  7. We live in an interconnected world in which vulnerabilities and cyber attacks happen so frequently that they are now considered commonplace. For this reason, security has long been a major concern and has been implemented at the hardware level. Today we are going to talk to you about the TPM or Trusted Platform Module, a piece that is already essential today to protect our data as users. One of the most commonly used security measures to protect our data is its encryption, which can be done using different methods but always with the same purpose: even if the data "leaves" the computer where it originated, it cannot be read unless you have a private key. And this, precisely, is the objective of the TPM, but we are going to see it in depth. What is the TPM and what is its function? TPM is the acronym for Trusted Platform Module or Trusted Platform Module in Spanish, and is the name of a specification that details a secure cryptoprocessor capable of storing encryption keys with which to protect our information. As you will already suppose, the TPM is a physical chip that is found on the motherboards of our computers, but it is a passive chip that is deactivated at the factory and only if the user wants, he can choose to activate it, or the most common is that the motherboard base has a TPM head in which we can put a chip bought separately (although on some boards it is also included). Motherboard TPM header The main function of this chip is to provide a physical place in which to store credentials, certificates and encryption keys that serve both to encrypt other data and to store our passwords themselves. One of the faculties that make this chip so secure is that it can only communicate with the processor, solely and exclusively, so that no other hardware component can have access to it without the permission of the processor, so to speak. The use of a TPM chip is, for example, as DRM (copyright protection to prevent piracy), file and folder encryption (for example with Windows EFS encryption file system), secure email (the client it must support digital signature features such as Outlook), secure WWW (browsing with SSL), and even for other features such as virtual private networks (VPN), one-time passwords, and client authentication. What do you need and how can you activate it on your PC Obviously, you need your motherboard to be compatible with TPM and that either already integrates the chip or has at least the TPM connector that we have mentioned before, generally located in the lower area of the motherboard. TPM connector In the event that you do not have the chip but you do have the head, they can be purchased individually but we recommend doing it from trusted brands. Here are a couple of examples, one from ASUS and one from ASRock. ASUS TPM chip Buy it at Amazon Logo EUR 16.47 Amazon logo ASRock TPM chip Buy it at Amazon Logo EUR 17.64 Amazon logo Even though you have the chip, as we have mentioned before it is passive and is disabled at the factory, so you will have to enable it manually. To do this, you must access the UEFI BIOS of your PC and then the security section (Security), although in some BIOS you will find it simply in Settings -> Advanced options. If all goes well, there you can activate TPM on your computer. Enable TPM With this you will already have TPM activated in the BIOS and you can start using it. Since mid-2016, TPM support comes by default in the Windows 10 operating system, and to access its configuration simply click with the right mouse button on the start button and select run. In the window that opens, type "tpm.msc" (without the quotes) and press accept. If it is correctly activated, here you will be able to access the command administration and use this trusted platform in whatever you need.
  8. Huawei has just provided the beta of Harmony OS, its own operating system, to developers, although in its version it will have a different interface design from the one currently shown by EMUI based on Android. Following its announcement last week of the Harmony OS 2.0 beta for smartphones, Huawei showed the press in China a version similar to what can be seen in EMUI, the company's Android-based customization layer. However, and as explained in ItHome, those images only showed the capabilities of the system. Company personnel have confirmed to the aforementioned media that the official version of Harmony OS for 'smartphones' has a different interface design. "In the last five years, Huawei's software team has replaced most of the core parts of Android," said Wang Chenglu, president of the Consumer Software business. Huawei launched last week the Harmony OS 2.0 beta in China, a version focused on developers with P40, P40 Pro, Mate 30, Mate 30 Pro and MatePad Pro devices. Following the company's plans, in April 2021 will add official support for computers up to 4GB and already in October 2021 it will be available for all devices, including those with more than 4GB of RAM.
