Machine's archives, the description of Mozilla Enterprise Client Support first appeared on the site on Sept. 4. It was still there on Sept. 11, a week later, a long time for a mistake to go unnoticed or uncorrected. Meanwhile, the program's SLA remained untouched. On Sept. 12, Martin Brinkman of Ghacks broke the news of Firefox paid support. By the next day, Sept. 13, the particulars had been expunged from Mozilla's site. Almost certainly, Mozilla scotched the text after Brinkman's story drew attention to the program. Elsewhere, Mozilla referred to the program as an "initial pilot," signaling that it has been, or would be, tested with some customers before being rolled out to all comers. Money maker? Or money pit? It would not be a surprise if - or when - Mozilla asks enterprises to pony up for better support. It's not as if other developers don't charge for support that goes above and beyond what's available for free to the general public. It might also be new revenue for Mozilla, which for years has cast about for ways to make money other than to sell the search engine default to companies like Google and Yahoo. (Although historically, software support often ends up as a cost center that doesn't generate much if any revenue.) Just as important, paid support could help Mozilla position Firefox as an alternative to Chrome - and to Microsoft's Chromium-built Edge as well - in the enterprise. Manageability is important to corporate IT, but so is access to immediate support when mission-critical tools go south. In many ways, enterprise support is a box that needs to be checked for a developer to be seen as serious about the market, whether a large number of customers pay for such support or not. Questions remain about Mozilla's plans, though. Will Mozilla Enterprise Client Support apply to the rapidly-updated Firefox - the one consumers use - as well as Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR), the build which upgrades about once a year? Or only the business-grade latter? How will paid support integrate with other for-a-fee services that Mozilla plans, or does it need to? And importantly, will enterprises even pay for browser support?
  14. The term bottleneck is everywhere when we’re talking about PC gaming performance, a bottleneck occurs when there is a restrictive element holding back the performance that could otherwise be achieved. If you’re just getting started with planning your first PC build this might be a hard concept to grasp and that’s why this bottlenecking explanation is very important. When you are dealing with bottlenecks it is important to know why one would happen, how to find them and most importantly how to avoid them. The name “bottleneck” comes from the way that fluid flows much slower through the neck of a bottle than it would if that neck didn’t exist, hence another word for a bottleneck is a choke point. For example let’s turn a bottle full of water upside down and open the lid, the water is flowing out of the bottle but only at a rate at which the bottle opening will allow, the wider the opening is the faster the water will flow out of the bottle and the smaller the opening is the water will flow a lot slower. Imagine that instead of water we have frames and these frames are being displayed onto your monitor, displaying the frames is of course your PC but let’s stick with the concept of a bottle for now. The opening of the bottle can represent any component in your system that may restrict the number of frames that could potentially be displayed. The easiest way to explain this is as if you take a very old computer and assuming it’s even compatible you put the very latest thousand dollar graphics card in it the PC. The PC is not going to slow down and the gaming performance will most probably be improved but that card won’t reach it’s highest potential even though the new card might be ten times faster than the old one. Depending on the bottleneck you may only get a small performance increase because the CPU, memory and potentially other components are so slow that they can’t feed the graphics card data at a fast enough rate to keep it busy. CPU BOTTLENECK The most common bottleneck that you’ll see in PC gaming is a CPU bottleneck, meaning that your CPU will be restricting the potential number of frames being drawn from your GPU. The simplest explanation for how this happens is that your CPU is just not powerful enough to keep up with your GPU but let’s dive a little deeper and take a look at what’s really going on. Let’s say that we have a game being rendered at 60 frames per second which is equal to one frame every 16.67 milliseconds. The CPU in addition to many other tasks has to prepare sending a draw call to the GPU which means it is sending some data such as texture and shaders whilst also rendering objects and buffers on the next frame which is to be rendered. The GPU renders this frame and it’s then displayed on to your monitor when it receives the next frame which is to be rendered and while that’s rendering the CPU is already on the next frame for the GPU so here we have no bottleneck and that’s because the CPU is preparing the frames faster than the GPU can render them. As mentioned earlier, in case the CPU is on the weaker side then the GPU will be rendering frames faster than the CPU can prepare them and this right here is the bottleneck. Your GPU could be utilized 100% if your CPU was more powerful but in this case it spends some time idling and not rendering frames because of this bottleneck situation. Let’s say a GPU can render frames every 16.67 