  1. We are all impressed by the hardware. We want everything that is new, everything that is more efficient and that is faster. But is it effective to buy high end products every time? I often hear the following sentence: "I buy a PC for 5-10 years". It's ok, if you think about it, for an ordinary user, it's correct. However, technologies do not change that much in 5 years. Maybe they get better when it comes to a new codec, some technology for new games, but that's it. Doing a quick analysis we have: GTX 1080 - the lowest price is around 3000 lei. GTX 1070 - the lowest price is around 2000 lei. GTX 1060 6GB - the lowest price is around 1300 lei. GTX 1050 TI - the lowest price is around 800 lei. In summary, it seems that the most losing are those who choose to buy the best video card. From experience, I have seen that they are also guinea pigs. Many strange things happen on the high end, especially if you are among the first to choose the new platform.
  2. # If you use this feature find out that Apple came back with it. Walkie Talkie was removed two weeks ago after it was found to be vulnerable to attacks. Apple has worked hard and the latest watchOS 5.3 update brings the feature back. The function is very useful because it allows users to send short push to talk messages. I don't know how much it is used in Romania, but abroad people use it intensely.
  3. Here's everything you need to change your Netflix password Whether you've forgotten your Netflix password, or want to change it to something more secure (as well as booting your ex off your account), we've got you covered. Netflix is the most po[CENSORED]r streaming service in the world, with fantastic shows like Sex Education and Queer Eye keeping its 193 million subscribers glued to their screens. As with any online account, it's important to change your password regularly to keep your information secure, as well as stopping unwanted third-parties from using your account for free and potentially kicking you out of the service when you're right in the middle of your favorite show by maxing out the number of devices watching at one time. You can either change your Netflix password through your Internet browser of choice, or via the Netflix app on your mobile or tablet. So, without further ado, here's everything you need to know about changing or resetting your Netflix password. How to change your Netflix password via your browser First, head to Netflix in your browser and sign in by clicking the red button at the top right corner of your screen. Select your profile, and you'll then be taken to the Netflix landing page. From there, hover your cursor over your profile picture in the right hand corner of your browser and select Account from the drop down menu. Underneath the Membership & Billing section, you'll see your password in asterisks – click on Change Password to the right of this. Then, you'll be able to input your current password, followed by your desired new password. Confirm your new password by typing it in again. Below this, you'll see a check box saying "Require all devices to sign in again with new password". Make sure this box is checked to ensure that any third-parties that are using your account will need your new password to continue using your account. How to change your Netflix password on your mobile You can also change your Netflix password using the mobile app. To do this, login as normal and select your profile. Then, click on More at the bottom right corner of the app. Click on Account, and your account settings will open up in your device's browser. From there, follow the same steps as above to change your password. How to choose a strong password When choosing a new password, make sure you use a mixture of numbers, uppercase, and lowercase letters to make it difficult to guess. Punctuation marks like '!' or '%' are worth including, too. It's always best to use a password that you don't use for any other applications – after all, if one account becomes compromised, a hacker could gain access to any other accounts that use the same login details. How to reset your Netflix password If you've forgotten your login credentials, it's possible to reset your Netflix password. Head to the Netflix login page, either in your browser on on the mobile app. Underneath the Sign In button, click on the test that reads, 'Need help?'. From there, you can reset your password using the email address or mobile phone number associated with you account. If you've forgotten your email address too, select Text Message (SMS), and you'll get a verification code to reset your password. Don't remember your email address or the phone number you signed up with? Click 'I don't remember my email or phone' at the bottom of the page, and you'll be able to fill in further account details to recover your credentials. Protecting your Netflix account Aside from changing your password periodically, Netflix offers a few more tips on keeping your account safe, including adding a phone number for recovering a forgotten password. You should also sign out of unused devices, particularly if you're planning on selling them or giving them away. Netflix says that, "if you haven't done this, and the device is no longer in your possession, you can sign out of all devices from your Account page", noting that it can take up to one hour for this to be completed. Netflix also advises that you be aware of phishing attempts from scammers, particularly over email. Keep an eye out for any suspicious emails purporting to be from Netflix. The company says it will "never ask for any personal information to be sent to us over email", including payment information, identification numbers (i.e your social security number) or your account password. Any emails that ask for these details should be regarded as suspicious and ignored.