  9. Game Informations : Developer: Jason Ocampo Platforms: PC Initial release date: March 26, 2014 at 3:12PM PDT When Chris Sawyer and MicroProse published RollerCoaster Tycoon in 1999, virtually no one could have imagined the impact it would have. While there were earlier games built around the idea of constructing roller coasters or theme parks, Sawyer brilliantly merged the two ideas into an addictively simple game that sold a gazillion copies. It also launched a wave of competitors, from Microsoft's Zoo Tycoon to the latest takeoff, SeaWorld Adventure Parks Tycoon. It's probably a good thing that SeaWorld is published under Activision's budget label, because it comes off as an extremely lightweight imitation of the original. If you've played any of the recent games with "tycoon" in the title, you'll instantly recognize the interface and mechanics of SeaWorld Adventure Parks Tycoon. Your job is to create a moneymaking theme park, from scratch, by designing everything from the layout of the park to which rides and amusements are available. You control everything from ticket prices to concession prices, and you can even charge customers, known as peeps, to use the bathroom. Once it's all set up, just sit back and watch the peeps enjoy your park while you tweak and fiddle along the way. It turns out that it's a good and bad thing being the only game to bear the official SeaWorld Adventure Parks license. While you get to use most of the rides and attractions found at SeaWorld's three main parks, including Shamu Adventure and Shipwreck Rapids, that's all you get. You can't design your own coasters, and, as SeaWorld has a limited number of rides and attractions, there's not a lot to choose from. After a few levels, it begins to feel like you're reconfiguring the same park again and again. To paraphrase Henry Ford, "you can build any adventure park you want, so long as it's SeaWorld." The game comes with 12 levels that are split into three groups of varying difficulty, so it's easy for new gamers to ramp up to more difficult challenges. Most of the levels have objectives that are fairly easy to reach, though some of the latter levels put you under considerable time constraints to accomplish your goals. These time limits can be frustrating, as you've got to build an almost perfect park to reach your objectives. There is a sandbox mode that allows you to build to your heart's content without worrying about objectives or time limits, though, once again, the limited amount of content doesn't allow for a lot of variation in park design. SeaWorld Adventure Parks Tycoon retains the traditional 2D look and feel of most tycoon games, and it does look very pretty. There's an excellent level of detail in the graphics, though there are some maddening omissions. You can't rotate the map in 90-degree increments--a feature that's almost standard in every other game in the genre. This makes it almost impossible to fine-tune construction behind large buildings because you can't see what's going on. In addition, you can't rotate certain buildings at all during construction, so you're forced to place them as they are. Some of the animation is well done; for instance, you can actually see the dolphins leaping out through hoops. The peeps, however, don't exhibit the same amount of emotion and interaction as they do in other games. Like a virtual person in The Sims, an individual peep just walks around looking to satisfy a current need, whether it be going to the bathroom or finding something to eat. Additionally, it's hard to tell your customers apart from your park staff since zooming in is of little help, as the graphics are a bit pixelated up close. Musically, the game's soundtrack seems to consist of a few colorful tracks that capture a nice Caribbean/nautical mood. The sound effects are adequate, though there's a lot of background chatter as your peeps walk around. Overall, though, they're par for the genre. SeaWorld Adventure Parks Tycoon packs about 15 to 20 hours' worth of gameplay, and it's not a bad game for younger gamers. And with the slim amount of content, it's a good thing that Activision is only charging $20 for it. System Requirements Processor Type. Pentium III. Processor Speed. 500 Hz. Min RAM Size. 64 MB. Min Hard Drive Space. 700.

