Final Fantasy 16 has been rated in Brazil, leading credence to rumors that preorders will go up in early December and that a release date trailer is coming soon. The rating was first noticed by Gemetsu. The game has been rated as "not recommended for children under 16." According to a translation via Insider Gaming, the game includes sex scenes that are "not fully shown" and plenty of violence including "blood, intentional deaths, torture...victims suffering" and even "hate crimes." Insider Gaming also reported last week that preorders for Final Fantasy 16 will go live on December 7 or 8. Its report suggests that this news along with a release date trailer will be shown off at The Game Awards, which airs on December 8, though it acknowledges that Square Enix or Sony could be planning their own event. This speculation does fit in with previous statements from developers. In an interview with Famitsu earlier this month, main director Hiroshi Takai said the game was "95%" finished. Producer Naoki Yoshida said he expected the exact release date to be revealed soon. Final Fantasy 16 is planned to release sometime in Summer 2023. The most recent trailer showed off epic battles between the mystical Eikons. The game will be a temporary PlayStation exclusive for six months after the release date. Norwegian Muscian Aurora, known for songs like Runaway, Cure For Me, and for lending her ethereal vocals to Disney's Frozen 2, will be performing a virtual concert in Sky: Children Of The Light this December. The event comes as part of Sky's Season of Aurora, a two month long collaboration with the singer that kicked off in October. In keeping with the themes of the season, the concert is being described as a "unique musical journey," with the developers wanting players to connect with Aurora, her music, and with other players. Attendees will also play a part in the concert themselves, with Thatgamecompany promising "unparalleled" interactivity. The songs featured in the 45 minute concert will include "Exhale, Inhale," "Runaway," "All is Soft," "Warrior," "The Seed," and more. The concert is timed to begin after The Game Awards wraps up, kicking off at 8:30 PM PT on December 8, promising a unique kind of in-game afterparty for the industry awards show. Fans are also encouraged to turn up early to the in-game venue, with a number of pre-show attractions on offer including new characters, unique expressions and instruments, and other interactive experiences. For fans who won't be able to make the initial date, the experience will be replaying through the remainder of the Season of Aurora, with replays every four hours between midnight on December 8 until the season concludes on January 2. The concept of in-game concerts has become po[CENSORED]r since the start of the pandemic, with Fortnite having hosted artists like Ariana Grande and Travis Scott, and other big games like Roblox and PUBG getting in on the action. Sky's concert promises to be a very different kind of experience, thanks to its unique gameplay that draws its DNA from Thatgamecompany's earlier hit Journey. Sky: Children of the Light is free to play on iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch, with a PlayStation launch coming this December. Marvel's Midnight Suns' story draws clear inspirations from the original Rise of the Midnight Sons comic book series from the 1990s in which Blade, Morbius, and Ghost Rider--among others--unite to fight against a recently resurrected Lilith and her army of demons. Developer Firaxis Games' title, however, incorporates more faces from the current Midnight Suns series, such as Wolverine, Magik, and Nico Minoru. In making these changes, it distances itself from the source material's idea that to defeat a monster, you need a team of monsters. Instead, it is a story about the power of friendship between a bunch of misfits, which is forged and strengthed through battle as much as traditional social scenarios. Midnight Suns aims to combine relationship-building with memorable role-playing moments, and the result is a stellar turn-based tactical combat title driven by interesting characters. Marvel's Midnight Suns begins with the Avengers in a tough spot--the prophesied return of an eldritch god is on the horizon, having been brought about by Lilith, who now leads an army of HYDRA soldiers and demonic children in a war against humanity. The Avengers aren't adequately prepared to tackle such a supernatural threat, so they turn to Doctor Strange and his newest apprentice, Scarlet Witch, for aid. After their first attempt at fighting Lilith goes sideways, Strange introduces the world's mightiest heroes to the contingency plan: the Midnight Suns, a group of young heroes who each wield magical, supernatural, or demonic powers. That's where your character, The Hunter, comes in. As the child of Lilith, you possess incredible magical abilities, which is what helped you defeat her 300 years ago. That final duel left both you and Lilith dead, but just as HYDRA managed to bring your mother back to life, the Midnight Suns are able to do the same for you. Not content to leave the fate of the world up to others, the Avengers also decide to set up shop in the Midnight Suns' headquarters, The Abbey, to join the fight against Lilith. The major conflict in Marvel's Midnight Suns is explored through the tried-and-true formula of, "What happens when the old guard meets the new kids?" In Marvel's Midnight Suns, the Avengers have already overcome the likes of Ultron, Galactus, Thanos, and other would-be apocalypses, so they're not particularly eager to get input from a newly formed team of much younger heroes. And the Midnight Suns believe the Avengers are a bloated waste of space for the mission at hand, as the older team is ill-prepared to tackle a magical threat with the science they've relied on for decades. Marvel's Midnight Suns doesn't do anything new with this kind of storyline, but it does create plenty of interesting moments throughout its 45-hour runtime. Heroes like Iron Man and Captain America find solace in their struggles with their figurative demons from the perspectives of those who have dealt with literal ones all their lives. What does it look like when Tony Stark, who's fully cognizant of his alcoholism and believes he's come to terms with all of the bad life choices he's made through the good he's accomplished as Iron Man, meets Robbie Reyes, a Ghost Rider directly impacted by the sins of Stark Industries that Tony has wilfully ignored? These are the types of questions that Marvel's Midnight Suns asks and answers, and the storylines are regularly intriguing if a little straightforward. https://www.gamespot.com/reviews/marvels-midnight-suns-review-xcom-superhero-squad/1900-6418006/

