  1. Cyberpunk 2077 Has Some Visual Settings You Might Want To Change Here's how to change them. Cyberpunk 2077 has launched with a flurry of strange technical issues and weird visual bugs, although there are ways to improve your experience right away. CD Projekt Red has made some odd visual settings the default option players start with--here's how to change them. Chromatic aberration, film grain, and motion blur are all turned on when you start the game. The combination of the three give the game a strange tint that messes with many of the colors in Night City. Several players have made this change and have posted screenshots displaying the impact the settings change made on their time with the game. You can change these settings quickly by opening the settings menu and navigating to the "Graphics" tab where all three settings can be switched off. Making this change should make an immediate impact on how Cyberpunk 2077 looks. It won't, however, impact the games' many visual quirks. Cyberpunk 2077 released to a mostly positive response from critics, although technical issues have hit the game hard. CD Projekt Red has promised that fixes for many of the game's issues are coming in today's day one patch. "I was playing on a gaming laptop well above the minimum specs announced for Cyberpunk 2077, while another GameSpot player experienced the same severity and frequency of bugs (though no hard crashes) on an even higher-end desktop PC," said Kallie Plagge in GameSpot's Cyberpunk 2077 review. "Your mileage may vary, but in our experience, the bugs are obtrusive and substantial across the board, often forcing us to reload saves or exit the game entirely. It's hard to get really into a world you constantly have to leave."

  2. A cheaper entry-level iPad with an iPhone 11-era chipset could come in early 2021 A lower price and A13 Bionic chipset: hello new iPad? Apple just announced a new 10.2-inch iPad in September, but another one might be coming our way early next year: a new leak suggests an entry-level iPad could arrive in Q1 2021 with a larger 10.5-inch display, upgraded specs with an A13 Bionic chipset, and possibly a lower price. The leak comes courtesy of Chinese tech site CNBeta, which claims a thinner and lighter design that retains the Touch ID button, a spring (early 2021) release date, and a potential starting price of $299 (around £224 / AU$396). In addition to the The A13 Bionic chipset, which debuted in the iPhone 11 series, the leak claims that the 9th-generation 10.5-inch iPad will get 4GB of RAM and start with 64GB of storage, an upgrade on the 3GB of RAM and starting 32GB of space in the 8th-gen tablet that was just announced. In other words, an all-around upgrade on Apple’s signature entry-level tablet. A new iPad would likely make our best tablets list Why I'm skipping the AirPods Max in favor of Apple's last-generation earbuds The best cheap iPad deals in December iPad 9th generation: cheaper? Better? Soon? It wouldn’t be surprising if Apple launched another new iPad in 2021, especially since it released refined versions in 2019 and 2020. The question is timeline: releasing a 9th-generation iPad less than 6 months after launching the 8th generation sounds unlikely. That said, Apple has been loosening its product release windows: where it had previously only announced new products around WWDC in May before its big launch events in September, the company did quietly launch the iPhone SE 2020 in April. And then, of course, Apple spread its late-year releases over several months, with the new iPad in September, iPhones in October, and Macs at the ‘One More Thing’ event in November. Which wasn’t actually the last Apple product out this year - the company revealed ‘one more thing’ in the AirPods Max over-ear headphones. In sum: Apple might continue to stray from the release windows it used to favor, but it’s still unlikely the company will undercut device sales by releasing a new one less than a year after the previous one came out.

