We scan the network, note the BSSID of the network we want to break and the MAC address of a client connected to that network. We capture the packets transmitted between the connected client and the AP (AccessPoint, that is the router). After capturing some packages, we stop saving the packages and use the captured packages for injection. What does injection mean? We send the packets captured to the AP on behalf of the client and thus generate ARP traffic, which will cause the router to generate more IVs (Initialization Vectors) that we need to decrypt the WEP key. We save ARP packages, both sent and captured. We monitor traffic until we collect enough data to crack the password. After we have waited and saved the ARP packages, we stop capturing the packages, which will result in getting a head extension file. With the aircrack-ng program now we will be able to decipher the WEP key if we have monitored traffic for quite a while and if the AP and the AP were indeed traffic. After we have obtained the WEP key, we can simply connect to the AP, that is we will have internet or we will be a part of the wireles network, and we will even be able to scan the computers connected to that router. Attention to this type of attack we need to capture traffic between at least one connected client and AP.