milliseconds, but the CPU needs 25 milliseconds to prepare them, now in this 25 millisecond duration the CPU is doing a lot of work in addition to preparing the frame data for the GPU it also needs to process other things such as any AI game logic physics and of course any other background tasks that may be occurring in other programs. All these tasks increase load on the CPU and can therefore increase the amount of time that it takes to send a draw call to the GPU. Essentially, this is why some games are more CPU intensive than others, such as Battlefield 1 which is quite CPU intensive seeing as there is a lot of network data, game logic and physics to handle whereas riding your horse through a forest in Witcher 3 is a lot less CPU intensive. GPU BOTTLENECK Despite CPU bottlenecks being a bad thing when it comes to gaming, a GPU bottleneck is actually desirable. Essentially what this means is that your CPU is processing all of the game and frame data faster than your GPU can render it which results in 100% utilization of your GPU. At first this sounds bad, but because the GPU is what renders and displays the frames to your monitor in the first place and the fact that it’s rendering 100% of the frames that it possibly can is a good thing and it’s exactly what you want when you’re gaming. BOTTLENECK REDUCTION TIPS There are of course a few things that can reduce CPU bottlenecking in your system and improve GPU utilization in gaming if it isn’t at 100% and the first and most obvious one is to close any unnecessary background programs that you have open. By doing this you’ll be able to reduce the load on your CPU and hence process game data a lot faster, this also means that those draw calls that we were talking about earlier will now be sent faster by the CPU as it’s now under less total load and this means that your GPU won’t be waiting around as long for draw calls. Another quick tip is to overclock your CPU if possible because it’ll be able to process the game data a lot quicker which in turn means higher GPU utilization. To test for bottlenecks you should refer to our PC bottleneck calculator, in case you find out that your rig is being bottlenecked it may be time to upgrade the outdated parts.

  16. Two separate suicide attacks in Afghanistan have killed at least 48 people and injured dozens others. In Parwan province, north of the capital Kabul, an election rally where President Ashraf Ghani was due to speak was attacked, and 26 people died. Another blast, near the US embassy in central Kabul, killed 22 people. The Taliban said they were behind both attacks. The group has continued a concerted bombing campaign while at the same time taking part in peace talks. But US President Donald Trump described the negotiations with the Taliban as "dead" earlier this month. A month of killing in Afghanistan What could peace in Afghanistan look like? 'We embraced... but I'd still kill him' The Taliban refuse to talk to the Afghan government and have vowed to disrupt the presidential election in the country on 28 September. In a statement, they said: "We already warned people not to attend election rallies, if they suffer any losses that is their own responsibility." What is known about the explosions? Forty-two people are reported to have been injured in the election rally blast in Charikar, the capital of Parwan province, at 11:40 local time (07:10 GMT). Children were among the casualties, medical staff said. The bomber, on a motorbike, triggered the blast at a checkpoint at the venue. President Ghani, who hopes for a second five-year term, was not hurt. Another suicide bomber targeted Kabul's busy Massood Square, the site of government ministries and Nato compounds, at 13:00 local time. An additional 38 people were injured there, according to the Ministry of Interior Affairs. On Twitter, the president called the perpetrator "a cowardly enemy". What is the security situation in Afghanistan? An average of 74 people were killed every day in the country in August, according to data collected by the BBC. Most of the casualties were those involved in combat, such as Taliban fighters, but a fifth were civilians, including children. The worst day for civilians was 18 August, when 112 were killed, including 92 at a wedding in Kabul. The Taliban are estimated to be openly active across 70% of Afghanistan. In June 2019, the country was named the least peaceful place in the world by the Global Peace Index report. What happened to the peace talks? President Trump called off peace negotiations with the Taliban on 7 September after the militant group launched an attack that killed an American soldier. Talks on ending the 18-year conflict had been under way for weeks in the Gulf state Qatar, and were, by some accounts, coming close to fruition. Afghan peace talks are dead, Trump says The US has had troops in Afghanistan since 2001, when it overthrew the Taliban government. Since then, the Taliban have refused to speak directly with the Afghan government, calling it an American puppet. At the weekend, a spokesperson for President Ghani ruled out making any deal before the election. Why are the elections contentious? The elections have been twice delayed, and if the peace deal had been struck, they were unlikely to go ahead this month. The Taliban fear they will allow the current government to cement its power. They have attacked campaign rallies and polling sites in previous years. The group's spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said such locations were "military targets" because they were protected by security forces.