  7. Halo Infinite Dev Addresses Graphics Criticism, Shows New Visual Updates Halo dev 343 Industries admits that the Halo Infinite gameplay demo wasn't up to scratch, but showed off what the team has been working on to improve. Halo Infinite developer 343 Industries has provided an update on the project, revealing a new release window, talking about microtransactions, and showcasing the first multiplayer map in a post on the Halo Waypoint. Alongside all of this, the company supplied a number of new images, which fans of Microsoft's iconic first-person shooter franchise are sure to pore over in the coming days. The images include environments from the game, weapon models, and a close look at some of the Spartan armors that will be available when the game launches. Much of the discussion around Halo Infinite when the first gameplay was shown was about its somewhat questionable visual fidelity and this is something acknowledged by 343 Industries. "The primary goal for the Campaign demo in July was showing Halo Infinite gameplay for the first time. While that aspect generally landed as we wanted, the reality is that the art and visuals weren’t at the bar we hold for Halo – even in a work-in-pr "Much of the feedback we heard from the community aligned with our own views and work we were already committed to doing around things like indirect lighting, material response, foliage and tree rendering, clouds, level-of-detail transitions, and character fidelity. Still, the feedback was humbling, and it also pushed us to look at additional opportunities for improvement." However, the studio added that the team has been "heads down working on everything from lighting to fog to wear-and-tear on Spartan armor." It continued, "July was indeed a very much work-in-progress slice of the technology, and a reasonable set of key features from global illumination and dynamic time of day, to GPU-driven rendering and variable rate shading were all in active development. "Much of the graphics team’s capacity, along with that of some key technical artists, was focused on achieving high resolution and performance leading up to the demo, which meant several of these features didn’t quite get the level of polish and bug fixing that was warranted. "Visual fidelity is a very important goal for Halo Infinite, and the graphics and art teams have been continually aspiring, and working closely with each other, to create the best-looking Halo game ever. I definitely want to acknowledge the input that we got from the Halo community and our fanbase; staying open to critical feedback and looking at areas where we can learn and do better is an inherent part of our culture at 343." How that looks in motion remains to be seen, and it may be some time before we get another look at Halo Infinite gameplay, but the images do look significantly improved. The environments and models look sharp, detailed, and vibrant, while also sticking close to the Halo aesthetic fans know and love. ogress state. According to Joseph Staten, a longtime Halo developer that returned to the franchise to work on Halo Infinite, the game is now expected to release in Fall 2021. As part of the same Halo Waypoint update, 343i revealed the interiors of an as of yet unnamed multiplayer map. It is believed the final game will have a mixture of interior and exterior locations, as has been the case with most Halo games. As previously confirmed, the multiplayer component of Halo, which is usually incredibly po[CENSORED]r and enduring, will be free for the first time in the franchise's history. Halo Infinite's free multiplayer mode will also run at 120fps. GameSpot's Eddie Makuch discussed why this will be such a boon for Microsoft, which you can read for further insight into the potential ramifications of the decision.

We reviewed the Fractal Design Meshify C back in 2017, where we praised the case's top/front radiators as well as its optional support for a triple fan unit. We share the best deals on tech we can find every day, so be sure to check back for more discounts. 11. Lego Technic Jeep Wrangler ready for the yellow brick road It sees the All-American off-roader join a range that includes modern supercars and classic muscle cars. The Lego Technic Land Rover Defender will now have a rival for the best brick-built 4×4. Lego promises that the Wrangler Rubicon will offer those who build it the chance to engage in “endless off-road adventures”. ‘An icon in the off-road world’ That the Jeep Wrangler is a chunky, boxy, SUV certainly helps in the transition to Lego form. Rubicon trim is a more off-road biased version of the Wrangler, making it well-suited for an exciting build. Like the real thing, the Lego Wrangler features suspension with extreme axle articulation, a substantial roll cage, and folding seats. Working steering can be operated at the press of a button, too. Despite the Jeep brand hitting its 80th anniversary, this is the first time one of its vehicles has been officially released in Lego form. A trademark seven-slot front grille, plus Jeep decals, ensure it looks the real deal. ‘Fun, freedom and unbridled adventure’ Choosing the Wrangler as the basis for the first Lego Jeep seems to have been a relatively easy decision for all concerned. Mark Allen, Head of Jeep Design, commented that Wrangler owners are likely to admit “that their vehicle is just a bigger version of this new Lego set”. Allen adds that: “The design of the Jeep Wrangler allows them to take it apart, top off, doors off, reconfigure it, add new pieces from our Mopar team, and then put it back together again.” The new Lego Wrangler will be notably cheaper than the real version when it goes on sale, priced at £44.99 in the UK, and $49.99 in the USA. Sadly, like many of the latest Lego releases, it will not be on the market in time for Christmas. Instead, sales will begin on 1st January 2021.