  13. Surely you have noticed that the vast majority of graphics cards that require additional power have the power connectors at the top of the PCB, so that when we connect the cables they are literally in the middle and it becomes very difficult to channel them. Why do you design graphics cards this way? Most modern graphics cards, except low-end ones, need extra power because the motherboard's PCI-Express socket is not capable of supplying them with all the power they need to function. For this reason, the manufacturers integrated the PCIe power connectors on the graphics PCB, and as a general rule they are located at the top of it, either in the right area, sticking to the end or even in the center as in the Founder Edition from NVIDIA. Be that as it may, this arrangement of the power connectors ends up being bad when it comes to channeling the cables, since they inevitably remain hanging and appear "through" in our assembly. Why then are they not placed, for example, at the rear? Or even from behind, on the backplate? The location of the power connectors It is true that it is not in all graphics cards, because in some cases - even in reference models - the power connectors were on the back. However, in practically most graphics they are located at the top, which will face the side of the PC once the graphics is installed on the motherboard. GPU power connectors Certainly, if they were placed from the back it would be much more comfortable to be able to channel the cables, since as they are, in fact, we will have to rotate them practically 180 degrees. For this purpose, there are some angled connectors that allow the cable arrangement to "rotate", although not many trusted manufacturers sell them. With these "elbows" you can connect the cables glued to the backplate of the graphic and thus, at least, avoid having to bend the cables and that they remain hanging all over the middle, being able to channel them a little better. PCIe elbow In any case, if the connectors were at the back (pointing towards the front case fans) or even on the backplate, it would be much more convenient to be able to connect and channel them. That being said, why don't they put them there? The universal design of PCBs The answer is by the "universality" when manufacturing the PCB. Many times we have told you that in the PC industry there are many standards, but the arrangement of the components is nothing that has a standard that defines it, so manufacturers must do the best they can to adapt their components to the rest of the world. PC ecosystem. For example, we have already mentioned that a manufacturer of processor heatsinks must design their products based on how the sockets are designed, and taking into account where the RAM is, the width of the boxes, etc., and that there is no a standard in this regard. The same thing happens with the PCB of the graphics cards: the manufacturer does not know how long is the PC case where you are going to install your graphics card, but there is as a general rule a kind of agreement regarding the minimum width, since the case width depends on how high you can install the heatsink. This means that taking into account the height of the graphics cards, you will always have some space before colliding with the side of the case, space that they take advantage of to put the power connectors taking into account the cable that protrudes. Putting the power connectors on the back could collide with the front fans, the hard drive rack, or whatever the case manufacturer installed in that area. Detail PCI-E connectors In short, the location of the power connectors is put there so that the graphics cards, including the PCIe power connectors, are as universal as possible and are compatible with the largest number of boxes on the market. If you do not like what there is, you can look for alternative solutions such as the elbows that we have shown above, you just have to search a little and you will find the most creative solutions (including supports with a built-in PCIe connector).
  14. Moooi.com, Epsy and Kayak are the three applications that Google has recognized in its 2020 Material Design Awards, for the adaptation they have made of the design system created by the technology company for Android. Google has delivered the Material Design awards since 2015, after the debut a year before the design language for the Android ecosystem of the same name. This year's edition received “hundreds of open nominations” in three categories: 'Thematic', 'Movement' and 'Dark theme', as explained by the director of User Experience, Rich Fulcher, in a statement on the official blog of Material Design. In the first category, Google has selected Moooi.com, the 'app' of a lighting and furniture business, of which it has highlighted that "it focuses on the aesthetic foundations to create an immersive experience", and stands out, according to Google, in the use of color, typography and images. The winning app in the 'Movement' category is Epsy, designed to improve the lives of people with epilepsy, which “uses movement in a meaningful way, guiding users through critical tasks to improve their quality of life, such as record triggers, take medications and build a community connection ”. In 'Dark Theme', Google has selected Kayak, the popular price comparison app, for translating its brand to dark theme, "using subtle but intentional color applications." Thus, orange is mentioned, for the prominent elements; blue, for secondary accents; or the use of dark blue-gray surfaces instead of pure black.