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to be launched in February next year. The South Korean tech giant has not shared any information on the Galaxy S23 Ultra yet, but there have been a couple of leaks about the phone's specifications. A new leak now suggests the display specifications of the upcoming flagship smartphone. Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra's AMOLED display is said to offer a peak brightness ranging from 2,100 to 2,200 nits. It could offer a 960Hz touch sampling rate as well. It looks like the Galaxy S23 Ultra may surpass the latest iPhone 14 Pro in terms of screen brightness. It could also have a Pulse Width Modulation(PWM) frequency below 2,000Hz. A Twitter user RGcloudS (@RGcloudS) has suggested the display specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra. According to him, the upcoming handset will come with a bright E6 AMOLED LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) 3.0 display with a peak brightness of 2,200 nits. If this rumour holds any weight, the screen brightness of the Galaxy S23 Ultra could top iPhone 14 Pro's 2,200 nits. The predecessor, Galaxy S22 Ultra has a maximum (Review) brightness of 1,750 nits. The touch sampling rate of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra could be set at 960Hz. Its PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) frequency is said to be below 2,000Hz. Additionally, the upcoming lineup is claimed to feature the strongest glass protection among all Android phones that will go official in the first quarter of next year. It could have a new glass covering for the cameras. The Galaxy S23 Ultra has been subject to many leaks recently. It is said to come equipped with four cameras at the rear with a similar camera configuration as this year's Galaxy S22 Ultra. The camera setup could include a 200-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide shooter, a 10-megapixel telephoto shooter with 10x optical zoom support, and another 10-megapixel telephoto shooter with 3x optical zoom. The Galaxy S23 Ultra also reportedly comes with a new 12-megapixel selfie sensor. Recent Geekbench listings allegedly confirmed the presence of a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset on the upcoming Galaxy S23, Galaxy 23, and Galaxy 23 Ultra models. https://www.gadgets360.com/mobiles/news/samsung-s23-ultra-display-specifications-2200-nits-peak-brightness-e6-ltpo-3-galaxy-3549978

In the spirit of the holiday season, Venmo is updating its mobile app to make it easier to donate to local charities. By first tapping the search bar on the Venmo app, you will see a new selection titled “Make a Donation”. There, you will be met with a wide variety of trending, local charities. Specific categories are also present, including, but not limited to, animals, the environment, homelessness, and veterans. You can choose to pay with either your in-app balance, link bank account, or whatever credit card you have on file, according to the announcement(opens in new tab). You do have to pay a small transaction fee(opens in new tab) of 1.9 percent plus an extra $0.10, but there’s no setup. You can start donating right away. All of the charities in Venmo’s new section have been approved by parent-company Paypal, but we still recommend doing some homework and making sure you’re donating to a good place. Some charities, like the Salvation Army, sport a verification blue checkmark. This means the charity provided all the necessary paperwork to Paypal, proving it’s legitimate. From what we could tell, most charities have yet to be verified. The update is currently available for download on both iOS(opens in new tab) and Android(opens in new tab). And within the coming weeks, Venmo will be adding a feature to share donations made with your friends as a way to encourage them to do the same. More changes In addition to the new charities section, Venmo is redesigning its peer-to-peer payment screen with some quality-of-life changes that make sending (or better yet, receiving) money easier to do. Now, you will see the profile picture of the person you’re sending money to instead of just the name, and the dollar amount will sport a bigger font for easier viewing. Sending and requesting money will be made easier with a new Plus button next to a recipient’s profile picture. By tapping the button, you can add more people for one big transaction instead of doing it one by one. The Send Money redesign is rolling out today alongside the charities section, however other reports(opens in new tab) state this particular change may not reach all users at once. It'll arrive in a later wave, at which point, you'll have to update the app a second time. And with Black Friday almost here, Venmo’s redesign couldn’t have come at a better time. TechRadar has a massive list of Black Friday deals that you should check out. It ranges from laptops to gaming consoles and even mattresses. https://www.techradar.com/news/venmo-update-helps-you-spread-the-holiday-cheer-via-new-charity-section

