About 6.5 million homes in Florida, two-thirds of the total, are without power after Hurricane Irma cut a deadly path through the state, officials say. Relief operations are under way and engineers are working to restore power, but many areas remain stranded. The islands of the Florida Keys and western parts of the US state bore the brunt of the category-four hurricane. Irma hit Florida on Sunday, before weakening to a tropical storm as it moved north on Monday. Media reports link at least four deaths to the storm in Florida. Last week it killed at least 37 people in Caribbean islands. White House Homeland Security Adviser Tom Bossert said it will be some time before residents in the Florida Keys are able to return to their homes. "I would expect that the Keys are not fit for re-entry for regular citizenry for weeks", he said. Speaking as he went on an aerial tour of the Keys, Florida Governor Rick Scott said: "Power lines are down throughout the state. We've got roads that are impassable, so everybody's got to be patient as we work through this." The Keys are cut off from the mainland, as the 42 bridges that link them are being assessed for damage. Reports say that 10,000 people decided to ride out the storm. Although Miami was spared the worst, large parts of the city are under water. Winds have snapped power lines and 72% of homes there are without electricity, officials say. On the west coast of Florida, drone footage from Naples, a town on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico about 125 miles (200km) to the north-west, shows rows of shattered suburban homes on streets under water. President Donald Trump has released emergency federal aid for Florida, describing the hurricane as a "big monster".

The low-lying Turks and Caicos islands are preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Irma, which has left a trail of destruction across the Caribbean. The British overseas territory is said to be at risk of a storm surge, with the possibility of destructive waves up to 6m (20ft) higher than usual. Irma is a category five hurricane, the highest possible level. Islands in its path have seen winds of about 180mph (285km/h). At least 10 people have died. The small island of Barbuda is said to be "barely habitable". Officials warn that St Martin is almost destroyed, and the death toll is likely to rise. Irma is currently north of the Dominican Republic, heading towards the Turks and Caicos and is expected to hit the chain on Thursday evening. It is expected to reach Cuba next before hitting the US state of Florida at the weekend, with the head of the US emergency agency predicting a "truly devastating" impact. An estimated 1.2 million people have been affected by Irma, a number that could rise sharply to 26 million, the Red Cross says. "Our worst fears have played out in Barbuda and elsewhere," Walter Cotte, Americas director for the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, said in a statement. There are concerns that disease could spread rapidly in areas where drinking water and sanitation services have broken down.

Well I think this problem is not very often. What I mean is that the problem that the players generate is not because of server (also because of the autojoin). or in some cases because it takes time to load the map and it stays as if they were "dead" It is because of internet problems or also because of problems that when loading the plugins to enter a server takes a lot. There are many reasons why this error appears to them and there is no solution in itself! What I would do is download "fastdll" I do not remember very well if that is the name. but it is a plugin that makes when loading the "plugins" of the server go faster. Or in itself is the map. At least 15 people have been injured, two of them seriously, by lightning at a music festival in the north-east of France, officials say. The lightning struck in several areas of the Vieux Canal festival inthe town of Azerailles, the regional council said in a statement. Those injured include children who were in a tent during the storm. The victims were "directly hit by the lightning and suffered burns", the regional council said. A woman in her sixties and a 44-year-old man are reported to be in a serious condition as a result of the strikes. Parts of France around this time of the year are often put on alert for violent storms. Those hurt in the latest incident received first aid from the festival's emergency teams before going on to get treatment from local hospitals. All of Saturday's performances were cancelled after the incident. Among those due to appear were French electronic act Pony Pony Run Run and pop group Black Bones.

Russia has been ordered to close its San Francisco consulate and two trade missions in response to "unwarranted" Russian action, the US has said. The consulate, and annexes in New York and Washington, must close by Saturday. The US state department's move follows Moscow's reduction of US diplomatic staff in Russia last month. That in turn followed new US sanctions on Russia over Crimea and alleged election interference, which led to the expulsion of 35 Russian diplomats. President Barack Obama had ordered those expulsions, along with the closure of two compounds, last December. Although Russian President Vladimir Putin did not respond initially to that move, with Mr Trump set to assume office, he then announced on 31 July a reduction of 755 US diplomatic staff in Russia, in retaliation for the US sanctions. The US diplomats expelled have until this Friday to leave Russia - a day before the US closures of the Russian consulate and two annexes, which are trade missions, must be completed. A senior administration official said on Thursday that the consulate and the residence attached to it as well as the two trade missions would close but no Russian staff would be required to leave the country.

Two major dams outside Houston have begun overflowing as Storm Harvey pushes reservoirs past capacity. Flood control official Jeff Lindner said nearby communities could face further flooding as a result. Officials said the overspill could cause further flooding in areas close to the Buffalo Bayou, but the exact impact was unknown. "This is something we've never faced before, so we're trying our best to wrap around what exactly this water is going to do," said Jeff Lindner, meteorologist with the Harris County Flood Control District. Meanwhile, officials in Brazoria County, south of Houston, said a levee at Columbia Lakes had been breached, tweeting: "Get out now!" Harvey was the most powerful hurricane to hit Texas in more than 50 years when it made landfall on Friday near Corpus Christi, 220 miles (354km) south-west of Houston. The slow-moving storm - currently over the Gulf of Mexico - is expected to continue dumping huge amounts of rain in the coming days over already flood-hit areas.