  15. Game Informations : Developer: Britton Peele Platforms: PC Initial release date: May 19, 2014 at 8:29PM PDT Some adventure games are epic journeys across varying locales. Memento Mori 2: Guardians of Immortality tries to be. It tries to tell a Da Vinci Code-esque story of murder and intrigue with clues hidden in artwork and a quasi-religious journey spanning several countries. Sadly, Memento Mori 2: Guardians of Immortality is a below-average adventure plagued by bad localization from its original European release. You primarily play as two recently married characters, Lara and Max, with the majority of time spent controlling the former. Lara is a detective who specializes in art-related crime, while her husband, Max, who's an artist, is mostly tagging along because they're on vacation together. What begins as a simple art theft investigation (because that's the best way for newlyweds to spend time together away from home) evolves into an increasingly convoluted tale of conspiracy, murder, and spirituality. It's a standard point-and-click adventure in just about every way. Click on places you want to go, things you want to look at, or items you want to use. Some items can be carried in your inventory, often with no satisfying explanation of why ("Oh look, fresh asphalt! Don't mind if just stick some of that in my pocket for later"). Items can also be examined close up, and occasionally they can be combined, which helps you solve a variety of puzzles with often unconventional solutions. All in all, it's really just par for the course for the genre, which isn't inherently a bad thing, though it's certainly unoriginal. Memento Mori 2: Guardians of Immortality is a below-average adventure plagued by bad localization from its original European release. The real issue is that Memento Mori 2 is cobbled together from subpar pieces, a fact made worse by poor localization in terms of both translation and voice acting. Character models might look OK when standing still, but every animation looks stilted and unnatural. The dialogue and overall story range from uninteresting to bad, and many awkward phrases betray the fact that their writers are not native English speakers. And that's to say nothing of various bugs and errors, including one particularly troublesome issue where certain characters sometimes say the wrong line at the wrong time. The subtitle will be correct, but the audio is completely out of place, and may accidentally give away dialogue that is supposed to be uttered later. A slightly less jarring but still awkward issue is that many lines sound as if they aren't said by their actual actors, but rather by stand-ins trying (and failing) to imitate them. One line is delivered by the actor you're used to, and then the voice is different for the very next sentence before switching back again. Even basic audio mixing is a problem; characters on the other end of phone calls are practically inaudible. In concept, though, Memento Mori 2 aims high, and there are brief moments when there seems to be an unpolished gem somewhere under the dirt of bad animation and voice work. During the globe-trotting plot, you are occasionally faced with choices that feel as if they might have interesting and important repercussions--but they don't. Sure, your ending might change slightly if you decide to hand over a resignation letter, and a scene where you can (if you choose to) hide certain pieces of evidence almost succeeds in adding tension to the situation, but for the most part, these choices feel more like missed opportunities than meaningful actions. That might be OK if more than a handful of puzzles in the game were interesting. Sadly, many of Memento Mori 2's puzzles are good only on paper. For example, a relatively early puzzle has you dusting for and then comparing fingerprints, an action that is reasonable in the context of the story's investigation (though the character analyzing this evidence has no reason to know this skill) and can require a certain level of thought to execute. In practice, however, holding fingerprint samples side by side is less exciting than your everyday "spot the difference" style of puzzle. Furthermore, the common adventure game frustration of being stuck purely because you didn't spot the tiny item or clue on a single screen is here in full effect, though it's alleviated somewhat by the ability to highlight clickable objects with a button press. But even that pales in comparison to the many actions you perform that are just plain boring. At one point in the game, you need to print some photos. But oh no, that darn printer is giving an error message. It's a paper jam, so you should open it up to fix that problem. Just find the switch to open the cover. But wait! You need to remove the toner first. You can't just pull the toner cartridge out, so find the switch that releases it. There, OK, now you can remove the paper jam and print what you need to print--after you put the toner back, obviously. It's all the tedium of an office job without the exhilaration of a paycheck. Toward the end, Memento Mori 2's plot almost gets interesting. After hours of the game's own protagonist complaining that none of the plot details make sense, the game promises to explain everything and tie it all together after you stop a killer and maybe save the world or something. But that explanation isn't at all satisfying, leaving you with nothing to show from a rather boring expedition around the globe. If this is what immortality is about, then you have to wonder why anyone would bother to guard it in the first place. System Requirements OS: Microsoft Windows® XP SP2 or newer. 