Banana Pi has revealed its next-generation board, known as the BPI-M6, which follows the same design trend as the Raspberry Pi and features an NPU alongside a quad-core CPU, an M.2 socket, and an HDMI input. While it may look like yet another small blue SBC, there's a lot going on here. The BPI-M6 has a CPU made up of four 64bit Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.1 GHz, with an additional Cortex M3 core, a 32bit processor often seen in microcontrollers, IoT devices, and which acted as the motion co-processor in Apple M9 devices, such as the iPhone 6S. Given the remarkable amount of work you can get out of the Raspberry Pi 4's 1.5GHz Cortex A-72 cores, this faster and more capable CPU should be a nice upgrade, though it may require cooling. The Imagination GE9920 is Banana Pi’s GPU of choice for this board, and is bundled with the CPU and a 6.75 TOPS NPU into a package known as the VideoSmart VS680. There's also 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM, 16GB of eMMC flash (which can be specced as high as 64GB) and a Micro SD slot, while as the back edge of the board is an M.2 socket capable of holding Key E devices, which include Wi-Fi and Bluetooth cards - useful, as there's no on-board wireless capability. Video output is as high as 4K60, and it can run a 4K screen through a micro-HDMI port as well as a 1080p screen connected via MIPI DSI. The other micro-HDMI port is an input, pointing to potential uses in DIY set-top boxes or other video processing and IoT applications. The rest of the board will definitely look familiar to Raspberry Pi(opens in new tab) aficionados, with four USB ports (all 3.0) and a Gigabit Ethernet socket at one end, and 40 GPIO pins. There's also a header for PoE, and power is delivered through a USB-C port. There's no information yet about software support for the new board, though previous Banana Pi SBCs such as the BPI-M5(opens in new tab) have had Android, Ubuntu, Debian and even Raspbian images available for them. Prices and availability have also not been announced, but there is a wiki article detailing the hardware. https://www.tomshardware.com/news/banana-pi-reveals-raspberry-pi-alternative-bpi-m6-sbc

After a successful stint of mobile revenue with Fire Emblem Heroes, Nintendo is partnering with DeMa for even more mobile games. Forming a new studio, Nintendo Systems, the development team will create new games on Android and more. Opening in April 2023, the joint venture is said to “strengthen the digitalization of Nintendo’s business”. While not all of its mobile ventures are successful, there have been a number of high revenue titles. For example, Nintendo’s Fire Emblem Heroes has proven extremely po[CENSORED]r. The title has earned the company over $1 billion in microtransactions over its entire release. Nintendo Systems will revive the Big N’s partnership with DeNA. The business partnership started back in 2015, but has since slowed down in recent years. Following disappointing revenue on titles such as Mario Kart Tour, no new titles have released since 2019. Instead, Nintendo has partnered with other development studios. In 2022, Nintendo continued a partnership with Niantic for Pikmim Bloom, an AR exploration game like Pokémon Go. Nintendo’s renewal of this partnership may be due to the slowing down of Nintendo Switch hardware sales. In the company’s financial report, it was revealed that Switch sales have seen a 19.2% decline year on year. It would seem that mobile games will be Nintendo’s backup plan… again. With no sign of the Nintendo Switch successor on the horizon, mobile revenue will once again prop the company up. https://www.droidgamers.com/2022/11/09/nintendo-systems-mobile-games/