That goes for PCs running Windows XP (!), Vista, Win7, Server 2003, Server 2008 or Server 2008 R2. There’s a working-but-not-yet-fully-armed exploit for the BlueKeep hole making the rounds right now, and it’s only a matter of time before it’s fully weaponized. With 700,000+ machines unpatched and immediately accessible, BlueKeep is a disaster waiting to happen. Tell your friends. With that very notable exception, now would be an excellent time to make sure Windows automatic update is reined in. I call it crowdsourced bug hunting, and describe it in "The case against knee-jerk installation of Windows patches." Blocking automatic update on Win7 and 8.1 If you’re using Windows 7 or 8.1, click Start > Control Panel > System and Security. Under Windows Update, click the "Turn automatic updating on or off" link. Click the "Change Settings" link on the left. Verify that you have Important Updates set to "Never check for updates (not recommended)" and click OK. [ Further reading: What is Windows Hello? Microsoft’s biometrics security system explained ] Blocking automatic update on Win10 Pro 1803 or 1809 Not sure which version of Win10 you’re running? Down in the Search box, near the Start button, type "About," then click "About your PC." The version number appears on the right under Windows specifications. If you’re on Win10 Pro version 1803, you have three options: Stick with version 1803 a while longer (the last scheduled patch for 1803 arrives on Nov. 12); upgrade to version 1809; or go for 1903, which has had teething problems lately. I have details on the options, what they entail, and how to pursue them in last month’s column, "Is Windows pushing you to upgrade? Don’t be bullied. There’s a middle path." If you’re using Win10 Pro version 1809, or if you’re on 1803 and want to stay there a bit longer, I recommend an update blocking technique that Microsoft recommends for “Broad Release” in its obscure Build deployment rings for Windows 10 updates — which is intended for admins, but applies to you, too. (Thx, @zero2dash.) Step 1. Using an administrative account, click Start > Settings > Update & Security. [ Got a spare hour? Take this online course and learn how to install and configure Windows 10 with the options you need. ] Step 2. On the left, choose Windows Update. On the right, click the link for Advanced options. If you’re using Win10 version 1803 or 1809, you see the settings in the screenshot Step 3. The first box — “Semi-Annual Channel” — is no longer recognized by Microsoft. It has changed the terminology over and over again. In our newly redefined update world, choosing “Semi-Annual Channel” adds 60 days to the “feature update” setting discussed in the next step. I recommend that you nod, wink and, in the first box, choose Semi-Annual Channel. Step 4. To further delay new versions until they’ve been minimally tested, roll the “feature update” deferral setting all the way up to 365 days. That tells the Windows Updater (unless Microsoft makes another “mistake,” as it has numerous times in the past) that it should wait until 425 days after a new version is released (60 days for Semi-Annual Channel + 365 days deferral) before upgrading and reinstalling Windows on your machine. Of course, nobody expects Microsoft to keep its mitts off your 1803 machine until Jan. 12, 2020 ( = the version 1809 release date + 425 days) or refrain from upgrading your 1809 machine until July 19, 2020 ( = version 1903 release date + 425 days): Even though those settings appear here, Microsoft is sure to ignore them and blast you onto the next version, somehow, at some point. We just don’t know how or when quite yet. If you’d like to block a forced upgrade to 1903 for the foreseeable future, follow the instructions in "How to block the Windows 10 May 2019 Update, version 1903, from installing." Step 5. To delay cumulative updates, set the “quality update” deferral to 15 days or so. (“Quality update” = cumulative update = bug fix.) In my experience, Microsoft usually yanks bad Win10 cumulative updates within a couple of weeks of their initial release. By setting this to 10 or 15 or 20 days, Win10 will update itself after the major screams of pain have subsided and (with some luck) the bad cumulative updates have been pulled or reissued. Notably, in February 2019, it took Microsoft 18 days to fix its first-Tuesday bugs. Step 6. Just “X” out of the settings pane. You don’t need to explicitly save anything. Step 7. Don’t click Check for updates. Ever. If there are any real howlers — months where the cumulative updates were irretrievably bad, and never got any better, as they were in July of last year — we’ll let you know, loud and clear. Tired old approach for Win10 Home 1803 and 1809 If you have Win10 Home, version 1803 or 1809, your only reasonable option (other than installing a third-party patch blocker) is to set your internet connection to “metered.” Metered connections are an update-blocking kludge that seems to work to fend off cumulative updates, but as best I can tell still doesn’t have Microsoft’s official endorsement as a cumulative update prophylactic. Worryingly, there are some reports that Microsoft is pushing for upgrades even if they go over metered connections. To set your Ethernet connection as metered: Click Start > Settings > Network & Internet. On the left, choose Ethernet. On the right, click on your Ethernet connection. Then move the slider for Metered connection to On. To set your Wi-Fi connection as metered: Click Start > Settings > Network & Internet. On the left, choose Wi-Fi. On the right, click on your Wi-Fi connection. Move the slider for Metered connection to On. If you set your internet connection to metered, you need to watch closely as the month unfolds, and judge when it’s safe to let the demons in the door. At that point, turn “metered” off, and just let your machine update itself. Don’t click Check for updates. There’s a better way with Win10 version 1903 I still don’t run 1903 on my production machines — it’s still causing undue anguish — but if you’ve taken the plunge, your patching life is considerably simpler. Although Microsoft hasn’t officially documented the changes anywhere I can see, it now appears as if the Win10 version 1903 patch blocking mechanism works. In version 1903 (either Home or Pro), using an administrator account, click Start > Settings > Update & Security. At the top, click the "Pause updates for 7 days" button. That button changes so it says, "Pause updates for 7 more days." Click it two more times, for a total of 21 paused days. That defers all updates on your machines until 21 days after you click the button. You can’t extend the deferral any longer unless you install all the outstanding cumulative updates to that point. Historically, 21 days has sufficed to avoid the worst problems. It looks like Win10 version 1909 will be distributed just like a cumulative update, later this month or early next month. We’ll have more details as the update/upgrade/version/service pack unfolds.

