  18. Reviews for Cult of the Lamb--a game that is equal parts adorable and disturbing--have gone live at a number of outlets. A combination of roguelike gameplay mixed with fast-paced dungeon-crawling, the critical reception has been mostly positive so far. "Nine times out of 10, being a lamb led to the slaughter is not the best position to find yourself in," Jessica Howard wrote in GameSpot's Cult of the Lamb review. "That tenth time, however, is while playing Massive Monster's Cult of the Lamb, a delightfully demented roguelike that combines fast-paced dungeoneering, bold art, dark topics, and real-time simulation elements to create a one-of-a-kind experience." Game: Cult of the Lamb Platforms: PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch Developer: Massive Monster Release Date: August 11, 2022 Price: $25 Several critics have praised the game for its inspired design, engaging gameplay, and how it deftly combines genres into a fast, fluid and fun experience. On GameSpot's sister site Metacritic, Cult of the Lamb currently holds an aggregate score of 84 from 44 reviews. Here's what other critics have to say about Cult of the Lamb. GameSpot - 90/100 "Whether you are exploring the dungeons or expanding your cult, the experience is enjoyable, challenging, and more than a bit demented. With how surprisingly dense each of these parts are, the fact that all the pieces come together as smoothly as they do is a triumph." Destructoid - 85/100 "I'm a big fan of roguelite action games and city builders, but even if you're on the mild side, Cult of the Lamb is a winning combo. It draws many of the best aspects of those genres, places them in a one-of-a-kind world, and charts its own condensed course. The result is hard to put down. Despite the morbid subject matter and potential for player fatigue, this is such an easy game to recommend to a wide audience. Go on, spread the good word." PC Gamer - 82/100 "Cult of the Lamb is clever, it's wonderfully designed, and the script is sharp and funny. The atmosphere is great, helped in no small part by art which immediately endears itself to you. Speaking of which, making all of your followers adorable wickle critters was a smart choice. Intentionally or otherwise, it makes the brainwashing and murky morals amusing rather than disturbing." Game Informer - 80/100 "From the fast-paced dungeon combat that never grew stale to the factory-like base building that nailed the stress of resource management, was enough and then some to keep me engaged and indoctrinated." IGN - 80/100 "Cult of the Lamb is as adorable as it is unsettling, an eclectic mix of genres and themes that come together extremely well. Its combat is immensely satisfying even if its short runs and the relative lack of variety between them doesn't give it the lasting appeal of other action roguelikes, and building my very own cult base and tending to a flock of followers was just as fun as any swing of the axe. I may not revisit it now that the credits have rolled, but Cult of the Lamb is something altogether different that I had an absolute blast playing. " Polygon - Unscored "The roguelike action-adventure game Cult of the Lamb wraps the grotesque in a charming little package of characters that look like they could be pulled straight from a children's story. The 2D animations are simple, but snappy. And despite the overarching narrative being one of vengeance, consumption, and sacrifice, there is a sort of levity here, with picture book-style illustrations and vibrant 2D backgrounds." Rock, Paper, Shotgun - Unscored "Cult Of The Lamb absolutely oozes charisma and excitement at the tiniest opportunity, and it's hard not to be taken in by the loving attention to detail on display while you're playing. The combat aspect may be a little lacking in content, but it's good enough to hold its own and keep me entertained between periods spent carefully taking care of my growing legion of adoring followers. And sacrificing them for my amusement, of course. That bit's important too." NME - 60/100 "Cult of the Lamb is so inspired and enticing in the beginning, but it feels crushed under the weight of its own ambition. A bit like a real cult, then? A smart but flawed indie game with a good heart, Massive Monster’s latest is well worth a look if you have played and enjoyed its varied inspirations, but it can’t quite deliver on the promise of controlling an emergent cult of critters, at least in a way that feels free of bugs or repetitive busywork." source;https://www.gamespot.com/articles/review-roundup-for-cult-of-the-lamb/1100-6506330/