Diablo Immortal clans torn apart in the process of recent Diablo Immortal server merges will have to rebuild their broken groups on their own. Blizzard has apologised to affected players, offering them a compensation package that, much like recent Diablo Immortal gem compensation, has left players of the RPG game feeling rather underwhelmed. Following the arrival of the planned server merges, several clans reported that their group had been entirely disbanded. This includes members of Shadow clans, the high-ranking squads that take part in the Diablo Immortal Shadow War and its corresponding Rite of Exile for a chance to take over from the server’s current reigning Immortals faction. While it was generally accepted that the introduction of server merges would mean tighter competition for the top spot, players weren’t expecting to be tossed out and have to rebuild their clans entirely from scratch. A message posted by one such affected player details the response from Blizzard. It says that the issue was the result of “unexpected bugs causing a disband for your Shadow Clan” and offers an apology for inconvenience caused. Rather than offering a resolution, however, the message simply continues, “I encourage you and [your] team to gather again to protect Sanctuary.” Attached are one of each normal gem, two (non-eternal) legendary crests, one heavy austere chest, 300 scrap materials, and 30 enchanted dust. It’s certainly not the most exciting compensation bundle, especially given that attempting to rebuild a clan which could have as many as 100 players is potentially quite a tough task. One player notes that, while any compensation is better than nothing, many reports from players who were booted from their clans say that the affected players are still unable to reform thanks to problems related to the same bug. Others remark that these tiny compensation bundles feel almost “more insulting than no compensation at all.” It’s not all bad news, however; initial reports around the new Diablo Immortal set crafting feature implemented at the same time as the server merges have been largely positive. Blizzard community manager SinfulScribe also explains that the team is working on minimising instances of English language patch notes falling short on describing key details that are included in the equivalent Chinese language blog. The best Diablo Immortal builds will ensure that you can climb the rankings on your newly merged server, especially when combined with the best Diablo Immortal legendary gems. Meanwhile, our Diablo Immortal tier list is a great place to start for newcomers to the fantasy game that aren’t sure which class to choose. If you aren’t happy with the server you’re on, you can also try a Diablo Immortal server transfer – just be wary about what you’ll lose in the transition. https://www.pcgamesn.com/diablo-immortal/clans-server-merge

Control 2 (formerly known as Codename Heron) will release for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, and be built on Remedy’s Northlight engine, the pair announced on Friday. Remedy will publish the game on the PC platform and 505 Games will publish it on the console platforms. The project is currently in the concept stage. Remedy first announced plans for a “bigger-budget Control game” in June 2021. “I’m now proud to confirm that the bigger-budget Control game, also known as Codename Heron, is Control 2, a full-blown sequel to our award-winning game Control,” said CEO Tero Virtala in a statement on Friday. Mikael Kasurinen, game director of the Control franchise, said in a statement: “With Control, we leaped into the unknown. We wanted to create something new. Something different and unexpected. A world like no other. Thank you, the audience, for making Control such a success for us. “With Control 2, we’ll take another leap into the unknown. It’ll be an unexpected journey. It’ll take a while, but to put it mildly, this is the most exciting project I’ve ever worked on. It’s still early days, but it will be worth the wait.” Rami and Raffi Galante, co-CEOs of Digital Bros Group/505 Games, added: “We are excited to deepen our cooperation with Remedy and continue the success story of Control together. Since its launch in 2019, Control has sold over 3 million copies. “Control is the biggest investment 505 Games has ever made, so it has a special place in our hearts. We are grateful to the whole player community that has made Control such a long-lasting and loved game, and are even more excited to bring out Control 2.” Control 2 isn’t the only franchise entry being worked on at Remedy. The company previously announced plans for a co-op multiplayer spin-off set in the same universe, which is currently codenamed Condor and is being developed by Remedy’s ‘Vanguard‘ team. In an official blog post published last year, Control’s game director Mikael Kasurinen attempted to assuage any concerns Remedy fans may have about the studio taking a rare venture into multiplayer gaming. “We get that there is going to be scepticism about multiplayer. But I believe we can create shared experiences without compromising the unique DNA of who we are, or the stories we want to tell,” Kasurinen explained. “Yes, we need to re-think our angles, our techniques, our mindset, but we see it as an exciting challenge: What would a Remedy multiplayer game look like? “The Vanguard team has done awesome progress on that front already, and the possibilities there are extremely exciting. Both games [Control and Condor] will be different examples of how you can collectively experience our worlds. “We are approaching this with a mix of excitement and respect. We want to create something that is engaging, yet familiar, something any of our fans can jump into and feel at home in. Together.” VGC’s Control review called the supernatural action adventure game “Remedy’s finest creation since the original Max Payne”. https://www.videogameschronicle.com/news/remedy-confirms-control-2-is-in-development-for-ps5-xsx-and-pc/