  21. US President Donald Trump has fired his National Security Adviser John Bolton. "I informed John Bolton last night that his services are no longer needed at the White House," he wrote. "I disagreed strongly with many of his suggestions," Mr Trump wrote, adding that a new national security adviser would be appointed next week. The firing comes amid reports of divisions in the Trump cabinet over a cancelled peace plan to invite the Taliban to the US. Mr Bolton, who had served since April 2018, was Mr Trump's third national security adviser after Michael Flynn and HR McMaster. White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham told reporters: "[The president] didn't like a lot of his policies, they disagree." According to a White House schedule, Mr Bolton had been due to host a White House briefing with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin just over two hours before Mr Trump tweeted that the national security adviser had been fired. Sources said that the National Security Council, which advises the president, had become a separate entity within the White House under Mr Bolton. A former senior Trump administration official, who wished to remain anonymous, told the BBC: "He [Bolton] operates separately from the rest of the White House. According to the official, Bolton did not attend meetings, and followed his own initiatives. "He's running his own show," said the official. A White House official told the BBC's US partner, CBS News. "Bolton has his priorities. He didn't ask the president 'What are your priorities.' They're Bolton's priorities." Mr Bolton had opposed peace talks with the Taliban, which Mr Trump scrapped at the weekend after inviting the group to the US. Mr Trump's policy drew criticism especially because of its timing, close to the anniversary of the 11 September 2001 attacks by al-Qaeda, a group that the Taliban had hosted in Afghanistan. John Bolton: Bush-era war hawk fired by Trump The White House revolving door: Who's gone? On Monday, Mr Trump announced that peace talks with the Taliban were "dead" due to a deadly car bomb attack by the group which killed one American soldier and 11 others. According to Foreign Policy magazine, Mr Bolton had argued that inviting a US-designated terror group to Camp David - the presidential retreat outside Washington - would "set a terrible precedent". His opposition led to a growing rift with the secretary of state, who appeared on five separate news programmes on Sunday to defend Mr Trump's outreach to the Taliban. "If you're going to negotiate peace, you often have to deal with some pretty bad actors," Mr Pompeo told ABC. What has Bolton said? Moments after Mr Trump's tweet, Mr Bolton took to Twitter to claim that he had offered his resignation a day earlier, but Mr Trump told him "lets talk about it tomorrow". As the news broke, Mr Bolton texted Fox New host Brian Kilmeade while the latter was live on TV. "John Bolton just texted me, just now, he's watching. He said, 'let's be clear, I resigned,'" Mr Kilmeade said. In separate tweets with Washington Post reporter Robert Costa, Mr Bolton maintained he had tendered his resignation on Monday night. "I will have my say in due course," he said, adding "my sole concern is US national security".
  22. The BMW X6 Vantablack is on display at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but the exhibit space's bizarre, blue lighting with red and green highlights makes the ultra-black, sleek crossover look straight out of a cyberpunk vision of the future. We aren't sure why the company is displaying it this way, but walking into the oddly lit room is a surreal experience. This unique X6 has the Vantablack VBx2 coating over all of its body panels. The covering absorbs 99.96 percent of visible light making the substance the blackest color in the world. The illuminate grille, headlights, and taillights don't wear the materials, so they are still able to shine. Because the color reflects almost no light, the X6 Vantablack looks flat and practically two dimensional even when you see it in the real world. The concept behind the project was to create a different way to conceal a new vehicle's design without resorting to camouflage or installing fake body panels. We are still hoping to get a good look at the Vantablack under direct light because BMW's photos can only tell so much of the story. Seeing is believing. Still, the example in Frankfurt has a very cool aesthetic because the oddly colored lighting doesn't reflect off the body. The X6 looks like a crossover-shaped void in the space. BMW has no intention to sell the new X6 in Vantablack, but the latest iteration of the coupe-inspired crossover goes on in the United States in November. Buyers have three powertrain options at launch: the rear-drive sDrive40i, all-wheel-drive xDrive40i, and all-wheel-drive M50i. Prices start at $65,290 (including the $995 destination fee) and grow to $86,465 for the M50i..