  19. Photos from the set of the upcoming TV show suggest that Amazon is taking its design cues from Fallout 4 and 76. The set for Amazon's upcoming Fallout TV series seems pretty leaky, because today we got our first close-up look at the Bezos Empire's take on Fallout's trademark power armour. Folks, it's huge. Eagle-eyed observers on Reddit(opens in new tab) note that the design of the armour in the photo strongly resembles the T-60 power armour that you might remember from Fallout 4 and 76. That suggests that the aesthetic direction of the series is being set by Bethesda's east coast Fallouts, rather than the western-flavoured games of yore. Although I'll go to my grave declaring not only that New Vegas is the best Fallout, but one of the best games of all time, I have to admit that Fallout 4 was a strikingly pretty thing indeed. Amazon could do a lot worse than to take its visual cues from Bethesda on this one. This isn't the first clandestine shot that's been smuggled off the Fallout set. Last week, we got a few snaps that seem to show the show's designs for vault interiors and vault suits. Before that, someone stumbled upon a scene(opens in new tab) that was almost certainly a set from the show while out and about in Staten Island. Again, to Amazon's credit they all looked very Fallout indeed, right down to the tailfins on the burnt-out, nuclear-powered cars. The show is set to star Walton Goggins and Ella Purnell(opens in new tab), but there's no word yet on when it'll be released. Job listings suggest that shooting started sometime around the end of last month, with a realistic release window of 2024(opens in new tab). Considering how polished the props and sets look in these photos, that seems like a fairly accurate guess. I confess I'm still a bit sceptical about this one. I love Fallout 1 and New Vegas, but while the Bethesda games are good fun, I've never felt like the writers of them have managed to get enough of a grip on the setting to say anything really interesting with it. If the series ends up taking its plot cues from Fallout 4 and 76, I'm not sure they'll be able to get me on board. I probably will spend a lot of time watching YouTube clips of people stomping around in power armour, though. https://www.pcgamer.com/leaked-shots-show-amazons-colossal-take-on-fallouts-power-armour/

  20. Today we have with us a mid-size SUV that aims to rival the benchmarks in the segment, from German brands. No, it's not Groundhog Day... but lately we've been telling you about this. SUVs are the cars that leave the most profit margin and if it is from a premium brand, then even more. The contender, the new DS 7, which has lost the Crossback surname it had when it was launched in 2018. This mid-range renewal arrived at dealerships at the beginning of 2023, repeating its strengths and improving those where it faltered. After a week driving it, we liked, above all, the ride comfort, with a suspension that makes bumps disappear. Also the care for the details and materials of the interior and rates that are not at all exaggerated for these times. The DS 7 has a starting price of 42,800 euros, precisely with the 130 hp diesel engine that we tested today. You can find DS 7 offers in our new car section, published by official dealers of the brand, as well as tools to finance the car and be able to comfortably pay for it month by month. But does such a little powerful diesel make sense at this point when hybridization is clearly committed? Let's find out. Abroad The French sell the DS 7 as having charme (which is something like charm or attractiveness). The truth is that it is an elegant SUV and with the renovation it has gained a more modern touch. Differences with the previous model? Well, there are quite a few on the front. The grill is somewhat larger and glossy black rules the grille, with chrome inserts in the form of diamonds of different sizes, matching the frames or the base. They also changed the shapes of the bumper but, above all, the lights. The great novelty is the DS Light Veil, the veil of light, which are daytime running lights arranged in four vertical lines on the bumper itself. They are made up of 33 LED diodes, integrate the indicators and have been achieved with a laser-engraved polycarbonate surface, merging with the bodywork as already predicted by prototypes such as the DS X E-Tense or the DS Aero Sport Lounge. They steal prominence, of course, from the main optics, which are Full LED, although the new Vision 3.0 LEDs are standard only in the highest finishes. Undoubtedly what changes the least is the silhouette. In its day we said that it seemed little risky to us, little to do with that of the most recent DS 4. Without a doubt, it was noted that this model was key to the group's aspirations and, in fact, in 2022 it concentrated more than half of the sales in Spain. In the basic versions we have 18-inch wheels, although they can be up to 21 in the most powerful. By the way, there are six body colors to choose from, two of them black. Few changes in measurements. It is a car that is practically 4.60 meters long (4,593 mm), making it shorter than rivals such as the BMW X3 (4,708 mm), the Audi Q5 (4,682 mm) or the Mercedes GLC (4,716 mm), which They already flirt with 4.70 meters. It goes to 1,891 mm wide and the height is 1,625 mm. And there are also news behind. The LED lights are thinner and have the shape of scales with a vortex effect, as well as "parading" turn signals, as the brand calls them. Between them, a horizontal line with the inscription DS Automobiles in the center of the tailgate, just where the word Crossback could be read before. Let it be known who the manufacturer is Inside If there is something