le who want to subscribe to Spotify Premium will see another option to use the platform’s own service instead(opens in new tab). The main difference so far is you can't track your subscription on Spotify's billing service, whereas you can with Google. Other than that, it’s business as usual: you enter your credit card information to pay and you’re done. Google is currently allowing other non-gaming apps on the Play Store to enroll in the UCB pilot program(opens in new tab). Developers do have to follow certain UX guidelines(opens in new tab) created by Google that detail how to implement the feature. Looking at the guidelines, developers must include an information and billing choice page whenever a user is trying to purchase a service. The displayed price must also be upfront and center. The full list of UCB participants is unknown, but we do know that the dating app Bumble will soon join the program “in select countries [within] the coming months.” Spotify says it champions UCB because it sees the program as “Google [allowing] more choice and competition” on the Play Store. The company wants more platform fairness for apps to thrive and “give users of [the free service] the ability to subscribe and make purchases directly [on the] app.” We asked Google what it hopes to achieve with UCB for users specifically, plus why gaming apps are currently excluded from the program. This story will be updated if we hear back. The future of app stores As for Apple and its po[CENSORED]r App Store, we strongly doubt users will see anything remotely resembling UCB. Apple has made it abundantly clear it does not like third-party payment options on the App Store. It recently forced Telegram to crack down on iOS users creating paid posts because the tech giant wasn’t getting a cut. And then there’s Apple’s 2021 court battle with Epic Games after Apple removed Fortnite from the App Store because of similar actions. Change, though, may be inevitable. The Open Markets Act is a proposed antitrust bill aimed at stopping both Google and Apple “from engaging in harmful behaviors towards their competitors.” Google appears to be more than willing to play nicer, but it remains to be seen if and when Apple will decide to do the same. https://www.techradar.com/news/google-just-made-it-possible-to-pay-for-spotify-premium-outside-the-play-store

A gaming PC modder has turned some older generation consoles into custom rigs. Repurposing PlayStation 3 and Xbox One S shells, they’ve managed to build two serviceable rigs, complete with RGB lighting and Alphacool water cooling. Taking inspiration from the best gaming PC designs, Reddit user Draelren adorns each custom system with stylish neon lighting. Both consoles-turned-PCs are built with perspex covers so you can see the inner workings while playing PC exclusives like World of Warcraft, Baldur’s Gate 3, or Guild Wars 2. The user says the PS3 has an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G APU, while the Xbox One has a 4700G. There’s no mention of whether they use a dedicated Nvidia or AMD graphics card, so they’re likely reliant on the integrated GPUs within each processor. Each also has 16GB of RAM and a 1TB NVMe SSD. It’s hard to know whether Draelren was intentionally making a statement about the console wars, or whether they just happened to have some unused ones lying around that needed new purpose. The aforementioned water cooling system is a neat touch, and it’s nice to see old hardware being recycled, something which many will find important during these times. We’ve seen some fabulous custom gaming PC builds in the past, from the one built into a wooden case to one that utilises the Fallout 4 PipBoy case. While gamers are often at each other’s throats when it comes to the systems they use, it’s interesting that one person is trying to bring PCs and consoles together. Whether or not the integrated GPUs can keep up with the consoles they’ve replaced is another question, however. https://www.pcgamesn.com/xbox-one-s-ps3-water-cooled-gaming-pc