22. The three new generation consoles that have been presented this year are already on the market, but until now it has been an almost impossible mission to buy one due to lack of stock. However, it seems that now they have restocked the Xbox Series S, the smallest of Microsoft's consoles, and not only is it with units available but you can also receive it before Christmas. If you were looking for one of the new consoles to give away this Christmas, hurry because they are going to fly! Unlike the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5, the Xbox Series S has a somewhat lower performance, but it is still the smallest Xbox in history in the words of Microsoft itself. It has humbler hardware than its older sister but is still ready for next-gen gaming thanks to the Xbox Velocity architecture, and now that it's in stock it could make an extraordinary gift this Christmas. Xbox Series S, the smallest and totally digital Xbox Despite the fact that the Xbox Series S has less powerful hardware than the Series X, still according to Microsoft it is designed to offer an excellent gaming experience at 1440p resolution and with up to 120 FPS (despite this it also plays video at 4K resolution ). This small console mounts a custom AMD Zen 2 SoC with 8 cores and 16 processing threads at a maximum speed of 3.6 GHz (3.4 GHz when SMT is activated), while its also custom GPU has 20 CUs at 1,565 MHz speed with AMD RDNA 2 architecture, which provides up to 4 TFLOPs of raw power in FP32 single precision calculations. This powerful SoC comes complete with 10 GB of GDDR6 memory (shared for CPU and GPU) with 128 bits; 8 GB has a bandwidth of 224 GB / s while the remaining 2 GB only 56 GB / s. The console has a 512 GB capacity internal NVMe SSD that promises up to 2.4 GB / s of raw bandwidth and up to 4.8 GB / s compressed, thanks to its custom hardware decompression block. This storage is expandable with Seagate 1 TB expansion cards, something important because we must remember that this console is totally digital in the sense that it does not have an optical reader to be able to play physical games with it. Xbox Series S expanded storage As we mentioned before, the console is designed to provide an excellent gaming experience up to 1440p and 120 FPS, in addition to its low latency automatic mode for HDMI 2.1 with compatibility with AMD FreeSync. It supports Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 sound, Dolby TrueHD with Atmos and L-PCM up to 7.1. Regarding connectivity, it incorporates HDMI 2.1 as a video output, it has a Gigabit Ethernet connection and dual-band 802.11ac WiFi. Plus, it has a dedicated dual-band Xbox wireless connection to connect to the controller and accessories. Finally, it should be mentioned that the console has dimensions of 6.5 x 15.1 x 27.5 centimeters and that it weighs 1,982 kg. Price and availability Currently the Xbox Series S is available in several stores in Spain, but that we have seen only on Amazon guarantees that you will receive it before Christmas and, in fact, if you order before 8:45 pm today it will arrive tomorrow.
  23. Although these Christmases will not be like the previous ones due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the measures that must be taken to prevent its spread, this Saturday the Extraordinary Christmas Lottery Draw is held, an event that both the children of San Ildefonso from Madrid as those who have bought a tenth throughout the year hope with the desire to sing 'El Gordo' or that their number will be the winner. As every December 22, the children of San Ildefonso will sing a total of 13 awards, from 'El Gordo' (four million euros to the series) to the Fifths (60,000 euros to the series) and the stones that will fall on the numbers extracted from the drum, which contains 100,000 (from 00000 to 99,999). Most people have more than one tenth and checking if any of the tickets have been awarded to the rhythm that the children of San Ildefonso sing can be complicated. For this reason, one of the best ways to check if the number of your ticket matches the one called is through the Europa Press website, although there are also several mobile applications that allow you to do it quickly and easily. The Sociedad Estatal de Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (SELAE) has an official application for both iOS and Android that allows you to check the results of the Christmas Lottery. In order to use this application, users must be over 18 years of age and register on the official website of State Lotteries and Betting. With the TuLotero application, users can scan the Christmas Lottery number with their phone's camera to check if the ticket has been awarded. This application can also be used for the Children's lottery, the Quiniela, the Primitiva and EuroMillions, among others. This 'app' is available for both iOS and Android, although users of the latter operating system must get the full version of the application through the TuLotero website to be able to buy tickets from the 'app', since Google does not allow lottery applications on its Google Play store.