that DS stands out for, it is in its well-cared interiors. There is no change in that, beyond different upholstery and everything is very well finished. From the dash to the tops of the doors, even the outside of the console or more mundane areas like the door pockets, with felt flooring. Nor does the distribution of the elements change, with two 12-inch screens. In the main one, which presides over the dashboard, there is a great novelty, the DS Iris System multimedia system. The idea is to improve the entire user interface and, of course, they have. The response has improved and so have the menus. It has some quick access in the form of a physical button at the bottom and a volume wheel... which could improve the touch a bit. The air conditioning does have to be controlled on the screen. On that screen is the start button, an unusual position and which also has a somewhat plastic touch, not very premium. Of course, the action of starting the car is embellished by the BRM chronograph that emerges when the button is pressed. Fabulous front seats, firm but in which you don't get tired on a long trip and that have a bench that lengthens so that your calves are not exposed. In the center console we have wireless charging or a couple of drink rests, preceded by the Stellantis gear selector that we can see in many models. It is flanked by a bunch of controls for power windows or central locking. A little further back, a huge and deep central chest. The steering wheel is not very big but it does have a good touch. With four spokes, it is somewhat flattened at the base and I am not convinced that it uses a satellite control on the left for cruising speed control. Especially since, with the cams, there is little room for the fingers. Behind the wheel, a 12-inch screen. It shows a lot of information and in quite different ways, but we miss some somewhat classic view since the design wins clarity in many of them. Behind there is a good space for two, with good heights for both the legs and the head. A third occupant is going to be a little more uncomfortable, although he does not have a transmission tunnel that bothers him, but the console sticks out a bit. The best of these seats, the quality of the seats and headrests. We also have air vents at the end of the center console and a couple of USB sockets, as well as classic nets behind the backs of the front seats to leave an object. Trunk There is no change in the trunk capacity in this update. Announces 555 liters, a figure that is very good. . An interesting fact is that the plug-in hybrid versions do not reduce capacity and that the only models that exceed them are more than 10 centimeters longer. In addition to being a good size for its dimensions, it is a space with regular shapes and well finished, although you have to save a small step to reach the bottom. There is a space under the floor to carry tools and there is no lack of details such as hooks to fix the load, hangers or two holes on the sides where to carry small objects. There are two light points, a 12 volt socket on the left wall and a rubber band on the right. It is possible to gain capacity by folding down the rear seat backs, divided in a 60:40 ratio, to achieve a space of 1,752 liters of capacity, not completely flat unless we put the floor in its highest position. A curious detail: the tailgate of the DS 7 has fully integrated rear lights. This allows them to have a differentiated design from the majority, since they are not divided into two parts. Thus, there is also a larger hole to access the cargo space. Bad part? DS had to install additional lights in the bumper so that the car can be seen at night with the tailgate up Engine Beatrice Foucher, the CEO of the brand, confirmed in an interview that we will see a firm commitment to electric DS from 2024 and, from 2028, they will only sell electric cars. For now, the bet is on plug-in hybrids and this DS 7 has no less than three variants with the surname E-Tense. A front-wheel drive, with 225 CV and all-wheel drive with 300 and 360 CV, the latter new in the range. All have a 14.2 kWh battery (somewhat larger than the 13.2 kW that we tested in the previous generation) and with a wing that certifies between 58 and 67 km of autonomy. And yes, there is a small loophole for conventional thrusters. The 130 hp 1.5 BlueHDi diesel, which is the only engine without electrification, labeled C. It is a four-cylinder block that delivers its maximum power at 3,750 rpm, with a maximum torque of 300 Nm at 1,750 rpm. It is always associated with the eight-speed automatic transmission of torque converter and does not have scandalous benefits. It takes 11.6 seconds to reach 100 km/h from a standstill and its top speed is 195 km/h. At least it announces a low cost of 5.5 l/100 km. Time to check in gear if it meets it. Behavior If there is one aspect in which this car stands out, it is the suspension. It is firm on the highway and then it is capable of swallowing the irregularities of the terrain as only other much more expensive cars can achieve. The 18-inch wheels help because they have a wider rubber profile. In the photo, the large