ZTE, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer that introduced the Axon 40 Ultra featuring an under-display front camera and a sleek design earlier this year, may now be working on a special Ultra Space Edition of the smartphone series, according to the company's President of Mobile Devices Ni Fei. Last year, the smartphone manufacturer launched a similar special Edition to the Axon 30 Ultra, featuring 18GB of RAM and 1TB of in-built storage capacity. However, Fei did not reveal any specifications of the rumoured ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Space Edition smartphone. ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Space Edition first public revelation was made through Fei's Weibo post, as he teased images clicked on the purported smartphone. As mentioned above, the company also launched an Aerospace Edition to the Axon 30 Ultra last year. However, the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra Aerospace Edition did not feature any specification upgrades from the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G, apart from an increase in RAM and storage capacity, and a cosmetic touch-up that featured a Taikonaut logo, which is used to denote a Chinese Astronaut, on the back of the special edition smartphone. The upcoming Space Edition from Chinese smartphone maker, the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra Space Edition, is also expected to follow suit in terms of RAM and storage upgrades that could translate to the smartphone featuring 18GB RAM and 1TB storage, while also sporting the cosmetic Taikonaut touchup on the back of the smartphone, according to Gizchina. Meanwhile, the ZTE Axon 40 Ultra features a 6.81-inch AMOLED display panel that supports a Full HD+ resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels while offering a 120Hz refresh rate, a 100 percent coverage of the DCI-P3 colour gamut, 10-bit colour, 400 PPI pixel density, and 1500nits of brightness. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC which is paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The handset is powered by a 5,000mAh battery which also supports 65W fast charging. https://www.gadgets360.com/mobiles/news/zte-axon-40-ultra-aerospace-edition-launch-teased-report-3514493

With the recent Cyberpunk 2077 update, the game runs much smoother on Steam Deck thanks to AMD FSR 2.1 upscaling tech. If you have the Valve gaming PC, as well as CD Projekt Red’s release, there has never been a better time to play it on the portable device. While Cyberpunk 2077 did support the first-generation FidelityFX Super Resolution (otherwise known as AMD FSR), the latest version sees greater improvement, especially on the Steam Deck. In a recent video, you can see GamingOnLinux demonstrate the difference between 2.1 and native, without upscaling tech. The host, Liam Dawe, shows how there’s an increase of up to ten frames with upscaling turned to ‘balanced’, while also delivering impressive visuals overall. For anyone who isn’t aware, AMD’s FSR is an open-source algorithm designed to boost fps in supported games. It’s also compatible with AMD Radeon and GeForce graphics cards, while team green’s Nvidia DLSS upscaling AI is locked to its own RTX GPUs. There are several modes that you can use when it comes to FSR, which allows you to set whether you want it to prioritise graphical fidelity or performance. In Dawe’s case, a balanced setting delivers 1.7x the scale factor. Essentially, it enables games like Cyberpunk 2077 to run at an upscaled version of the resolution as though it was doing so natively. The fact that AMD FSR 2.1 is now compatible with it is good news for anyone playing the game on Steam Deck. It’ll provide a much smoother framerate, making for a beautiful gameplay experience overall. Now imagine plugging your handheld gaming PC into the best Steam Deck dock and playing Cyberpunk 2077 on a large screen with upscaling turned on. https://www.pcgamesn.com/steam-deck/amd-fsr-2-1-cyberpunk-2077

Microsoft has begun the rollout of iCloud photo library integration within Windows 11, in the form of an update to the Photos app. The announcement(opens in new tab) on the Windows Experience Blog from Dave Grochocki, Principal Product Manager Lead for Windows Inbox Posts, follows the company’s initial unveiling of the feature at its Surface event in October 2022. Once users receive the update, they should download the iCloud for Windows app from the Microsoft Store to link their accounts. Microsoft, Apple, and closed ecosystems Windows integrating with Apple’s own cloud storage solution is surely one of the first signs that the notion that Microsoft and Apple devices ought to be separate ecosystems is thawing. As previously reported by The Verge(opens in new tab), iCloud photo library integration follows Apple Music appearing as an app in the Microsoft Store (although Windows users will have to wait until next year), and a native Apple TV app is also said to be coming soon in preview. Microsoft claims that the decision to integrate the two platforms was made with user experience in mind. “We know that many Windows customers have photo and video collections on their iPhones(opens in new tab) that they would like to be able to view on their PC,” wrote Grochocki. “This iCloud Photos integration will make it easier for those with an iPhone to have direct access to all their cherished memories in one organized place and is another step in our continued efforts to make experiences on Windows 11 seamless.” The new feature is similar to Microsoft’s recent decision to allow photo libraries on Android phones to be used with Microsoft 365 on the web. That integration works similarly, in that an additional app is required to link photo libraries across platforms. https://www.techradar.com/news/icloud-photos-will-be-integrated-with-windows-11-soon