  4. Blockchain contact tracing app aims to win public trust to tackle COVID-19 A new form of digital contact tracing which uses unbreakable encryption to secure personal data could help win the level of public engagement required to fight the spread of COVID-19, scientists say. In a new paper published in IEEE Internet of Things Journal, engineers from the University of Glasgow outline how a trustworthy contact tracing system could be built on the unique properties of blockchain technology. Track and trace apps have the potential to be invaluable tools in the effort to contain the virus. Traditional track and trace methods, which involve healthcare staff personally contacting every infected person, are effective but are time-intensive and rely on the ability of the patient to correctly remember everyone they have recently interacted with. An app capable of mapping how infected people have interacted with others can help make the process faster and more accurate. A mobile phone-based contact tracing system called TraceTogether helped the government of Singapore to contain their coronavirus outbreak. TraceTogether tapped into mobile users' Bluetooth tech to map the interactions symptomatic people had with others. That data was shared with contact tracers who encouraged those who had contact with the symptomatic individual to self-isolate, preventing further spread of the virus. Tech giants including Apple and Google and the governments of some countries have developed similar systems to help contain the virus. However, digital privacy advocates have expressed concern about how effectively users' personal data will be shielded from hacking, theft or misuse. The University of Glasgow researchers' proposed new mobile-based system, named BeepTrace, harnesses the unique properties of blockchain technology to create a decentralized, potentially international system to help break the chains of virus transmission. Blockchain is best-known for its application in cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, where it facilitates secure financial transactions between individuals without the involvement of central banks. However, it is also in use in a wide range of other environments, including healthcare, supply chain management and information and communications technology. Dr. Lei Zhang, of the University of Glasgow's James Watt School of Engineering, is the paper's lead academic author. Dr. Zhang said, "One of the primary advantages of a blockchain-based system is that no one central authority is required to oversee the maintenance of data. Individual users' information is stored in a tamperproof digital ledger to which only they have the ability to add by using their unique digital signature. "Copies of that ledger are held locally by every user of that blockchain network, which ensures it remains accessible and consistent, and each change to the network is verified by a process called the consensus mechanism." BeepTrace, which is currently being tested as a smartphone app by a small amount of volunteers on the University of Glasgow campus before being opened to wider testing later in the year, ensures user privacy by the way their data is handled on the blockchain. Each user is assigned a randomly-generated anonymous ID, which changes regularly to prevent tracking or identification. If they test positive for COVID-19, their GP or other healthcare provider notes their infection on the blockchain using the IDs stored on the app over the last 14 days. Any other BeepTrace user who has been in contact with them during that time will receive a notification. Since only healthcare professionals (or apps verified by them) can update the blockchain with details of infection, there is little risk of misinformation being spread by users mistakenly or maliciously marking themselves as having tested positive. The app itself has two modes of operation: active or passive. The operation of passive mode is outlined in the IEEE Internet of Things Journal article. It uses smartphones' global positioning systems (GPS) to track users' movements and uploads the encrypted data to the blockchain. A special mechanism is designed to preserve user's privacy. When a new infection is added to the blockchain, a central server calculates where users have had close contact based on their GPS data. When the information on users' phones highlights a match with someone who has been infected, the app will push them a notification. Active mode is discussed in a second article set for publication shortly in a second journal, the IEEE Internet of Things Magazine. It works by harnessing the Bluetooth tech in users' smartphones. Every time two phones with BeepTrace installed are in close physical contact with each other, the app makes a note on both users' phones about their location and the date and time they interacted. The app regularly checks the locally-held information about contacts against the information in the blockchain. When news of an infection is added to the blockchain, the app pushes a warning notification to everyone who has been in recent contact with the infected person without disclosing their identity. Dr. Zhang added, "There are advantages and disadvantages to both systems. Active mode may be more demanding on users' smartphone batteries, and Bluetooth's effective range limits the app to sensing other users within 10 meters. However, since more of the data capture and processing is done on the users' side in active mode, the complexity of central servers required to make the matches could be reduced. "Passive mode's collection of GPS data, on the other hand, puts less strain on users' batteries at the cost of producing larger files for a third party server to process. "The app allows users to switch on both modes simultaneously in order to maximize its accuracy and effectiveness. The most important thing from a privacy point of view, though, is that users' personal data is always kept secure, and the app only lets users themselves know that they have been in contact with someone with a confirmed case of coronavirus." BeepTrace has already garnered attention from researchers, private companies and governments around the world. If the first larger-scale trial on the University of Glasgow campus later this year is a success, the team hope that a final version of the app could be completed and ready for use by the end of 2020. The University of Glasgow's Professor Muhammad Imran leads the research group from which the BeepTrace papers are drawn. Prof Imran said: "Although we're developing BeepTrace as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the underlying principles are applicable to any type of healthcare data security. "That could be a future pandemic similar to the one we're living through now, but it could also be used to safeguard the public's personal data as health services move towards more data-driven interventions. Data from wearable health monitors, for example, could be uploaded and safely stored for secure sharing with GPs in the future to build a more complete picture of patients' everyday wellbeing."