ones are very beautiful, but with ones of the right size you want comfort. I also like the steering, because without being too direct, it does have a good weight and you feel the car firm. The DS 7 E-Tense, the plug-in hybrids already have the predictive active suspension DS Active Scan Suspension as standard. With it, two front cameras read the road and adapt the suspension to what you are going to find. And the engine, well, the truth is that it is not a shot and does not stand up to comparison with the access diesel versions of other premium SUVs. It's responsive, especially after 2,000 rpm, but it's not a sports car. The change seeks more comfortable transitions than quick reactions, even if you select the Sport mode which, yes, squeezes the revolutions a little more than the Eco and Normal. The diesel block does not have all-wheel drive, but with these suspensions and good torque, the DS 7 moves quite well on roads, without leaking too much potholes. Do you want more mobility? You have to choose the most powerful plug-ins. The passenger compartment is also well soundproofed from aerodynamic or rolling noises and you only perceive the rattle of the diesel with a cold engine. And in terms of consumption, it does not do badly, since it is relatively easy to stay at 6.2 l/100 km. They are not ultra-low, but they are acceptable for a car of its size and that is close to a ton and a half in weight. https://noticias.coches.com/pruebas/ds-7-bluehdi-130-cv-prueba-opiniones/484219

  21. Thomas Tuchel questioned Chelsea's commitment and said they need signings urgently after a 4-0 pre-season defeat by Arsenal in Florida on Saturday. Gabriel Jesus, Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Albert Sambi Lokonga scored in a comprehensive Gunners win. Chelsea manager Tuchel suggested his side may not be ready for their Premier League opener at Everton on 6 August. "I am far from relaxed," Tuchel said. "We were simply not good enough. We were simply not competitive." The Gunners dominated the match in front of a record 63,811 fans at Orlando's Camping World Stadium. Jesus, who joined from Manchester City in a £45m deal on 4 July, put Arsenal ahead after 15 minutes, and three further goals wrapped up a comprehensive win. Arsenal have now won all three of their matches on their US tour, scoring nine goals. 'Simply not competitive' Speaking after the match, Tuchel said his side "deserved to lose". He added: "The worrying part is that the level of commitment physically and mentally for this match was far higher for Arsenal than for us. "They played I think what is their strongest line-up and structure that you see now for several weeks. This was the line-up they will try to start for Premier League games. "It was surely not our strongest line-up. This is a part of an explanation but only a little part and the other part is worrying. "I cannot guarantee we will be ready in two weeks." The match was Chelsea's third and final appearance of their US tour. They had previously beaten Mexican side Club America 2-1 and lost on penalties to Major League Soccer side Charlotte FC. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/62282294

  22. Confidence among finance chiefs at the UK's biggest companies has seen its sharpest rise since 2020. The Deloitte survey of chief financial officers showed sentiment rebounded as their concerns about energy prices and Brexit problems eased. There were 25% more chief financial officers feeling better about the future than worse, compared to 17% more feeling the opposite three months ago. Not since the Covid vaccine rollout has there been such a swing in confidence. Ian Stewart, chief economist at Deloitte, attributed the bounce back to improvements on several fronts at once. "Since the beginning of the year, energy prices have fallen, inflation looks to have peaked, relations with the EU have improved since the Windsor framework and there has been a period of comparative political calm after the turmoil of last year." The survey was conducted from 21 March to 3 April, which was in the aftermath of the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank in the US and the forced merger of Credit Suisse with UBS. Yet despite concerns these events raised about the health of the banking sector, the chief financial officers reported only modest changes to the cost and availability of credit. Britain's economy is back, says chancellor UK to be one of worst performing economies - IMF The UK chief financial officers surveyed are predominantly from big companies, often part of global operations, and Mr Stewart conceded there was often a disconnect between their experience and smaller companies which have seen a sharp rise in insolvencies. "In many ways it mirrors what we are seeing at household level. The difference between the haves and the have nots is widening." Despite the change in mood, chief financial officers are still feeling risk averse with many saying their priorities were cutting costs and building up cash reserves. That will be a disappointment to the government who is keen for businesses to invest now to spur future economic growth. One