Google Pixel phones were recently updated with a fix for a security flaw that allowed a user to bypass the lock screen, after it was reported by a security researcher. The company announced earlier this week that it had begun globally rolling out the November Android update for the Pixel smartphones running on Android 13. This update will be made available to Pixel users gradually over the next few weeks. Apart from bringing fixes and improvements, this update also includes the November 2022 Android security patch, which includes a bug fix that resolves a security issue that allows people to bypass the lock screen using a SIM card. Security researcher David Schütz discovered a security flaw, tracked as CVE-2022-20465 in the November 2022 Android security patch update. It allowed an attacker with physical access to a Pixel smartphone to bypass lock screen security measures such as fingerprint, PIN, and pattern. Schütz demonstrated the bug on the Pixel 6, which allowed people to bypass the biometrics by swapping out the SIM card and entering the SIM PIN incorrectly three times. The device would then ask for the Personal Unlocking Key (PUK) code. Entering the PUK code correctly, the phone would ask for a new PIN code for that SIM card. The handset would then unlock and take users to the home screen with full access to the device. Schütz had reported this bug to Google via the Android Vulnerability Rewards Program. After waiting for a few months, he was rewarded with $70,000 (roughly Rs. 56,57,000) for spotting the security flaw. It is now [listed] in the November security patch as a High severity system issue. It has also been included in the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) version of Android 10, 11, 12, 12L, and 13. https://www.gadgets360.com/mobiles/news/google-pixel-bug-lock-screen-bypass-fix-november-android-update-3510934

Alongside now being able to schedule Instagram posts for up to 90 days, the web version of the app has seen a redesign, with a goal of working better on bigger displays. Previously, a menu would be found at the top of your web browser, but it would usually be in the way of the content you were looking at, and everything was in a boxed space. Now, every option is found on a sidebar to the left of the screen, and when you select a post it gets enlarged, showcasing itself on your display. These improvements are slowly rolling out to everyone, and after its downtime earlier this year where a bug was restricting accounts, this is another good start in providing its users with what they actually want, rather than NFT collectibles. The updated browser version will likely be a boon for desktop social media users. If you're looking for a new monitor for Black Friday 2022 - and you usually have Twitter, Instagram, or even Mastodon open on your PC - there's never been a better time to snap one up, now that Instagram looks much better in a browser than it has before. Let's get the elephant in the room out of the way - there's still no word of a dedicated iPad version of Instagram from CEO Adam Mosseri. However, I agree with this approach. I've said before how a reboot of the iPad line, both in its hardware and software, is sorely needed, and you can already access Instagram with the iPhone version(opens in new tab). It's not optimized for the tablet, but it works. However, the updated web version alleviates this further. With the new update to the browser version of the app, scrolling through Instagram and creating posts on my M1 iPad Pro (2021) in Safari is now as intuitive as using it on my iPhone. There used to be a time when you would see an iPhone app first, followed by an iPad app with 'HD' tacked on to the end of the name. Twelve years on since the debut of the iPad, and the constant request from some has been Instagram on iPad - it's time to let those cries rest. Web browsers have reached a point of flexibility and power where you can now create content with ease - not just consume content as you used to in the late-90s with forums and MSN Messenger chats for example. Instagram works great on other devices where it's reachable through a bookmark, and on my iPad and MacBook Pro 14-inch (2021), that's good enough for most users, including me. https://www.techradar.com/news/instagram-finally-gets-better-for-browsers-making-an-ipad-version-pointless

Picking up any AMD Radeon RX 6000 series graphics card will net you free copies of the upcoming action horror games, which will both likely support AMD FSR Current generation AMD Radeon GPUs can be had for an absolute steal these days, but the value offered by 6000 series cards just got a boost thanks to a new games bundle. Picking up one of these pixel pushers will now net you free copies of The Callisto Protocol and Dead Island 2. Buying any GPU in the AMD Radeon RX 6000 series guarantees your eligibility for this promotion, from the best graphics card in team red’s arsenal to its more budget oriented offerings. However, you’ll need to pick up an RX 6600 or better if you fancy picking up both games, else you’ll only net a copy of Dead Island 2. Considering that the AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT is the cheapest it’s ever been, picking one up with this bundle sounds like an absolute bargain. Both games will likely support AMD FSR, meaning you’ll be able to boost fps even higher than your new graphics card normally would thanks to the upscaling technology. Just bear in mind, if you’re after the highest level of performance, that the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX and Radeon RX 7900 XT are just around the corner. However, both will be more expensive than any 6000 series pixel pusher, and won’t come bundled with these games. https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd/radeon-gpu-bundle-callisto-protocol-dead-island-2