  8. Covid-19 had the courage to challenge me, bad idea: Zlatan Ibrahimovic after testing positive for coronavirus AC Milan forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic came up with an unmissable tweet as he was seen taking a dig at Covid-19 after testing positive for coronavirus. HIGHLIGHTS : I tested negative to Covid yesterday and positive today: Ibrahimovic Covid had the courage to challenge me. Bad idea: Ibrahimovic Zlatan Ibrahimovic in quarantine after testing Covid-19 positive Former Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 38, has tested positive for coronavirus, the AC Milan forward announced on Twitter while taking a dig on Covid-19 in his indomitable style. Zlatan's Tweet read, "Covid had the courage to challenge me. Bad idea." You will struggle to find a player as outrageous as Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The star PSG striker and Swedish Captain is a goal scoring machine with dozens of records and trophies on his resume, but he is perhaps better known for his outspoken personality "I tested negative to Covid yesterday and positive today,” Ibrahimovic wrote. "No symptoms what so ever. Covid had the courage to challenge me. Bad idea." He was placed in quarantine at his home, per an official statement from his Serie A team AC Milan. The announcement came one day after his teammate Leo Duarte returned a positive test, however, Milan said the rest of the squad, who were also tested, were negative. Former Barcelona, Juventus, Ajax and Inter Milan forward Ibrahimovic, who will be 39 in October, is the highest-profile Serie A player to test positive since play resumed in June following a three-month stoppage. One of Europe's most charismatic players, he has scored 14 goals in 22 matches since returning for a second stint at Milan in January, helping revive his team. He began the new Serie A season in style on Monday by scoring twice in the 2-0 win over Bologna.

  11. Adata is ready to play with the big boys. The company this week launched the Spectrix D50 Xtreme series of RAM tha's are only available as DDR4-4800 and DDR4-5000 kits. The Spectrix D50 Xtreme memory modules compete with the best RAM with a revamped exterior to differentiate from the vanilla ones. The aluminium heat spreader flaunts a polished, mirror-like finish. The triangular RGB diffuser is still present to give the memory module a bit of bling. Considering the extreme frequencies, it's no surprise that Adata only commercializes the Spectrix D50 Xtreme in dual-channel flavors with a maximum capacity of 16GB. It becomes harder and more expensive to bin memory chips at frequencies like DDR4-4800 and DDR5-5000, which is why memory vendors don't typically offer densities beyond 8GB per module. Adata XPG Spectrix D50 Xtreme Specifications: The DDR4-5000 memory kit arrives with the timings tweaked to 19-28-28. The timings look normal for a kit of this caliber, but the required DRAM voltage certainly raises an alarm. Adata's Spectrix D50 Xtreme memory modules needs 1.6V to run at DDR4-5000, while similar offerings and even Crucial's DDR4-5100 memory only pull 1.5V. On the contrary, the DDR4-4800 version of the Spectrix D50 Xtreme operates at 1.5V. Adata configured the timings for this memory kit to 19-26-26. Like Adata's other memory products, the Spectrix D50 Xtreme comes with full support for Intel XMP 2.0, which seems odd , at least for the DDR4-5000 kit. WHen it comes to Intel XMP, 1.5V is the maximum voltage allowed. Still, it shouldn't matter much, since at frequencies like DDR4-4800 and above, some manual tweaking will likely be required. You might not be able to get away with just enabling XMP unless you have a processor with an exceptional integrated memory controller (IMC). Adata didn't reveal the pricing or availability of the Spectrix D50 Xtreme memory kits. The cheapest DDR4-4800 memory kit on the market right now retails at $38, so that should give you an idea of what to expect from the Spectrix D50 Xtreme.
  12. Google testing automatic tab-grouping feature There are people in this world who are perfectly content to work on their computers with only one or two open browser tabs at a time. But then there are folks who collect a dozen, two dozen or more tabs each session, frantically darting among the pages in often futile efforts to remain focused and organized. Google Chrome browsers brought smiles to many of those multitasking users last spring with the introduction of tab groups. These allow users to better organize huge collections of open tabs under single headings. If you are working on a report with articles from different media sources, for instance, you can create headings for The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Tech Xplore and other sources from which you collected multiple stories. Chrome tabs can be assigned names and colors for immediate identification. You can even use emojis to label your groups. Some people will prefer to prioritize their tabs of pages to read with labels such as Today, Wednesday, This week, Urgent, Can wait, etc. Students writing reports can categorize open tabs with headings such as Background, Quotes, Statistics, News and Photos. Google has recently added a new feature to tab groups: auto grouping. It is still in test mode, and users are reporting varying results. But when polished, it promises a helpful boost to your workflow by recognizing common themes, such as the web site domain, and grouping those open tabs together automatically. It is believed the feature may eventually be used to automatically create groups according to theme based on headers or contents. To test the new feature, you'll need the Chrome Canary browser version 87. Canary is a special version of the chrome browser designed for more experiences users and developers. Its newest features are generally stable, but still in test mode. It usually is used as a companion to the official, more stable Chrome browser. To explore auto groups, you'll need to type chrome://flags in the search bar, locate the Tab Groups Auto Create feature and activate it by checking the box. Canary is one of a few versions of Chrome designed for users who like to maximize their browser experience and test new features. Such new beta features always come with risk of crashing. Canary's name is derived from the expression "canary in a coalmine," referring to the practice of carrying canaries into untested underground coal mine passageways. If the air is toxic, the sacrificial canaries will provide warning. If a Canary browser feature crashes, the test browser prevents bad code from migrating to one's official Chrome browser. Meanwhile, tab groups can still be created manually simply by selecting multiple pages, right clicking on one of them and selecting "new group." At that point, the group can be named and one of eight colors selected. Right clicking a web page brings up a menu to allow creation of a new group or adding the page to an already existing one. Groups can be rearranged by dragging the group name tab along the tab bar.