  24. Game Informations : Developer: Cameron Woolsey Platforms: PC Initial release date:July 21, 2014 at 4:08PM PDT Many of us desire peace in our twilight years. In Wayward Manor, the sentiment is equally true for an old, sentient house, which yearns for a tranquil retirement. This means that the boisterous family that lives there has to go, and it's your job as the manor's loyal poltergeist to move them out. Wayward Manor is a modest puzzle game, featuring plenty of good-natured charm and slapstick humor. But you're not the only one haunting the manor's creaking halls; an array of game-ending glitches provide more worriment than the game's dancing shadows, while the lack of challenge turn the second half into a snooze. As the manor's sole guardian, you must move from room to room, scaring away the unwanted guests. You approach this goal by manipulating certain objects in a room marked with an eerie spectral glow. Using your paranormal abilities, you prey upon the family's deep-seated fears and anxieties, or frighten them with tactful snares, including mousetraps and a pirate ghost that slashes at them from a painting. You can rattle a stone bust, which grabs a victim's attention long enough for you to send a bottle flying toward her head, shaking her constitution. The sight of a rat sends the family maid into a panic, so why not have one scurry across her path, causing her to jump with fright? A successful scare rewards you with a green skull. The more skulls you earn, the stronger your presence in a room, allowing you to manipulate even more objects as you frighten the pants off various intruders. Once you collect six skulls, you activate a ghastly whirlwind that whips up loose objects, sending your hapless victim screaming out the door for good. At first, there is a sense of discovery in solving Wayward Manor's puzzles, but the excitement dissipates more quickly than a specter in the sunlight. By the time you hit the third chapter, a cursory glance is all that is required to figure out each level's mystery. Gameplay stagnates, and there are only so many times you can whack one of the dopey characters on the head with a bottle before boredom seeps in. As you enter the game's third chapter, the lack of variety turns puzzle solving into more of a mechanical motion, over one that promotes the enjoyable analysis of the working parts. If you do find yourself at a loss, creatures such as cats, birds, and gargoyles located in the rooms offer advice on how to approach the puzzle. The story is penned by Coraline author Neil Gaiman, and the game draws influences from the surreal book-turned-film. Narration is spoken in a storybook style, and Gaiman himself lends his smoky voice to the living manor during brief moments of exposition between chapters. Though the dated visuals of Wayward Manor won't win any awards, the game fully embraces its peculiar art style, which I found alluring. The multistoried manor is warped and cartoonish, yet still macabre, its dusty rooms lit by flickering candles or by azure moonlight creeping in through windows. The family inhabiting the manor is made up of diminutive caricatures exhibiting charming mannerisms, their voices replaced by the sounds of various musical instruments. Unfortunately, I won't remember Wayward Manor for its interesting characters or art style, but for the menagerie of bugs and game-ending glitches that invoke far more tension than what my spectral hijinks could match. The most innocent of the issues include the whirlwind, which forces objects to clip through walls and people, and some occasional animation foibles, such as characters sprinting backward. Among the worst, however, is the surprisingly frequent gameplay bug that causes the puzzle and characters to freeze, unperturbed by my dismayed flurry of mouse clicks--there is nothing more to do than restart the level. In my playthrough of the game, I encountered the bug more than a dozen times. The final level was especially irritating, because a necessary puzzle piece refused to move into position, requiring me to restart about five times before the object finally clicked into place. Wayward Manor, with its brevity and elementary one-button approach to gameplay, is not a complicated game. It's unfortunate, however, that the number of bugs infesting it make things so problematic and frustrating. The game's spooky ambiance and appealing nature are enjoyable, but not enough to overshadow the humdrum puzzle solving, nor to distract you from glitches. Wayward Manor puts a lot of trust in your abilities to remove unwanted guests, but it would have found equal success in calling pest control. System Requirements OS: XP. Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2Ghz+ or better. Memory: 2 GB RAM. Graphics: 256 MB Video Card. DirectX: Version 9.0. Storage: 2 GB available space. Sound Card: DirectX Compatible.