exception to that is investment in artificial intelligence. Deloitte found that an overwhelming majority of chief financial officers expect to see significant growth in spending on AI over the next five years but were divided on whether that would lead to an increase or decrease in the number of employees. The UK economy has been struggling recently due to high gas prices, rising interest rates and a sluggish trade performance. Business investment has also been weak. Last week, the International Monetary Fund said Britain would be one of the worst performing major economies in the world this year, shrinking by 0.3%. However, this prediction is slightly better than its previous expectation of a 0.6% contraction, made in January. And a separate forecast published by the EY Item Club on Monday finds the UK is now expected to grow by 0.2% this year - up from a previously forecast contraction of 0.7%. Hywel Ball, EY's UK chair, said the economy "seems to be turning a corner, albeit very slowly" but added that the challenges "haven't gone away overnight". "Inflation is still in double-digits and energy prices remain historically high... However, perceptions matter and the fact the economy has been able to outperform expectations could help stir a revival in business and consumer confidence." https://www.bbc.com/news/business-65294355

  23. Born in Surrey in 1987, actor Tom Felton is best known for his role as peroxide-blond baddie Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films. Before scoring his major role in the fantasy franchise at the age of 12, he appeared in The Borrowers and Anna and the King. He went on to star in Rise of the Planet of the Apes, has released five EPs and most recently appeared on stage in 2:22: A Ghost Story. His memoir, Beyond the Wand, is out now. This is me, eight years old and in Malaysia shooting my second film, Anna and the King. As the only English-speaking kid on set, I would have been bored, which is why my mum, who was my chaperone, bought me the book The Art of Getting Even. I have three older brothers, so this was research for when I got back home. Not that I would have put any of it into practice, but you can see from the smirk on my face I enjoyed thinking about it. Jodie Foster was playing my mum. Instead of being familiar with her oeuvre – I’d watched Terminator 2 by the time I was five, but Mum drew the line at The Silence of the Lambs – I was just a fan of Jodie as a person. Not only for her acting, but her patience while working with so many animals and children. Growing up, I was the runt of the pack – or “maggot”, as my brothers affectionately called me. Mixing with older people made me confident, but I was still pretty naive and extremely cheeky, which is quite cute for a while but can turn into arrogance as you get older. Nevertheless, it came in handy when I went to my first audition for Potter. In the queue, I was bored. It was very different from the auditions I’d done before – which had been: get in and get out. This was an entire nation of kids who were major fans of the book wanting to have a go. Hundreds of us were lined up and asked about the part of the book we were most excited about seeing in the film. Every one of them had an excited answer, such as “Quidditch!”, while I didn’t have a clue what they were talking about, as I hadn’t read the book. What was Hogwarts? I decided to steal the line from the kid next to me – quite poorly, apparently, because the director looked at me like: “Uh-huh, you wanna see Gringotts the most? A bank?” Still, that cockiness might have helped me get the part of Draco. While I initially auditioned for the role of Potter, Draco is the best role I could have got, because he’s a slimy git and so vastly different from who I am. He’s an only child with a huge sense of entitlement and crap parents. While we never went without, we certainly weren’t rich. My mum was very supportive of whatever my latest fad was: if I wanted to be a football player for United, then she’d get me the kit, then she’d get me a new kit when I changed to Chelsea the year after. I wanted to be a yo-yo master and a violinist and an ice-hockey player; my mum worked a third job so I could do all of that. When I moved on to the next thing – which was acting – she wouldn’t berate me, she’d just ask what I needed. I never felt as if I had any underlying talent, but within a few weeks of getting an agent my life had changed for ever. I did an advert and The Borrowers film came a few weeks after that and then Potter. My school experience was pretty poor as a result. I was used to having a whole class to disrupt, and I hated that I couldn’t be the class clown as it was just me and one tutor doing school work in my breaks on set. When I did go back to normal school, I’d get teased for my bleach-blond hair, but I also got to see my best friends. I got straight Cs in my GCSEs, which I attributed to working too hard on the films. When I found out Daniel [Radcliffe] and Emma [Watson] got nine A*s I thought, you bastards! https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2022/nov/19/tom-felton-harry-potter-draco-malfoy-looks-back