  12. How to Be a Good College Student So you're a first-time freshman in college. You want to have fun, but you want people to take you seriously. You need to earn good grades, especially if you're on scholarship, so you need to learn how to balance your social life with your academics. You need to make sure you're preparing for the world after college, too. If it sounds like a lot of responsibility and work, that's because it is. Fortunately, with a little planning and know-how, you can make your college career a spectacular success. Meet new people. It's totally normal to feel overwhelmed, especially if you're a freshman at a huge college or university. Don't let that feeling keep you from making new friends. College is a place where you can meet a variety of diverse, unique people. Embrace the newness. Remember: you probably aren't the only person who's a little nervous about making new friends. Attend mixers and socials, especially the ones specifically for freshmen. These are great places to meet people who haven't yet found their “set.” You'll feel at ease and meet a bunch of people in the same boat as you are. Introduce yourself to people in your dorm. Keep your door cracked when you're in your room to encourage people to drop by and say “hi.” Even if you know just one person, ask him or her to introduce you to friends s/he thinks you might get along with. You'll build your networks really quickly. Join a club or society. Pledging a fraternity or sorority is a common way to build a friend network fast, but it isn't the only way. College is full of opportunities to get involved in something you enjoy. Religious organization, clubs, interest societies, sports teams, and academic groups all offer opportunities to get to know like-minded people. Volunteer. Volunteering is sometimes required as part of your curriculum in college, but even if it isn't, you'll meet plenty of new people this way. As an added bonus, volunteering looks great on a resume and can teach you valuable skills you can use for your job hunt after you graduate. Many colleges have volunteer coordinators or offices of “service learning” who can connect you with volunteer opportunities that match your interests and skill sets. Volunteering can also open your eyes to new possibilities for careers and passions. For example, you might discover by volunteering at your local animal shelter that you have a passion for caring for animals and want to become a vet. You won't know until you try. Find a passion. College is a great place to try out new things. Explore the many opportunities you have right at your fingertips! Have you always wanted to act? Audition for a play or join an improv group. Do you secretly want to learn flamenco dancing? Take a class. Maybe you've always thought it would be cool to be a writer. Join a literary magazine or school newspaper. Remember that you won't be an expert in everything you try out, and that's okay! College is a wonderful place to embrace vulnerability and try new stuff, even if you aren't great at it. Build your portfolio in school. You may not have any idea what you want to do for a career, and as a freshman, that's okay. However, the sooner you can decide on a path, the sooner you'll be able to gear your college experience toward it. This doesn't mean everything in college has to be about your future plans, but you should keep them in the back of your mind when making choices. Choose classes, even electives, that will give you knowledge and experience you can use in your career path. Don't be afraid to be open to new experiences. Sure, a poetry class may not seem like it will help you with your advertising major, but studying poetry encourages creativity and expression -- things that you'll need to succeed in advertising. Save projects or papers that you're really proud of. You can use these as proof of skills that you're marketing, like clear communication skills or the ability to tackle complex problems. Pick a major you love. It's so much harder to do well at something that you don't care about. Choosing a major shouldn't be all about the money or your parents' expectations. You're an adult now, and part of that means making important decisions for yourself. Talk with an academic advisor or counselor. Visit the career center. Get enough information for you to know what your major entails and what kinds of opportunities you can expect once you graduate. It's unfortunately common for people to deride humanities or arts majors (English, philosophy, theatre, etc.) by saying “You'll never get a job with that.” They're wrong. Part of college is learning to become a fully developed, well-rounded human. Humanities and arts majors encourage important skills like critical thinking, creative problem-solving, analysis, innovation, and reflection. You'd be surprised at the jobs you can land with skills like these. (Check out Inside Jobs' list of “100 Careers for English Majors” if you're still in doubt.) Choose what you love, whether it's Accounting or Zoology.

  13. Indian Navy finalises procurement of anti-drone systems The delivery of the SMASH 2000 fire control systems is expected to begin early next year The Indian Navy has finalised a contract for procurement of a batch of Israeli weapon systems that are capable of bringing down high-speed enemy drones, official sources said on Tuesday. The delivery of the SMASH 2000 fire control systems is expected to begin early next year, they said. The number of the SMASH 2000 systems being procured by the Navy is not immediately known. The sources said the fire control system, manufactured by Israeli firm Smart Shooter can track and bring down high-speed drones. It is learnt that an Indian firm has been roped in for the procurement process. Last week, Navy Chief Admiral Karambir Singh had said at a press conference that his force is putting focus on procuring unmanned systems besides other assets and platforms.

  15. Minecraft With RTX Is Now Live On PC You can download Minecraft with lovely ray-tracing effects now from the Microsoft Store. Minecraft with RTX is now available for all Windows 10 players. You can download it and still play games with players on other platforms while enjoying the visual improvements that RTX brings to the table. The feature has been available via an official beta since April, but now it's available in the main Minecraft client. Microsoft and Nvidia are releasing two new worlds that are compatible with RTX to celebrate. "Using the power of ray tracing and Physically Based Rendering, you can build incredible scenes with lighting, shadows and effects running at previously-unseen levels of detail and accuracy," reads a post on Nvidia's official site. "Helping you craft wondrous worlds that'll make jaws drop." Nvidia worked with two creators to "demonstrate the possibilities of Minecraft’s ray tracing" by releasing new worlds that players can download in Minecraft's Marketplace. The first is a recreation of Rome's Colosseum while the second, unreleased world is a dungeon crawler set in a "beautiful medieval countryside." You can see images of each world with and without RTX on Nvidia's site. Mojang released Minecraft Star Wars DLC last month. It includes Baby Yoda, other content from The Mandalorian, as well as characters and content from A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. You can purchase it at the Marketplace for 1340 minecoins (roughly $8).

  16. Apple's new partnership might help close one of the web's worst privacy holes New internet protocol makes it much harder for ISPs to know which sites you visit Engineers from Cloudflare, Apple and Fastly have co-authored a new proposed DNS standard that separates IP addresses from queries to make it harder for internet service providers to know which websites users visit. The new internet protocol, dubbed Oblivious DNS-over-HTTPS (ODoH), could help close one of the web's worst privacy holes and Cloudflare has made its source code publicly available so that anyone can try out ODoH or even run their own ODoH service. When a user visits a website, their browser utilizes a DNS resolver to convert the site's web address into a machine-readable IP address in order to locate where a web page is located on the internet. However, this process is not encrypted which means that DNS queries are sent in clear text. To make matters worse, your ISP could be your DNS resolver unless you've changed it, meaning your internet provider may know exactly which websites you visit. We've assembled a list of the best database software around These are the best cloud storage services on the market Also check out our roundup of the best cloud backup services In order to safeguard DNS from third parties, the IETF standardized DNS encryption with DNS over HTTPS (DoH) and DNS over TLS (DoT). Both of these protocols prevent queries from being intercepted, redirected or modified but don't prevent DNS resolvers from seeing the websites you visit online. Oblivious DNS-over-HTTPS ODoH is the IETF's latest protocol and it works by adding a layer of public key encryption as well as a network proxy between clients and DoH servers. These two added elements guarantee that only the user has access to both the DNS messages and their own IP address at the same time. As the DNS query is encrypted, the proxy can't see what's inside and instead acts as a barrier to prevent the DNS resolver from seeing who sent the query in the first place. By using ODoH, only the proxy knows the identity of the internet user and the DNS resolver only knows the website being requested which in turn protects the privacy of users online. In addition to making ODoH's source code publicly available, Cloudflare has launched the new protocol with several leading proxy partners including PCCW, SURF and Equinix. Browser makers are also interested in using the new protocol and Firefox's CTO Eric Rescorla explained in a blog post that it will soon be available in its browser, saying: “Oblivious DoH is a great addition to the secure DNS ecosystem. We're excited to see it starting to take off and are looking forward to experimenting with it in Firefox.” Improved privacy is the main goal of introducing ODoH but the new protocol will also prevent ISP's from tracking customers and selling their browsing history to advertisers.
